Cozumel

This fragrance actually strikes me as very feminine. It is a soft, enveloping, and *almost* powdery woody scent with a little bit of white floral and a hint of clary sage. The basil is only noticeable on me in the first twenty minutes and then the whole perfume settles into something akin to James Heeley's Cardinal. It's exotic and incense-y. Almost like being in church. But it doesn't JUST go the route of resin-y church incense. The hot-sand, beach-like Tonka bean notes in combination with the sage and the hemp evoke the heat of a hot summer day. It reminds me of taking refuge in a cool adobe church after spending hours under the desert sun. In this way, it doesn't say "Cozumel" to me so much as the high desert and the mission churches of the American Southwest. It's this "seeking the cool after the hot" aspect that makes it perfect for wearing in the summer even though you might think this scent was made for cooler weather. It actually seems like a versatile scent that could work year-round. After a brief and unfortunate foray into Heeley's Menthe Fraiche, LO's Cozumel has become my go-to for hot New York City summer days. I have gotten tons of compliments. The longevity is fabulous although it does become somewhat of a skin scent after a while. This doesn't bother me in the slightest--in fact, it feels truer to the entire concept of the scent.

Cozumel A beautifully blended slightly herbal Mysore Sandalwood With a district flowery and coconut note. For those who are not familiar with Mysore sandalwood, it is a soft earthy, warm, milky-sweet and slightly thick woody smell. Its a very calming fragrance and will make you feel centered and content. Cozumel has the capacity to calm my senses so that I feel I am in a small temple-sort-of-space.... If that makes any sense. I would highly recommend it Made beautifully well and though its a skin scent it will last the whole day on clothes. Similar to this perfume is Miller et Bertaux's Indian Study / Santal +++++ Their heart notes and bases are similar with Indian Study being more of a varnished teak wood and sandalwood concoction and Cozumel being a soft flowery sandalwood. 9.5/10 I am very happy.

Cozumel is beautiful! The opening isn't that interesting, but give it 20 minutes and you will get velvety, warm, somehow suede-like tobacco and sandalwood. Sage and cannabis notes are highly detectable and make COZUMEL quite unusual. The base is warm woody goodness, sandalwood and cedar. There's not that much of amber to me, and the overall impression is quite far from being sweet. Really really nice, I like this perfume especially for the suede-like note, not sure where it comes from, but to my nose it's very very present. A true unisex but leans towards guys a bit more, as it's rather dry, although still warm and inviting.

This is a fresh-sour sandalwood to my nose. It has an oily sweet quality that is very alluring if used in small quantities...too much of it ends up smelling like a new wooden toy being taken out from the package, with fresh cut wood and a little bit of paint. The initial blast of bitter green passes rather quickly, and settles into a cocoon-like smell of sage and sandalwood. Overall, the longevity and silage are very good..I noticed that since we got it (I share it with my SO), the house, clothes, literally everything smells of it. I am guessing that those who like wearing potent perfumes will really enjoy wearing this..

Very gentle and sophisticated scent, on the subtle end as far as sillage but the blend is well worth extra attention. On my skin it opened up with fresh citrus notes-bergamot, sage, very uplifting but not pinching the nose in any way. Then, minutes later it gets greener and woodier and sets into a gently bitter tobacco + soft incence + slightly sweet sandalwood. The tobacco note is somewhat post-cigarette-like, but somehow not off-putting, very odd. The cigarette-ashtray note in Black Powder Jusbox for example is almost repulsive, here it's very subtle.

this opens with fresh aromatic basil, with a hint of sweet greenness here and only a subtle pinch of citrus. it's fresh, green, light, and earthy. The tobacco here is earthy, and light, yet it's mixed with a hemp note so it's a very smoky green sweetness. There's warm aromatic spice here with the blend of amber and sage. The dry down is creamy and smooth with a sweet tonka bean and powdery sandalwood, with a perfect addition of smoked incense. The cedar adds some depth here too. You get remnants of a green sweetness in the dry down too.

Finally I had a chance to try this fragrance out today and I must say it fits like a glove in this very hot day in Brazil. The notes oscilates between warmth and coolness and the mix of fresh tobacco, Indian Hemp and velvety wood offers you a passionate fragrance. "It is a truly new way of capturing sensuakity in a perfume"...says the advertising.

Your wooden easel holds a perfect sheet of creamy hemp paper. The herbal smells of nearby plantations are filtered by the surrounding mangrove. Your pencil shavings float in the trade winds as you prepare to draw some waves. This is a personal fragrance, not showy and beautiful because of it.

My very first Olfattivo and I thought I'd go for the more masculine sounding of the samples I received. Cozumel opens well enough with a tiny hint of citrus and clary sage but is quickly populated by a dominant sandalwood. It comes over a bit like a milky, herbal brew which sweetens with tonka bean...It's wearable and everything but doesn't excite me strange really because I like sandalwood a lot. I think it's too subtle and not spicy enough nor does it have good enough notes surrounding it to bring out the creaminess. The drydown is very descrete and hints at getting a little bit dirtier but is still just quite pleasant. Not all that sure what to make of this? It definitely smells like some other scents I've tried so doesn't score well on originality either. Don't get me wrong though, it's a like not a love and performance was okay although it sits very close very quick.

I would definitely like to compare this with L'Orchestre's Piano santal. They both have this highly comforting effect, which I think derives a lot from the round creaminess of the sandalwood. This is way more than just sandalwood though. Its subtle nuances really comes through, although the sandalwood and the amber are the main protagonists. The white tobacco gives off just a faint notion of leather, somewhere in the deep background, but don't be concerned about this. It works incredibly well, even if you don't really like leather (which I actually don't). Would receive a very high rating, if it wasn't for performance problems. I would gladly pay more for just a little stronger formula. Concerning its price point, this is just a little too weak. But if you really like the blend, go for it.

Got a sample of this and wanted to share some thoughts. This is incredibly transportive and realistic to me. I get this smooth dry smell of equatorial flora. Like, I'm entering those zoo/museum recreations of a tropical forest, you get the various greenery, plants and ESPECIALLY this moisture - damp, misty, wet ozonic smell. Not very perfumey, but this makes me feel so good, I'll be a blast for spring and summer. Its quite light and airy, not very pungent or overbearing, I doubt many people will be able to smell this around me. Nevertheless, I really appreciate the way this is composed and the imagery it brings.

This is creamy and nice, if I look for it I can detect complexity and depth. To be honest though, I mostly smell coconut! I know it's not listed in the notes, and I've only seen it mentioned once in the reviews below. It smells like a whole coconut to me, the flesh, the milk and the shell. Trying this in the winter, looking forward to seeing how it does in the warmer months.

It opens with herbal and fresh notes. Then I also smell the incense. Very enjoyable and wereable, it is a comfort scent not aggressive and stunning. The performance are a bit low but I like it and sometimes it can be nice to have a good comfortable fresh interesting scent at skin level.

Interesting fragrance. Kinda of a darker green aromatic testing blind. I get herbal elements but specific notes don't particularly stick out. There's a bit of smokiness too, and in testing blind will have to guess vetiver (but I guess that all the time, and wrong most of the time) as I apparently am here. Looking at the notes now, besides generic "green notes" the mix of basil cannabis, sage, incense, sandalwood, cedar feel more uniformly combined. A hint of sweetness may be coming from the tobacco, but I don't really pick up on tobacco itself. I feel the fragrance is pretty intimate. I don't get much from it beyond a skin sniff not too long after application. Longevity also feels a little lackluster, essentially disappearing midday. For an initial interesting start, it never really makes a strong case for itself. Nice but lacks a bit of staying power.

After an interesting opening with herbs, smoky tobacco and an almost creamy sandalwood that lasts half an hour, Cozumel falls apart sticking to the skin with a very poor performance. The fragrance, during that half hour, smells good, but neither is it that we say this is very original or striking to consider it a good purchase option and more considering the price it has. For me, a fragrance totally dispensable from the perfumist panorama without more. Rating: 5

Paper-pulp sandalwood (Javanol) with coconut milk edge, plus a breeze of minty white pepper. Though only the paper-pulp note last more than 10 seconds.

I've been wanting this for a long time simply because i remember liking it more than ten years ago in a perfumery that was closing down and had everything left on sale. Liked it then, bought some obscure Acqua di Biella bottles instead. It's this itchy "unfinished business" thing I have sometimes for years. Now I found it again. It is easy to wear and nothing special, really, but that's what I always say for a good sandalwood fragrance while at the same time using it more frequently than any other. It is low-voiced, confident and comforting, but what is special is how it is directed towards summer. It speaks summer. A sandalwood fragrance colored pale green with tobacco and a slight milky coconut vibe. Hints of fresh garden herbs in a whiff of smoke help making it light and transparent. Summer woods. Every note is soft and hazy. Quickly becomes part of my chemistry and I forget about it, only to be remembered a day later.
