Moods by Krizia Uomo

I have waited to find this scent for a reasonable price and was able - as it was sadly discontinued. Overview: Moods by Krizia Uomo was launched in 1989. Top notes are aldehydes, coriander, lavender, bergamot, cardamom and lemon; middle notes are rose, carnation, ginger, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, and geranium; base notes are patchouli, leather, tonka bean, amber, musk, vanilla, oakmoss and cedar. I have been seeking out special bottles of Krizia juice recently, including a 100ml bottle of Spazio Krizia (with the after shave balm). I've owned Krizia Uomo for a while, really like it (although there is no similarities here) and Moods has been lurking in my "Want" list near the top for a couple of years. Patience is virtue. I am really loving this composition! It is, at once, entirely modern in feel, yet some of the singular notes/aspects have retro vibe. Unreal. Truly amazing scent that warps time. The opening is a blast of sharp lavender (green and slightly medicinal), aldehydes that tingle the nostrils at first, along with rich carnation-clove (at the far end of the spectrum in smoke-infused clove oil), and crisp bergamot engulfed in patchouli - huge, opens herbaceous, slightly camphorous, very aromatic and powerful. After about 10 minutes, the cardamom, ginger and coriander add spice and "simmer" the concoction while aldehydes give a lifted airiness to the overall scent - tantalizing. Then, a note not mentioned above rises into the fragrance that blends so beautifully with the entire composition and gives it the color of the juice, golden tobacco leaf. It is one of the finest uses of tobacco leaf I have ever come across - as it merges seamlessly with the patchouli's green, sharp earthiness (with a slight camphorous quality now emerging)...and the bouquet of radiant florals. Absolutely brilliant! The rose enters quietly and it is a great note here (not "dirty" like in Zino, nor dominant) - but the depth of the patchouli now darkens even more (with the leather now prominent), making the rose deep, warm and rich. The beguiling, earthy carnation-clove and alluring rose together with lily-of-the-valley, jasmine and geranium constitute the floral heart - a masculine bouquet with a lot spiciness and green notes all wrapped in smooth, warm leather. A spicy and fragrant dash of ginger keeps the freshness here, along with a little zesty kick...blended well with the potent coriander. The base shows some ambient warmth in an unsweetened "amber" accord (the tip of a tobacco or clove/kretek cigarette or incense stick), along with a nice peppery cedar, sandalwood and radiant musk - but the patchouli and tobacco are still front & center...incredible! The florals ease down and the bouquet, while present, is now an undertone to the warm base. Masculine, bold, fragrant, rich and deep - yet articulate and refined...Moods fits its name in that it shows several. It transitions beautifully and I find the fragrance to be in very good harmony. Krizia has created another wonderful scent here. Final score - 9+/10 and know that it definitely can change your mood. Macho elegance in a bottle - superb! **Update** - Full wearing the other day and it resonated in my mind. This is truly niche-quality fragrance from a fantastic Italian house. Moods is revelatory to me and has worked its way upward in my mind. I smelled the shirt I wore that day and it still had the full smell of Moods over 48 hours later. I am shocked at the incredible depth, richness and power. Ultra-chic! A top-tier scent for me that is truly avant-garde. Revised score - 9.5/10! Very rare, unique and special. Incredibly, if this was released today, it could be from a guerrilla-marketed perfumier in the niche world...and every bottle would beckon a $2-3/ml price tag.

Okay, gentlemen, look. I am a woman. Who likes men. Here's a secret: 98% of all women do NOT KNOW OR CARE what year your fragrance was made in. No woman in the history of the world has ever thought, "I really like this guy but . . . sniff, sniff . . . why, what's that I smell? Can it be? He is wearing a cologne that came out 12 years ago. Nope!! It's off!! He's going home by himself." We care (1) if you have basic hygiene, and (2) do you smell GOOD or not? We don't know if it's dated. We don't know how much you paid for it. We know if the scent works on YOU, enhances YOUR masculinity. Now, will Krizia Moods enhance your masculinity? Do you have a pulse? Then yes. I CAN tell you this: I once stopped kissing a man on a date, solely because the cologne he was wearing was some trendy, department-store, expensive nightmare . . . sickly-sweet and full of calone (the plastic, allegedly "aquatic" or "melon" note that somehow manages to smell like industrial waste, cheap air freshener, and rotting produce all at the same time). Oh, the stuff was The Latest Thing, to be sure. And The Latest Thing was bleeping awful. I could only imagine the stench if things had gotten . . . more heated. As it was, the petrochemicals in the "panty dropper" he was wearing were giving me a runny nose and a pessimistic attitude. If he had been wearing Krizia Moods, though . . . believe me, he would have gotten more than just kissing. Heck, I would have bought him breakfast too. Cheers, Friends.

The opening on this is a joy - a wonderful slap to the face. The scent then calms down, which is a shame really, as that big, brassy 'hello' is so much fun. As it does, it becomes quite similar to the legendary Givenchy Gentleman (1974) - a scent that defies classification. The most notable differences are that the Givenchy has an animalic dimension (civet) that the Krizia Moods entirely lacks; and the Krizia amps up the leather. Reviewing one scent by quoting another is a pet peeve of mine, but I feel entitled to do it here, because I think that anyone even remotely considering buying this scent will be coming from a perfume 'tradition' or 'fanbase' that makes ignorance of the Givenchy masterpiece nigh-on impossible. The scent acts like it's going to be 'beast mode' (apologies for the Fragrantica cliché), but actually becomes quite demure and 'background-y' relatively quickly. It's not an '80's powerhouse' (you can officially slap me if I use another perfume cliché), although it opens like one. It's exceptionally masculine. I think it's only really likely to appeal to a perfume collector or obsessive, who loves to explore the by-ways of the 70s/80s 'golden age' of men's perfumery. But hey - it's dirt cheap to get new old stock, so go for it. I got 30 ml delivered for £12, and that supply will outlive me. I absolutely love it.

A distanza di anni dalla prima recensione e indossandolo in questi giorni ,penso che sia uno dei profumi più moderni in assoluto mai provato. Non guardare l'anno di nascita ,questa fragranza era troppo avanti coi tempi ,molto sofisticato ,elegante fin troppo,cupo come lo sono i nostri tempi ,inquinato come le nostre città,una pella dura come quasi nessuno ha mai interpretato,aldeidi che compaiono sin dall'inizio ma poi ci abbandonano quasi subito per lasciarci avvolgere da questo immenso mare nero di note che ci aggrediscono e ci ammaliano nella loro stretta. Poi la stretta si fa più leggera e si intravede qualcosa di più delicato ,i fiori giungono dopo essere stati assenti per diverso tempo,la fragranza si ammorbidisce e rimane più delicata ,fino a giungere al finale dove si ripresenta un cuoio meno pesante e affievolito da muschi e legni. Una invenzione paragonabile solo ad una toccata e fuga di Bach . Quando i Grandi sarti ,qui parliamo di Krizia curavano personalmente anche le fragranze i risultati erano maestosi . Questo potrebbe essere un profumo del 2030 e noi non ce siamo ancora accorti .

This is all about patchouli to start. Slap you around, dense, dank patchouli.Fast forward maybe 30 minutes and some florals creep in and a beautiful leather accord settles in with an oakmoss base. A classy scent that, to me, isn't quite 80s powerhouse. More of a classy gentleman's scent that definitely evokes the time but also draws my mind to Jovoy's modern patchouli scents. It's niche quality, not super dated (I tend to not think of scents that way, generally, but this could be released by a niche house today and it'd be lauded). Probably one of the smoothest and most natural smelling scents I've blind bought from this era. I got a mostly full 25ml bottle from eBay for cheap and I'm happy to have it. I'll never finish this much juice, so anything bigger would be a waste. 7-9 hours on my skin, 2-3 hours projection that I notice. A 7.5/10 for me. Not something I'll reach for a lot, but if I want to do something different for a cold weather date night, I could do worse!

I agree with several reviews, this is another great 80's fragrance with a definite herbal/woodsy tone. When I first sprayed it on my skin, If I had to describe the initial aroma it smells like wet oak leafs...a very earthy aroma. After it settles the aroma of patucchli gives it just a hint of sweet note with a strong herbal base from lavender, oakmoss, cardamom and a woodsy base. Aldehydes is very much one the main component which gives this very deep aroma. Longevity and Silage is excellent lasting well past 8hrs Overall, This fragrance is not your typical fragrance, it has a very distinct/unique aroma which acquires the appreciation for this frag's aroma. If you a find a bottle, I recommend you try before buying it. I enjoy stronger fragrance whether it be herbal, woodsy, spicy and leather base. 9/10 As a side note...growing up my mother would have chamomile tea. The aroma of chamomile has a distinct aroma, I could swear that part of herbal aroma is from chamomile.

Take two parts Givenchy Gentleman, add one part high quality bay rum and a dash of clove oil, and you'll be very close to the effect of Moods Uomo. Like Givenchy Gentleman, Moods Uomo is a woody chypre scent with a heart of prominent patchouli, but while GG adds floral, honey, rose, amber and leather notes, Moods goes more in the direction of spices --- cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf --- and resins like benzoin and vanilla, with some cedarwood and tobacco notes as well. They're clearly related scents, but each has its own personality too, and it's been a long time since a new scent was introduced with anything like this type of bold woody/spicy panache. It's distinctive and long-lasting, and definitely not for anyone whose friends refer to him as "dude." This is a mature man's scent that takes confidence and a degree of comfort with oneself to pull off. I like it a lot.

I often find in reading other reviews that when others find the opening to certain fragrances overwhelming and too sharp, 'waiting' 30 minutes to an hour for it to settle, I am meanwhile reveling in that very same opening. I LOVE the opening to Moods by Krizia Uomo, that invigorating punch of lavender and steely aldehyde burst, with this wild unctuousness from the patchouli. As it does dry into the heart, it doesn't at all disappoint, as there is a bouquet of white florals mingled with green herbs. The cool muguet and spicy carnation are what I detect in particular. There is an overall warm, dry sensation from Moods, but this takes a turn as it progresses into the base hours later, as the camphorousness of the patchouli gets mildly sweeter from the amber base. This is startlingly good.

Patchouli bomb-lasts forever!Got a sample a few years back,and took me some time to get this on ebay...i think it will be very pricey,when that few bottles left dissapear from e bay...about the perfume...i like patchouly,this one is a little bit,not too dated.It has that late 80’signature smell,but it’s damn good,great!Complex,that is how the simple designer perfumes were made back then...no niche bullsh****....if some indie put this nowadays,it would cost 150€,for sure...it is strong presence perfume,it’s damn manly,it’s in your face,i’m a man,i’m not a kid,mature,and well dressed.Imagining double breasted heavy herringbone coat,winter time,great trousers,a great crockett/Carmina/Edward green chukkas on the feet,and this Krizia.What a great combo.

One of my all time favourites. The performance is very good, not monstrous, but just perfect! Patchohli and pine, similar to Givenchy Gentleman and HOT Always by Bond no 9. This one, along with Gentleman, Terre de Hermes and Rochas Macassar, even though not similar, all have a specific type of depth to them, an underneath nuance that just makes them fabulos, like Some sort of oil. If Krizia Moods would be sold today under a notorious niche brand it would be around 150-250 bucks. Even then, It Would be linear and Plain as all current fragrances are. After smelling this and tried it, one could say the following....what the hell happened with modern perfumery?

Talk about a classic! Krizia Mood Uomo is right up there with Givenchy Gentleman (1974) and Hugo Boss Number One as one of the greatest scents created. What seperates this from some of it's competitors is that it's not quite as known as the others. So it can still be bought for a relatively good price. Even though it's long been discontinued, stock is around and in excellent shape. If you love honey, patchouli, leather and cardamom then check this one out for sure. This is backup bottled worthy, and a true gem in the vintage fragrance world. Happy Hunting!

This work of art must be brought back A.S.A.P!!! Is Krizia nuts??? Hey, you fragrance houses out there, tell IFRA to go Fuck Off! Bring frags like this back and start a new trend that is badly needed in the fragrance world. Bring back creative freedom by not complying with their unlawful, illegitimate, bogus and communist "regulations". All it will take is one brave and rebellious fragrance house, and the rest will follow! Change the world!!! Make perfumery an ART again!

My bottle says edt but its a splash so be careful if your looking for edt spray The scent itself is fabulous. Im not very good when it comes to notes but this jumps right up there with the best. Pure quality. Shame it was ever discontinued. 10/10 Update. Get the splash. Its crazy, very very strong. Stronger than givency gentleman in my opinion Wife hates it tho,Says it stinks of old man

I have my dad's splash bottle of Moods By Krizia from 1989 (probably 30ml remaining). Just removing the cap and smelling...wow...so potent! That opening is sharp and gorgeous. What a beautiful, long lasting, masculine fragrance. I love this stuff...it's not a daily office wear, but I'll use it for special nights out or events. If you can find a bottle online, it's worth the buy.

Krizia Uomo reminds me of the first formulation of the original Perry Ellis for Men in its drydown stage. They share the same patchouli/leather structure forming a strong and exceedingly satisfying woody theme. The problem is, which one would you substitute for the other? The few remaining bottles of either are similarly scarce and expensive as of late 2016.

Ohh, wow! I'm now kind of fascinated by this juice. It's blended so well, I can appreciate the changing notes; so distintive! Pure quality! But..; the only thing is that the top note as 'distinquished' as it is; smells so 'off' to me; I cant' make it out. Musky from the beginning and some other things; but, the 'dry-down' is smooth, clean and beautiful.

This is wonderful. Great ambience, the spicy notes have space between them so this is not thick at all, even though there are many things going on at the same time. Hard to compare it to anything. This is one of a kind italian wonder. I do not know how it would smell with all the IFRA demands, but they should bring this back. 5/5

An exceptional quality blend. Similar to Givenchy Gentleman, but this one is more sophisticated and "suave". Elegance at its best expression. Separation of notes, exact volume and authority are the main facets of this gem. Highly, but highly recommend for leather and old school lovers. Pure patchouli class. One of the few 10/10.

Such a wonderfull fragrance. It's not a big hitter but it lasts for a day and has good enough presence. For me it also has a perfect and comforting oldschool smell. So a 10/10 in my book. I'm glad I found a 50 ml splash bottle but sad that it will be the last one I will ever have.

The opening and mid notes smell smell so much like a vintage Givenchy Gentleman! The only real difference is in their dry downs, where Moods has a nice warm spicy layer lingering over the patchouli. I LOVE GG and I certainly love Krizia Moods.
