Tantrico

Tantrico. I had no idea this was a sandalwood attar and i wore this fragrance twice prior. I thought I trained my nostrils quite well, but apparently I have a long way to go. Now that I am aware, I distinctly can pick it up and I am actually ashamed I did not pick it up before. My nose is focused on the aromatic notes like the sage, juniper and even the citrus notes came at me before. What was I thinking? Cypress? Yes. Balsam fir? Yes I get that. Or I got that. The sandalwood went right over my head. But it's punching me in the face today. How funny. Does that say something about me or does that say something about the brand? Maybe this house is better than I thought. This is in the masters collection after all. I don't know much about Tantrism. I do know it is similar to Hinduism and it is very spiritual, magical and mystical. Those are good words to describe Tantrico. It is one of the best sandalwoods I've ever experienced. Laboratorio mentioned on their website that they use the highest quality attars available. Or they make them themselves. I'm not entirely sure of that. What I do know is that, particularly in Islamic cultures, attars attracted angels and repelled evil spirits. Sufi saints would adorn themselves with these scents to assist them in their Journey towards Enlightenment. It is easy to experience the symbolic nature when you have Tantrico on. Other fragrances in this collection such as Vanagloria seem to overshadow Tantrico and I think that is a shame. If you cannot tell by now, I like to talk about fragrances that are not hyped up. This particular one is a good example and it is well deserving to be experienced. If you like meditative fragrances, I recommend you go out of your way and try it. Especially for the price. It's only $165 which is incredible.

I received a mini spray free with another purchase. I never tried this brand before. I’m also a woman. This is VERY good, though it definitely feels more masculine to me. I’m baffled by the negative reviews. This smells like the sexiest man wearing his daily go-to type scent. Spicy woody and fresh. I get nothing off putting at all here. First sniff made me want to buy a bottle for my husband. Smells refined, well blended, quality. Nothing screechy or synthetic at all. Has a touch of BR540 type spicy woods to it but without the sugary base. Light and inoffensive. I’d say office safe, but I’d keep sniffing a man I smelled this on him out at night. Unisex, yes, but slightly more masculine leaning. I noticed nothing off about the opening at all. Smelled like cologne that was just sprayed, as it dries, notes emerge. Standard fragrance behavior. I have no clue what would seem off putting to anyone. This has a mainstream feel to it but is such a better blend and better quality than 90% of the funky weird chemical niche crap I smell on men nowadays. This is a very standard warm fresh spicy woody mens scent well done and well blended with quality ingredients. No synthetic notes, no funky musks, mostly woods and herbs, some quality fresh evergreens, with a touch of spice and citrus. My chemistry isn’t amplifying any musk notes at all. I’m either sampling the wrong scent, or the haters be hating (I’m not sampling the wrong scent). People will like smelling you when you wear this.

Beautiful fresh herbal and resinous perfume. The scent is quite complex and anything but linear. For every hour on my skin it changes and shifts between fresh, slightly bitter citrus notes and resinous, warm woody notes. It starts a bit harsh and stingy. Reminds me a bit of gasoline, probably from the sage. After a few hours it becomes very warm and a bit spicy with a lot of wood but still retains a gorgeous freshness over the resin and wood. Highly recommended if you are into woody, herbal and resinous fragrances. Scent: 8.5/10 Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: 7/10 complexity: 9.5/10

I absolutely adore it. Fresh and smoothly spicy, unique but not bizarre, unisex leaning masculine at first but adapts on skin. (Turns peppery- musky on me and more citric yet deep on my boyfriend) It was the first fragrance I ever tried by LO and I was absolutely impressed by this and anything else that I tried.

it open with some thing woody and a bit sour juniper berry and devolop into woody+piney kind of scent so fresh so clean love this one so much but i think its quiet weak. i suggest you to overspray this fragrance when you wear it.

this is what I would gift to my boyfriend. just enough woody to make a it a little manly, but with a little bit of powder to not make it MANLY MAN territory (that only uses red pepper scents)

Tántrico, just like Vetyverso, doesn’t have a pleasant opening. The opening doesn’t agree with the listed notes, which in both perfumes are adorable ones. Tántrico opens with a very abrasive, chemical, and repellent note. I suspect it may be the musk since it is the only note listed that could sometimes be off putting in other perfumes, particularly when nowadays natural musk is not found in perfumes, but synthetic musk. But ultimately I don’t know for certain what it is, except to say that it is common in both perfumes. Very disappointing with this strident note, whatever it is. Again, I’m surmising it is the type of musk LO is using because, though to a lesser degree, I detect some of the same smell in the opening of Limone, Mandarino, and Bergamotto, all created by a master nose, Jean-Claude Ellena. Beside the citrus note these perfumes feature, they all share that same musk note. An opening to a perfume ought to be inviting to what follows. This smell is just not alluring. If you give Tantrico time, approximately 30 minutes, this smell will tone down (it really doesn’t go away but it will calm down), to yield to and appreciate the rest of the notes. After 30 minutes, what I get from Tantrico is a piney, woody, green perfume with a light sandalwood background. That part I like but that smell in the opening lingers just enough for me to say “no more”... I bought this perfume as a blind buy, just as I purchased Vetyverso, because I love this house and I’m a sucker for sandalwood, just like a sucker for Vetiver. However, regrettably both perfumes have been disappointments due to their long-lasting harsh opening note. LO, please, reconsider the musk you are currently using in your perfumes.

Agree with reviewers describing this as weak. It's pretty pleasant. Woody and powdery. I could see wearing it as a sort of neutral default on the daily. Honestly, I would be super excited if there were an underarm deodorant that smelled like this. As I always caveat, my nose isn't trained enough to pick out the subtle notes, but this really smelled to me like just a couple of pretty basic scents. EDIT: This has grown on me. It's interesting enough, but not overwhelming. It's welcoming, grounded, and in that safety is seductive. Yet as one settles in, it blossoms into a blissful harmony. I still don't smell the complexity that's promised. And yet, as I was throwing laundry in, the smell of a shirt I'd been wearing while wearing this captivated me.

While I appreciate Vetyverso, Tantrico just doesn’t do it for me. I find pepper can be a challenging note, but when paired with vetiver, it often creates a beautiful, earthy accord. Here, however, the absence of vetiver allows sichuan pepper to dominate the heart of the fragrance. It’s a shame too, because the opening was so intriguing: clary sage was used generously, adding a lovely aromatic quality to the bitter grapefruit and the balsamic, pine-like juniper berry. I also wish guaiac wood had been used in the heart instead of sandalwood, as it would have complemented the composition better. My main issue with Tantrico is that other fragrances handle these elements far better in my opinion. Terre d’Hermès and Vetyverso make better use of grapefruit and pepper, Contralto and Penguin let juniper berry shine, and Secret Absolu showcases cypress more beautifully. Sadly, Tantrico just doesn’t measure up for me.

Herbal and Oudy Strong fragrance but in an iconoclastic way. Smells generic like a designer fragrance. This is famous out there for sandalwood fragrances but its buried in a very strong oudy woody note. If you are looking for good sandalwood fragrances look at Miller et Beratux's Indian study and Cozumel by this same brand. This one is not a pleasant fragrance to start off with but I am not put off by it, it may have its uses. It is a good fragrance but definetly not for my taste. It opens spicy-fresh with gineper plus hesperidic to become some sort of photorealistic pine forest odor. Had a couple of full wears and I can image someone enjoying this on a fall day, it is somehow relaxing and quiet. Quite long lasting without having too much projection. Price is ok for value. But... well... I don't like to smell like an humid pine forest I suppose.

This wasn’t exactly a blind buy, but I didn’t sample it beforehand either. Is there a term for that? A “visually impaired buy,” maybe? Whatever you call it, after sniffing half the store, this one whispered loudest to me. In the scent chaos of the boutique, it was hard to parse—just woods and pepper at first, with whispers of something darker underneath. The initial spray? Think damp cardboard or a mildewy paperback (and not the charmingly vintage kind). But wait. Give it some time and it shapeshifts into the most gorgeous sandalwood. Juniper pirouettes on top, bright and playful, while the pepper softens into a smoky backbone that lingers. An hour into the dry-down, the white musks creep in, sweetening the deal without cloying. It reminded me of Hermès’ Poivre Samarcande dialed down a notch—simpler, less intimidating, both in price and personality. But it is a heavy sprayer if you want any amount of silage. Not my most brilliant impulse splurge, but hey, it could’ve been a disaster. I do like wearing it with Eau Duelle EDT to punch it up some.

It's interesting how polarizing this perfume seem to be. I would be skeptical to open-handedly positive and unnuanced reviews, who almost comes across as paid contributions. Negative reviews are never paid, positive reviews might be. It's rarely I dislike a perfume, but both Tantrico and Vetyverso makes me want to take them both off. I think they are quite similar in a way. The opening is acceptable, but then it becomes almost sour, which is just so unattractive. I really don't get this, at all. I think it may be due to the combination of juniper, and balsam fir. On their own, they can often contribute to a sticky, somewhat pungent and overall unappealing experience. Even if the idea of strong forest green fir-, or juniper notes appeal to you, I don't recommend this perfume, not even for sample.

Tantrico Overall: 4/10 Projection: 6/10 Longevity: 5/10 Sillage: 6/10 Comments: Tantrico is a cypress and pepper forward fragrance. Similar to Vetyverso, Laboratorio Olfattivo seems obsessed with adding way too much pepper. The cypress and cedar notes are definitely accurate but overall this fragrance has nothing for me. The sandalwood is pretty long lasting. At least this fragrance is not offensive from afar.

Took me a while to figure out what this reminds me of. It’s orange flavoured chewable Vitamin C tablets. Especially on first spray. It dies down somewhat over time, but remains fairly linear. It’s till a nice scent. I will give it some more time and hopefully I can pick up the wood and Sage profiles.

I usually test fragrances before looking into the pyramid. To my nose, it is an 80% frankincense fragrance, and I am shocked that the note is not indicated here.
