L.12.12 Silver Grey

Lacoste L.12.12 Silver Gray is an aromatic, woody, and amber fragrance. Its opening is citrusy and aromatic, very easy to appreciate. Over time, it becomes more floral and aromatic with a fougère accord of lavender and geranium, maintaining the ease of use and pleasantness that Lacoste fragrances are known for. As it dries down, it becomes more ambery, but retains aromatic nuances. This Lacoste fragrance, like almost all of their fragrances, is easy to wear, pleasant, and aromatic. It will appeal to people of any age, in any season, and is suitable for casual situations, the office, university, etc. On me, it lasted almost 8 hours, staying close to the skin. Lacoste L.12.12 Silver Gray is an easy-to-like and very versatile fragrance. For those who want a fragrance for everyday use and without complications, it is a good option, but if you are looking for something new or unique in Lacoste, it will be difficult to find.

The key note here is lavender. Around its lavender core, it feels coniferous, forest-y, very aromatic with a touch of fruitiness. Not really the playful, youthful stuff one might expect from Lacoste, but instead a more serious, more mature and classy profile that smells clean, fresh, very masculine, with a modernized old school fougere vibe.This reminds me of something between Bottega Veneta Pour Homme and Eternity for Men with an added touch of mass appeal for the contemporary crowd. The main problem is that after its first half hour it loses all the glow and strength, becoming generic, thin and very forgettable. It's one of those fragrances that have a very interesting start and then fade into oblivion... Such a pity. 7/10

I don’t get how people are mad it it been simple and generic, that’s it’s point. This line has always been an easy dumb reach option, for short activities and spot sessions, a gym scent if you will. And if you view it as such, it’s actually got a fair bit of character which in todays sea of overly sweet mush is quite refreshing. It’s not as uplifting as Blanc, incense replacing the fruits and aromatics in a sexy way, you get some mild old school lavender vibe which is extremely pleasant, drying down to pure sweet high quality smooth ambroxan. For the price it’s decent, you get a good 3-4 hours of smelling fresh, in a way that is both modern and classic. Far from ground breaking but a welcome release non the less.

I absolutely love this stuff, yes it's as generic as you can get but the smell is undoubtedly very nice and mass appealing and super duper masculine in the best ways. Closest fragrances to compare it to is Coach for men and Michael Korrs pour homme... it's got some of that pear/kumquat smell to it in the opening but then the generic backbone/dna you'd find in coach for men and Michael Korrs pour homme. Maybe even the jimmy choo fragrances have some of this style dna to them as well, but I do prefer this over jimmy choo and michael korrs pour homme. Edit - actually now it smells more like Bvlgari pour homme to me which I actually love that fragrance too

I tried this again, I know fragrance is subjective but I don't really understand the hate too much. It's a pleasant scent to me. Although it doesn't really do anything radically different from many other modern fragrances at least it's not as overly sweet as many supposedly amber-focused fresh masculine scents of recent times. Lavender, ambroxan and vetiver seem to be most prominent. Cool bottle, decent if not mind-blowing or original scent but well, I doubt many expected it to be anything too out of the ordinary.

Discovered this scent through one of those free sample ads on instagram and I’m pleasantly surprised by it! Ideal gym scent. I can pick up a 50ml for £27 right now which is really good value for what it offers. Fresh, masculine and modern with the faintest touch of class. Good job free sample ad!

The tangerine in the opening is sharp and juicy (only the juicy part is there, no peel), but unfortunately mixed with the frankincense and the geranium it ends up reminding me of sweat. In the drydown it ends up aromatic and smelling somewhat herbal, bitter but not unpleasant

Smells different in a good way easy on the nose puts you in a happy mood, but it is so weak that I feel scammed.... goes away after 30-45 minutes so much so that you literally have to stick your nose to where you sprayed to smell it.

Easy to like/safe blind buy, a mix of bad boy cobalt with ysl y with more of a shower gel vibe. Smells a bit like the blue radox shower gel tbh but not in a bad way, I guess. Performance is wank tho.

This is beautiful. Lacoste L12 Blanc is iconic and this is a great edition to the series. The bottle design is the only similarity to Blanc, they are two very different fragrances. Creamy lavender and sharp tangerine combine well here; you don't often see those two notes together (usually lemon is the fresh citrus note with lavender) so it has a unique smell. Don't be alarmed, this is still mass appealing and isn't too out there. It's underpinned by an ambroxan dry down which is pleasant and gives the fragrance it's longevity. I wore it to dinner in a nice restaurant and it suited the occasion perfectly; I also got a compliment. Leans masculine. I don't often buy full bottles anymore - I tend to just buy samples now - but I have a bottle of this. Excellent.

This smells great initially, the sweet, fresh tangerine shines, but then the frankincense kicks in and just totally ruins it. It's not even a skin chemistry issue, the sweat-like, weird fishy vibe is there through and through. If they left the frankincense out this would probably be a wonderful, cheap, freshie. Not sure what they were thinking, as this had promise. Alas.

Generic shower gel/shampoo/deoderant scent. Its ok, not offensive, or out there. I only sampled it, but I wouldn't say it smells like sweat, more like an axe deoderant. There are better frags in the lacoste line, and even better outside that bracket for similar price. Cool bottle tho. Scent 5.75/10

It does smell very synthetic. Young, playful, bubblegum-y. A mess of artificial notes. Even lavender is synthetic. Worst than Ferrari Pure Lavender. I had big hopes but I am very disappointed.

Smells like Prada Paradigm with tangerine. Nothing ground breaking but smells great. I wanted to buy Paradigm, now I might grab this for less.

It's ok I guess, none offensive lavender citrus combo. But the scent profile is quite tired at this point
