Sweet Hope

The resemblance is pretty much complete in my opinion, I can hardly tell a difference in the scents. Except sillage and lasting power are decreased, from (my HP is from 01.22) high-medium to low to low-medium. Actually, this works very well as it makes the scent the soft, intimate perfume that it actually is. While HP's strength was/is excellent for memorability, thus popularity, and, if people didn't overspray, bang-for-the-buck, to me a less obtrusive nature goes so much better with the notes. I bought it on a whim, having avoided Hypnotic Poison like the plague before for reasons just mentioned. This dupe made me love it, and subsequently obsessed, for the very first time. The bottle is nice, very nice considering other dupes. My only pet peeve is the slightly sharper upper edge of the cap, which cheapens the feel. I fixed the edge with heat over a flame and now it's perfectly smooth and glossy. Which comes with a risk of ruining the cap though and most people will just not mind that detail tbh. ^^ Now, if you've come to love this scent, you do notice its low strength, and it's sad it gets quite close to the skin so quickly. If you can and don't mind the very different packaging, do give Spirit of Cashmere Musk a try, it is the same rather spot-on dupe but with an intensity almost matching my current original. Which isn't so lethally overwhelming anyway in my opinion, but, both could be suffocating, whereas with La Rive you will have a hard time getting nauseous, and may just enjoy this amazingly beautiful sweet comfort scent.

I have a love hate relationship with this fragnance. I'm not the biggest fan of coconut and white florals in General. That's way I've never bothered to buy the original HP. But sometimes I get the hinch for smelling like it. Sweet hope opens up with lots of white florals and coconut. In the beginning I get a somewhat alcoholic smell from it. Though I'm not sure if those are the white florals. However I'm Not the biggest fan of the beginning. The drydown however is absolutely beautyful. I get a mix Out of coconut vanilla and sandalwood with a hint of white floral in the Background. I dont get any almond notes tbh but I dont get them with the original either. Projection is okay I could smell myself throughout the day with my mask on. Projection from the original HP ist not great either. Longevity is about 5-6 hours when I Spray around 7 sprays. Longevity from the original is extremely bad on me 10 minutes and its a skin scent 4 hours max and I cant smell anything. The pricepoint for sweet hope is phenomal 90 ml for 5 Euro. Not even a VS Body spray is that cheap. Edit: The last week the temperature has dropped massively where I live. I wore this perfume almost everyday and it perfoms way better in the winter cold. I definetly get the play doo almond note now. The perfume smells like powdery marshmallows for me now. I think this might go to my favorite shelf.

This behaves so interestingly on me. At first I thought I was going to be disappointed that the fragrance SEEMED to disappear so quickly, but it lingers around - like litterally - around me, for a long time after I've sprayed it. The funny thing is that after a few minutes, I can't obviously smell the fragrance on me, but I catch whiffs of it in the air, close to me. I only vaguely remember Hypnotic Poison which I loved and tested many times, but never owned. This is certainly a much lighter dupe. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm not an American and I don't live in the U.S. anymore, so if like me you're in a country where people are unfamiliar with Root Beer, obviously no one's going to think you smell like Root Beer, not that, that would put me off the fragrance. I've tried other fragrances with a dark soda note/scent and I sometimes like that just fine. What I'm getting is roasted caramelized almonds and I really like that smell. Update 25.01.2021: No Root beer note develops on me. Whatever smells like Root Beer on some others, smells like caramel on me. It's a good thing that there's 90ml in the bottle, because we're not allowed to travel to Germany right now where I bought this fragrance last Summer, and I haven't been able to find many La Rive fragrances in Denmark -they aren't stored routinely in shops, like they are in dm and Mueller.

It is absolutely bonkers how much this smells like the original hypnotic poison (including the strength and longevity)!! I added a bottle of this to make free shipping and this at 3 euro was the cheapest article in the store. Serendipitous, because hp used to be my baby back in the day, I was floored when I received it. I went through at least four bottles of the stuff when it first came out then sadly it got reformulated once to many and I stopped liking it and it stopped liking me. I went in store to check the original because I was so ready to get it again but alas the Dior one available now still gives me a certain acridness and an unpleasant herbal dry down that wasn't there when it first came out. If you miss the old version, get this.

very comforting scent. I cannot bring myself to comprehend why one would compare this to the original hypnotic poison, in performance and otherwise, however this is the best adjacent perfume it has far less spicy notes and the vanilla is more noticeable, it's a scent of its own, a great one at that btw! it's quite long lasting, though the sillage is more intimate. I think it's great for going somewhere you know strong perfume won't be welcome, but you'll smell good to those near you. or for going on a date. I'm not sure though because I kind of got stood up. but it made me think, hey, it would have been worse if I were not wearing sweet hope by la rive. lol. it's truly very comforting and feels like a red velvet embrace.

At first spritz, my first words were "Holy root beer!!". Thankfully, this works BETTER on my skin that Hypnotic Poison. I've tried HP a couple times and something about it doesn't do it for me, though I do love Poison Girl EDP & EDT. This smells like fresh, carbonated root beer with a tiny touch of vanilla. I couldn't possibly love it more!! After about 3hrs the dryness comes out. Still smells like root beer but with a dryness reminiscent of Dior Addict in the background... almost as if they were layered. After about 6-7 hours I just smell the remaining trace of vanilla which on me, disappears only after 12hrs. Excellent! I've paid way more for way less. Sweet Hope is AWESOME!!

So I'm a big Poison fan. Love the og and have some psychological issues with it (the latest version is not okay with me.) But I don't have the same ties to Hypnotic. That being said...I've had the current edt and edp and sweet hope is seriously 100% perfectly good. Is it 1:1? No. Don't be dumb. It's less than $20 shipped. Mainly lacking in richness of vanilla. But I'm telling you, it's pretty fucking good. Any normie wouldn't know the difference. I burn myself out on Hypnotic, it's total love/hate. I bought Sweet Hope as a sub after a 2 year hiatus and I've sailed through half a bottle in 3 weeks. It's good. The best la Rive. No bullshit.

I adore this! So close to Hypnotic Poison... I'm starting to see a trend with La Rive perfumes being great dupes. Seriously, this is almond and vanilla and maybe a bit of coconut wrapped in cozy sandalwood and maybe some musk...there's something really warm and sweet, yet elegant about this fragrance. I'm in love, I paid £6 for 100ml...£6. And it's so close to HP! The only thing is that it doesn't project massively on the skin, you can feel it but I think this might be more suited for a cozy night with the SO where you know someone will be close to you and be able to smell it. But the scent itself is almond-vanilla heaven!

This is nice. Very sweet and almondy. Dries down and kind of reminds me of the root beer barrels candy from my childhood, but in a perfume way. It’s definitely a Hypnotic Poison dupe. Seems a bit sweeter though. Not as much spicy depth. The performance could be better. But for the price, get an atomizer and reapply. I mixed some with an oil dupe I bought on Etsy from Whistle Notes perfumery and this made it beast mode. The oil delivered those spicy notes and definitely improved the blend of the formula.

I have had this a while, and the longer I have it, the more it smells like hypnotic poison. At first I had the same issues as everyone else. Longevity and a bit of a synthetic smell, but it has rounded out over the last year and it’s pretty darn close to the latest formulation. Nothing compares to the original version, but if you’re looking for an alternative that’s way more affordable, this wears pretty much like the latest formulation after sitting for a while!

As much as I adore HP - it can be too much. It was intriguing to see so many people calling Sweet Hope “a great dupe” for HP. Well....it is a softer, a bit sweeter version of HP. Now when I crave the almondy goodness of HP, I do not hesitate for a second: One spray of HP in the air...walk into it, and follow up with 3 or 4 sprays of Sweet Hope directly to the skin/clothing. TaDa! I even got brave enough to wear this combination to the office :)

really nice and affordable Hypnotic Poison dupe, seems to last long enough too! what people are right about is that it is not as complicated/spice-scented as Hypnotic Poison but honestly it's still a very nice kind of 'expensive-smelling' scent for very cheap :) if you want to try hypnotic poison but don't want to pay a lot for it if you're not sure you like it yet, I think this would be great to get first as a sample!

When I first smelled in in the store I was so stunned because I've never smelled anything this good. I brought this without knowing that It's a dupe. Now I've tried a bunch of other Hypnotic Poison dupes, (haven't smelled the original lol) however, nothing comes close to this one. It's my absolute favourite scent so far, I'd wear it every day, however you have to re-apply it every hour or so...

I am almost never a gourmand person but after smelling this perfume... I think I am a changed person! I went to my local stores to smell Hypnotic Poison and compared it to Sweet Hope and I would say it’s 98% similar!!! Hypnotic poison is more heavy, rich and stronger and sweet hope is more light, although still has good silage and longevity. For the price it is 100% reasonable and good. 9/10

Nice soft vanilla scent.I don't have Hypnotic poison but have heard this is similar to it. This was a great blind buy. It reminds me a little bit of Kenzo Amour. I am very happy to own this fragrance..its beautiful. A year later and I have rediscovered my ultimate favorite scent from Bath and body works...Cashmere glow which layers beautifully with Sweet Hope. ❤

I've been on a quest to find a perfume that smells like my favorite flowers: pink oriental Lilies! This is it + the sweetness of vanilla = hypnotic poison for my soul... I am obsessed 😍 THIS love of mine will always stay in my collection!!!

Got this as a gift. The smell is suprisingly so good, the projection isnt that loud but nice enough for someone who just wanted something nice to smell. A good recommendation for those having hypnotic poison dior in their wanted list.

First impression: Root Beer! But without the tingly effervescence that you experience with root beer. Perhaps Root Beer after it's gone flat. I love it!

I love HP, but I got this one cuz it was on discount and out of curiosity and to add it in my La Rive collection... (Tbt, it's cheap without that discount but I have no more excuses why I got it...... ) This smells nice, it's not a total dupe of HP because it is so mild and watered... It doesn't have that dense creaminess like the original..I haven't heavily oversprayed, maybe it would make it stronger..... It's really just a mild perfume inspired by HP, I wouldn't call it a dupe... I like it, I will wear it, it's light and cosy with just few sprays. I feel the exact same type of vanilla in this, which is in separate La Rive perfume and it's called Vanilla touch. It feels like they used that Vanilla touch and added few other ingredients in that pre made perfume mixture. I have another dupe of HP which is not listed here in fragrantica but most of the people in Europe should be able to get it, and that one is a killer... For anyone interested in that one, you can get that in EuroSpin. It's called Sweet Dreams by Fior di Magnolia and it costs around 6 euros... That perfume is so intense, very dense, syrupy, forever lasting dupe of HP. It literally stays on my clothes until washed off in the washing machine... I have bought that one 2 years ago and still have it. It wasn't that strong when I started using it, but when it macerated.... uuuuuuhhhh.... You will need to go easy with the sprayer....... the colour of the liquid turned the reddest transparent bright red I have ever seen in a liquid form.... (It was orange when I got it)... Anyways, give it a try if you prefer strong interpretation of HP...

The reviews don’t lie- smells EXACTLY like Hypnotic Posion... but the vanilla isn’t as rich or expensive/nice smelling. But seriously- even though it was cheap... It wasn’t even worth the purchase for me considering that it literally lasts less than 30 minutes on my skin. I would say it lasts about 15-20 before it pretty much disappears completely. As for the smell-its literally hypnotic posion. Exactly the same. So if you don’t like HP... don’t waste your money. If you do-still don’t waste your money because this doesn’t last for a second- at least on me. When you’re reading reviews always remember that everyones body chemistry is different so it may last forever on you but disappear quickly on me. I paid 20$ for 90/ml on FragranceX. I don’t necessarily regret buying it... but the performance really just isn’t there. Personally, HP lasts FOREVER on me, but its just so expensive so I hoped this would be a cheaper alternative, but the quality just sucks.

I have a bottle of HP from 1998. My mom received it as a gift and didn't like it on her skin, so she gave it to me. I have tried and tried but I just don't love it. The Play-Doh smell is way too prominent to my nose (and it makes me wheeze). I have been wanting to try the new formulation to see if it works for me, but since I have no plans to go in-store any time soon I decided to invest $11 in this in the mean time. I'm pretty pleased with the purchase. I smells a lot like HP but far less Play-Doh! Honestly, the longevity isn't the greatest but neither is HP's longevity. This is a great budget alternative to the Dior or even just a way to test the waters before you splurge. Definitely $11 well spent.

Ok I wore this one yesterday and it is absolutely beautiful. It lasted between 6-7 hours on my skin and I kept getting whiffs of it throughout the day. This is very very similar to Hypnotic Poison, but I like this one better. It has decent sillage and is very dense. I get the coconut on the top but it is very decent. The almond and vanilla are what makes this perfume. Tuberose and plum are not quite as strong as in the original. I can wear this one easily without offending anyone. I'm so glad I found it. It's a great dupe. Unlike HP this can be worn at any time of the day I would say.

This is a gothic vanilla with almond present throughout. I find it only suitable on winter nights. If you overspray this it could lean almost like bug spray. It’s much better in moderation. It is fairly spot on to Hypnotic Poison with decent longevity. I would not splurge on HP if you have this. They’re the same and not worth the extra. You get the same rich strong vanilla. I picture the Queen in Snow White wearing a scent like this.

Okay call me crazy, but I actually prefer this to HP! People with longevity issues- really? That’s too bad because mine lasted through hours and a shower (where I use a loofah). HP turns a little playdoh and cloying on me. It gave me a headache 50% of the time. Not this one! This is everything I wanted from HP. If you love HP, just get it. If that one didn’t work for you for the reasons I mentioned, you should try this!

Everyone is saying that it's a great dupe for Dior Hypnotic Posion but once you try original, you cannot go back. Dupe started to cause me headaches and the more I smelt it, the more unimpressed I was (It lowkey reminds me of a grandma perfume...) If you cannot afford original, this is a good substitute, but if you can afford Dior HP then I definitely recommend buying that.

This is a decent dupe. It is nice, yet light compared to the original. I found a better dupe called Aura of a Woman in a purple alien looking bottle found at Marshalls for like $13. Thank me later ;) But yeah this is nice to layer with that one to get a stronger HP scent. Overall I do like La Rive and I just thoroughly research the ones I buy so that I don't waste my money.

This is not a bad dupe off hypnotic posion it is very alike, but mainly when you compare the two. Sweet love's vanilla is more like a cheap vanilla extract while hypnotic posion is a strong and rich vanilla where you can also smell other notes in the perfume as well unlike sweet hope where you can only smell vanilla and maybe some almond.

I do not own HP, but it is my daughters signature fragrance and she says its a perfect dupe , I love it - without even knowing what HP smells like. It's long lasting and makes me feel cosy in these cold winter days at work. I'm trying to find the coconut but it escapes me, but I do get vanilla and tuberose. I like it very much.

in general, this smells nice. the perfume has a slight citrus note at the beginning (on my skin) and dries down smelling more like vanilla. i have the edp version of hypnotic poison and it does not smell similar at all; it's still a good scent tho, and for the low price it's definitely worth to buy.

It's not as creamy and smooth as Hypnotic Poison, but it's a great dupe especially for the extremely low price! It's a bit too mature-smelling for me to use every day, as I prefer a lighter and more playful vibe for everyday wear, but I still enjoy the scent.

This on me is vanilla, almond with the tuberose and coconut in the background. And I do get a bit of that play doh scent. It’s lovely sweet and creamy, unfortunately it doesn’t last long on me... but for the price I don’t mind respraying. Good dupe for HP.

Having never owned Hypnotic Poison, I can't comment on the likeness of Sweet Hope to HP, but I really like this perfume a lot. I have to say though on me it only lasts 4 hours max and I have to re-apply, but at the price it is, it's not a big deal.

This smells like sweet Jordan almonds with a bubble gum Tuberose and a hint of fresh coconut. It is not as rich-smelling as Hypnotic Poison, but I really like it.....especially for the price! Rating 8.5/10

I’ve had this for a while and find it very pleasant. Today I finally tried Hypnotic Poison at Ulta and agree with everyone who says they’re similar. I personally wouldn’t be able to tell the difference!

Sweet warm vanilla, a tad powdery. For this price, nice. I purchase the small bottle one, for traveling. If i still like it in the long run, i may purchase the full version.

Fantastic dupe for Hypnotic Poison! It smells identical! Probably the best dupe from La Rive to date.

I dont know if it helps, but i did shake it and leave it for a minute. Sweet Hope starts a bit boozy, but i can instantly smell the Hypnotic Poison edt like smell. After it dried down, its smells a tad like Play Doh, especially if you try to smell it on your wrist. The og also smells a bit like Play Doh at start, but even weaker. Two Hours later its intensity is lost by a lot, and it just smells sweet. Pretty Similar to the HP edt, but the original smells sweeter and rounder of higher quality.

This perfume smells like a La Croix version of Hypnotic Poison EDP. It's so faint and watery. I sprayed 10 minutes and it's just gone except a hint of vanilla. It was neat to try it and compare to my HP, but I'd definitely reach for HP over this any time. I might wear this while cleaning the house or something.

It was cheap - yes. Smells very similar to Hypnotic Poison - yes. But it doesn't last. I don't know if it lasted like an hour on my skin. Definitely La Rive has different fragrances that lasted longer on my skin than this one tbh.

This smells like the original, just a watered down version. I would say gift la rive to people that don't like heavily scented perfumes, or people who enjoy layering perfumes with body mists, etc.

HP, but cheap, as expected. lasts up to 2 hours, again as expected. u can’t really smell anything except vanilla when it dries down. definitely a loooot more simple than HP.

Sweet Hope is intriguing. I'm not quite sure if I like it or not but I often find myself reaching for it.

I tried this before splurging on Hypnotic Poison, and literally ALL I got from both this and HP was the gross smell of Play-Doh. I really do envy those that can smell what sounds like a truly lovely scent.

I don't find this to be a very close dupe of Hypnotic Poison. I could be wrong but to me it was lacking in the almond note. It was worth a try but I'll stick to Hypnotic Poison which I adore!

It smells cheap, similar to HP, but cheap. As someone who loves HP, I wouldn't dare to recommend it to anyone. Hypnotic Vanilla from Zara is a way to go.

I haven't smelled Hypnotic Poison to be able to make a comparison, but this one just isn't my cup of tea, there is something about it...

Unfortunately I got the play doh vibes too. Too many different types of notes going on in the scent in my opinion, not a fan.

Gave it away because I can't be bothered to spray it every 10 minutes. It is a shame because it is nice scent but too weak.

This was a faint root beer smell to me. I was not a fan. You would have to overspray to smell it more than an hour.

Sadly this was just too makeupy dusty for my liking. It smelled old on me. I gave it away.
