Oud Baie Rose

I had a completely different experience to the one of the reviewer below me. First of all, longevity on my skin is 12 hours and counting. Projection was great for the first 2.5 hours before settling down a bit but at that 11hr mark, I could still smell myself through my face mask. That's pretty great performance if you ask me. The scent is quite linear. I don't know how they create this oud accord without actually having oud as an official note but it blended perfectly with the other notes to create an oud smell with leather and rose. It smells great from start to finish and is completely unisex. The more I try from this house, the more impressed I become.

A big rose. A big, zingy, brash, take-no-prisoners and DGAF rose, Mae West and six inch stiletto heels and ... hell yes, rose! Similar territory to Montale’s rose scents - Suede Oud Baie Rose is less synthetic but just as linear and long-lasting.

This starts as a punchy oud fragrance with a masculine character, and ends as a soft feminine scent. There's not much in between, and anyway it doesn't last long. Disappointing.

I had sampled Bois Rose Muscade and Bois Oud Safran from this brand and was quite moved by both, so I blind bought this one as it was on sale. I thought that I couldn’t go wrong considering I appreciate all the stated notes. Upon first spray, my nostrils were assaulted by a piercing blast of sharp pepper followed by a chalky, powdery sweetness. It reminds me a lot of some of Ex Nihilo’s dark bottle fragrances in that it is opulent but far too heavy, even for me. Baie rose means pink pepper, and I do not personally get any rose notes from this at all. That opening sharpness remains throughout the life of the scent, with some rich and juicy abstract pink flowers coming into play as it develops. This smells more fruity to me than floral, almost plummy or at the very least like a summer fruit compote. Something here also reminds me more of hawthorn or rose hip, giving the heart a tart but honeyed animalic nuance. All too soon, a velvety warm sweetness takes over, far too sweet and vanillic for my taste. I do not get any smoky birch tar or leathery labdanum either, unless they’re adding to that dry, scratchy quality. Oud Baie Rose would be ideal for a woman to wear during the colder months. It does give me quite an elegant Eastern feel but it is definitely a sweet and feminine peppery scent above all else. Decent longevity and intimate sillage, but I’d say it’s stronger on fabric, and I do catch wafts of it throughout the day. I am giving this to my sister.

I think a lot of people will love this because it's very new car interior to me, which is precisely why I don't like it. Edging into plastic, veering into headache territory, to the point I may have to just wash this off. Addendum: I persevered n the dry down is nicer, it loses the v artificial quality but I wouldn't want to sit through the first phases again.
