Oriental Musk

Smells like vintage powder makeup! Specifically the Coty Airspun face powder (which uses its original vintage formula) but more complex. It's slightly spicy, yet very clean, yet sort of intoxicating from the powderiness (but in a really good way!!), and brightened up by something, I'm assuming the ylang-ylang and mimosa (notes listed on the actual kuumba made website). Most people voted this as a spring/summer scent but personally I love it most in the fall and winter - I think the powderiness goes to my head in the heat and it becomes a bit much, and I just dont love the feeling of an oil on my skin in warm weather. It was my signature scent last winter when I went to Florence, and I will be wearing it more again as the cold weather sets in. Love!

Ah, such warm fuzzy memories! The first New Age-y store I went to had a perfume and oil mixing station amidst the crystals and wind chimes. Way back then it was called China Musk, but the scent is the same. A "wet" musk, meaning a watery note with the soapy citrus (neroli, perhaps) rides over the clean musk, neither woodsy or animalic. When I smelled J Lo Glow, I knew Ms. Lopez had been around the same kind of mixing station!

This is lovely. My second favorite of Kuumba Made oils, only second to Persian Garden. It's a true, lovely oriental musk. Just soft enough, just spicy enough. It's beautiful, day or night, summer or winter, you really can't go wrong. If Samsara was a much quieter, more linear, simple fragrance, I think it would be very similar to Oriental Musk; for that I just love it!

Almost like a carnation or soft clove note, with a chalky orris root, and something thinly sweet. Funny, I don't get ylang. I'm okay with it, name and all. And I read and admired Edward Said's book, "Orientalism!" Added: A bit later, I do think that thin sweetness could read as a quiet, smooth ylang. And wearing Oriental Musk made me want to dig out my Ysatis travel spray, so possibly they’re related by ylang and a luxurious vintage feel. Makes me want to buy a small bottle of vintage Ysatis! Added: Oriental Musk has a very powdery dry-down.

This one definitely is a soft, warm musk that's just a little spicy, reminiscent of Alyssa Ashley Musk and The Body Shop White Musk (the oil version from the 90s). It's not exactly the same as either of those but if you like them, you'll probably like this too. Soft, warm and just a little sexy but still acceptable for daily wear. This would be great for layering and the price is excellent for musk lovers.

This is a lightly sweet musk, mostly clean but NOT "soapy", with lots of spice and just a hint of that "dirty sexy" musk note. It's not quite sexy enough for me to love, but it is a good choice for daytime wear. In small amounts it is "office safe". Longevity and sillage are good but not spectacular.

This is how a water nymph would smell. Soapy, fresh, green and a soft powdered sweetness.

A really pretty, baby-like musk. Something about this reminds me of Philosophy’s Baby Grace. They’re by no means dupes, but they share a vibe. Light projection and short wear time, but definitely a time and place for it. It really blooms on warm skin, so I’ll probably reach for this post-shower, just before climbing into bed to bask in that comforting, sweet musk. I’ve also worn this on a hot, humid day, and it grew just enough and kept me smelling fresh .. which makes it kind of a rarity. Most musky fragrances get too loud in hot weather; this stays light and pretty.

A soft, pleasant musk with soft, feminine spice. I used to go to a Thai massage place, and I'm 99% convinced half the girls working there wore this. It's nice, but it doesn't feel age or culturally appropriate when I wear it. Some scents are too tied to specific people and memories, and much like Old Spice or White Diamonds this one just doesn't belong to me.

this has a really nice sweet opening but the dry down is too dusty rather than musky.. not really my thing. gave it to my mom

I tried so hard to like this and layer it with others, but oh my god forgive me it just smells like old lady to me. Overbearing and powdery. I catch a wiff of it and it instantly ruins my mood. Just vile.

I love and own several of the Kuumba Made oils-- they are very high quality, super concentrated, and head & shoulders above most perfume oils (even Auric Blends). Oriental Musk is my favorite of them all! I was captivated when I first encountered this at Whole Foods and HAD to have it. Why? Because it smells EXACTLY like the original Alyssa Ashley Musk Oil from the '70s! (Alyssa Ashley has messed with the formula since then and new version is bad.) The moment I sniffed Oriental Musk, I was transported back to when my mom bought little solid-perfume compacts of Alyssa Ashley Musk, and they were my faaaavorite things in her purse. It's such a wonderful, clean, tender, powdery, comforting, natural-smelling musk. Not woodsy and smoky like Egyptian musk, not sharp and flowery like China musk or white musk. It's a "someone smells great but I'm not sure why" musk. DIVINE!

Lovely! This is the musk from Kuumba Made that I love the most. To me it has light citrus notes as well as sweet notes. Simple, clean and linear. I would definitely repurchase if I had the opportunity. On the other hand their egyptian musk smells a little indolic like it has some jasmine in it. -

This is the grown-up version of Jovan Musk (for women). It's a sweet and bright musk, very smooth and clean. It is nothing like Egyptian musk. It is also nothing like J. Lo Glow or China Rain -- those fragrances have a strong, sharp floral note. This isn't floral or sharp, just musky and sweet.

very simple, young yet mature lady smell. musky, sweet, clean, smooth. it doesn't give me headache but it gets boring after some time, i'd like a little bit of floral in there. that's why zen rain is my faaaavvvorite of all them.

This reminds me of the body shops white musk but a more natural and slightly less sweet version. Very pleasant but too light for me.
