Darling 2021

I bought Darling 2021 a few days ago. The scent is warm, very pleasant with prominent notes of passionfruit, vanilla and sandalwood. The sweetness level is so perfect that it can be worn pretty much in any setting. I am very happy the flower notes are in the background. The scent is strong enough for someone sitting next to you to enjoy it, but it won't go any further. There are some differences about Darling 2021: different design, different perfumer, which, in my opinion, makes it a slightly different perfume. The old version was described as chypre floral, while the new one is an amber vanilla fragrance. This difference is noticeable because this is not how I remember Darling smelling 15 years ago. At first I couldn't put my finger on it, but that's because the new version doesn't have any chypre in it, therefore, it is softer and can be a crowd pleasing perfume. When the old version was released, I was 21 and found it to be a pretty mature and sharp fragrance,therefore,I never bought it. I am going to enjoy Darling 2021, though, I bought it for nostalgia nostalgia's sake, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it being more wearable than the original. I may buy another 75ml bottle (I paid 29 Euros for it). I don't know where the old version was made, but this one is made in Poland, not in France, for example, and it kind of shows. The cap is very tight, so when I finally took it off, it lifted up the gold sprayer and the fragrance started leaking. I hope others won't have this issue cause it's annoying. Overall, I really like it. Get one for yourself and your friend for Christmas :)

Darling means so much to me. I am such a major Kylie fan it’s ridiculous! I remember when the original Darling was released and when I heard that she was re-releasing it, I knew I had to get my hands on a bottle! This is warm and spicy, unlike the original Darling released in 2006! It is absolutely stunning, and isn’t as sharp or fruity as the original was famously known to be. Amber Wood, Vanilla and Sandalwood are most prominent and the fruity notes of the Passion Fruit start to come through after a while. It’s a very warm scent, and the Lily, Freesia and Boronia start to come through just as it’s settling down. It’s smooth, warm, spicy and the base notes shine through spectacularly while complementing the fruits and the floral heart. This is just divine and I’m so happy that Darling is back after all this time.

I saw a 30ml bottle for $10, and I like Kylie Minogue so it was a no-brainer. I didn't try the original, but honestly this is really nice. Tart fruit, vanilla, amberwood & sandalwood with a hint of something vaugly floral. Not too loud, not too soft off skin. Groundbreaking? No. But it's still a great scent, especially for the price. Despite not containing patchouli, I agree that this definitely evoke the same vibes as Mugler Angel albeit more light & fruity here. I love Angel, so this is definitely a nice option for when that one is a bit too 'heavy'. That being said, I personally wouldn't call this a dupe. General vibes aside, this doesn't have any of Angel's gourmand elements, trading them for tart fruitiness.

I really love this new version of the re relese of the kylie minogue darling 2021 perfume it smells so good and it's a eau de parfum and I also have the original darling 2006 but it's discontinued but I get her original darling 2006 from ebay and it's a eau de toilette but I been wearing both and they smell so different but there both beautiful the 2006 and the 2021 there both nice so darling 2006 is so fruity and flirty and light and young it's the younger sister and darling 2021 is fruity but nice and very strong and its more mature and its the older sister but I love both darlings 2006 and 2021

I really like this, almost love. The idea it gives me is that it's a women's aftershave cologne, in the best way like how a man's aftershave lotion can become warm and comforting. Not too creamy with just a touch musky/woody, Wonderful for the price, and the juice is a pretty pinkish amber and the bottle looks like angel wings. Can be worn anytime, when you want a laid back vibe. Almost signature worthy for me but it doesn't make enough of a statement and a little too gentle. After reading the other reviews I'm going to layer it with one spritz of Angle, see what happens. 8.5/10

So pretty a little cheapie! I caught it on a lady in a queue and asked what she was wearing, and she happily told me it was a Kylie Minogue perfume and cost her $15 (AUD) at Chemist Warehouse. I have been one of the Kylie faithful since the beginning, so I rushed off, and I've worn it on and off since. It's nothing mind boggling, but it is NICE. It is perfect for days when I just want to smell nice and be told I smell nice, vanilla fruity floral, not juvenile and not challenging. I wish I caught more boronia in it, such a heady scent, but it's yummy all on its own.

this is a sweet but gives me hairspray vibes I think the bottle is very cute and box love it! it this is a skin sent and it isn’t very loud the cap feels very nice and not cheap at all over all I love It and I am glad it came back I been dying to get one. 🥰

Love this fragrance its very sweet but not over powering. Goes on smelling like passionfruit and dries to a more vanilla-y / woody smell. Bottle feels well designed and the new cap makes it feel expensive. Good price point at $29.99.

Like the original Darling, the first scent note that I can separate is the passion fruit, but it is not nearly as strong as I remember it being in the original edition. The lychee is so mild that it is something that I can't always separate from the passion fruit, sometimes it seems more like pomegranate to me? I'm not familiar with bonoria and could never separate any florals whatsoever in the original, but I'm guessing that it is the nicotine-like scent here. I really like how this rich & darker floral bounces off of the sweet fruits and freesia. The listed lily and vanilla notes are also detectable in the background; I usually find lily chilly, but the gentle vanilla warms it up a touch. The narcotic darkness, patchouli and hint of vanilla dominate Darling, before it all gradually fades into a faint scent of something herby, envoloped in a musky sandalwood. The longevity isn't anywhere near as bad as the original's poor 1-2 hours body splash-like performance; it's still nothing amazing at 5 -6 hours, but when compared against the original, it seems like a designer perfume. Darling 2021 is something that I enjoy much more than I remember enjoying the original Darling. The fruit isn't so strong, so I can actually detect the boronia now - one of my biggest complaints with the original was with the underwhelming floral notes, so I'm thrilled that I can now get much more of an impression of them. I can't say that I'm enjoying it enough to feel the need to buy a backup whilst it's on offer, but I'm liking it enough to say that I'll keep an eye out for future offers when my bottle is empty.

I'm so glad this has been rereleased, it's given me hope that some of my other favourite perfumes like Lady Gaga Fame and Wonderstruck could be launched again in the future. The bottle on this feels more expensive than the original like the lid feels really heavy and the glass is pretty and shimmery. The perfume is a lot less fruitier than the original and seems to rely more on the vanilla and the creamy base, starts out a little fruity with the passionfruit then the lily comes through to make it a bit more mature. I've never heard of Boronia before so I've not smelt it so i can't say whether its a main note in this fragrance or not, The base is rather sweet and powdery and its the vanilla amber combination that is the main players in this perfume. the lasting power is about 4-5 hours and it does project quite well for the first couple of hours. For the price its really not bad and I'm tempted to ask for a few more bottles for Christmas this year as i can see myself getting through this quite quickly. I'm thrilled Kylie relaunched this and i hope some more of the original Darling like make a comeback too, I'll defiantly be keeping an eye out for the Dancefloor Darling perfume coming next year!

I bought a bottle at Chemist Warehouse today for $29.99, so the price point is fabulous! New version vs old version observations: the bottle no longer has the 'bottom' shape at the base of the bottle and is a pink, glittery opalescent colour rather than the original pink, opalescent colour. The lid is a different shape and the sprayer is gold rather than silver. The scent is reminiscent of the old version, but less fruity and more vanillary/woody. It is vaguely reminiscent of Mugler's Angel, leaning more to being slightly aquatic rather than it being a hardcore gourmand fragrance. I remember the old version had more projection - a friend of mine used to wear it when it first came out in 2006/2007 and I remember it had huge projection. The 2021 version isn't like that. Its not a loud fragrance, so it would be safe for work. I like Darling 2021 a lot. It's gentle and easy to wear. I'm happy to see a Kylie fragrance back on the shelves!

Sweet Darling’s older sister. Owned the original Sweet Darling, loved it, so when I saw this was excited but knew deep down it wouldn’t be the same. I agree with a reviewer below, this kind of isn’t sure what it is/ wants to be. It’s very hard to capture this scent, to pin it down or make out specific notes. Starts off with a note that makes you feel wet under the nose. This is prominent, wafts in and out during wear. It becomes sweet, airy, but also laundry fresh yet warms up yet is powdery and heavy, a slight coco mad vibe in the heavy note, a sophistication to keep it from being too juvenile. Lasts a long time on clothes not so much on skin. Only wearable in cool weather, anything warmer and this disappears in 10min. The best atomiser in my collection. Darling, all grown up but still figuring it out. 🩷💜🍬🧺🪻🤔

My feelings are up and down about this. When I first got it it was addictive. For some reason, I thought it had cherry in it. I now think I was just confusing the fruity notes. I rarely smell a litchi or passionfruit perfume I don't like. This is tart, fruity, and sweet with a strong vanilla note. It's classy and feminine. It lasts and feels just right for colder weather. The only reason I sometimes don't love it is because it can dry down into a powdery and perhaps slightly too mature or heavy smell. Overall, I think this is a good cheap perfume and a good safe work scent. It actually reminds of something else but, I'm not sure what. I don't think it's a very original fragrance. It is nothing like Disco Darling in its notes, vibe, or longevity so don't bother comparing the two.

As soon as Kylie posted this had been re-released I was straight out to get it. I remember adoring this back in the mid 2000’s and it not being one of those overly sickly fruity fragrances of the era. The re-release does not disappoint! It smells the same minus the hint of sickly fruitiness of the initial version, it’s like it’s grown up with us! I get all the warm, vanilla, sandalwood and florals of the original minus the early 2000’s fruity note and at only $30 a pop, you can’t go wrong! Thanks Kylie for reproducing this gem!

The sample is a nice portion, and I am very reminded of La Vie est Belle. I thought it would be more sparkling floral. Grown up wintry scent to me, and I get a touch of nicely-blended patchouli that is not mentioned in the notes. I have always liked Kylie -- I mean, she could handle Michael Hutchence, and she dealt with her health issues triumphantly. Would she wear this? I will try to grab the original for comparison. I need to look up boronia which I have never seen as a note before.

If you're looking for a softer version of Angel by Mugler, this is it. Not as sweet as Angel but definitely you get that patchouli not with slight sugary touch. A little fruity in the top notes, that goes away after about 30-45 mins for me and you're left with more of a musky sweet scent. Longevity is decent, price is ok and projection medium. Lasted about 4-5 hours with good projection, after that I have to look for it but can still smell it on my clothes.

I agree with most reviews here. I have both of them and they are 2 different perfumes. The old one is fruiter and sharper a bit more playful while the 2021 version is more Unisex, mature and more settled -- Vanillary, amber and woody. Its hard to say which one is better and they are not the same even the design of the bottle. Wonder why Ms Minogue would name both of them the same?

So glad this is back! The new lid is so much more expensive feeling than the last one! The perfume itself is very similar to what she used to be but smells like a little bit of Katy Perry’s killer queen has been thrown in there as well.

I bought it because I’m a big Kylie fan, and I don’t regret it one bit. It’s fruity, it’s floral, it’s vanilla-sweet. The only negative thing I can say about it is its longevity. I just wish it lasted longer on the skin.

I swear there’s patchouli in this one! Just a heads up if you have a hard time with that particular note.

I received this as a free gift with my order from Scent Beauty! Also, I want to preface this by saying that I've never tried the original Darling. The only thing I really enjoy about this fragrance is that lychee-passionfruit opening, because once it fades into the heart it sharply veers into powdery old church lady territory. After a couple hours of sharp powderiness, it fades into a creamy vanilla sandalwood base. Darling reminds me of Dolly Parton's Scent From Above and Kylie Jenner's Cosmic. Some have said that they pick up on a patchouli note, which I don't get at all. Longevity is not terrible, and this projects well until the heart really settles in and it becomes a skin scent. Overall it's not really my thing, but it was free so I can't complain. Might need a few more wears to see how I feel.

So for me when I first spray this I get something a bit sharp and floral and then it settles down into a really pleasant fruity floral scent. I enjoy the passionfruit & warm amber note. The bottle is pretty, with its shining pink & gold sprayer. The lid makes it look a bit cheap. Almost no lasting power to my nose. Nice cheapie, only paid around £6 for it, but would not re-purchase.

Decent for a celebrity perfume I’d say for older people maybe 40+ I still feel to young to wear it prefer the disco one altho this is still a nice perfume I’d say 6/10 disco 7/10 maybe just a bit too musky for me

This is very sweet, nothing to dislike but staying power, projection and longevity is so poor! More like a body mist imo, spray and gone. For this reason alone wouldn’t bother with again.

Please take me back to 2008. This is not the same scent. It used to be so zesty and character driven. Full offense to the new perfumer. Why bother making an Angel dupe? Have we not had enough of those in the market? The new bottle doesn't gleam with tinges of purple like it used to. Quite disturbed by how cheap it looked, especially that new bottle cap! The whole point of the original T bottle cap was that it was easier to take off. I can't believe I've lived long enough to see my favorite popstar drum out a nostalgic cash grab.

Meh. Just another generic celeb fragrance, same cheap smell as the Sarah Jessica Parker one. I never wear this and got it as a gift. Not worth the bargain, it's still just a waste of money. Sweet but in a weird way, the blend of notes is easy to over spray but also doesn't last long so it's difficult to wear. give this a miss if you can.

Smells nothing like the original. Totally disappointed - i don’t see the point in reformulations. Just bring a new scent with a new name, that‘s it. Don‘t eff up the good scent. The original Darling was indeed an original scent. This one is just boring.

Not a bad smell exactly but it smells like jelly babies but possibly less sweet? It's a while since I've smelled it but it's quite bland

This is quite bad, I would not even call it a distant cousin of the original EDT, imo it has nothing to do with the old one, should not even be called Darling. I bought the new version hoping it would be at least a bit similar, what I got is cheap and sweet perfume I would never ever wear. I found a full bottle of the old formula in Salvos so I am very, very happy! It smells way better on my friend so she got my bottle ;)

Nothing like the original Darling, they butchered darling and I will never get over it. The original (which has its own dedicated fragrantica page) was absolutely incredible and I’m so sad it was continued and reformulated to smell like not even a shadow of itself.

I was pleasantly surprised by this little bargain! Boronia is one of my favourite smells and I'd never encountered it as a fragrance note, so I had to check it out. I picked up a 30ml bottle for $10. The bottle feels nice in hand and has a fantastic spray, pumping out a generous serve of juice in a fine mist. I'm not a huge fan of the opening, it's a little generically sweet, but that boronia comes through in minutes. Sillage doesn't seem like much, but I'm not really interested in that aspect of perfume. I want to love my perfume, I'm not interested in others smelling it unless I give them a hug. Longevity isn't very good on skin, but it's one of my longer lasting scents on fabric. I've taken to spritzing the edge of my pillow with Darling right before bed and really enjoy catching a whiff whenever I wake up. I never smelled the original and I'm kind of glad as I can just enjoy this now for what it is and not compare it to something inaccessible. I definitely foresee a larger bottle of this in my future.

Sweety little thing in the ubiquitous amberywoody style smell du jour that is like background static. This is quite a light version with fruity lily. I didn't get much else from it. I never smelled the original so idk how far this is a disappointment from that, or if it's an acceptable reminder. It's just, OK. Not the worst xmas gift I've ever had by any means, but not v exciting. Whatever boronia note is like it was fossilised in amber here to no real purpose. I gifted this on to my neighbour, who is happy with it. Actually very good for the price, I'm just being a bit spoilt.

i dont care if its not exactly like the original darling, i was SO HAPPY WHEN i saw it yesterday in a RANDOM store here in sweden who dont have like classy stuff on their shelfs, and i just WHAAAAT saw it standing there for a low price i was like must have been looking like i was in a trance or something lol. i didnt know she ha re-released it,even thoug its not the same perfume. but i can still smell the original darling in it. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

I have both Darlings too. Both perfumes are related through the dry-down, which is very, very pleasant! I also find that the former Darling is, in fact, the "younger darling" - more potent, luminescent, explorative, even daring, and the "mature darling" nowadays is more self-reliant, less provoking and just enjoying life. The staying power of the former Darling is a bit better, though. Still, I see why both are Darling, just like me before and now ;)

This is great! I think a little less sweet than I remember the original being, but still really great. This starts very passionfruit-y and dries down to a a vanilla-y honey smell; I think I’m getting a honey smell out of the amber wood. A single spray faded down to a skin scent within around two and a half hours, but considering the price point I wouldn’t be worried about having to overspray!

I spritzed this on the back of my hand today while waiting at the checkout at Chemist Warehouse. First reaction: too sweet for me. Toothache in a bottle. After an hour or so, in which there were some interesting nuances, it eased itself into a pleasant powdery vanillic sorta thing, still sweet but much more tolerable. It's well done, but just not for me. I never smelled the original.

To me, this is a way sweeter and less long-lasting Belle d'Opium. Basically, I really only smell lily and wood, just like I only smell lily and wood in Belle d'Opium. Interesting, because when first sprayed, it honestly reminds me of Angel Sunessence 2007. But then that fades, and yeah. I really enjoy this tbh, and at the price tag, reapplying isn't really an issue.

got a full size from ross for only $8 so couldn't pass up! more mature than what i like, but not terrible. to clarify, i've never smelled the original so i have nothing to compare to.... i unfortunately get more woody than fruity, but i've had woody fragrances that just give off pencil sharpener shavings to me, and luckily this did not give those vibes!

I don’t know why people are getting upset about this not being the same as the original?? To me it’s pretty much the same fragrance but less sharp and strong. A better, updated version IMO, I think most people who didn’t have a thing about fragrances would not notice the difference.

Dont know what to think about it. Rich and complex scent, but too heavy, maybe is still too worm for it. British in a rather Indian way, than Australian. Recalling Mrs Sunak, not Kylie Minogue.

This is nothing like the first version of “darling”. Older version was so yummy,litchi smell. Now it’s smells just like hair spray. Not worth to buy at all

My aunt had this who sadly passed away it's holds memories for me and it's still nearly the same when I smell it now always have a bottle

For me , this is like a baby of TM Angel, Gucci Rush and Coco Mademoiselle
