Reve Ottoman

Very nice. In my opinion, if this is applied in moderation, it's just restrained enough to be fairly regularly wearable, day or night, in the cooler months. It's not too bold or deep, not inherently cloying. The amber is restrained, not too powdery, the sandalwood is not as gruff or ballsy as leather or a darker wood might be, and, without drawing a great deal of attention to itself, the saffron seems to bring a kind of spicy, zingy lift. On me at least, this is probably more atmospheric than in-your-face, but I do get very nice wafts of (mostly) rose. The fragrance is unmistakably rose forward. I wouldn't say it's a jammy or candied rose necessarily--I'm reminded more of (Satya brand) rose incense sticks (but with just a brief hint of something similar to synthetic oud right at the start) than Turkish delight or whatever--but yeah, it's a sweet rose smell that I associate with the magenta-tinged rose colour as shown in the "main accords" here, not the scarlet of a fat lipstick-like rose or the brooding crimson of a gothic one. Syrupy? Hmmm, maybe, yeah. Naturally sweet. I don't intuitively find it very metallic, but I think I get the idea. I find the fragrance quite well integrated, well balanced. It is rose forward but not monolithically so. Naturally the sandalwood softens or blurs the rose, and both pair well with the saffron too. Close up the scent perhaps has a slight clay- or Play Doh-like roundedness that I suppose must largely be due to the sandalwood but that, rightly or wrongly, I often associate with patchouli.

Exceptional, tested today in a shop. Reminds me of some ultra Niche quality Kurkdjian made for Burberry a few years ago. Truely superb scent, an "Oriental Niche fragrance made to be liked by Europeans" taste. Let's keep this gem to remain underrated, just for us.

This perfume is so underrated. it's a glass of whiskey with some hints of red wine. a cup of whiskey that is freshly poured out from the barrel, sweet but not cloying. reve ottoman makes the best boozy fragrance I've ever put on

This is a dense, sweet, floral version of Tom Ford's Oud Wood. Very nice indeed, definitely full bottle worthy!

Initial spray will smell a lot like urine / weed and is very potent. After 5-15 mins it dries down beautifully. Very oriental smell that suits older men (between 30-60 year olds). Better suited for formal occasions. Will project well for around 4hours then will become a skin scent. For around £80-120 in the UK it is very well blended and is a high quality scent. Worth the addition to your collection if you are a fragrance head, but isn’t suitable for beginners.

In one way this is just yet another Rose-Oud (that familiar medicinal synthetic oud present in so many fragrances of course). But in common with most from this underrated house (I have about 8 of theirs - thanks TK Maxx and your £29.99 selling prices) it's beautifully made with refinement and a touch of understatement. Elegant jammy rose along the lines of a Lutens, but lighter and more rose forward. Great scent profile and good performance. I’d rather take this over so many other overrated rose perfumes.

Smells like hundreds of other "oriental rose" fragrances. Nothing special totally arabic. Pungent and strong.

The very first notes are of wine for sure. Then I thought it would be just another rose fragrance. I already have L'Extase Rose Absolue by Nina Ricci, which is sweeter. Reve Ottoman is greener though. I sprayed them on different wrists and I added a little Shalimar EDT over L'Extase. The first few minutes the combo seemed to match Reve Ottoman, but as they dry down, Reve Ottoman becomes more woody/papery, while L'Extase + Shalimar turn soapy (weird. Just like soap bubbles). I like Reve Ottoman better on clothes though, the woody note lingers and brings to mind Portrait of a Lady (add some Whispers in the Library) just less overpowering. There you go, a mishmash of frags. A few mins later: Indeed, sprayed on skin or on clothes, Reve seems to be two completely different frags: On skin it is an incensy green rose, on clothes it is calm and woody.

Just got this today! Smells high quality & niche. Reve Ottoman captures the essence of Turkey; & I wouod even say Dubai very well. I have lived in Dubai for almost 30 years; and this brings back soo many memories to me, sitting in the harsh cold of Scotland now. The Rose is sophisticated and fresh; but not overtly fresh; just a classy Rose accord; not the cheap synthetic rose you get in other fragrances these days. The drydown doesn't smell like oud; but has a rose-oudy drydown; which I belive is amber and sandalwood; both are super dense and you can feel it in the drydown. This is a nice jammey, syrupy fragrqnce which has complexity; while not being super sweet. Absolutely amazing!

It's a fantastic Western oriental. It manages to be quite deep but also transparent; it has a lovely airy quality, like a shimmering veil. Somebody said the opening smells like wine - 100% agree. The rose is blended to the point that it doesn't feel 'floral', just luxurious and silky. The saffron contributes a spicy, bitter, dry leathery feel, and makes-up the body of the scent. Very refined and well-executed, restrained enough to be worn in some normal daily situations. Love it. EDIT: Now that we're moving towards autumn in the UK, I'm really looking forward to wearing this more regularly. Alongside the dry saffron it has a nice warming spice feel, a bit like coriander seed.
