Royal Oud

Discovered it some years ago in Europe, I bought one for myself and one for a friend. It was too strong for my friend so I swapped it out with another one more her style, leaving me with two bottles. This is an interesting one indeed. I can see what Sultan is saying in his commentary, and I have to agree the first time I tried it I was not impressed...but perseverance is required here. It’s a blast of floral oud to start with and I think that initial hit prevents one from fully enjoying the woody dry down, I had to wear it a few times to truly appreciate it. Recommended but I fear this might now be discontinued, if not, give it a go. It’s reasonably priced, I think I paid around AUD$130 some years ago for 100 mls.

I got this in 2022 at a discount shop at what's equivalent to 25 USD in my place. Bottle is all matt black with gold label. Opening is horrible, fecal smelling amber- vanilla oud like Regine's Royal Oud. Fades to a soapy oud after an hour and stays that way to the end. Might be a gateway for a cheapie skanky oud starter but not blind buy friendly (the shop I bought this did not have a tester for this frag).🥴 5 hours on my skin, fully vanishes on 7. Clings strongly on clothes, had to soak my shirt in strong scented fabric conditioner after washing for a few hours to rid it.

the notes of this fragrance are: top: Jasmine and turkish rose, heart: Patchouli, Lignum vitae, Sandalwood, Agarwood (Oud), base: White musk. Once I sprayed it into my arm I have suddenly got an explosion of rose and oud notes quickly converting to strong patchouli notes mixed with jasmine petals. In ten minutes I had a week traces of wood notes and white musk. Unfortunately Royal Oud dies on me extremely fast. In the end I feel only the smell of woody soap on my skin. Wouldn't spend 100 Euro on this perfume. Expectations were much higher. I would compare this perfume with Rose Noir Oud of The Perfumer's Workshop LTD. Their Oud is more romantic, more longlasting.
