Tunisian Opium

I was gifted this oil from an amazing and generous Fragrantican. It is such an intoxicating scent. I daubed a bit on my wrists, rubbed them together, and it was absolutely perfect. In 90-degree (F) weather, this is a fantastic fragrance, swelling into almost a gourmand spicy treat, but never overwhelming. I suspect it is made for the heat, as is the case with so many oils. I haven't been wearing it very long, but can't sense it fading at all. I suspect that longevity will be generous if not great. Silage is not overpowering, but passers-by (or those in your beautifully scented wake) will get a hint of something heavenly. I think this could be perfectly suited for the office those who like the heavier fragrances. It performs like one of the big ladies, but it's more refined in actual performance. An absolute winner!

Like a wonderful, spicy, clovey, chai tea. Very spicy. Smells like uber-spiced, milkless chai tea. Extreme longevity (as an oil) and sillage (despite being an oil). PERFECT for fall/winter. Like a spice bazaar in India, or this lovely tea shop near where I live. Very spicy oriental. Linear, as is to be expected from an oil. Very feminine, though not overly sweetened. I can't imagine this on a man There have got to be more notes than are shown in this pyramid! It's so much more rich, deep, and complex than they convey. This bears no relation to YSL Opium, except in that they're both spicy orientals. This really is an excellent brand. 8/10

Anyone comparing this to the great YSL Opium has truly never smelled YSL Opium. Ridiculous. Opium is not a sweet cola syrup like this. Nowhere near as sweet either. This is an amberry, cola syrup and myrrh beauty. I pair it with Dana Toujours Moi or Tabu. It's vintage 70s, hippie, incense burning in the back of a van that has shag carpet on the floor and the back seats remove. IYKYK

to me this smells like a 70's Balsam fresh shampoo and conditioner. ILOVE it

It's a bit aggravating that seemingly every spicy amber gets compared to YSL Opium. Tunisian Opium is billowy, creamy, and sweet. A heady, powdery, warm cloud of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, smoothed out with soft, colorless jasmine and Kuumba's black tea note. The base has dense "cola" myrrh, amber notes, musk, and refined patchouli. The chai tea comment is spot-on, this teeters into edible/gourmand territory without smelling sugared. Tunisian Opium smells pretty good, but not much like the opulent spicy ambers of yesteryear. Opium, Youth Dew, and Cinnabar are more sophisticated, drier, woodier, with citruses, floral bouquets, herbs, medicinal notes.

Basic, traditional opium scent that dries down with a touch of fluffy cinnamon. If you found this a little lackluster and flat (like I did), try Kuumba’s Opium & Jasmine. (BTW, O&J reminds me more of YSL’s Opium than this one, in case that’s the vibe you’re looking for!)

"Spices" means cloves. Lots and lots of cloves. Great value for the money if you want to radiate cloves for hours.

Very impressed with the quality of Kuumba Made oils! Way better than Auric Blends. Tunisiam Opium is a cola/clove/ginger/patchouli spice bomb very clearly intended to copy the original Opium by YSL. In the years after Opium launched, many fragrance-oil companies have made their own various "opiums," most of them awful. Tunisian Opium is noteworthy for actually being pretty good. I won't say this smells exactly like Opium, but it's essentially the parts of Opium I personally like (the incensey, gingery spices) minus the parts I dislike (the fecal, dirty-smelling florals in the base). Tunisian Opium is very pleasant and clean to wear, and you don't need much. (Even a tiny 1/8 oz bottle will last you a while.) A good office-safe choice for lovers of heavy-lidded classic Oriental fragrances.

It starts out quite strong and softens up later. It feels complex and I can see why so many people love it and have given it positive reviews on makeupalley. It's warm and cozy, but at the same time it smells a lot like soap to me with too much powder for my taste. I don't smell the pathouli, which is a good thing. It's just not for me.

i bought this because i love YSL opium....but it isn't what i hoped for. once when i was tending bar, i had to change the tanks for the coke-something went wrong, and i was sprayed with the syrup-this perfume has the same cola smell to it as when the sugary syrup dried-and that is all i can smell-sadly-cola syrup....

I blind-bought this because someone on Amazon complained that it smelled like “spicy old lady,” which is basically my dream. So far, I’m really enjoying it! It smells a little like an unsweetened version of Neutrogena Rainbath and I’m into it! Very soapy. A little spicy. Lovely!

Could I just say I love this fragrance so much. I have three kinds of Opium, and although it is not the original, I love the resemblance. Love this oil!

I had the essence oil, which used it in very special moments / I got from a friend / over and I was longing for this delicious patchouli!!!

YSL Opium (the original bottle) with more Coca-Cola and less smoke. Soapy and strong. A night in Andalusia...

Very plain alternative to the original opium. Masculine smelling.
