Opium and Jasmine

Let me start by saying this is a dead ringer for YSL's Opium.. with one difference, a rich jasmine, and spicy orange blossom addition! The jasmine is very pronounced on first application, then just sort of melts into the whole wonderful experience. This is a robust incense based fragrance, resinous, and sticky. I prefer this to Opium as it is natural! The longevity and sillage are outstanding. Notes according to the Kuumba Made website: Double-flowering jasmine Orange flower Tuberose Patchouli

i love this fragrance! a deeper, sexier pacifica french lilac. i don't get a ton of spicy notes, and i don't get any candy at all—it's a deep jasmine, feminine and floral and sultry. i love it. note that i haven't smelled YSL black opium, so i can't compare the two fragrances. i honestly don't see what other negative reviews are talking about, but to each their own! vive la différence! edit: having owned this for three months now, i am less enamored with it. it is SO strong and gets cloying and almost suffocating the longer you wear it. the sprouts near my house sells kuumba made and i smelled tunisian jasmine the last time i went, which is much more fresh jasmine than this one. i maintain that at first whiff it smells like pacifica's french lilac, but does NOT wear like it at all. i wanted to like it so bad but i just can't!

This is a loud one! Definitely has that YSL Opium vibe but times a thousand. Very little discernible jasmine ... it’s just totally taken over by the spicy opium accord. I wanted to buy a bottle of YSL about a year ago because I had a random urge to add a heady, spicy, slightly old-fashioned frag to my collection, and I’m glad I didn’t. This definitely scratches that itch but at a much nicer price. It’s a scrubber today, though .. Just too much! Note to self to use sparingly.

It seems Kuumba have combined their Tunisian Jasmine blend and their Tunisian Opium blend. "Ladies & gentlemen, could I interest you in a spiced chai tea latte, brewed with rank jasmine petals, and two partially dissolved lumps of mothball? Hey! Wait! Why are you walking away...?!"
