Black Coconut

I just bought this today. I was recommended it by some people over on reddit, as I was looking for some coconut scents. Coconut is my favorite note, and I mean FAVOIATE of any scent. I want to drown in coconut. Not overly sweet, and not super tropical either. Just coconut. And I feel like this gets it exactly how I want it! The notes list on the site are as follows: Top notes: Toasted Coconut, Bergamot Middle notes: Jasmine, Cacao, Chocolate Base notes: Vanilla, Musk I bought the $11 3.7 ml roll on from WF. When I first smelt it, my first thought was sunscreen. Which wasn't the vibe I was going for, but I didn't hate it, so I grabbed it. I mean, it was $11, can't go wrong. I immediately put some on after check out, just a couple of circles on my wrist. I would like to say, I did already have some Coconut Water Eos lotion and a few sprits of Milky White by Dossier on. I've had perfume oils before, so I knew to let it set for a bit before trying to smell it. Perfume oils need to sit on the skin and mix with your body chemistry to get the full effect. (Although it labels its self as a "Fragrance oil", based on the ingredients, it is in fact a perfume oil) And I am so glad I waited. The scent is pure coconut. True, toasted coconut. It's just ever so slightly sweet, and the musk really comes through. It mixed very well with my natural body chemistry, laying on nicely. It almost completely lost that sunscreen/Tanning lotion vibe you get smelling it from the bottle. I went to my mom's house for a bit, and my younger sister could not stop smelling me, saying I smelt good. I put this on around 4:30 this afternoon, and now at 11 o'clock at night, I can still smell it on myself, Although, I will say it is much more subtle now. I would say that up until about 8ish, I could still smell it at an arms length. And a little goes a long way, as it will with an perfume oil. This tiny little bottle will last you MONTHS. I feel like this is the perfect base to layer with other products, or, in more intermate settings, on it's own. The combo with the Milky White and Coconut Waters seems to do very well. I would also say it would layer good with Dirty coconut by Heretic. If you have other coconut perfumes or body mist, it honestly will layer very well, even if the mist/perfume is more tropical or sweet leaning. It will truly just bring out that coconut note to the MAX. Overall, 10/10, perfect, could not recommend enough. On the Website, it is a little cheaper at $10.90 instead of the $11.40ish I paid in store, but after shipping it comes out to closer to $16 for me (Will differ based on location), so if you do buy it, I would try to get it in person, unless you are buying the bigger bottle. I believe only the smaller roll on is available in stores. They do also have a Black coconut lotion available, so I am curious to try that!

Kuumba Made is a brand I keep returning to....because in the market of Natural Perfumery, their products are superior. Simple as that. I had purchased their Black Coconut offering in probably 2022 and still continue to use it! A little goes a VERY long way! It is exactly what it says....BLACK Coconut! In this SIMPLICITY, however......lies an un-adulterated, no-frills, totally chemical-free essence of the most fragrant aspects of raw coconut one could ever hope to find. The truth is, many people who love coconut fragrance love ‘The Version of Coconut’ that has been manufactured to represent a more “commercially enjoyable” coconut scent by use of Aroma-Chemicals and other means....and when a person finally does have the opportunity to experience something like Coconut in its Natural State, it can often seem different than where a person has set their expectations. All that Aside, now on to the actual fragrance: The Black Coconut you will be experiencing is still sweet, but much much less-sweeter than artificial coconut notes found in nearly all other commercially manufactured & sold coconut products. I enjoy this quality very much. There is very little or NO “Lactonic/Milky/Creamy” aspect to Black Coconut. (Kuumba Made has a separate Creamy Coconut product that may be more your tempo if that is what you desire.) Black Coconut is very rich, and very bold, and very robust with some very serious staying-power! One or Two drops on back of hand, or wrist or etc will waft for hours and hours and on clothing could last days. I can say this having experienced this many times and I love it. The ‘darker’ plant material like husks, shell, etc, plus the ‘typical’ coconut plant material like the water, meat and milk were all used in the creation of this oil making it very unique and very pure, but also lends itself perfectly to the Darker/ BLACK coconut scent profile that makes this so very unique. VERSATILITY wise, Black Coconut is a masterpiece because of how it was made and what it was made from! I have used it by itself, I have used it to layer with alcohol-based EDP, I have used it to layer with Oil-Based fragrances, and I have used it as an additive to lotions to very great success!! I love how it interacts with Sandalwood, especially. Vanilla, of course...or fragrance or ANY scent profile that a person could conceive of that could use Coconut as an additive or layer!! The Verdict: M A S T E R P I E C E 🌴 🥥

Oh yay this has been added to the database! Black Coconut is a very natural intense coconut. Lots of olfactory/photo realism here. It is like you are smelling the husk/hull w/ a natural sweet coconut. It is not an overly creamy milky foody kind of coconut, does have an organic sweetness. Beachy, tropical sort of coconut. This is a GREAT layering oil or is very nice on its own. It also works well to increase coconut notes in other perfumes. Has fairly nice longevity. Easy 6-8 hours wear. Sillage goes up depending on how much you apply. Kuumba also makes one called Creamy Coconut - which retains a little more creamy milky quality, also natural smelling and very nice. Hopefully they will add that one and I will also add review.

I recently obtained a .5 oz bottle of this fragrance oil as part of a much larger order. It is indeed a coconut lovers dream. It is not a gourmand coconut.....it is more natural and less saccharine. If you have ever been to the Caribbean and have came across sun dried coconut husks, the “dark” part of the dark coconut gives off this sort of vibe. Very easy to wear nd very enjoyable to wear. As Butterbean pointed out, it is great for emphasizing a coconut note in a different scent or adding it to one that the designer perhaps overlooked. Concentrated, dense, long lasting excellence. The Verdict : Excellent

A coconut lovers dream! This fragrance oil is as it sounds. A ripe dark coconut with a thick delicious buttery pulp, sitting in the shade hidden away from the hot summer sun. Thankfully, this fragrance oil doesn't stray into the suntan lotion coconut scent territory I do not want on my skin. Honestly, I enjoy this Black Coconut so much, I even wear it in winter when I am thinking of summer. Wonderful layered with a vanilla fragrance. My only issue is the longevity. I wish they made this into a perfume so I could enjoy the delcious fragrance longer.
