Vanille Debauche

Ohhh, this is really wonderful! This is the most realistic vanilla pipe tobacco I've ever smelled... if you've visited cigar shops before or have smelled a pouch of pipe tobacco, then this Kyse will smell very familiar to you. I agree that this is more tobacco than vanilla. It smells better than MAC's Velvet Teddy IMO, less synthetic and cloying. EDIT: Okay, so the sample I was given by another Fragrantica member is I think the older version of this, before by Terri was rebranded to Kyse. I was so enamored, I went ahead and bought the current version without sampling. They aren't completely different, but the newer formula definitely smells more straight vanilla tobacco than the older one. The older one is fruity and nutty, with the sweetness a perfect mimicry of pipe tobacco. I'm sad to say this quality is toned down in the newer bottle. It still smells lovely, just drier like hay. I read on the Kyse Facebook page that because vanilla crops have had a bad few years, their original source of vanilla became much more expensive. It's possible they changed the recipe for this reason, so I can't fault Kyse for that. It could also be the bottle needs to sit a while--I'll update if anything changes. EDIT 2: This is the first time my boyfriend has commented on something I've worn. He said it smells like ice cream/a Baskin Robbins. So... there's that.

Kyse Perfumes Vanille Debauche, a vanilla-dominant blend that sounds and is right up my alley. I like the name, as it suggests that the perfume has a certain edginess to it, and this is a fair categorization. The fragrance is dominated by a boozy bourbon vanilla, and coupled with amber, is a creamy delight. Dried fruits give it further character, and also contribute to the sharpness of the boozy vanilla. Other boozy notes (rum? whiskey?) are allegedly included to this effect, as well. The note arrangement is rounded out by tobacco and woods, and while I don't detect much of either, I can imagine they're there, lurking in the background, in a far distant corner of the fragrance, providing just a little gruffness to contrast the majority of the fragrance that is driven by more gourmand smells. Performance on this is very strong, much like the other strong members of the Kyse line that I've sampled in recent weeks, and so at the line's typical pricing, this is again a great deal, but unfortunately is currently sold out, and presumably that means discontinued within the context of what I understand to be a small batch company, so I'm more or less smacking myself for waiting too long to try my samples. Anyone interested should try this one out if they get a chance. 8 out of 10

Is that boozy vanilla? It almost smells dark chocolatey. I'm getting some bark. Some figgy dark fruit, not a super sweet fruit. Almost like dates or figs with much of the sugar removed. Chocolate covered booze soaked dates! It's a great fall and winter vanilla, very rich and dark. Very unisex, but great for men. I would attack one who was wearing it. :) I don't find it to be a cupcake sweet vanilla, it's not like that. It's rich and dense. Very nice, good job Terri! Drydown: I am detecting all that yummy vanilla goodness, and benzoin? (don't hold me to that) or something else that I really like (beeswax?). The darkness is fading into lightness. Just a beautiful vanilla in the drydown. It's gorgeous! It took me a while to open up to this type of vanilla because I've always been a sweet cupcake or light incense vanilla type of a person. This one is dark and sexy and edible in a very different way. Like a medieval edible vanilla. Some kind of medieval knights of the round table rum soaked date vanilla cake. Yeah, that good!

Another edible creation from Terri! Absolutely love this one. This is a dark, rich gourmet-gourmand. Unisex for sure, and although the notes suggest something similar to Tobacco Vanille - They are much different, but in the same vein, where "If you like one, you'll probably like the other." The opening of Vanille Debauche is melted dark chocolate & honey, drizzled over some kind of fig/prune/plum pastry. (An elusive FIG NEWTON!! note comes to mind). In the drydown, hints of wood & mild sweetness from tobacco are mixed in sporadically, but the main focus when applied to my skin is definitely on the deep, rich, chocolatey gourmand elements, and maybe even a hint of oatmeal & raisins at some point in time. I love that this is a widely multi-faceted vanilla gourmand - always changing, never cloying, never boring! It's wonderfully cozy without going into Yankee-candle-home-scent also, which I'm very glad about. Absolutely full-bottle worthy, and for the price you can't beat this quality; 15ml for 15$, 30ml for 30$! Bravo!

Vanille Debauche starts off with a deliciously toxic blast of vanilla doused in the most beautiful honeyed whiskey that you can possibly imagine. This is a dangerous scent, announcing itself drenched in booze, smoking a pipe and dancing loudly in the street, waving an ice cream cone in one hand and a basket of fruit in the other. It’s some parts Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford, other parts Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler, and if you have experienced either of these two gorgeous scents then you’ll want to get your nose on Vanille Debauche as soon as possible. It’s available at a very decent price, and although the longevity is a bit disappointing, that initial blast of booze and honey, plus the sweet vanilla and tobacco dry-down makes it a purchase worthy scent that I’m very happy to have in my collection.

Vanille Debauche It opens with a blast of tobacco and oud/woods and the woods are sharp like they are in "J". Fruits and honey enrich the boozy vanilla.. and once the opening settles down it becomes a very rich vanilla scent like the Madagascar type vanilla fragrances on the market. I really like the mid- drydown in Vanille Debauche. At first with the opening I wasnt sure if id like it, but as it goes along it really grows on you. Definitely unisex. I feel J leans more masculine but this is more in the middle as far as unisex goes. If your in the market for a rich vanilla, like a Lutens Un Bois Vanille or a TF TV...give this one a try. Its a pleasure to wear.

OOhh! This is delish. I cant afford Tom Fords Tobacco Vanille but this is a gorgeous alternative. I immediately get lots of tobacco and vanilla. Yes, its a sweet fruity vanilla but there is enough tobacco to really balance it out. I dont get any chocolate but I do get the booze and the honey. In the last couple of hours the sweetness wains and more tobacco, amber and wood do their thing. This would definitely smell great on either sex. It is the perfect cold weather fragrance. Moderate sillage and longevity.

I’m getting quite a bit of incense & woods with my sample of this...definitely needs to develop on the skin to bring out the layers. This is a really nice, complex vanilla. The opening is a bit plasticky. But has morphed into a lovely, woody, smoky vanilla scent. Moderate projection. Can’t speak of longevity yet. This reminds me of layering Comme des Garçons Avignon with vanilla. It’s that good 🖤

I can't get enough of this smell! Who knew I wanted to smell like pipe tobacco so badly. But I do. Vanille Debauche is fruit-scented pipe tobacco stored in a deep red wooden bookcase. Mysterious, edgy, boozy, sweet. I love this on myself (female) but also on my husband. Really great unisex. My only complaint is longevity. My skin eats this up, though it does last a bit longer on my husband.

I got a sample of this and I tried it in the summer, fall, and winter. It was ok but nothing that I thought I would ever really enjoy enough to buy a bottle. She had a sale so I caved and bought this and a few others. It is below 0 (Fahrenheit) right now and it smells amazing! Looks like this is something that really smells beautiful in North Dakota weather!

This is my absolute favorite from Terri, just love it. Great scent, the boozy, honey, powerful punch of this is my thing. The vanilla is strong and reminds me of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille so I layer the two together some times. I will be buying more from Terri very soon. Just lasts and lasts and then I reapply again so it never stops coming.

I like everything about it except the tobacco and the dried fruit (smells sour on me), Thats whats stopping me from buying a full size version of this (I just have a sample). Otherwise I like it and would probably do a swap for it or buy it from someone. Also looking for Elegance Sombre, Vertigo Cuir, and mandorlo whatever it is haha!

This is a delicious boozy vanilla. On my skin, as the scent develops I get a very nice fruity note mixed with an earthy accord. The beautiful boozy vanilla keeps center stage in the scent. I get good projection & longevity. It is another deliciously gorgeous scent from Terri!

This frangrence is very nice! You get a nice vanilla with like some amber some tobacco but that fades out later on me and some boozy vibe but just a tad boozy and that is it. Its very smooth a tad sweet and very unisex.

There have been a few new Kyse fragrances since December but they haven’t been added yet. I have been anxiously awaiting reviews. Especially Fumee Vanille. How do new fragrances get added to the database?

I was very excited to try vanille debauche. I love me a vanilla tobacco! I am a big fan of tom ford tobacco vanille, cologne of the missions, and double vanille. Maybe that's why I am underwhelmed with this fragrance when I have so many others to compare it to. The fragrance itself smells terrific, bourbon vanilla, spicy tobacco, and the signature rosey graham cracker smell (mainly the beginning). There are cozy woody beeswax smells and some hints of dried fruit. You have probably yet to see a problem :P. The short coming of this wonderful smelling fragrance for me is the longevity, projection, and silage. I applied more than half of my tester vial and could barely smell it 2 hours later. It's now been 5.5 hours and I can not smell the fragrance unless I lift hair right up to my nose (I applied around my neck). Even when the fragrance was noticeable it was faint. I am surprised to see this lack of power when I tried oui plus and confit de rose and they were both very strong. I am looking forward to trying more perfumes by terri but this was a pass for me.

Purchased this immediately after receiving sample from Lucky Scent. I hope this smells the same once received. Unisex for sure ( update, leans fem after dry down). I typically like sweet gourmands and can sometimes like masculine scents if I am not near men for awhile. Probably best worn during colder months and at night, but I am going to wear it during the summer though Sweet, dried fruits, vanilla, sexy, dirty, dark resin, musky, dark honey. I get local honey in the Commonwealth of Dominica, that the seller places in clean used rum bottles. This smells like the bottom of that bottle. Modern day hippie without the patchouli Reminds me of a darker/heavier and sweeter version of Blonde Amber by Clive Christian Who do I see wearing this? Male: Duke Dennis, Joey Badass and Xavier Legette- a pretty boy masculine type Female: Zoe Kravitz Update: Received the full bottle. Dries down to a very sweet vanilla (very fem leaning). This is more a boozy tobacco scent than a vanilla, the name is a bit confusing but it's a great scent for tobacco lovers that enjoy dried fruit in their perfumes, like the fruit in Chocolate Greedy sorta. I've had a by Terri 60ml bottle for a while now and as much as I like it I tend to not wear it because I'm not fond of the dried fruits boozy smell but it's a very good perfume this one in my opinion, I just wanted to say a few words about the fact this is a great affordable tobacco scent for it may be getting over looked by people thinking its all about Vanilla. For me a vanilla fan, this is all boozy fruity tobacco, kinda like Pulp had a afair with tobacco vanille A strong like and highly recommend to sample first.

Right off the bat incense and vanilla, that settles into a boozy, warm, fragrant suede, almost new car mixed with fruity vanilla scent. The drydown is very woody, which usually bothers me, but I don't seem to mind with this perfume because of the sweet gourmand notes. I ordered a bottle on first sniff, but as I get to know it, I wish it were stronger, had longevity and more of a presence. It is unisex, but leans masculine, which I don't mind because I love a smokey vanilla. A very faint scent bubble where the fruity vanilla and tobacco shine.

Does what it says on the tin, if the notes speak to you then you know exactly what you're in for. I have not smelled Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille so I cannot compare it to that, but Vanille Debauche to me is mostly about the dried fruit and tobacco drenched in boozy vanilla. Rummy fruit cake and gentlemen (and -women) smoking vanilla cigars. This is my first experience with Kyse perfumes and it makes me curious about what else this house has to offer.

There’s a familiar DNA that runs through everything I’ve tested from Kyse Perfumes: a sweet, honey vanilla. This time it’s combined with rum and tobacco to great effect. Vanille Debauche‘s thick like butter texture envelops the wearer in a blanket of comfort. Those in close proximity will appreciate it too. Completely unisex and completely wearable, I liked this the longer it was on my skin and had a chance to mellow.

This is Kerosene Promises,Promises but not as pushing in your face. Don't know about longevity at this point, but it is unisex leaning masculine. Not so much tobacco in my opinion.... at least not the kind I would garner it to be. It is stupid close to Kerosene type frags though.

Initially, fresh out of the bottle, it smells like watered-down vanilla, then turns floral; the vanilla remains consistently in the background. From what I can tell, it's a vanilla flower, not a gourmand vanilla.

Very smokey, boozy, not-sweet vanilla. Will give it to my SO as it's very unisex :)

Imagine walking into an exclusive basement lounge. The walls are covered in books. The lights are dimmed. Expensive cigars are lit. Individuals are discussing philosophy, history, and literature. Trays of dried fruit, nuts, and honeyed pastries are laid out, next to half full tumblers of scotch and whisky. That experience is bottled up in Vanille Debauche, I would describe this as a dark academia type of fragrance. This wears like a vintage version of Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. Performance is moderate and lasts for 4-5 hours if I over spray. Vanilla Debanche leans masculine and I find the dried fruit note challenging. Because of that I have a hard time pulling this off. The quality is there and I appreciate the artistry, but this scent is not for me. I just don’t want to smell like a box of fancy vanilla cigars next to a bowl of dried mixed fruits set out for Christmas. So unfortunately, it is a 5/10 on me. It is not a bad fragrance; it just needs the right person.

Surprisingly I expected to be this one my favourite by this brand - it's not. Let me tell you why. I expected this to be pretty onedimensional - mainly vanilla and tobacco. Well it has pinch of vanilla and a strong tobacco note, but I think the real main role in this composition goes to amber. The opening is quite boozy, like I spilled myself with rum. But this stage goes quickly away and the amber kicks in. I experienced an amber type like that before in Etro Ambra - quite spicy, herbal, beewaxy. In some way it reminds me on coke, tree resins and bee glue (propolis). I also tryed Tobacco Vanille, which is in my opinion more tobacco centered. Overall I really see to be this appreciated by amber lovers who also like tobbaco. For me it was a little too overwhelming - I like my scents less complex, or lets say less spicy.

From the cap, this reminds me of milk chocolate. Sprayed, it's totally different. The tobacco is dry, warm and has a strong animalic kind of leather like feel. The tobacco itself isn't very sweet in this perfume, it's quite sour. It leans a bit masculine and barn yard. The dried fruit note consists of mainly dates, it's perfect with the tobacco. The vanilla is only there to bring warmth and powder, it's not in focus. If you like animalic, slightly masculine tobacco scents this is a candidate, though it's not a candidate for gourmands like one might guess from the name. I can't detect the floury bread note in this, like I can in many other of By Terri. I prefer my tobacco sweeter and not as leathery.

Too much honey for me hunny. Good thing that I only purchased a sample vial. I smell spice too, no pipe smoke but rather pipe tobacco; I’m thinking that perhaps a bit of smoke would have grounded that sweet honey scent down a bit. It’s not awful, it just isn’t for me.

This is one of terrie's recently released fragrance and it is fantastic, the notes are, Vanilla Bourbon CO2, beeswax, boozy notes, amber, dried fruit, wood, tobacco. I get the Vanilla Bourbon, Boozy Notes, Dried Fruits, Amber and Woods, it starts off with a blast of vanilla bourbon and boozy notes, that makes it dry, the vanilla in this is not sweet, the vanilla bourbon in this smells like vanilla extract meets vanilla bean pods and that's not a bad thing, it's a great thing, after about an hour the vanilla bourbon calms down and the boozy notes come on stronger. Then I get the dried fruits, amber and woods, making it sweet, rich, warm and earthy, I even get a little bit of patchouli out of this even though It's not listed in the notes, it's probably has something to do with the tobacco note even though I don't smell it., this fragrance is a vanilla bomb in a wonderful way, if you don't enjoy vanilla this fragrance is not for you. This would be perfect for the fall and winter, I get good projection and average longevity,

I love the opening of this. It's such an in-your-face boozy vanilla with hints of naughty spiced fruits that smells delicious. The dry down loses my interest a little though. It becomes a perfectly nice woody vanilla that I've smelled plenty of times before. The tobacco stays thankfully subtle on me. It's there but not in an overwhelming way - great for people like me who aren't fans of that note. It never becomes unpleasant, and it's the cheapest of the others that smell like it, so it definitely has plenty of plus points. Unfortunately, it all but disappears after a couple of hours. Everything else I've tried from this house has had impressive longevity, but sadly this one does not.

Thank goodness I only get booziness when I smell this directly from the vial, but not in my skin because, whoa it packs a punch. At first application it smells like khalua, chocolatey, vanilla and a hint of coffee. This develops on my skin really quickly, moving through the initial vanilla on application, the woody heart notes with tobacco, and finally the sweet tobacco / vanilla base. This lasts in that final vanilla base for a solid 8 hours on my skin. I do like it, but I think that I probably have a lot like it in my collection. I'd recommend picking up the sample collections as they are a great way to try out her whole collection.

This perfume begins by drenching you in a boozy, fruity scent. It later develops into a really warm vanilla that promises you all the happy things in the world. I feel like I don't need anyone when I am wearing this scent. Weird, I know! I didn't get the tobacco note in this one. Sillage and longevity are moderate. The sprayer seems a bit fragile though, and this is the case with the sprayers of the rest of the perfumes I bought from Terri. I am worried I might break them, so I use them very cautiously. The perfume is a winner though. I love smelling like a rum-vanilla cookie. :D

I looked forward to this one so much - but my sample doesnt smell almost anything. I suspect something is wrong with it - when I apply it, theres a vague hints of lemon & some creaminess - and then, within 30 seconds its completely disappeared from my arm: What the...! Im worried if the long postage from US to northern Europe might have damaged the samples on the way...? Anyone else experienced this? Update: 5 minutes after applying, and I only get av vague sour smell left. It must have been damaged or something? Heartbreak!

As people mention here, it's a boozy vanilla. It starts out similar to Eau des Missions, but with a green background - I imagine the tobacco note as fresh leaves. In the drydown the scent starts to remind a lot of MMM's By the Fireplace; wood, booze, dark vanilla. If you don't already own the two mentioned fragrances you might give this a try, if you're out for something in this genre. I find the scent unisex, leaning masculine.

The initial blast was vanilla bourbon which smells exactly like vanilla extract to me, loved it. Then immediately it transforms and out comes a deep earthiness, it smells a bit 'dirty' hence the name I suppose. Then later it tones down somewhat and I detect some fruits/booziness and a hint of honey? I like parts of this, but I'm going to wear it a few times to see if I'll come to love it, which is entirely possible.

I agree with most of what you said, dear reviewers before me. I like the smell, but I have to decide if I really want to smell like tobacco, because that is what comes out most on me. My husband will have to be the final judge of that. I am happy to report he has tolerated or liked most of my trials of the samples by Terri (except confit de rose: too sweet, I agree). He usually dislikes most perfumes except Opium.

Vanille Debauche: that mouth-watering graham cracker crust mentioned earlier just got topped with some exotic, maybe Tahitian vanilla (I'm guessing...having never been to Tahiti before), and now, I'm not so sure if I want to eat this or rub it all over my body and lay out in the sun. I think I'd be fine with either choice.

I should’ve initially read the notes before blind buying, but the name seemed promising - unfortunately frags with amalgamations of tobacco, woody notes and vanilla make me sick. But, I really think this would perform well on a man or one with masculine energy. Good male frag

Balsamic, boozy and somewhat leathery vanilla scent. It isn't gourmand. It feels like smelling a bunch of old/aged vanilla pods split open. Very nice, very natural and overall great quality of a scent. I got a full bottle, but likely will get a back up.

This reminds me of balsamic vanillas, such as Le Couvent de Minimes, but without the sourness. From blind sniffing this, I expected it to have tonka as one of the notes, but it doesn't.

@Lizzard When it comes to Fumme Vanille I get a smokey Vanilla Extract type scent. Very lovely.
