Contemporary Tuberose

It opens heavenly! Summery sunscreen-like expensive smelling tuberose. I was instantly addicted and rushed to buy another bottle. When I sampled a spray, I initially strongly could smell cashmeran in the dry down, and wasn’t crazy about that note. If you're not a cashmeran fan, you might want to pass on this. After giving this a full proper “wear,” I felt it really reminded me of Marfa by Memo Paris, which is one of many tuberose scents in my collection. Only this is sweeter, “prettier” and more feminine, and lacks the hay and green notes in Marfa that make it quirky. This has a soft carnal creamy tuberose more similar to Lys 41 (though this doesn't quite smell like that, it isn't a dupe), not that sharp soapy shampoo tuberose like in Bora Bora, La Vie La Mort, JPG Fragile, etc. Not like Fracas or Gucci Bloom either. I picked up a sample of Tubéreuse Vertigineuse by Molinard as it came up in the reminds me of section here and IMO it's a radically different fragrance with little to nothing in common with this one. This is warm, sweet, summery, youthful. It’s musky in that musky-honey way like Marfa and Scandal by Night are. TV is indolic, spicy, mature, and seems more of a winter scent, it really clashed with my chemistry. Contemporary Tuberose is great for warm weather and sunshine. Femme-leaning. More of an intimate sexy scent. A lovely addition to my collection. Great for daytime dates. It seems soft but you can spray a little extra and develop a nice scent bubble. Unfortunately it fades in about 3-4 hrs but that’s about the average for many true tuberose scents in my collection, at least in my climate and with my skin. I blind bought this and it was extremely successfull. It's quite youthful and doesn't come fof as mature on my skin at all. Update- I ended up stocking up on backup bottles of this one. After I realized it reminds me of a prettier Marfa, and remembering how much I paid for my bottle of Marfa compared to the avg price of this on eBay, I’ve just wanted to bathe in this scent all the time and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to stock up!

The Poster Below; "Aqua76xxx" Nailed it. Said it all. It's a Great big perfume for a little tiny price (online). Despite the notes, this can so easily transition into the fall very nicely. P.S. It does "REMIND" me of something. But, I just can't seem to put my finger on it now. When it does. I'll be sure to let you know. Which I'm absolutely sure will be at some random obscure time probably in the middle of the night when I'm going to tinkle in the bathroom, I'll yell it out loud and freak out my entire household at 3:00 am. Lol Anyway. When I think of it. I'll come back and post an addendum.

Wondervalley666 I completely agree that this smells like Marfa. The mid and dry down of Marfa smells like this whole perfume. I get a lot of tuberose in this and it feels summery but it’s thick and heavy so I can’t wear it in the summer and works better in the winter for me. Not as suffocating. I’ve had this for a while now, almost a year. Recently I’ve been mixing it with coco vanille from mancera and it is the most beautiful combination.

This fragrance is gorgeous and exactly as described - intoxicating! Lasts forever... If you want to make a "statement" that is 100% NOT unisex - this is your juice women. This Tuberose, Heliotrope, and Jasmine combo turns into an absolute narcissus oil extract ("Mariposa" brand-type oils that we were able to find in the West Village during the 80's), combined with a peach note! This fragrance is a sex bomb. And totally underrated too!

Aloha! I will start - I will start with a beautiful bottle, a heavy, gold-colored cork, a beautiful label with the Italian name LA PERLA. Smell mmmm ..... that's what I like, the beginning is pretty heavy feel mandarin with jasmine, then there are amyl salicylate, tuberose and heliotrope in the lower notes palpable tonka, cashmere and cedar, the whole after mixing gives something beautiful how to say in Italian "crema di tuberosa" divine powder and cream tuberose from spring to autumn and for the whole year. For me an Italian fairy tale and even unisex for men who like tuberose and flowers, the most. I am delighted with the persistence, each new fragrance is tested on paper and leather here ooo 6 hours max. You can always prank for this we have. It is a nice honor to have it in my collection, another way of the pearl. Grazie Italia. 9/10 very, very rich and long lasting.

This is a beautiful, soft tuberose that manages to be both creamy AND powdery, courtesy of the white florals and the cashmeran/heliotrope combo. It can be heady, so don't over spray. I find the sollage and longevity to both be pretty decent. Maybe 5 hours, with a scent trail and projection creating a 3-4 aura around you. I don't consider this to be a come hither, seductive tuberose of the Fracas variety. It's very pretty and sort of snuggly! Right now, this can be had for a seriously great price on Ebay. I also have and really enjoy their White Iris, which is somewhat more pricey but still a good deal for the quality. Both were very fortunate blind buys, though I can't recommend everyone go that route. However, given the low price, if the product is returnable, then by all means, take a risk - live a little!! 😉

This is a rich and creamy tuberose scent, with a barely noticeable clove spiciness. It's thick, dense, and perfect for chilly days. While it’s far from my favorite tuberose scent, strangely I sometimes crave it. There is something delicious about this, that while not a gourmand, satisfies me in the same way. I still can’t get over that when I purchased this several years ago such quality was selling so inexpensively. I just looked and it is still very reasonable priced. That’s amazing for something that not only smells this good but performs beautifully too. A few sprays last and projects all day.

A tuberose in a bed of silk. This fragrance is the definition of a soft floral scent well made. Unlike Miller Harris' Noix de Tubereuse which is a bubblegum tuberose (Luca Turin's opinion and I agree!), unlike Oriflame's Sublime Nature vanillic tuberose and unlike Frederic Malle's Carnal Flower green and natural tuberose, La Perla's tuberose is like taken from a painting. It is abstract, imaginary, surrounded by silk and cashmeran sweaters. An overall impression is chic, sophisticated and elegant. Although the cashmeran makes me sad.

I don’t like this at all on me, but it would be nice on others. It’s a mandarin, tuberose, Jasmine, cashmere scent that smells very mature. I think it smells identical to Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds & Emeralds perfume. It smells outdated too, something from the 80s or early 90s. I don’t recommend especially as a blind buy!

This is a very likeable, huggable white floral / vanilla scent. Way less challenging than either Terracotta or Datura Noir, both of which lure you in with tropical-floral, narcotic sweetness only to lull you into plumbing their moody, unsuspected depths. If Contemporary Tuberose grabs you, it’s for an embrace. Mostly, it’s milky, vanillic florals on a bed of cashmere wood. The cashmeran note, which often smells like a hint of clean leather to me, serves to play up some of the still-tame indoles in the jasmine and tuberose. Cashmeran and jasmine — together and apart — also approximate something like a laundry detergent or dryer sheet scent, keeping this scent firmly in the camp of the clean, cozy, domestic, soft-to-the-touch, and familiar. There is also something softly waxy here, like lipstick or sweet crayons; heliotrope, I suspect. At times this scent is milky, creamy suntan lotion. At others, cream soda, bubblegum, and cherry syrup come and go, but in a wispy, non-gourmand way. In concept and reality, I love heliotrope mixed with tropical florals; there’s something delightful about an English cottage garden flower combining so well with heat-loving jasmine and tuberose (see also, Datura Noir). This is an easy reach for me: creamy, floral, feminine, lingeringly vanillic, sunny, rich, sweet, pretty. I forgive the goofy name.

La Perla Contemporary Tuberose is just baaarely a tuberose, to my nose; it's more of a lightly gourmand, powdery/creamy, heliotrope/tonka scent, with a just a little bit of tuberose -- tuberose typically is more green and floral than this. I love the way wondervalley666 characterizes Contemporary Tuberose as a "musky honey" kind of scent which, to me, means it's on the sweet side, but mellow. Great description! Though beautiful, it's also not that distinctive to me. Maybe I like my florals less blended than this -- more "Tuberose," "Heliotrope," "Rose," etc... -- the floral announcing itself loudly. Or maybe I actually prefer a louder, sweeter vanilla note (as in Bvlgari Splendida Tubereuse Mystique) to the more subdued tonka bean note in Contemporary Tuberose. Regardless, Contemporary Tuberose is a lovely, gentle tuberose perfume. So, if you find Tubereuse Mystique, or even the original Juicy Couture, to be just a bit over the top in loudness and/or sweetness, Contemporary Tuberose is a lovely, quieter alternative, like a soft and sunny summer day. Longevity is OK, maybe 3 or so hours. PS -- I really want to try Guerlain Terracotta, sometime!

My first impression: Very sweet and powdery. Not all what I would have expected - definitely not an "In Your Face" tuberose, like my signature scent Fracas. I've had CT on for a few hours now, and it has meted into something really interesting - a warm, ambery scent that reminds me a bit of Faberge Tigress, which I loved when I was a teenager. LisIrishFleur, is Tigress the scent you couldn't put your finger on when you posted? I compared the notes listed in Fragrantica, and the only one that CT and Tigress have in common is Tonka Bean. Of course, the orange in CT could be one of the "citrus notes" in Tigress, the Amyl Salicylate in CT could be part of Tigress' "green notes", and God only knows what "floral notes" they share. CT is much quieter, not brash like Tigress. But there's just something about them that seems similar to me. And I'm glad it's there.

This has a spice in the opening that’s too much for me and makes it hard to tolerate in the summer despite the skin and suntan lotion vibes. The spice gets muted in cooler temps, and on a day with a moderate temperature of 68f and 40% humidity, the buttery floral came forward. But it also brought a bit of rancid sweetness like I spilled a glass of Chardonnay. I only tested it in spring and summer, and gave it away before it got cold, to a friend who loves it.

I like this quite a bit. Its not your average tuberose perfume-not sweet, but not fresh either but elegant, classy, and has slightly semi oriental feel. Here, all notes are evenly balanced and tuberose is not in your face. I don't think there is another perfume like it on the market right now. However, I was kind of put out at a price-$192. Sorry, but this is too much for what it is. And while I liked it a lot I didn't love it.

UPDATE: Now, the drydown seems to be rather nutty - almonds, perhaps? Not listed as one of the notes in this fragrance, but I suppose the combination of several different ingredients could approximate this.

The amyl salicylate makes it smell like a floral tanning oil. Very nice for summer when sprayed lightly, otherwise it becomes suffocating.
