Vanilla Musk

I do not find that this smells much like Hypnotic Poison, but my skin tends to really make musk sing, so vanilla takes on a supporting role in this Vanilla Musk. If it had a touch of lavender as a guest star it would smell exactly like BPAL Antique Lace, actually. It is two notes that remain largely unchanged as it wears, so at 10 pm it smells the same as it did at 10 am; it does last at least that long on me! I think this one will be very nice for layering as well, but worn alone it feels like lying down for a nap on a warm summer day. The vanilla keeps the musk from getting too dry or sharp, which is appreciated, but it never veers into syrup-sweet territory. I think the almond, which is suggested but never fully there because of the carrier oil, lends some smoothness and creaminess between the pointy musk and the paste-y vanilla. I will try more from Kuumba Made for sure. ETA: The sillage is pretty good as well. If you're used to wearing perfume oils, I'd say that the sillage and longevity are about on par with the better performing fragrances from other indie perfumers who make oil.

This is my favorite vanilla musk and my second favorite by Kuumba Made (Amber Paste being #1). I love it alone and for layering. This is the softest sweet musk with powdery vanilla. After buying this I went back and bought another small size to carry with me and then went back again and ordered a larger size to keep at home! So I have two 1/8 oz and one 1/4 oz lol! It’s beautiful! After loving this one so much I bought a couple different vanilla musk oils from different brands. Well, they are not all created equal. In fact, some are just bad. Kuumba made has such great quality at such great prices. I also own Pearl by Sage M. Both are very pretty, but the vanilla and slight almond musk is way more apparent in Kuumba Made. Pearl is nice, but I find it to be a different scent. Seeing the Hypnotic Poison comparison makes me want to try them layered! I think they would really compliment each other. Now I know today’s SOTD!

Kuumba Made Vanilla Musk is like almond/vanilla laced Egyptian musk with traces of baby powder and civet. The opening has a very noticeable heliotrope-Playdoh quality which is either wonderful or repulsive depending on your musk-preferences. I really enjoy it. To me, Vanilla Musk is like the perfect crossroads of musk: sweet(almond vanilla), meets clean/powdery(white), meets earthy(Egyptian), meets skanky(civet). Personally I find it quite compelling, as it seems to be balanced exactly in the middle of the four musk extremes. if you want a "your skin but better" or pheromone type of scent, do not overlook Vanilla Musk. Sillage is surprisingly substantial, though the overall message it projects is wholesome and friendly. Giving.. Not standoffish.

To repeat other reviewers, this is a powdery dolly head, heliotrope, sweet playdoh musk. It doesn’t smell like almond to me- just a hint of cherry-like almond but with more floral presence much like heliotrope. This is the kind of musk I like- white musk that’s delicate & powdery, clean and sweet- not sharp nor intensely animalic. The vanilla is sweet and powdery and tingles my nose. Sure, it’s a bit synthetic, but I actually like that. If you like Pure Vanilla by Lavanila you’ll like this. It smells similar, only lighter & minus the patchouli.

A soft, comforting scent. Your-skin-but-with-some-vanilla. If this was my body's natural odor, I'd never complain again. I'd definitely say it's a safe work scent - not overpowering or with insane projection. I don't get play-doh at all. The almond isn't super strong for me, but is there. It's a well-balanced musk, not too mature, but the musk is definitely the star here. Worth a buy if you like vanillas or almonds that aren't cloying or super sugary. Just be a fan of musks as well.

This perfume oil is the smell of your hands after playing with play doh. I personally adore that and wear this whenever I want to feel clean and cozy. It sits pretty close to the skin unless you're hot and sweaty, so apply sparingly during the warmer months. If simple, straight-forward clean skin isn't your vibe then choose a different perfume oil.

This light little scent has hooked me...I am addicted. Smells like heliotrope and vanilla and musk. Very nice Play-Do scent that has me reapplying and sniffing like a crazy person! Similar to Hypnotic Poison. Love it. Ordered five for stocking stuffers, but guess whose stocking they'll end up in? Yup, mine for sure. :)

To me this is a lot more in line with JHAG Vanilla Vibes than Kenzo Amour. Amour is much softer and the musk is not nearly as prevalent, and there's a lot more going on in Amour than VV or this in my opinion. This scent just gives you what the name states: musk and vanilla, about in equal parts. Because of the musk (and the fact that it is an oil) it lasts FOREVER. And in warm weather it definitely can toe the line towards being too much, so definitely start small and add more if you need it. I like that this perfume is inexpensive, because with such a simple composition it makes so much more sense to spend less money.

Precisely what it says on the tin - vanilla + musk (+ a touch of almond). The result is a soft, sweet, gentle scent that is unlikely to offend even the most sensitive of noses. Sillage is mild, but longevity is acceptable (around 5-6 hours on my skin), with the musk lingering longest. Interestingly, it leaves a noticeable oily sheen on the skin unlike the other Kuumba Made rollerballs I own. Maybe it is not groundbreaking, but for the price, you’ve got a pleasant fragrance with decent performance.

Quite dreamy. It's so powdery, but not sickly sweet. It has the idea of a kitten snuggled up against you in a soft pleasant evening. I like this for my headaches as it isn't so stronge and heavy like Vanilla Bean. Plus, today someone said it smelled like waffles/pancakes. I don't smell much resemblance, but if you want a more delicate gourmand, leaning into powdery, roccoco essence, this is quite perfect for that. I likened it to the idea of The Last Unicorn 🦄

I like this! It has grown on me - not that I didn't like it at first, but it was a little bit more floral than I was expecting. But it dries into a soft vanilla with a hint of floral (to me)/powdery. Like, not straight or sweet vanilla like Spanish vanilla or vanilla bean would be. It's a great base for MANY different perfumes!

When they do surveys that say men are turned on by the scent of cookies, this is the smell they mean. It's fresh out of the oven cookies meets a loved one's cozy scent. For me, it's a once in a while scent, only when I'm trying to be a nice girl.

At first it was very very musk heavy and almost baby powder like, then the vanilla started to come through and softener it up a bit. Not bad but not the best, i prefer the Vanilla Musk from Nemat. Then i read a review saying it smelled like playdoh... now that is all i smell bc it totally smells like playdoh, especially the tub of it when all the playdoh is gone. Ive asked family what it smells like without telling them what it was and each and every one of them said theyve never smelled such a clear playdoh scent from something that wasnt playdoh. So there’s that lol

Powerful, long-lasting vanilla-musk fragrance. However...It's just not the kind of vanilla I like. This smells more powder than vanilla and I'm a sweet "gourmand vanilla" type of guy. This is far too...man, I don't even know...but THIS ain't it. Gonna have to pass this one on to a female friend. Great pricing, just not my kinda vanilla...

Play-Doh. This reminds me of that. I guess that is the almond note but that is all I get. My nose was trying to get a hint of vanilla & I think it was there but the almond overtakes it. Ugh. Of course, this might work well on someone else's skin but... I am really disappointed because I got this at the same time I got the Egyptian Musk and I just KNEW I was going to prefer the vanilla. Nope. The Egyptian wins on scent, longevity, and complexity. The Vanilla Musk should be called Almond Musk. Just for comparison, I normally wear scents in the powder/vanilla/tonka bean family. I love cashmere scents and used to wear Shalimar as my main scent. I have never really looked specifically for an "Egyptian" scent because I didn't ever think it was a class of scents. Interesting. It goes on light and doesn't get any stronger with my body heat. A tiny bit more of the vanilla seems to come out after an hour or so but that could be my imagining it. It's that light. This taught me not to be stuck on what I *think* works for me (vanilla) and to try new things. At least, I only got the small bottle of this. Now I know to get a large bottle of the Egyptian Musk.

My initial impression of Vanilla Musk by Kuumba Made at the store was of a light, airy vanilla. However, when I bought it online and tried it on my skin, it was a completely different experience. Unfortunately, I couldn't detect any vanilla. Instead, it turned into a powdery almond musk bomb. Though I love the scent of almond, it just doesn’t work on my skin. In this case, I think it was the musk that overpowered everything. I had high hopes for this fragrance, especially since I love Kuumba Made’s Vanilla Bean, which is a tried and true favorite for me. I asked my aunt, who has little to no knowledge of perfume and is prone to headaches from strong scents, for her opinion. She immediately said, “Ew. That’s too musky!” And she was spot on. To me, it also comes off as a more mature scent, possibly because it reminds me of Jergen’s original scented lotion, which is cherry almond and the lotion my grandma used to wear every day. I even needed to scrub this one off my skin, but even after washing, the scent still lingered. This fragrance, with it’s overpowering musk and mature vibe, didn’t match my initial expectations at all.

I only got sterile, powdery, white musk for a long while. There was so little vanilla that I assumed “vanilla” in the perfume name was an adjective describing the musk rather than its own note, but after a couple of hours the vanilla was technically there if I put my nose on my wrist. Overall this came off as childish and a little bit plastic. If you’re looking for vanilla notes, try their Vanilla Bean instead.

This smelled absolutely terrible on me. Plastic and synthetic. I did get the play doh essence everyone's talking about, but I didn't find that the least bit pleasant. Fortunately it did not cost much.

I bought Vanilla Musk a few months ago from the brand website, along with Vanilla Bean. I was expecting to like Vanilla Musk more, but once I tried them, it was the reverse. Vanilla Musk is very bland, nondescript powder with the slightest trace of sugarless vanilla. It's playdoh. And that's really all there is. It's not an interesting or statement-making powder... just very basic and soft. This oil is too plain for me to be worn solo, and will be only only for layering. I am a powder lover, and I was underwhelmed. It does NOT smell like cookies or civet. The reviews make it seem more complex than it is. (You really think they put civet in here?! It's a ten-dollar oil.) The projection of this scent is weak to moderate, but the longevity is very good.

I've been on a cheapie musk mission lately, and have been gathering tiny vials of musk to try out. Kiehls and Auric Blends have massive thumbs up from me, as on my skin they possess both clean and skanky attributes. Being a pasty white Brit, living in a mostly cold dreary climate, it takes a lot for me to feel 'exotic' ! These two musks are just the ticket to feeling warmer and wilder :) Also a big vanilla fan, so I thought Vanilla Musk would make a winning combination! But sadly it was not to be. It smells like babies. Big lotioned babies. Nothing wild or earthy here. If you like Dahlia Noir, you may dig this also (and it's cheap!)

Shout out to @UnearthlyApothecary for recommending this scent to me. I LOVE it. I bought the tiny rollerball and will upgrade to the larger bottle soon. I'm really tearing through this little bottle! Definitely playdoh, vanilla, almond musk. The vanilla is sweet and powdery and the musk is the perfect amount for me. Just SO good and so cheap. Best blind buy to date. My only complaint is that it disappears from my skin rather quickly, hence the reason for a bigger bottle.

Vanilla mixed with something from the vegetable kingdom that reminds me of celery. Nothing animalic whatsoever. Since it has "musk" in the name, I am forced to imagine that I detect musk. Well, okay, I guess so, but if so, it's a fresher version of the non-animalic white musk in White Musk by The Body Shop. But, a civet note??? Oh my goodness, no! You must be joking.

Soft baby doll head scent. Simple heliotrope/play doh scent. This is the updated packaging with the rusty gold cap. The older version with a black cap (as pictured at the top) was so much stronger and longer lasting. But that gave me a headache and this one doesnt so im very happy! Thanks so much rednut <3

It's not exactly powdery but its like a soft warm vanilla it kinda radiates around u when you wear it yet it isn't overly cloying if someone wanted a basic vanilla to wear casually this is it
