Eau de Lacoste L.12.12. Noir

Totally love this! Only thing I'd want to see improved is projection. Opening surprisingly had a lot of tonka in it for me (I'm guessing I'm getting this from the Cashmeran and the other base note that's very musky/vanilla - the two things I always end up associating with tonka in fragrances), which I wasn't expecting based on reviews. The watermelon focus edged into a really fresh scent - verbena always gives me a citrusy vibe since it is commonly paired with lemon, and my skin tends to pick up even the smallest iota of lavender in a fragrance, so those come through as well. The chocolate is not gourmand as it is almost earthy: I get a sweetness from the watermelon/chocolate combo, sure, but it's not cloying. Ultimately, a more unique summer fragrance, and one that I want to add to my collection for sure.

I didn't expect a lot from this fragrance but I'm pleasantly surprised. It's a bit of an enigma as I find it both unique and generic. Generic in the sense that it smells fresh, masculine and people pleasing. Unique in the fact that it has facets to it that blend wonderfully together and you do get wafts of the individual notes every now and then. Reminds me a lot of YSL Y Live but with a slight green tinge and a shower gel vibe. All in all it is a very masculine and likeable scent with a longevity of around 6hrs on my skin. Not the greatest of performers but one that the ladies are sure to love. Not sure why this scent has such a low score on here in comparison to others but I thoroughly enjoy this scent and others are bound to aswell.

I find this fragrance quite compelling. It smells so familiar like it's reminding of a soap I smelled many years ago. I really like this, especially the later dry down. I'm REALLY surprised Lacoste or whoever makes their fragrances haven't released an EDP or other flankers of this when there are several of Lacoste Blanc. They could have a huge hit on their hands if they brought out a stronger version. As it is I don't find it weak, but it seems to be a closer or more intimate kind of scent, extremely versatile & pleasant, paradoxically an easy reach wear anywhere, anytime scent but with a certain air of mystery. Such a nice surprise & discovery.

A fresh cute fragrance... the mixture of watermelon and fresh spicy make a pleasant sensual scent. Don't understand the opposition on here. I'm not a fan of Lacoste scents whatsoever. I think I might've liked the white one a bit but I much prefer Noir. I've noticed some comments criticizing it for not being a dark scent but I have to disagree somewhat. Its dark, but not heavy. Its light (projection was nonexistent on me but it did last a good couple of hours very very close to the skin) but still dark. I think its elegant for a moderate-class cologne. I recommend it.

This Fragrance is nice clean and soapy🧼 and more on the green side. This is like the modern day Father cologne( millennial and younger), the scent you want to be wearing when you start your family if that makes sense lol. Very nice, even better on a warm day. 8/10 UPDATE: I’ve had it for about almost 6 months (09/26/2022) and I can say it’s one of those fragrances that you’ll keep coming back to every few months and think to yourself “why don’t I wear this more often”.

This has such a great opening.. the watermelon is wonderful and fresh. it is the best "water" note I have smelled... just like after a rain... the dry down was surprising with the chocolate. I will have to spray this on my clothes to help the performance which is not very good. I blind bought this for the watermelon and was well pleased.

Fragrance snobs need to seriously get off their soap box. This fragrance is very nice. As far as being boring and generic- name one fragrance that smells like this. I can't think of one... It's not the most amazing thing I've ever smelt, but it's not bad either. Solid summer fragrance that DOES NOT smell like everything else..

I just bought this from my local mall and WOW!!! It is similar to the White L.12.12. but darker. It doesnt have that sour opening but rather a smooth melon note. This is a great fragrance and could be a everyday scent or a work scent. I recommend this and dont let people on here bash it. Its great 9/10.

love it! am a big fan of the brand because of its clothing line but this is the only scent that caught my attention and made me want to try out their perfumes. true story: while i was paying a bill, the cashier even apologized that she got distracted because of how good i smell.

Just got this from tj maxx for 36 bucks, got it cause i recently got the blue one, this is actually not bad, smooth aromatic opening, with that subtle melon note, the chocolate gives it a slightly smokey vibe. Surprisingly well blended for the price. Good form lacoste!!

Not bad for my first Lacoste fragrance. Smells clean and fresh, perfect for my rich kid getup: polo shirt, shorts and topsider. Performance is decent Edit: Wow, I'm in love with the scent, a 9/10. How I wish the performance is better 6/10

Smelled this yesterday @ Macy's.It's very smooth and sensual. Definitely darker compared to the other Lacoste offerings. I didn't find any of the recent Lacoste fragrances interesting, but I would really recommend trying this one.

I like it, especially the drydown, love the dark chocolate. It's also amazing for the price. Projection is a bit weak though. Good everyday fragrance for me.

Brilliant watermelon opening but the scent changes a lot after that. A lot of 'grown up' type of scent in the dry down. 8.999/10 :P

A real solid fragrance from Lacoste and this 1 took me by surprise ! This has a really fresh,sporty transparent opening that eventually dries down to a nicely blended scent of watermelon,chocolate and lavender. This scent although kind of generic is a scent that really stuck out to me and watermelon,chocolate, and lavender doesn't sound like it goes together but Lacoste definitely made it work. 1 thing that did disappoint me was I was hoping the chocolate in this was richer but instead its kind of similar to a dark transparent musk. With that said, it's still a very nice scent and I really enjoy this scent and I'd say it's my 2nd favorite scent from Lacoste with my favorite being Lacoste essential Sport. ( Also if you liked Dark Temptation from Axe and wanted to upgrade this would be a perfect scent) Performance was only average--- it lasts 3-6 hours and projects average as well... Also a downside to this is in the mid I get some weird note that reminds me of a taco truck....lol. But in the drydown that goes away. Overall rating---7.5 out of 10 ! Unique scent that I will definitely wear when I want a freshie that's a little different but I can only give this a like as it's not 1 of my all time favs.

This fragrance has a very fresh opening of watermelon which was a nice surprise given that (at the time) it was my first application, then after a while it drifted through to the lavender (which I liked) was very sweet and not too harsh on the nose. When the dark chocolate came out towards the end of this fragrance is when I loved it the most if I’m honest. Longevity and projection was 2-3 hours on me, this is why I used Lacoste L.12.12. Noir very sparingly during the spring and summer months, as I wasn’t sure where to place it if it was going to go in my list of rotation fragrances that I already owned, purchase this if you happen to adore watermelon, lavender and dark chocolate together. Overall, this was a very pleasant and well blended fragrance to me, one that I would recommend that you try out for yourselves. It is unique in that it doesn’t come across as every other generic fragrance out there on the store shelves. So, give this little gem a chance.

Received a sample from Fragrance X, and I found the progression unusual (in an interesting way) even if the ride was a little jerky. The opening felt like a mixture of melon, honey, and shampoo. Then it vanished almost completely before returning as green and herbal. (I felt like I was in a market buying sprigs of fresh basil although the sweetness of the lavender was present, too.) This faded into what I call a mild "Turkish Delight" phase with the coumarin and patchouli which felt pretty commonplace. (I don't think I detected chocolate or much in the way of woodsiness.) There is a tiny bit of chemical tang in the dry down, but overall this felt fairly well-blended. The opening was worth experiencing even if the later phases are standard. You might need to spray more than a little and you might need to reapply (even though the sample says "intense") but I like it enough that I'd consider wearing it again.

Nose Note #787 I first had Armaf Radical Blue a while ago and at the time it had the most votes for being the Lacoste Noir clone. I don't know what happened, but the situation changed. Honestly, it smelled like the note breakdown of Noir much more than the Noir itself - watermelon and chocolate, both dark, fresh and sweet. The OG is noticeably different, but the openning is especially similar. Both are very likeable, but I must say I like the OG better. Especially the drydown just smells like a cold green tea accord to me, so beautiful. But Armaf is much stronger and projects better. Lacoste is very meh in terms of performance. It's also definately is in the vicinity of CH Chic for Men and Ajmal Blu, i.e. Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce, but different, more aquatic, much less lavender and the fruitiness is very different. 7.4/10, very good, but a bit pricy

I'll cut to the chase: this smells like a 00's Musky Coriander, despite neither musk nor coriander being listed in the ingredients. It's something that wouldn't be out of place in a 2010's AXE lineup. That's not a diss; it's perfectly wearable by anyone from their 20's-40's. There is a Watermelon and Chocolate note. The watermelon picks up the "high" of the fragrance, the "coriander", while the chocolate contextualizes and deepens the musk. Lacoste has a reputation for being cheap, but I find their takes on common scents actually quite refreshing and very well blended. If only they used stronger, more expensive ingredients, I think they could turn around their image. It is true this scent disappears off the skin in twenty minutes.

Husband and I tested this one day and really liked it and put it on the buy list. Picked up a 100ml for $35 at the Fragrance Outlet as a BOGO %50 off. I just sprayed on my wrist to test, on me its honestly pretty subdued compared to how amazing it smells on my Husband. On him I really get the sweetness/darkness of the base notes with Lavender/Basil top. The verbena adds a greenness that tempers everything, and the watermelon just comes off as that ozonic after the rain freshness/taste. I have to advise anyone interested in Lacoste Fragrances they honestly wont do much for you silage and performance wise if you a sedentary. My Husband hardly ever sits still, so the Lacoste line up really shines on him.

There's something about the opening of Lacoste Noir that I find kinda nauseating. The drydown is okay though -- smells like the usual men's aftershave/deodorant, but at the same time, it smells like a 'darker' Lacoste Blanc. Saw an older review saying that this is a great alternative to Axe Dark Temptation so I gave it a try. Sadly they don't smell similar to me at all. This doesn't have that distinct chocolatey smell that ADT has. As for its longevity, it was disappointing. Gone within 30mins to 1 hour when sprayed on skin. Need to spray more than 10 times on your clothes to make it last. Kinda disappointing since it has 'intense' in its name and it's not even that cheap.

A blind buy for my 3rd Lacoste frag. Compared to Blanc, you'll get away from the strong citrus opening. The opening of this is milder, soapy, subdued. You can use Blanc for outdoors, this one is more of an indoor scent. Blanc mas matapang and I guess longer lasting. Mid dry down both are similar knowing that they come from the same DNA. After 2 hours Blanc still is coming strong. Noir settled down to a very light skin scent. This is still a good buy. Scentwise will get compliments, non cloying on resprays. I still have to smell again that watermelon note that it is known to have. You'll never go wrong with Lacoste. 👌

To start off, this is the first and only Lacoste fragrance I have tried and I do enjoy this fragrance. While the main notes are watermelon and chocolate, I will tell you that the scent is not too sweet and does smell masculine. I am impressed with the longevity as it will last six plus hours. Would I buy this again? While I do like this fragrance, I will say that is somewhat of a basic cologne that you would expect from a retail store brand. So with that being said I would probably not buy it again. Yet, if asked I would say that it is a quality product and not priced bad. The Gents score ( 7/10 )

To be sincere, this smells really good. The watermelon opening is attractive and brings some originality. But the originality stops there. After that it turns into a nice fragrance. With notes that resemble many other perfumes. With the name 'noir' I was expecting something dark and heavy. But this is more like a sport scent. Wood and spices are light and the verbena last for a while. It's a safe fragrance, the ones that you can give as a gift without any risk, like Eternity or CK One.

this fragrance has a lovely watermelon opening which settles down to woody lavender notes ,it is a very pleasant fresh fragrance ideal for work after sport and shower.lacks the power of some fragrances in this line eg. Lacoste L.12.12 Rouge but nevertheless i love it and i am going to use it as a spring/summer refresher. i have Lacoste white on its way and green and yellow on my wish list ,i am sure they will all show a unique slant making them worth buying blind

I dont understand the hate for this. I think its a pretty pleasant scent. Watermelon is a note i never really come across so its a nice change from everything else i own. The chocolate is pretty subtle but i pick it up from time to time. Longevity is better than people say. I've had my bottle for 2 years, and it has been through a very intense heatwave last year. That being said I still get around 5 hours, but I used to get 6 or 7. Good frag, safe blind buy. 7/10

Ahh my first fragrance both 2 years ago. It has really pleasant smell, nothing to complain about, maybe only that it doesn't resemble noir fragrance. Pretty universal use-case, I can imagine someone wearing it during winter. The only disadvantage at least for me is poor performance. I have legit bottle but I seem to get no sillage, barely any projection and longevity, maybe 30mins to an hour. Would be great fragrance if it lasted and projected more

While the notes look fantastic, I am hesitant to get too excited as both my white and red fragrances have such fleeting longevity and projection that I'm not even sure it would be worth it... Edit: Tested it yesterday, two firm sprays to back of hand, and just like its siblings, Noir feels both familiar/safe albeit very pleasant, and only lasted about two hours on me :-( Will have to start using these with unscented body oil or lotion...

The watermelon opening is just lovely, smells very refreshing. As it dries down, it slowly turns itu aromatics lavender smells that mix very well with the Tonka. I don't pick up the chocolate notes weirdly, maybe a bit but very faint. Performance 5 hours max, maybe if you spray more on clothes you'll get 6 hours, with moderate towards weak projection. Overall, it just ok, considering the price.

This fragrance start of with a sweet note from the water melon note alongside a warm and a little hint of the dark chocolate, after a little bit it dry down to a very masculine dark smelling scent but fresh at the same time. Definitely can be use all day only suck that it dont really last long, due to the performance it is not really worth it

I dont have a real nose for different notes, but I do get the sweet opening, then dries down into a more woody aquatic scent. On skin, I got about 4 and a half hours of smell, but I also sprayed it on my shirt, which I can still smell now post 12 hour work shift. Really great value too. Sub 40 on jomashop.com

The first spray, Lacoste fragrance in the show ozone fragrant thick and watermelon. in the middle phase, fragrant chocolate smell is very warm, but the watermelon did not leave. In the last phase of fragrant brown and amber begin to be felt. This perfume is suitable for night. and during the day only 40%.

Starts off sweet but not cake sweet, which is great. Evolves into something more dark and woody. I do believe there is an inscense note there. This one has great versatility it seems but I don't think I'd weat it in summer. I do like this but not as well as Lacoste Blanc. 7.5/10 overall

Not bad at all mainly Watermelon and dark chocolate make a good scent. It project a little bit but not a bad thing. Sporty, Very safe for work casual use and dates. Perfect for spring, summer and fall but I think not for the winter. 2-3 sprays 4 to 7 hours 6.5/10 I would buy it anyway

Good stuff the black is the best out of the L12.12. Collection followed by the white I just bought the black haven't worn it yet but i sprayed it on my wrist and it lasted for 3 or 4 hours its a nice light scent its perfect for the summer or nice spring and fall days

Okay so I used to have a cheapie by Hollister called Sea. Its discontinued now but this is the closest I got to it. Peppery, smooth, fresh, aquatic but mixed with gourmand powdery cocoa, and has a slight classic aftershave vibe. Easy wear just go light on sprays!!!

I like the overall smell - a good mix of Watermelon & Chocolate which you can identify only after few minutes of applying. The only issue with this frag is it does not long last !! Longevity is a huge failure. I'll rate this 5/10

Off all the 3 Lacostes I owned (Red,White) this is the unique one. I never had a perfume with a watermelon before although I live in a tropic country. But, I hope the watermelon empowered the chocolate more. 7/10 for me.

I guess it's ok? Nice but boring. Linear, pleasant scent that reminds me of a dozen other fragrances. If you can get it cheap and want to smell nice but blend in with the crowd, you may like it.

One of my go-to perfumes. Likeable, fresh of basil and not too summering despite of the watermelon note , for which i'm not so crazy. Worth a try

The performance on this is a joke, even 10 sprays on a close to 2 year old bottle it barely lasts! I rotate what I wear and tried every trick to make it last longer, it won't, I can see why no one talks about this one. Scent wise. this is going to sound really silly. Imagine someone washing the dishes with Palmolive original "Essential clean" dish soap (the green one) and they have Drakkar Noir on. The dish soaps scent is slightly over powering the Drakkar Noir as you're far away from the person. The only way to get this to last is by bathing in this, like 20+ sprays as it refuses to project or perform. This is for collectors who want all the fun colorful lacoste bottles in their collection. As this won't set you back as much as Ralph Lauren Polo or Parfums De Marley bottles. Don't get me wrong, I like the scent, it's a slightly youthful take on Drakkar Noir, but I feel ripped off due to the price and how pathetic the longevity is. I guess I've got a nice bedroom spray when I need to freshen it up. Thanks Lacoste! I could have bought 3 bottles of Drakkar from a discounter for this price. The opening - It starts off surprisingly green and fresh, there's some dirtiness from the patchouli mixing with the basil, it's something that goes away before it becomes an issue. This isn't too far from something axe body spray could put out. Dry down - The sweetness from the watermelon becomes more apparent, it's this transparent fruity sweetness that hovers above anything else in the fragrance is how I'd describe this. It mixes with this dark atmosphere, it's green as in woody and tree like, without being too green where people would think you just chopped a tree. After 2 or 3 hours unless you bathe in it, it's completely gone. Cheap flea market or dollar store fragrances perform just as well. This could be a gym fragrance, something to wear at school or the office. There's nothing I dislike about the scent, if the price was more justifiable, around $25-30 Canadian I wouldn't be mad. It would make a great gift for a loved one. Whether it be a fresh new bottle, or something to give a friend or family member when you're bored of it. Who is going to know! Keep the box. No one can see through the paint. For cheaper fragrances for gifts there's way better options in this price range, middle eastern or not. Someone with a large collection will surely find this redundant to own as there's at least 5 or 10 fragrances that are almost identical to this. Perhaps with a small twist or two. How huge Drakkar was in the 80s, which, it won awards and the fact people are still wearing it of course there will be countless fragrances inspired by it. Perry Ellis - 360 blue (1996) Alrehab - Dakar Lomani - Pour Homme Caesars World - Caesars Man Issey Miyake - Nuit D'Issey EDT (not exactly, but a modern take) If you see a used bottle for $20-30 Canadian maximum, try it, but if you can get Drakkar Noir for less as it's around $16 to $20 Canadian for 100ml on fragrancebuy. Get it instead, you won't feel ripped off. If you want a modernized version, in a good way. Issey Miyake - Nuit D'Issey (EDT). Imagine Drakkar Noir, Polo Green and Terre D'Hermes EDT were put in a blender. You've got to like grapefruit to pull it off.

This one’s fun and pleaaant enough. It’s pretty soapy and fruity at the opening, on the sweet side. It lingers there a while and slowly the chocolate base starts to show. Perhaps I only noticed that because of the notes... I tend to go for fresh scents, this one’s a little in the sweet side for me, not quite it but a pleasant diversion. Feels like a fun young scent, probably a good unisex option without being overly girly or boyish. I wear lucky you by Claiborne a lot, have for a long time. While that’s more crisp and synthetic, primarily green, this one feels like a good soapy option to that scent. No they’re not the same but it will do the same job with a less green profile. More fruit here, like a heavy dash or ck eternity with some more richness behind the soapy apple profile of eternity. Pretty versatile, would make a solid daily wear, though it drops off halfway through the day and isn’t a strong projector. Buy it for a young person in your life.
