Jasminade

What a Jasmine from Jean-Claude Ellena! I know Laboratorio Olfattivo and I know they do the things right, so as soon as I knew they were working with Ellena I coudn't wait for the new fragrances, and this is the first one I could get my nose on. Off course this is a jasmine fragrance (yes sherlock!) and what a jasmine! It is super super realistic, so realistic that is different form the usual "perfumery jasmine", it is not super heavy, not artificially indolic, instead the accord is quite "green" more than "white"; despite the very short note list we have some lemon or clary sage here, bitter orange, geraniol, geranil acetate (aka lemongrass) and mentol, that contribute to the freshness and the greeness of the accord, so photorealistic of the smell of jasmines blooming in a fresh night on summer. The thing works wonderfully also bacause Benzyl Acetate is dosed right (so not overdosed to get big longevity and power), thanks Mr Ellena. After the fresh opening it goes a little sweeter while the neroli enters the scene, then stays there as it is susteined by the musks. And yes it is time to speak about the musks: super intense synthetic musks are so common nowdays thanks to the cheap synthetic materials and the big longevity they give to the fragrances (so many, all similiar due to this), but this brings always some scratchy offnotes on the base of many many contemporary perfumes, and to add insult to injury these offnotes last hours and hours (sic!). Not this time! Jean Claud Ellena goes against the trend and opts to underdose musks to just sustain a little bit the composition without extending the performance artificially. The consequences of this choice are that the fragrance is short living and do not have strong projection. On my skin last an hour with medium projection and three more as skin scent to than dissipate almost completely. But what a four hours! I don't regret at all the low performances if they are the price to pay to smell such a perfect accord. I wish more perfumers to make this choice: quality over quantity. About the practicalities: it is a fresh jasmine, perfect for spring or summer evenings, safe for work and gym, enjoy it whenever you want and wherever you like, no one will complain about this fragrance. Unisex. Ok value for price. Overspray safe.

Jasminade is a fragrance that will likely delight lovers of realistic jasmine scents. The jasmine note feels natural, authentic, and beautifully rendered, capturing the flower's character without becoming overwhelmingly heavy. What I particularly appreciated is that the jasmine is not excessively indolic. Many jasmine-focused perfumes can lean too animalic or challenging for my taste, but Jasminade remains relatively clean and approachable while still maintaining a realistic floral profile. That said, jasmine has never been a note that resonates with me personally. While I can recognize the quality of the composition and understand its appeal to jasmine enthusiasts, this fragrance was ultimately a pass for me. Despite its well-executed jasmine accord, it was not something I could see myself reaching for. If you enjoy natural, true-to-life jasmine fragrances and prefer them on the less indolic side, Jasminade is certainly worth trying.
