Grigioperla

i had to wait maybe two decades to love grigioperla. many years ago my aunt gave me a gift, a set with edt and a bag. at that time i was in the highschool, too young to appreciate, so i gave it to someone i dont remember. now, i have to say grigioperla is one of my favourite fragrance of all time, a great barbershop scent sadly discontinued. it opens a bit harsh like a moderate version of polo green with a punchy fresh-foresty feel. after 10-15 the smell improves, became more in the style of drakkar noir or duc de vervin but mixed with azzaro pour homme, so u can feel herbs, spicies and our beloved oakmoss. the blend also includes anise, lavender, sage, basil ...morris made a great job with this parfume. fresh and warm, a bit balsamic, this is not for a snobby guy, to me this fragrance is for an elegant mature man with integrity and dedication, shaved and clean, who wears an elegant suit at night after a day of hard work, so not the rich man of the country club. for cold seasons, for casual and formal situations, for men over 35. good performance, both in longevity and sillage. dont overlook to the grigioperla line, this, touch, essence, nero, attitude, hedò....all great fragrances too underrated. i think people like mrsmelly, chris from scentaland and kelan from south jersey would appreciate this grigioperla. ciao a tutti! grigioperla vs grigioperla intense edition: there's also the intense edition(of course not listed on fragrantica), which has the same box but white-silver. the intense is a bit different, sweeter with the tonka beans more prominent. it's darker and warmer, something is in common to the original but to me they are different. i prefer the original but the intense is more modern and wearable for who doesnt like the barbershop scents. my vote for the intense is 8. scent-9 longevity-8 sillage-8 uniqueness-8 versatility-7,5 presentation-6 compliment factor-7 backup bottle?yes my vote-9 in one word- integrity alternative- drakkar noir, azzaro pour homme. BELIEVE IN PEACE

So sadly discontinued, and just before the collapse of the historical Morris Perfumes - in Parma. Investment funds logic is a shame. This is possibly the ultimate masculine fougere. It takes to another levelled refinement the excellent Drakkar noir, not either intend to compare it to Al Rehab Dakar (of which own some 15 bottles - to say my passion for this) or even to Tsar, Lomani (that I love too, 3 bottles ), or to the more abrasive English Fern (still much love), the soapier Duc de Vervins. The medicinal part of the most manly fougeres is here (rosemary, geranium and basil-yes!) but on a stunning, eternal and enveloping base of oak moss,tonka and amber. Transition is perfect and develops in a more substantial and enjoyable way than the other fougeres quoted. Ingredients quality is high. The Morris Parma’s plant was actually famous for high quality ingredients. Unfortunately 2020 has been a so bad year. We will mourn this jewel. I grabbed 2 bottles. Will try Taxi Cofinluxe by the way, as others mention is still a valid yardstick.

One of my favourite ever scents. Grigioperla is a timeless barbershop scent with very noticeable rosemary which is clean and manly. Ideal for when you want to smell clean and dress semi smart. It is similar to platinum egoiste with the rosemary / lavander combo but less complex, even better performance and cheaper. I prefer this smell tbh. I do not get any cool wave comparisons at all. If you are in Italy look for it in the perfume sections of multi purpose stores that also sell soaps and detergents, not perfumeries. I hope it never goes out of production, absolutely brilliant.

A wonderful man's scent! - Mainly "one noted" but it has a fresh, oriental, spicy, smell. It is similar to Drakaar Noir, Lomani Homme and Taxi but this one is a bit sweeter and subtler. It lasts a long time too. If you want a cheaper alternative that is great also - go for Lomani Homme. Grigioperla is one of the very best men's sweet orientals out there in my opinion.

I wore this a lot in the early 2000s. A vibrant, potent Italian classic. Extremely macho, but cultured at the same time. I can't honestly say that I see this one as typically fougere or oriental; more a dry, crisp, woody herbal. Amazing, and unique. Always a favourite of mine along with its stablemate Touch.

Definition of smooth. Briliant barbershop scent with a moder twist to it. I can clearly see that creators of Armani Code have drawn inspiration from the basenotes of this little masterpiece. 10/10

Superb stuff. A great everyday office scent. The Basil and Anise are instantly detectable and then a wonderful clean, soapy drydown. Good sillage and longevity - a very nice masculine scent.

Smells almost exactly like Gillette Cool Wave aftershave (which isn't a bad thing, since Cool Wave smells great). Apparently Grigioperla was launched first, so Cool Wave is the imitator.

Lovely smell! Grigio is in the same olfactory family as: Drakkar Noir, Lomani Pour Homme and Taxi. This is very nice, but the winner by a narrow margin, for me, is Taxi.

After wearing both for a while now, Taxi is much the better fragrance in my opinion. It's sweeter, better silage and longer lasting. Grigioperla is very good though too.

I like this one and I'm glad I was able to stumble upon it by way of dumb luck, otherwise I probably never would have heard of it or known it existed. GrigioPerla opens with a bit of a sharp and sour bergamot/lavender combination, but it doesn't last long, maybe for 5 to 10 minutes. Afterwards, it develops into a smooth fougeure with a clean, soapy, barbershop quality. While similar to Drakkar in some ways, Grigioperla seems rounder and less aggressive, suave and understated. The allusions to Italian aftershave are correct and perhaps because I don't often come in contact with these types of fragrances, I find it unique enough and a welcome addition to my wardrobe. Most appropriate for ages 25 and up, Grigioperla is versatile and could be worn as a work scent or for a casual night out. It presents a clean, sober minded demeanor. Decent longevity and projection. Fairly priced. Try to sample this if you can--you may be surprised.

Sadly the reformulation is not quite as good as the original fragrance in terms of the depth and richness of the overall composition. This one has always reminded me a tiny bit of Paloma Picasso Minotaure. They both have that similar almost barn-like earthiness that I also find in Zino and Rocabar. I agree that this is a classic fougere that is difficult to dislike...especially for those of us who came of age in the early 90s - it definitely is a scent reminiscent of its time. I'm also somewhat reminded of Drakkar Noir and Wings by Giorgio of Beverly Hills. Though not especially groundbreaking, it is still an enjoyable experience wearing Grigioperla.

Someone mentioned this smells just like gilette cool wave. That is exactly true, and as I used the aftershave for most of my youth, that smell is well sealed in my memory. The scent itself is very dominant Oakmoss and Rosemary, flanked by lavender, geranium, coriander and clary sage, with a noticable touch of bergamot. The coriander, clary sage, and bergamot are a little under-represented in the notes here I think, and the basil, sandalwood and amber are just a bit over-represented to my nose. Very pleasant, and brings back memories.

A beautiful oriental, sort of rescembles Italian aftershave in a good way. Not a powerhouse, as one could have thought, but quite potent at the beginning with coriander, anise and rosemary, but settles after some hour to a wonderful more subtle scent. Very, very nice. Do try it if you can find it, it has really surprised me how timeless and classic this is.

not bad but too soapy of a scent for my liking.i guess my nose will get used to it over time but for now its thumbs down

Something between Cosmair Safari and Drakkar Noir, but closer to the former, nice and smooth. 8/10

Bad and ordinary, only for lavander and lavander.

If Lomani and DN are too harsh for you but you like straightforward fougeres ("soapy" ones), then you should sample this one. It also seems a bit more complex than basic, soapy fougeres I've tried. I think the basil, anise, and carnation are more obvious here, which provides better balance. I did a dab sampling and I look forward to giving it a regular wearing when I'm in the mood for this kind of fragrance (I'll update this review when I do that). UPDATE: After doing a regular wearing I am pleased to say that this is a very smooth, subtle fougere. It does begin with a bit too much musk and fougere accord to my liking but after less than an hour it comes together very well. The balance is great and it's reasonably complex and natural smelling. If you like Rive Gauche Pour Homme's opening but dislike the dry, woody/patchouli-dominant base, you might want to give this one a try.

Smells like every aftershave from the 90's. Nothing special about it! Do not jump into the "buy it now cause it's gonna be very hard to get in the future", wagon, you know, the discontinued frag crap... I am not saying it smells bad, it is a solid release from that genre, but you can buy a denim or other classic aftershave, and you basically have the something similar. On eBay, it's over 120 dollars...get the f...k out of here, i am not gonna help somebody to pay its rent or other taxes in change for this basic fragrance. Gimme something special at least. For me its not a loss, i paid like 25 bucks for 50 ml. For that is very ok!

Bought this is the 90s from an upmarket perfumery. It reminded me of something but I couldn’t place it. On the way home it came to me. Gillette shaving foam. Deliberately left it on the bus seat. Enough said

Nothing special. Don't fall for the discontinued 'hurry buy now' nonsense. Get Drakar by Al Rehab which is like vintage Drakkar Noir. It blows this away and it's only $10.

sharp spicy oriental,really fresh and with huge sillage, has the same vibe of Drakkar Noir, something for the kids of the 90's!

Unremarkable and stereotyped masculine fougere with an oriental twist. No more, no less. Rating: 5/10
