Oud Cannelle

Trying one from La Closerie again today, and once again I’m overcome by the quality of this brand - true connoisseur sh*t. The accords may be familiar (in this case, warm-spicy tobacco, cinnamon and amber, not unlike Red Tobacco, Sultan Noir and others) but here it’s perfected. This is smooth, beautifully blended, absolutely nothing screechy or synthetic. There’s texture and dimensionality to the fragrance. This is how and what I want to smell ... which was not the reaction I had to those similar scents. This shows why ingredients matter more than the listed accords, and how sometimes the unsung heroes can be the real stars on your shelf. Originality and marketing may not be their strong suits, but when La Closerie have done a profile I like, theirs is the version for me.

This review is based om a series of samples I got from Valerie Madrid at Exsence 2019. A wonderfull lady who shared with me her vision and history of the brand and legacy from her father and grandfather. What I first notice in the opening is the balance of Rose-Cinnamom - Patchouli - Oud and Vanilla. The perfume is yet to develop, but the opening gives you already an oriental vibe. The reason, it reminds me of Kalemat Wood by Arabian Oud (Oil). But even thought I love Kalemat, it is linear in its life span. But I know Oud Ambre will suprise me, as I was this her other creations. Wonderfull work from Philippe Romano

One of the boutiques in my city recently added this collection to their catalog of fragrances and I ordered a discovery set of the 4 more masculine scents. There's "Tabac Oud Cardamon", "Suede Oud Baie Rose", "Bois Oud Safran" and this one, "Ambre Oud Cannelle". Today, I wore Ambre Oud Cannelle and I was very pleasantly surprised. It's beautifully blended and composed. Sweet, woody and spicy. Longevity, projection and sillage were all above average. Overall, I'd say this one needs more hype. If you love amber and woods, this one is definitely one to check out and sample!

Beautiful, not too sweet. A spicy, resinous, ambery fragrance with out of this world longevity and projection especially on clothes. I don’t know why it has oud in the name because I don’t smell any at all, I do smell woods but not oud. I also don’t get any rose which is a shame because I LOVE rose. Definitely a winter fragrance 🥰

This fragrance is deep and rich and completely enthralling. Longevity is remarkable too.

This is a light oudy scent that dries down to a honeyed wood experience. My nose seems to get some tea, not earl grey but english breakfast in the middle notes and a bit on the dry down. It reminds me a bit of oud bouquet from lacome but is not beastly nor animalic. Very realistic cinnamon smell... I can almost smell the bark of the cinnamon. For a cinnamon lover, this is unique in my collection and cant live without it One spray is quite potent in a good way as this is going to last me (I still use three and this lasts all day)

Where is the oud, exactly? And the canelle (cinammon)? This is a rose-forward fragrance with a leather super amber material in the base. Maybe Firmenich's Leather Oud base? The product description reads "An Oud dressed in a leather boot" - not sure what that means, or where the oud went hiding then. Not worth the price, and nothing unique to see here. Lattafa's Opulent Oud has the same scent profile at a tenth of the cost. Tired of overpriced fragrances using super amber materials to boost projection with zero artistry.
