Bonbons à La Vanille

I had a sample of Kyse BonBons a la Vanille from an order I had gotten a few months ago and put it in my closet without smelling it and forgot about it. Fast forward to last week when I was playing with some of my samples and this was one of them. I put a little on my hand and smelled it (not expecting much because I like vanilla but have never been blown away by it)..and kept smelling it, and just could not stop smelling it. I ran into the living room all excited and asked my husband to smell it and asked if he smelled the gorgeousness that I had smelled, and he said that it smells like vanilla ice cream to him, which is just fine because I am a gourmand lover. But I was getting more than ice cream. I was getting that little bit of musk also that grounds the perfume and it was heavenly. Went to visit my parents the next day and they kept telling me how good I smelled! When I called them the next day my mom told me that I had smelled so good (again, LOL!) when I had come to visit and I told her about Bonbons (and am thinking about getting her a bottle for Christmas!). I am now obsessed with Bonbons a la Vanille and have found the vanilla that I will keep in my collection forever, as long as it's made. I have the 30ml and the body butter on the way to me, and I want everything I can get in this scent!! It is described as a grown up vanilla candy on the website and that is exactly what it is, and oh my gosh it lasts forever on me! It's pure heaven!

My bottle is about a year or 2 old, and the juice is a deep amber color. Strong, sugary, and inviting. A toasted, brown sugar, cocoa powder vanilla cloud in the same vein as Maria Candida Gentile’s Noir Tropical. But this is airier, more brown sugary, and with a slightly marine, almost metallic musk only perceivable when pressing nose to wrist. Like freshly showered skin the evening after an entire day spent at the coast, clean but still with a slight tang of sea salt. I’m smitten. The projection is strong, over an arms length. I am typically an over sprayer, but for this I only use 3 sprays max. After I put this on for bed the other night, it was radiating several inches from my wrist the next morning. My bottle of Bonbons à la Vanille is the fragrance for a bronze summer diva dancing through a string of summer dalliances along a sunbaked coastline. It’s playful and decadent like licking maple syrup off your wrist over room service in bed; but just airy enough to keep from becoming cloying. The beast mode projection and longevity make it strong enough for sunset happy hour or an afternoon wandering around town. Uncomplicated and carefree, but addictive. ☀️🧁🍭👙🍩🍬🪩

Omg, YUM. This very well might be my favorite “plain” vanilla fragrance. I first encountered it in a free tube of body cream when I made a Kyse order, and I have been savoring it, cherishing the scent (plus the body cream itself is divine). I made another order and asked if I could be given a sample of Bonbons in fragrance form, and Terri sent it! I think it works better as a lotion as it has the skin note and that’s where you put lotion. When I first sprayed the perfume, I might have made a little confused face as I was used to this scent laying on and blending with my skin, not wafting in the air around me, but I quickly got accustomed to it and used my sample up in less than 48 hours. My MIL said she smelled cinnamon, asked what I was baking from the other room! (Kyse has astounding sillage and projection.) A woman at work said I smell like brown sugar. All in all I adore Bonbons and hope it’s never discontinued or I’ll have to stock up. If the perfume isn’t your thing, the scented body cream might make it make sense. I personally wish more fragrances did this formula, a main note and then a skin note. Or add strawberry to this mix? Omg yes.

I’ve both sampled and own many from this house, not all but most. This one out of all, so far, remains my favorite. This is a delightful, beautiful, grown and sexy, vanilla, musk. Musk isn’t listed as a note but guessing the oak moss combined with the skin note is creating that. If you happened to wear “Vanilla Musk” in high school in the 90’s like me and still love vanilla’s and soft musks—like Egyptian musk or white musk, you’ll likely prefer this. I’m a healer and licensed massage therapist, this scent is inoffensive yet projects and gets compliments. I was wearing this layered with Bianco Latte after a long day of sweating and working on on clients. I stopped to get gas on the way home and the receptionist said I smelled so good, like vanilla and asked what I had on. I adore this scent. I’m almost done with my bottle and plan on restocking cause I like her that much. She’s signature scent worthy, also great with layering. I want to try her with Alien. I also don’t find this too heavy for summer nights or Miami “winter” weather.

As a vanilla lover who leans heavily towards gourmands, this is one of the best vanillas I've smelled. It's got some wood in there for a touch of depth and interest (just a touch), without taking over and making it too masculine. Perfect amount of sweet. I much prefer this to cologne of the missions, and I also prefer it to Molinard's Vanille. It's not so cookie-frosting as Comptoir Sud Vanille extreme. It does not have the burnt caramelized note that is common in many vanillas, nor does it lean towards root beer. I mainly get a thick vanilla, a tiny bit of wood, and a touch of sugar. I want more of this. Update: I had this on fabric, and the next day, I noticed the musk. Lasts at least 24 hours on fabric. I put it on my pajama sleeve so I can enjoy it thru the night and not compete with other smells. In the early morning, it reminds me of chocolate, but during the day, it's straight vanilla.

I love this one! It's sweet, creamy vanilla with some muskiness. Performance is good for me as well. I have Tihota and can say they definitely smell similar, especially in the dry down. I just got my bottle of Bonbons so I'm going to let it macerate for a month or two. Edit/ after decanting 5ml for my friend and letting it sit for over a month, it's definitely stronger and I get a ton of vanilla with musk. And now it smells like 95% similar to Tihota. I love it. Edit/ it's been 9 months since my first review. The juice has aged nicely! It's a stronger and creamier vanilla now, with musk in the background. When I test this and Tihota side by side, one on each wrist, they still smell 95% similar to me. But Tihota's musk is just a little bit stronger. But both are beautiful and staples in my collection.. I layer them with pretty much everything!

I never understood the idea of aging a fragrance until I tried Bonbons à La Vanille. When I first received it, there was no detectable vanilla on my skin. All I could pick up was the "warm skin scent" base, which smelled like straight up hot dog water on me. I chalked it up to my chemistry. After two months, the fragrance deepened in colour to a golden hue. Gave it another shot and WOW! This is an intoxicating, luxurious vanilla caramel candy with a sexy heat from the musk. It's almost steamy. The last time I was this impressed by the blending of a vanilla-based perfume was when I bought my bottle of Christian Dior Hypnotic Poison Extrait de Parfum. Please don't judge this one until it's had some time for the vanilla note to fully emerge.

This is lovely and comforting. Sweet vanilla comes through most prominently, along with a skin musk-like quality. When I saw this had a Peru balsam note I was a little nervous, but it isn't overwhelming. I perceive it as a slightly woody and amber-y smell that blends well with the other notes. I get about ~8 hours of longevity with low to medium sillage. This and Delizia di Marshmallow are my two favorites from Kyse at the moment. Note: I smelled this side by side with Tihota and I didn't find them to be that similar. Although, take my experience with a grain of salt, because I'm in the minority of people who get a strong incense note from Tihota. Both are great perfumes.

how have I not reviewed this before when this is my favourite vanilla that I've had for 4.5 years ...better than accident a la vanille, better than tihota (which is similarish but more musky). This is rich, not too bournony, not too sweet, not too musky.. it's balsamic vanilla In my top 5 ever and only gets better and better with age. If you like the vanilla that is in lune feline or the vanilla part of guerlain bosca vanille you will also probably like this. This is not cheap or novelty. This is grown up vanilla. The vanille fumee is a little more playful and lactonic as is coco a la vanigilia special!

Um, I can't believe no one has pointed this out but Bonbons a la vanille smells like Tihota. They are both vanilla & musk blends. I own both. Now that I'm wearing them side by side, I feel a little duped about how much I just spent on my bottle of Tihota. One slight difference is that Bonbons is just a hint sweeter than Tihota. At times, it can become a bit of a saccharine sweetness. I'll update to compare the longevity of both. UPDATE: I like both but now that I've let Tihota settle after traveling in freezing temps, I do think Tihota is next level.

I love this little beauty. Yummy, cozy, sweet but not overly sweet. It's an all year round vanilla. Great for layering with other perfumes. I have a few from this house and this one is my favourite. Yes it does smell a lot like my beloved Tihota but just in the opening. The drydown is a bit musky and the peru balsam note is prominent. Those who love vanilla perfumes would love this. Safe for blind buy if you love gourmands. I love it as a bedtime scent as its so comforting. A solid 9/10

Here to confirm the similarities to Tihota! There is a SLIGHTLY floral element added that tihota doesn’t doesn’t have - but they are both the same warm, chewy, caramelized vanilla pod, and getting whiffs throughout the day gives the exact same impression!! Longevity and projection can’t ever compare to the beast mode that tihota is on though, this is much more humble as a beautiful personal skin scent. Delicious!

Heck YES! This is so so so so so SO good! I feel like I've been searching for this scent for SO long. It's such a delicious sweet vanilla musk. It reminds me a lot of Tihota and VS discontinued Vanilla Lace - but it's better than vanilla lace. Honestly, I know Tihota has so much love, but I think this is better on my skin. There's a weird stale root beer vibe with Tihota on my skin - but Kyse works perfectly!!!

I can immediately tell why this is a popular scent. You can't go far wrong with vanilla. I'm puzzled why I can't pick out the distinctive smelling Peru balsam. It's a sweet comforting vanilla with a sexy musk and a little balsam twist. The sillage on me is at best average but it does hang around a good while. Like most Kyle scents it does smell a little artificial.

To my nose this is Vanilla Noirè My Perfumes Select. I can’t wait for it to mature. I usually get something from Kyse, spray and put away for a month or two. This is so far my favorite of the Kyse samples I purchased -- and that's saying a lot because I've loved every one of them. This is a very sweet vanilla tempered by a little wood, just enough to give it some real character vs. immediately thinking, "oh, sweet." I'll probably have to buy a full size!

Kyse knows vanillas and gourmands. Bon bons is perfectly sitting on the balance of a musky sweet vanilla. Its just right. A easy wear. I have the perfume and hair mist. Just wonderful.

Damn, the Vanilla smells good (even edible) in this simple scent -- never underestimate the power of good ingredients!

Bonbons a la Vanille is an interesting blend, the second extrait-strength vanilla release from Kyse in 2018, following the earlier Benjoin Vanillee. Bonbons is a fairly straightforward blend of Tahitian vanilla, Peru balsam, and a skin scent accord That last one in particular caught my attention, and I wasn’t exactly sure what I had in mind when hearing it, but it comes off kind of a soft, musky twinge to accent the vanilla and balsam. Overall, it’s a creamy vanllic mix complemented by a sort of musky, ever-so-slightly animalic undertone that rather softens the entire experience and makes it seem less like a pure gourmand but rather a more delicate vanilla fragrance. It’s really quite impressive, in that respect. Certainly Kyse is no stranger to vanilla fragrances, but I enjoy each variant. This is certainly less biting at the very opening than Benjoin Vanillee, and goes from being extremely sweet in the initial blast to being more balanced with the skin accord in the dry down, and in that respect, is sort of the opposite of Benjoin Vanillee, which opens loud and acerbic and then calms down to a more resinous blend in the dry down. Like Benjoin Vanillee, this extrait-strength Bonbons a la Vanille is pricier than most of Kyse’s standard EDP offerings, at $100 for 50ml in a nicer glass bottle or $100 for 100ml in a plain glass refill bottle, with a smaller size available at the same rate, at $60 for 30ml. Still all very reasonable, than $2 per ml rate being more than reasonable for independent perfumery product. This is another one I’m going to continue to try out and compare to perfumer / owner Terri Bozzo’s other scents in the catalogue, but it’s nonetheless a fairly easy winner to me. 7 out of 10

Bonbons à La Vanille reminds me of a super dense & rich vanilla pound cake with the graham cracker crust being just slightly burnt. This closely compares to Indult Tihota however the major difference on my skin is that Tihota is a muskier pure vanilla scent while Bonbons à La Vanille is more heavier, smokier & woodier vanilla. Also I must mention that Bonbons à La Vanille has a bit of a candle waxy vibe to it - as if the wax of a vanilla candle was burning. Personally, I prefer Tihota just because I like the simplicity of just a rich vanilla dominant scent & I don't care for the smokier & woodier vibe I get from Bonbons à La Vanille HOWEVER for the price point you cannot go wrong! Tihota is a pretty penny and if you are looking for something that will hit the spot I think Bonbons à La Vanille is a good buy! On my skin it lasts awhile & the sillage is amazing - better than Tihota for sure! I would say this is smack down unisex but can seen more men gravitating towards Bonbons à La Vanille because of that more smokier woodier vibe. However...I wont be repurchasing another bottle. I will though 100% be buying Kyse's Bonbons à La Vanille body butter moisturizer - they are the best smelling & moisturizing body butters I have ever tried and this will layer beautifully with Tihota! Honestly, Kyse's body butters don't get the hype they deserve!

I’ve been on vacation, when I returned home yesterday I had a Kyse sample parcel waiting for me. Last night I sprayed Bonbons a la Vanille, and I can still smell it this morning. What I appreciate is the straight forward presentation. After the opening, the sweetnesss seems turned down and it’s a dryer vanilla with some depth added by musk. The perfect vanilla on its own, as well as layering though I hardly ever do. If you’re looking for a vanilla scent that doesn’t go in a gourmand drydown direction, this might be your ticket. Tahitian vanilla used here is very good quality.

First impressions (dabber): @caleb001. YES you’re so right. It smells like Tihota. It’s right in the family of like a vanilla lace by Victoria secret. IMO. Edit 1: Wait compared to Tihota on my other hand. Tihota smells more fuller and sweet. This one has a strong woody, or skin smell. Interesting. Idk which one I like better. Edit 2: I’m gonna have to give both Tihota and this one a pass for my signature. This is nice but since I got the dabber to me this is a very intimate vanilla, I wish it was stronger.

Unique vanilla with what seems like a leathery note. Not too gourmand, but enough to lean that way. Slightly smokey, low sillage but lingers for hours. The Balsam comes through, which I enjoy and it gives the vanilla character, so it is not just "basic". Wafts in the air and the scent bubble is enjoyable and comforting. A little weaker than I would like but still a great perfume that is not cloying and can be reapplied. 8.5/10

A nice, but kind of standard vanilla fragrance. It has a bit of a clean scent from the peru balsam but it’s pretty faint so it doesn’t overpower the vanilla. This smells pretty similar to Nemat Vanilla musk which is just a little lighter. It has minimal sillage and lasts about 6 hours on me. I also saw that this was compared to Maison Mataha Escapade Gourmande which I find much deeper and sweeter and not clean smelling at all.

Syrupy, savory vanilla. This has a thick, viscous aspect to it. And it really is quite pretty. It’s got an almost dark side to it thats very intriguing and sexy. I imagine this would be worn by a femme fatale type. A little too shady for my tastes, but masterfully done.

Initial sniff from the bottle gives a wonderful, warm vanilla vibe. However, on my skin, I get straight up Duncan Hines French Vanilla cake batter. Yummy yes, just not quite as interesting to my nose as some of the other offerings from Kyse Perfumes.

Simple, lovely vanilla in the same vein as Victoria Secret Vanilla Lace and Amoure Liquide (until my bottle aged poorly, i.e. lost all scent). Nothing ground breaking. Wears close to the skin and very pleasant. Definition of a sweet skin scent.

First impression: it smells sweet & fairly nice & kinda pretty but definitely not enough to make it worth buying, especially not at this price point. It's a fairly, faint scent with mild-to-medium sillage but, surprisingly, the musk notes still have a really amazing longevity because, 4 to 5 hours later (even after washing my hands multiple times), even though all the other notes were gone, I could still smell a faint, musky powder on my skin. It should be noted that the musk used in this fragrance is a bit more musty and animalic than I personally like but I know others who enjoy it. If you enjoy fragrances with strong, animalic musk & a hint of sweetness, you will definitely enjoy this. (Neither my hubby nor I can stand animalic musk so, on a personal level, it's a definite no for me).

So as a fan of gourmand vanilla scents I ordered this. It’s very expensive if you get a big bottle. It has a very masculine vibe to it in the dry down, and a complicatedness that I like, but it’s not my favorite vanilla ever. So that would be Vanille West Indies, which is more caramel syrup like, more thick, more floral, and has way more projection. This is nice, cosy and a masculine because of the woody notes. Prices are comparable so I’d go for VWE. I gave this to my husband. It’s a very good scent for men or masculine scent lovers in general.

smells almost exactly like VS Vanilla Lace, holding onto it to see how the vanilla matures

I decided to try bonbon ala vanille by Kyse today. The vanilla smelled great but the balsam note or skin note that is listed in the description just didn’t jive with me. I had to wash it off after about 20 minutes. It would swing wildly from deep vanilla to sickly sweet, resinous and medicinal. I’m pretty bummed about that. Still on the hunt for a strictly boozy vanilla.

I was expecting this to smell like Tihota but it smelled really bad to me, like burning plastic. I have smelled this sort of vanilla before and it's present in Demeter's "Cupcake."

This fragrance is simplistic yet intriguing. I ordered a full bottle of Delizia di Marshmallow in May along with a few other samples. I sprayed this one when I received it and wasn’t blown away so I set it aside. Earlier this month (October) I revisited my Kyse samples. Decided to do one every evening to really give them a try. I was instantly in love with this one. I sprayed it on my T-shirt after my shower and it lingered all night. I kept getting whiffs of a very sexy and delicious vanilla. When I say sexy I don’t mean overtly sexy, like stiletto heels and red lipstick sexy. This is a subdued, don’t need to shout it out sexy. An intimate delicious sweet sexy. I immediately ordered a full bottle. This one definitely needs time to reach its full potential but once it does it’s to die for. I can understand the comparisons to Indult Tihota, but I can’t do the musk in Tihota. This one is a much softer musk. Love it, highly recommend.

This thing lasts forever. I've been getting sweet whiffs of it all day. To me it's not as sweet as I was expecting, but it's still very sweet. Less sweet than Delizia di marshmallow. It's a very warm and soft kind of atmosphere I get from this. It's very comforting if that makes sense. I thought it was a very strong scent that sticks close to the skin, but my sister walked by and told me I smelled amazing, so I assume there's a tiny bit of a cloud that it creates. I really like it! Edit: Okay, after having it for a couple more days I wanna update this. This thing lasts forever. I sprayed a shirt a couple of days ago when I first got the perfume, and it still smells heavenly today. And the scent transformed from a sweet vanilla to a beautiful deep vanilla and musky scent. I think I like this one more than Delizia

I've tried most all the scents from this home made line and this particular one wasn't all that. I think there are way better vanilla scents out there but if she isn't on vacation or her budget website is online, I suggest you try the oui plus chocolate scent. It's probably the best one over there. There is one with a raspberry on it or something beware, that one smells like a pack of male unneutered cats finished spraying. Anyway, I'm don't sampling scents here. The homemade labels fall off the second week and the prices were jacked up 500 percent as if this is Dior. It's best to move on to a line that is dependable and reliable.

at first I was skeptical to get this because it got mixed reviews. some say it doesn't last some say it's beast mode. I blind bought it and It's a beast mode for me! I smelt my self the whole day 15h shift, the scent dissapears sometimes maybe I jist get nose blind from how strong the projection is and it get's more sweeter at the end of the day first you get sweet woody vanilla and as it settles I got sweet sweet milk chocolate/vanilla. too sweet. some don't like that but me, I love it! I'm happy I bought it. I sprayed 4-5 on my clothes. I need a second bottle asap!

This is a great vanilla. I am not the largest fan of vanilla for vanilla sake alone; however, I do enjoy wearing this one alone in the winter. I also really like mixing this with other perfumes to add warmth. For example, today I layered this with alien by mugler and it was phenomenal. This perfume lasts a long time and has average sillage. I would say it is a very good purchase for value. Also, the nose is super helpful and considerate. Highly recommend. 8/10

Love this one...my favorite of the Kyse line right now. I get beautiful vanilla and musk...will have to revisit to discern the balsam. Terri has done an excellent job building her line the last couple of years and her 2018 and 2019 releases have been really well done and nicely developed...she has grown as a perfumer and this is reflected in the line's newer releases imho. Great work!

Cookie dough and... gasoline? This is kinda weird, but I don’t hate it. The vanilla really falls to the side of “edible” or “baked goods”, which I love but there’s a background note that reminds me of gasoline? It’s synthetic and sharp. That being said, I kinda love it. It’s like a vanilla for weird girls! Not sure if I love it enough for a FB but it’s fun!

As a Tihota Lover this is not Tihota, this smells similar .. if not the same to the black vanilla shampoo scent from carols daughter.. this a sweet vanilla shampoo scent.. it has a bitter shampoo undertone. This also smells like vanilla potion that find at tj maxxx. I’d say this and VP are cousins .. and this and the CD scent are sisters!!

This smells like the super intense version of Tihota. After 14 hrs this fragrance smelled like I had just applied it! The longevity is unmatched and the projection is astronomical. I’m not a gourmand lover but this truly is an incredible gourmand vanilla

This is a really typical, classic vanilla but it's done better than most and it lingers FOREVER. When I get a good whiff I actually get white chocolate? It's delicious. One of the best performing vanillas I own.

Nice fragrance but longevity is zero on me. I don't know if it's my chemistry, but today's fragrances don't have the lasting power to justify the high prices.

This is the most edible and luscious vanilla fragrance ever! I ordered a 6ml but definitely ordering the large size next. Omg! It smells so good!

I'm another one that gets an exact Tihota dupe out of this. Lovely, but same-y. I'm not complaining, if it's cheaper.

Duncan Hines buttercream frosting and Starbucks cakepops. It's a vanilla's vanilla. It's okay.

Really good dupe for the vintage VS Vanilla Lace. Smells almost identical side by side.
