Vetyverso

It's a mastapeece. Got a bottle. Peppery, harmonic vetiver and sage, like a platonic image of its natural ingredients, refined and slightly abstracted without becoming crudely modern. Great longevity with polite presence: the sage and musk, its fixatives, are used with great restraint not to overpower the aromatics. Sage and cedar are the stars of the drydown, never losing the cool, calming crispness that characterize this perfume. It's a superb composition that couldn't achieve what it does without modern chemistry, yet feels apothecarial and deeply respectful of its ingredients. I'd wear this any day, any season, any occasion. The only reason I can think to avoid this one is if you don't like clary sage, which is the mastermind component here.

When a sleek personality like Lucien Ferrero touches upon vetiver you may expect the magic to happen. This is actually the case. Smooth, elegant and with a “pastorale “ vibe, an ode to a radiating country morning. Glossy cedar entrenched with high quality white musk, vetiver and nutmeg. In fairnesses, there are to low key iterations around the same concept: The first one being Vetiver Sireta for 15 euros, the second one, a discontinued NY&CO “Grandi a classici” Vetiver (it sold for about 50 euros more than 10 years ago). Ferrero’s compelled me to buy Vetyverso as the quality shines on this. Beautiful souls mandate a heritage to be bequeathed. Glorious morning to everyone

An intriguing take on vetiver. Fresh and spicy at first, then gradually deepens, greener and more earthy. The citrus atop spiced by nutmeg and carnation gives it a unique cologne-like opening. There is a tinge of fruit in this trail as well. The dominant vetiver note then appears, moderated by pepper and makes its presence felt unto the dry down. An olfactive woodiness introduced by cedar anchors the scent at the base. The base is made lovely by clary sage, giving it a unique twist as it accompanies musk in the dry down! Beautiful scent and quite unique! This is unisex. Highly recommended!

Growing on me. Purchased about a dozen decants of Vetiver dominant fragrances a year ago and it was lost in the crowd. Now revisiting it and I’m finding it more unique and quirky than originally. Has a nice 8+ hours length but is not a sillage bomb even with over application. Bitterness up front that I didn’t recognize as orange. What is distinct early is a peppery note. The Vetiver is a bit dirty and lies underneath. Not dominant. There is a long woody finish that has a powdery talcum like quality to my nose. A very curious blend of bite up front with fresh dry down. Very wearable.

This is the best vetiver fragrance I’ve ever smelled. The opening burst of bitter orange is followed by hefty doses of black pepper and pink pepper, which highlight the vetiver’s terpenic and spicy qualities. As it dries down, the vetiver lingers impressively long, while sage and cedar subtly emerge, adding herbal and woody depth. The scent feels complex yet seamlessly blended.

I absolutely LOVE this fragrance. It’s so unique and different than anything else in my collection. Tons of compliments when I wear it. The warmth and softness yet freshness of the Vetiver, is amazing. The perfumer did a fantastic job with this richly exotic blend. I highly recommend it!

Amazing High quality smooth vetiver with freshness and woodyness, really well blended, easy to wear

Testing this blind, I found it smokey but smooth, woody and herbal. I quite enjoyed this and having it been a while since my last review it was a nice reminder why I like the variety of going through all these various scents. This was just forward enough without being a smoke or wood bomb. There's enough herby elements and pepper to keep it interesting. Overall , just well balanced, and just intoxicating enough to conjure up walking through that herby forest. I don't get any orange, nutmeg, or musk really, it's more dry, but not kiln wood dry. Projection was strong and it lasted well over 12 hours on me. Something to consider when looking for herby woods with a hint of smoke.

Reminds me of a mix of the base notes of Czech & Speak F&M cologne mixed with the original vintage Grey Vetiver formula made by Harry Fremont. Doesn't remind of Guerlain Vetiver at all. Great scent with a crisp and clean finish in the drydown. If you like the original vintage Grey Vetiver formula, I think you will like this one. Can be worn just about anywhere and in any scenario for a clean professional vibe. Decidedly masculine with a flint edge kinda like the flint in TDH. Good stuff, but not as good as the others it reminds me of.

I own this one. I like it but I don’t love it because I think there is too much pepper in here. Let’s face it, smelling pepper is not appealing to most people. “Oh honey, you turn me on with all that pepper smell...”. It doesn’t happen. It is used in perfumery mainly to enhance another note, typically citrus. Vetyverso can be much better with a little less pepper.

Such a powerful pepper and vetiver accord. It feels grandiose, fancy, formal, but also of a deep, dark forest. If I could describe what place it evokes, it'd be something like entering a enormous, dark mansion lit up by warm-coloured braziers like the ones you see in movies.

This didnt blow me away, ended up reselling my bottle. Its not a bad fragrance, just not that exciting. Price point is good and performance isnt too bad either.

Very very dry vetiver (which I like) but it feels incomplete and like it needs something to smooth and round it out a bit. Maybe some cashmeran and a brighter citrus top. And unfortunately there's a note somewhere between plastic and rubber that makes the fragrance almost medicinal and ultimately unsuccessful.

Would fit right in with the Comme des Garcons "Blue" line with the prominent pepper in the composition, to the tee, similar theme and style. Very Avant-garde, modern, and forward thinking. Not that it smells bad, but its Not for me. I can appriciate the skill needed to put this together, nice work Lucien Ferrero. Young guys if you're looking for wearable day-to-day frags that arent the Mall/Department store scents with aroma-chem, try this out and anything in the CdG "Blue" lineup.

Vetyverso Overall: 2/10 Projection: 6/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 7/10 Comments: Vetyverso could be a substitute for pepper spray. With both pink and black pepper in the heart notes, I immediately recoil when smelling this. I'm sure the carnation and orange would be beautiful if I could smell them underneath all the pepper. Hours later, once the pepper is all gone, it's mostly just vetiver and musk which on its own I don't care for.

Comparisons to Guerlain's Vetiver aren't inaccurate; I think the latter is more complex, but Vetyverso is made slightly more modern smelling thanks to the pink pepper, which gives a fruity, warm spicy, modern aroma. If I have to chose, I'll take Guerlain, as the formula has more complexity and depth. Nice spicy Vetiver scent nevertheless. It's classic smelling, especially because of the carnations, but has a modern twist.

An intense dark green vetiver, I smell sage and it is a wonderful combination with vetiver. The fragrance is pleasantly spicy, it is a high class vetiver that is not annoying, too strong, too smoky or earthy. It is a very natural, gentlemen-like perfume.

Very rough & harsh take on vetiver, nothing to balance or smooth out the scent. Bitter, rooty, gasoliny and I can understand the association with bug spray in the comment below.
