Voyage sur la route des Épices

What a divine perfume Voyage sur la route des Épices is!!! Oh my! It's such a beautiful smooth rich velvety rose/patchouli/vanilla!!! Absolutely fabulous! Also the tonka beans, lily-of-the-valley, benzoin, and sandalwood are dreamy. I love the whoosh of the camphor at the start - it's not too much, but I love that smell anyway. It's the most sensuously aromatic perfume. Warm, spicy, balsamic, luxurious and feminine; it's so good. It's one of my favourite perfumes. It is stunning. It lasts for hours too!!! And I just adore the bottle and colour!! You know, I have been given so many compliments whenever I have worn it anywhere, more than most of my other perfumes. It's amazing. I love, love, love Voyage sur la route des Épices - even the name is fabulous!!!! Everything about it is wonderful!!!

One of the best blind buys in a while for me. Wonderful spice route fragrance. Lighter than I imagined, but I'm used to a lot of heavy oudy woodsy fragrances. This isn't one of them. It's a fabulous spicy fragrance, almost like something out of the late 1950's, but I can't quite put my finger on what. Twelve hours after I wrote that, I still can't put my finger on what this reminds me of. Not there were a lot of fragrances like this in the late 1950's, or really at any time. It quieted down from the original blast at about the third hour, and lasted well into the 5th hour, when I sprayed on some more. Which sort of messed up my longevity test, but I will say I can still smell it wafting into my immediate space and that's been at least 7 hours. so great longevity I'll say. Great stuff.

Is it the camphor? Or, is it the patchouli? Whatever it is, there is a note that is slightly bitter, slightly aromatic, slightly spicy. I like that very very much, especially the way it blends with the vanilla. It avoids gourmand cliches and provides a warming effect without being cloying. Yes, it is not the first perfume to combine vanilla with something contrasting, but in the case of perfume making, execution matters as much as concept. One of the best vanilla perfumes out there, in my very humble opinion. Incredible performance (easy on the sprays), lasts for days on clothes. I think it has been re-named Ayurvedic.

I have no words to write this perfume. It's like a veil of vanilla, benzoin, amber and all that with a hint of powder. It is simultaneously sensual, comforting and present for hours without being heavy. I'm not usually a fan of oriental perfume and I've been missing this perfume for years because I thought it was not for me. How I regret it!!! Everywhere I go I pick up compliments with him. I agree with Loulou31 for the price we pay it's a perfume like there are very few today. I don't understand why he is not known because he really deserves it.

I cannot describe how much I love this perfume. It's the Perfect cozy oriental i was looking for. It's very longlasting, sillage is heavy and it garners lot of compliments. It's very well blended and ingredients are quality. This is what I smell on my skin : powdery amber, vanilla, patchouli, tonka and sandalwood. It's sweet but not cloying. Signature worthy for sure. Very sensual and inviting.
