Let The Dance Begin

To me it comes across as raspberry + good milk chocolate + patchouli and sooo well done. Patchouli can burn out my nose in other scents and here it is intoxicating, but starts with and maintains its elegance throughout. The chocolate dies down and less detectable after about an hour, and after that it is still that slightly fruity rose patchouli, but still enjoyable. I have now tried all from this line and this and Just Give Me Roses are my favorite, with My Day in third. I can tolerate all the others too except Possibilities which is very noxious to my nose. My only complaint is that it lost a lot of strength after about 3 hours. If not for that, it would be a go-to for night outs out, which could be a date night, but I see it more as a general night out. It could still work, if you are prepared to re-apply. I think it would be the perfect yummy yet some sex appeal scent for a cocktail waitress at a basement jazz club. I know rose+patch is over done and this one doesn't scream uniqueness, yet I still find myself reaching for it a lot as it holds a spot in my scent memory. I love it, I just don't go out enough at night to wear it so often, but I do really enjoy it and love to sniff myself while wearing it. Wearing it now while home alone :-)

It took me a while to find the right words for this review. I sampled Let The Dance Begin several times over the years and always loved it. It stayed on my list, yet for some reason I never pressed “purchase.” I even had its flashier, more popular sister Possibilities sitting in my cart ready for a blind buy, but of course it was discontinued before I grabbed it. Fast forward, I managed to score a bottle of Let The Dance Begin for around $100 and even tracked down Possibilities. Now that both are in my collection, I have to be honest, Possibilities is the cute, outgoing sister everyone notices first... but Let The Dance Begin is the one with timeless beauty and captivating personality. Let The Dance Begin opens as a lush, fully bloomed bouquet of tuberose, rose, ylang-ylang, geranium, and neroli. Each one rich, heady, and present. Davana and patchouli leaves add an earthy, aromatic touch that grounds the florals. Finally the entire bouquet receives a dusting of sweet spices and a drizzle of caramel before being placed in a beautifully carved wood vase. It’s elegant. It’s intoxicating. And it’s made for someone grown, confident, and sexy.

This fragrance deserves more attention! Until today I had no idea this brand existed and how lucky I discovered it. I stumbled upon Let The Dance Begin at a department store. Among the popular designer fragrances, it was no feat and I imagine it does not get sprayed all that much. However, the bottle piqued my interest, it was different and sophisticated. Oh boy! While I have little experience with it, upon smelling the fragrance for the first time, I was taken aback and had to immediately spray it once more just to see if I my nose was smelling what it was smelling, it was that surprisingly good! Sweet and creamy, it smells gourmand, yet there is a bit of darkness that smells like rose and faint (not real) oud. I ever so slightly get this smooth, velvety dirtiness that I think is the cashmeran and sandalwood working together. It may be close to the Stronger With You line, I did not smell either enough to be completely sure, but of what I can recall, this could very well be its niche counterpart! Do yourself a favor and if you get the chance, to give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Upon first sniff it immediately reminded me of something a knew I’d smelled from the PdM masculine line. Sure enough, I come here to check if anyone else smells the same and there’s Carlisle on the reminds me of list. The opening is very similar though not as harsh and more feminine imo. This scent is everything I wanted Carlisle to be as a woman. I think it was Demi that recommended it so I gave it a try but I just couldn’t pull Carlisle off. Too spicy. This I can definitely wear. Even the spiciness that screamed Carlisle in the opening dries down to a sweeter, MUCH more feminine version. It’s a beautiful nighttime Fall scent I think. Not sure it would work for me in summertime as I live in a very hot climate. LtDB is perfect for the Holidays. I can’t wait to try it out and report back on its other facets. Really beautiful fragrance. Probably my second favorite from the line behind My Day.

It was love at first sniff but I couldn't bear the price tag of the 120mL bottle, and the 30mL bottle seemed to be sold out every where. After some searching and waiting, I found it for almost half the original price - less than the price of Carlisle - and I snatched it up right away! Let the Dance Begin is feminine, well-blended, sweet and not too spicy. It feels light and is long-lasting at the same time. It's quite versatile as well and I would wear this in any season for every occasion. This is a great addition to my collection and is definitely signature-scent worthy. I'm not sure if I've tried Carlisle, but Creed Queen of Silk sort of makes me think of a more pungent LTDB.

Everything I have tried in this line is really good. There is something for everyone. This is one sexy perfume, strong and dark, I get something boozy, sweet, spicy, woody. The colors of the bottle really match how this smells, deep red, firey. I think it smells A BIT like Side Effect from initio it's got that sort of strong harsh woody/sweet/spicy/boozy thing going on, more floral, probably more feminine to most people. Nothing like Black orchid or Hypnotic poison...

Have they discontinued their Niche/highend line? Anyway as I was scared they may discontinue this and I now have 560ml worth of this fragrance, I know it’s excessive but I love the scent and now I won’t run out. Edit: They have now discontinued this line.

This is one of those perfumes you smell and instantly your heart skips a beat. It’s beyond sexy, intoxicating, expensive, and very very original. Nothing I’ve smelled before, yet it’s approachable and it’s respectful to the people around you.

Dark, sexy, boozy, intoxicating. Such a beautiful fall/winter date night fragrance.

I tested this fragrance twice — first on my hand and later as a full wear — and it immediately impressed me. At first sniff, it reminded me of Initio Side Effect, but with a different personality: sweeter, slightly peppery, more juicy, and vibrant. Side Effect feels drier in comparison. It also gave me a quick flash of Majaïna Sin from The Different Company. On skin, you get a smooth blend of peppery spices, soft sandalwood, and a gentle, creamy cashmere note. There’s a subtle balsamic touch that adds depth without making it heavy. You feel a fresh spiciness and a lightly powdery mix with touches of ambra, caramel, and tonka. It’s rounded by hints of ylang-ylang and tuberose (both very soft, almost hidden). I don’t detect much patchouli or neroli. What I love is the balance: it’s spicy and sensual, yet never dense or overwhelming. It stays creamy, warm, and slightly aromatic, with an elegant, intriguing character. At a good price, it’s definitely worth picking up.

First phases are quite intrusive and sweet, it's a modern woody, sweet, spicy patchouli. While drying down davana comes in and it adds the most interesting turn to it, making it smell like a bit more feminine form of Mumbai Noise. It's a bit much, but I like it, it is and interesting perfume with some pretty unique nuances.

Oddly enough my nose is getting Gold Incense Carolina Herrera. 🤔 A slightly less bold/harsh version of it. Like a more wearable Feminine, tiny bit softer. Very similar. Anyone else getting Gold Incense CH?? Beautiful amber fragrance and lovely scent trail. Not sure about the longevity yet.

Let the Dance Begin is a very boozy, spicy, woody-amber scent. It is perhaps the most extroverted of La Perla's haute parfumerie line as well as being perfectly unisex. This is also a contender for the most polarising of this line, as it is a departure from the subtle, nuanced florals that make up most of the other scents. There are elements of this scent that I really like, but ultimately it's not for me. LtDB opens with peppery cardamom, reminiscent of Indian food. It is very boozy amd balsamic from the beginning, with davana (presumably) giving a herbal undertone. There is a good dose of citrus in there too, adding freshness. The opening is very strong, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. As it develops, powdery florals emerge, adding sweetness. I get mainly rose, but there's a nice creamy white floral accord in there too. It becomes very woody with sweet amber nuances. A hint of cinnamon adds warmth. I don't get a caramel note as such, but sweet amber sometimes gives a caramel-like effect. The drydown is woody and earthy, with patchouli adding a nice hint of dirtiness. The cashmeran unfortunately dominates the drydown - I'm not a fan of such synthetic molecules that feature in the base notes of many modern scents. I find cashmeran to be particularly headache-inducing and unpleasant. LtDB fades to a single-note cashmeran skin scent that lingers for hours. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting (the cashmeran phase contributing hugely, unfortunately for me). An interesting, unisex woody-amber scent that is unfortunately let down by its drydown phase, LtDB starts off well but ultimately disappointed me. However, plenty of people will love this. 2.5/5.

Was surprised to see that the perfume was released in 2021. Smells very old-fashioned. Dense composition, it's impossible to decompose it into individual notes. Fragrantica users smell most of all patchouli here, in my opinion, there is a bit of it here . For fans of chypres

Very forward and intrusive. Almost paints a picture of an undisplined woman w no boundaries. I am sorry for having to use those words, but it just how this scent is. Definitely not smelling the same, but this scent screams desperation for attention like many of the cloying celebrities scents these days. @Chlorodream: if what you have been trying are all from the Haute Perfumeria collection, then we are on the same boat. I can't seem to agree w any of the scent in this line. I fell in love w La Perla Signature and decided to venture out to other La Perla scents. So far so bad...

I get the cinnamon, but that patchouli and wood cloud is too much for me. This scent gives me the vibe of crystal shop, with the owner who hasn’t showered since they opened the store and has been to multiple trips to India ever since. This is not how I want others to perceive me.

Besides the sweet patchouli and cinnamon, the tonka bean- Oh my god I hate it. The scents alright but the tonka personally ruins it for me, maybe its my skin. it has a similar vibe to Black phantom by Kilian. I much prefer Xerjoff's TI monkey special.

Wow. People are not joking when they say this is boozy. It is BOOZY. I couldn’t put my nose too close to it because on my skin, it literally smells like pure whiskey. It has smoke and spice but i reeked of alcohol and I can’t stand that. This is the 4th La Perla scent I’ve tried and I think my skin chemistry just doesn’t work with anything this brand puts out unfortunately. I can’t smell the things that others describe and that makes me sad, but that’s how it is I guess.

Nothing about this perfume attracts me in any way . Way too Spicy and potent . Couldn’t imagine having this on my body .

Damn right, this is a slightly more feminine, bit more refined Carlisle. A little bit softer, less spicy, smoother, bit more gourmand like pink candy floss inside a freshly laundered cotton pillow case (but without the stickiness). As a HUGE fan of Carlisle, I would absolutely wear this myself as a male scent. As a cheapskate, is this really worth more than a bottle of PdM? Well, yes I guess? Longevity is there, even though it doesn't project as much perhaps, which gives it a seductive pull rather than a more aggressive "smell me whether you like it or not" approach. This fragrance is an invitation to dance, & as the bodies heat up on the dance floor, sweet perfume fills the air & adds another dimension to the music. A sexy Tango, classy & laden with tension. Definitely not the macarena or Tik Tok kinda dance.

This is the perfect cardamom fragrance in my opinion. I don’t understand the negative reviews. I don’t find the opening offensive at all, it settles into the most gorgeous sexy spicy fragrance almost instantly. My husband, who is fatigued of my constant scent testing, immediately commented on this one. He is a BIG fan and each time I wear it he comments “omg you smell amazing”. I was testing Jovoy’s remember me prior to this and I loved the cardamom note but couldn’t handle the milky drydown. This gives me what I was looking for in that scent but in a much sexier and more classy beautiful way.

I'm obsessed with this.Strangely this a mood lifter for me.To me this smells like a true sexy scent.Not sexy in a get all dolled up for dinner and look hot kinda way.This is sensual and dark.I would spray this before having the best sex of my life.For night time only,I sprayed this once during the day and I felt like it was too much.The notes that play up on my skin the most are the cinnamon,davana,tuberose,caramel,and sandalwood.I can understand how this could be too spicy for some.It definitely has a lot of personality and is meant for a very passionate intense person.

Got a tester of this. This smells like you're rich and you own a log cabin in the woods. It's super cold outside like snowy cold, so you try to keep yourself warm in the cabin in your white fluffy sweater with a cup of hot cinnamon tea. It doesn't smell like a perfume.

Once this has dried down it honestly reminds me a lot of Cheirosa '71 from Sol de Janeiro. A more sophisticated version, but still - caramel is the note that stands out.

Oh my! This is gorgeous. Reminds me of Moon Glory by The Harmonist. All those beautiful notes... this is a dance... a slow seductive dance.

This smells 95% similar to PDM Carlisle. I prefer Carlisle over LtDB as Carlisle is a tad sweeter.
