Vanille Debauche

Ohhh, this is really wonderful! This is the most realistic vanilla pipe tobacco I've ever smelled... if you've visited cigar shops before or have smelled a pouch of pipe tobacco, then this Kyse will smell very familiar to you. I agree that this is more tobacco than vanilla. It smells better than MAC's Velvet Teddy IMO, less synthetic and cloying. EDIT: Okay, so the sample I was given by another Fragrantica member is I think the older version of this, before by Terri was rebranded to Kyse. I was so enamored, I went ahead and bought the current version without sampling. They aren't completely different, but the newer formula definitely smells more straight vanilla tobacco than the older one. The older one is fruity and nutty, with the sweetness a perfect mimicry of pipe tobacco. I'm sad to say this quality is toned down in the newer bottle. It still smells lovely, just drier like hay. I read on the Kyse Facebook page that because vanilla crops have had a bad few years, their original source of vanilla became much more expensive. It's possible they changed the recipe for this reason, so I can't fault Kyse for that. It could also be the bottle needs to sit a while--I'll update if anything changes. EDIT 2: This is the first time my boyfriend has commented on something I've worn. He said it smells like ice cream/a Baskin Robbins. So... there's that.

Kyse Perfumes Vanille Debauche, a vanilla-dominant blend that sounds and is right up my alley. I like the name, as it suggests that the perfume has a certain edginess to it, and this is a fair categorization. The fragrance is dominated by a boozy bourbon vanilla, and coupled with amber, is a creamy delight. Dried fruits give it further character, and also contribute to the sharpness of the boozy vanilla. Other boozy notes (rum? whiskey?) are allegedly included to this effect, as well. The note arrangement is rounded out by tobacco and woods, and while I don't detect much of either, I can imagine they're there, lurking in the background, in a far distant corner of the fragrance, providing just a little gruffness to contrast the majority of the fragrance that is driven by more gourmand smells. Performance on this is very strong, much like the other strong members of the Kyse line that I've sampled in recent weeks, and so at the line's typical pricing, this is again a great deal, but unfortunately is currently sold out, and presumably that means discontinued within the context of what I understand to be a small batch company, so I'm more or less smacking myself for waiting too long to try my samples. Anyone interested should try this one out if they get a chance. 8 out of 10

Is that boozy vanilla? It almost smells dark chocolatey. I'm getting some bark. Some figgy dark fruit, not a super sweet fruit. Almost like dates or figs with much of the sugar removed. Chocolate covered booze soaked dates! It's a great fall and winter vanilla, very rich and dark. Very unisex, but great for men. I would attack one who was wearing it. :) I don't find it to be a cupcake sweet vanilla, it's not like that. It's rich and dense. Very nice, good job Terri! Drydown: I am detecting all that yummy vanilla goodness, and benzoin? (don't hold me to that) or something else that I really like (beeswax?). The darkness is fading into lightness. Just a beautiful vanilla in the drydown. It's gorgeous! It took me a while to open up to this type of vanilla because I've always been a sweet cupcake or light incense vanilla type of a person. This one is dark and sexy and edible in a very different way. Like a medieval edible vanilla. Some kind of medieval knights of the round table rum soaked date vanilla cake. Yeah, that good!

Another edible creation from Terri! Absolutely love this one. This is a dark, rich gourmet-gourmand. Unisex for sure, and although the notes suggest something similar to Tobacco Vanille - They are much different, but in the same vein, where "If you like one, you'll probably like the other." The opening of Vanille Debauche is melted dark chocolate & honey, drizzled over some kind of fig/prune/plum pastry. (An elusive FIG NEWTON!! note comes to mind). In the drydown, hints of wood & mild sweetness from tobacco are mixed in sporadically, but the main focus when applied to my skin is definitely on the deep, rich, chocolatey gourmand elements, and maybe even a hint of oatmeal & raisins at some point in time. I love that this is a widely multi-faceted vanilla gourmand - always changing, never cloying, never boring! It's wonderfully cozy without going into Yankee-candle-home-scent also, which I'm very glad about. Absolutely full-bottle worthy, and for the price you can't beat this quality; 15ml for 15$, 30ml for 30$! Bravo!

Vanille Debauche starts off with a deliciously toxic blast of vanilla doused in the most beautiful honeyed whiskey that you can possibly imagine. This is a dangerous scent, announcing itself drenched in booze, smoking a pipe and dancing loudly in the street, waving an ice cream cone in one hand and a basket of fruit in the other. It’s some parts Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford, other parts Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler, and if you have experienced either of these two gorgeous scents then you’ll want to get your nose on Vanille Debauche as soon as possible. It’s available at a very decent price, and although the longevity is a bit disappointing, that initial blast of booze and honey, plus the sweet vanilla and tobacco dry-down makes it a purchase worthy scent that I’m very happy to have in my collection.
