Encre Noire Pour Elle

This is an absolute chiaroscuro masterpiece of scent. It brings to mind the whole of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, or Rembrandt’s1667 painting “The Jewish Bride,” or Gerrit van Honthorst’s 1625 painting “The Matchmaker,” as it blooms on my skin. On my skin, it is a magnificently balanced, opulent renaissance symphony in rose. The brilliant liquid gold citrus lights of bergamot, ambrette, and freesia swirl smoothly onto a lavish heart of an incredibly beautiful rose. A touch of spicy osmanthus, kephalis, and heliotrope continue to smoothly shade this deeply rich colored composition, blending the contrasting light and shadow into a seamless masterpiece, finally descending into a mysterious, tenderly subtle darkness of cedar, vetiver, and musk. It’s fascinating to note that the top of the chiaro effect is perfectly illustrated by the elegantly fanciful gold decorative script used to label the bottle as contrasted with the base scuro effect of the simple, spare blackness of the bottle. Many have been obsessed and commenting on the blackness of the glass bottle, criticizing that the juice inside as being not dark enough. Well I say it’s dark enough. Frankly it’s an example of shadowy dark perfection in a bottle. Not too dark. Not wallowing blindly in a vulgar miasma of overdone patchouli, excessive spices, woods, or animalic substances. On my skin this translates as inky black, velvet shadows with a few slender threads of golden light swirling throughout. Ultrafeminine, deeply rosey, woody, and rich with an elegant shot of musk. No overdone sickening sweetness. No overdone masculinity in the woodiness. Just a perfectly balanced contrast between darkness and light. Beautifully balanced for me. I have to admit, my skin picks up base notes, amplifies them, and tends to overwhelm with them. The base notes that give this scent it’s “shadow” are very prominent with my chemistry. I feel lucky.... And I love this one. If your skin is like mine, and cannot stand tuberose, gardenia, jasmine, too much patchouli, or too much fruity sweetness, this may work wonderfully for you. This is a deeply subtle and luxuriously complex scent. She never screams, there is no need. She smiles gently, caresses, then speaks softly, staying close to the skin. Although it is a dangerous smile...sometimes. It brings to mind the sober, iron hand of a bejeweled, voluptuous Medici queen swathed in a crimson velvet glove. Truly, a masterpiece. Dark: This fragrance is the female counterpart of the Encre Noire masterpiece. Mystical. It takes you to places that are hidden in the farthest meanders of your imagination. Strong: Strong as a warrior, like Artemis, the goddess of hunting but in this fragrance I want to remember her as the goddess of female initiations. Different: Without any doubt this fragrance is different. Different from all those that arrive today on the market and even from those who were the great vintage. This Lalique paves the way for another kind of perfumery masterpiece. Sweet: There are queens that create terror but there are others that reign with sweetness just like the rose in this perfume but it is not over: The beautiful and delicious ambrette or musky mauve makes that sweet not heavy and very sensual, from the first night of the wedding. Wild: It certainly is not suitable for common personalities. There are perfumes that indicate delicacy and if with those we are in a flowery meadow here we are in a dark wood where the only light is dictated by the splendor of a beautiful but deadly lady. Forget the virile and powerful man of lyrics and songs. Here is the woman to give judgment. It is the woman who makes herself wish like never before. We are not on a bed of flowers, we are on a bed inside an ice castle where the man is to venerate his queen, his muse, his goddess. And at night ... I leave the conclusions to you. 10 with honors. I am not one who loves floral scents and even less rose scents. But Encre Noire pour Elle is special. It does possess a class of its own and what I like about it is that the rose note is vey discreet and natural. I hate artificial rendering of natural smells and even more so when the result is artificial. I ignore whether this scent employs absolute of roses or a chemical composition, but in my very personal and humble opinion the rose here is of a far better quality than in Joy. Is this heresy? I leave this to you. Joy used to be a grand floral, but in recent years it has suffered from the IFRA ban. If you want a grand floral, then Encre Noire pour Elle might be it. The rose in the heading slowly melts into woods and musk, like a body slowly creeping in a soft dress. It is beautiful, as sweet as a caress from your son, as delicate as a dew drop on a flower (a rose?), as assertive as a lighting in the dark. For me this is the scent of a woman, a self-assured, much confident lady, maybe not too young, maturity having come from experience and most of all from beauty of the mind. No frills, no fashion trends for her, she relies on her own style, which is exquisite albeit simple. Yes, an intellectual perfume for sure, a scent for a lady writing with a classical fountain pen, preferring this to her smartphone. Yes, that's why Encre - Ink.

Wow, this stuff is really tricky and creeps up on you unexpectedly. When I got it, i just spayed it on my hand for authenticity purposes, well after 2-3 different perfumes ( big mistake), and for the life of me I couldn't smell a thing. I gave it another spray ....still nothing. So I put it back in the box it came from and was ready to tell the seller I was returing it. The tester looked 110% authentic,so this nothingness really bothered me. What I did was I washed everything off and put it on like I usually put on a perfume: 4-5 sprays. 5-10 minutes later...wow, that was gorgeous. Yes,after all I would call it mysterious, but not in a gothic way. This scent is actually powerful and envelops you like a veil, but at the same time very airy and elusive and doesn't project like a majority of potent perfumes, because when you sniff your wrist, you can't smell anything in particular. Very beautiful dark rose, a bit soapy and powdery. Last for hours and hours without losing much of sillage. If you want to truly experience its mystery, put it on, and don't try to spray your wrist and sniff it....because all you will get is weak watery scent. It reminds me a lot of Rose Noire, but I can actually breath and enjoy Encre Noire wiout being smothered by chemicals.

Lalique really surprised me with its newest creation Encre Noir pour Elle! Iam very glad I gave it a try. This is really something I've been seaching for a long time : modern, fresh,unique and feminine scent . I don't find it masculine at all, just PERFECT fresh woody-floral .Very long lasting too. The bottle looks very mystical and I was expecting a heavy, or masculine scent, but the initial spray proved I was very wrong. My colleague even commented that it smelled very aristocratic LOL UPDATE: Im so suprised this is so underrated!!! I've added Encre Noire to my all-time favourites! I think it will stay that way for many years. I get bored very easily, and need much variety to pick up the right fragrance for each day , Encre Noir is one of those Im reaching for most often. It fits in every occasion and weather! Fantastic creation, I love it!!!

i bought for her and him because of the brand, i like choosing a brand which not many people know here, although the bottle was extremely heavy but it was not a regret, the smell was soooo addicted, fresh, ozonic, and expensive, it made me wanted to sniff more and more and it also made my outfit smell fresh, although it's been years but i still can smell the fragrance from the bottle. and my boyfriend was also love the encre noir for him, that made it his signature accord. so sad this kinda gem is discontinued, and i wear Lacoste pour femme for the substitute since for me it is the closest smell i get to lalique

I thought this was gonna be more of a noir fragrance. I mean if you only look at the bottle, yes it definitely looks like there's some dark seductive magic potion hidden in there. Well, there's magic in that bottle for sure, but it's not dark at all. It's a light musky rose (may I add one of the best rose perfumes in my opinion), fragrance that makes you feel very feminine and classy. Firstly I thought it was too light for me (I've sprayed it only 2 times on my wrist), but if you want to go for more deeper sensual affect sprayed it 5+ times all over you body. A must in my collection.

For the record, I'm a man that loves this fragrance. The tension between the top notes of freesia and bergamot to the rose and musk is incredible. Its like watching groups of clouds, some moving slowly and some quickly. and I do agree with other reviews, some days I find the scent very light, while other times appears to be a more heady musk scent. ... And the reason I prefer the woman's version is because the mens Encre is too woody and has none of the excitement. For those who have been turned off to this scent when testing, give it another try on a different day!

I was very much stroken by the similarity with Tumulte, which i have and very much love. This one is 'fresher' and a bit lighter, Tumulte has a 'depressing' edge and is much deeper. I don't find it dusty at all but then again, it may be a matter of skin chemistry. To me it is rather bright. I complitely loved it! To me at least, it is very similar to Tumulte but I will buy it sometime. Very ladylike, 'full' perfume, elegant and quite mature and sophisticated. I think it's not for a woman under 25/30 but it's a modern perfume.

I'm not a rose lover, but let me clarify that I am also not a rose hater. I have a few rose scents and I'm generally mildly positive to neutral toward rose. Much to my surprise, I really love Encre Noir Pour Elle. More than rose, I'm picking up on the kephalis. Combined with ambrette, it imparts a suede-like woody note. Beneath that, I do smell the rose, but it's more of a bruised, slightly fermented rose than a freshly cut one. I love the smooth, satiny impression this fragrance has. It feels very natural and sensual.

It is either love or hate sometimes... but this one is by all means LOVE for me. I'm glad that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.. the price is a plus for me as well! It lasts, it doesn't beat you over the head nor is it a shrinking violet. The soapiness that many refer to is actually preferable in the Texas heat, where too much musk will make one smell downright skanky.

1. A very beautiful banquet of rose and osmanthus which portraits a delicate, feminine and charming lady. Don't be fooled by the name or the color of the bottle! 2. Stayed very close to my skin and last for hours and hours. It gets along very well with my body chemistry in Hanoi fall weather. 3. The bottle design is really nice. I want it very much!!!

Thank you Lily2911 !!! As a rose lover this bare stemmed -and a llittle harsh carnation like rose was lacking my wardrobe..... I am so glad to have it ! This nonsweet rose, soft and slightly powdery formula reminds me of makeup powder and develops beautifully on my skin! But saying this is a pink and not red rose, isn't easy. Lovely take on rose!

A blindingly white, clean fragrance. This actually reminds me more of ink than the original Encre Noire. Not the luxurious kind of pen ink that the bottle suggests but of inkjet printers and dry, pristine white cartridge paper and a room that is over-airconditioned. Add some rose and musk and you've got the perfect ice queen work scent.

At first sniff (sample), I got sun tan lotion?? After a couple on minutes I was transported to dark forest--vetiver. Not a flowerbomb...very nice. It stays dusky and then the rose and a bit of musk develops--Bingo! That is my cue to order a bottle. Now at 4 hours later, a lovely velvety musk.

giuseppe98gp83 is totally right about similarities with NR for her, but , honestly, NR is a cheapie and quite brutal compared to the gorgeous Encre Noire Pour Elle! I would never substitute the latter with NR. For me Encre Noire Pour Elle is a scent of chic and pure feminity, i just adore it!

Looove it..Rose is not dominating, supressed by the musky note and turns into a silky powdery creamy rose with earthiness..Not masculine at all, very feminine on the contrary, but has a dark smoky side as well..great sillage and longevity..definitely a keeper:))

It is sadly discontinued . It is hard to believe that . BEAUTY . Yes , it is not modern , it is from another century and just not to stay here in this crazy world , to beautyful ... My single 50 ml.bottle is soon empty , let's share a tear ...

I will write more extensively later, but for now I must admit i was one of the people who were thrown off by it's subtleness while expecting something dark, mysterious and smokey.....but I am not disappointed.

The more I wear it the more I love this gothic cold beauty fragrance. Very long lasting and goes great with black clothes. The drydown is where the perfume gets sweeter and is really beautiful.

Pure addiction! I can’t stop sniffing my wrist. It’s a soapy dark rose with the wood base. I was so lucky to get a 50ml bottle before it disappeared from the market.

Encre Noir Pour Elle is a beautiful soft floral - I realy love this perfume. It is never intrusive, but still long-lasting. This is going to be one of my favorites!

Is there some similarity between this one and Narciso Rodrigues for her? Quite similar notes

I wasn't interested in this one as I hate male version and I usually like different type of fragrances(gourmands,oriental vanillas) but I think there's something changing in my preferences.after buying lady vengeance,I was craving another good rosey-musky scent.In my local perfume shop I saw a bottle of Lalique encre noir pour elle.it was only 25$ and as I believe in Lalique as a brand which produces good quality and very variable peefumes,I decided to buy it without test Boy I louve this one! I'm shocked to see lots of negative reviews If you're expecting something in the veins of male version it will dissapoint you.if the term "noir" or the black bottle makes you to think this is going to be a heavy,dark or masculine scent,it will disappoint you Actually I'm thinking that maybe it's a very chemistry dependant fragrance because I read in lots of reviews that they couldn't detect much florals.on my skin,rose shines like august sun.I don't see it as a dark or heavy rose,but it's not weak or watery either.it's a gorgeous rose.I'm not good at explaining different kinds of roses but I agree with one of reviews that it's a boozy rose.like a dark red rose dipped in red wine sweetened by honey.I find it impressive just as lady vengeance's rose.other florals are lighter than a whisper but I can smell a fruity thing in it probably coming from osmanthus As time passes musk becomes stronger so drydown is a Musky rose layed on a woody base.it's musk is the type that I like.delicate,sweet,not very animalic,clean and a tad soapy.there's just a touch of vetiver in base that acts just like vetiver in Narciso.actually this perfume has some sort of Narciso Rodriguez-ish vibe and is exactly what I imagined Narciso edt to be. in the late dry down,I mean what remains on skin after hours,isn't much rosey anymore and a is lot less sweet.I can mostly detect musk,vetiver,a I read a few quite critical reviews from dissappointed parfume bloggers before buying this gem. They all said the same; that this perfume had nothing to do with its predecessor: Encre Noir, or with its name: "Encre Noir Pour Elle, as they found it too bright to be related to black ink. Superb blogger Grain de Musc even renamed it to "Pastel Rose" in her blog. Perhaps ironically, as the ENPE gem does have some darker facets eventhough it's not a throughout dark fragrance. What I think was most enrageing, was the fact that when Christine Nagel got free hands to create "EN for her" she did not create the feminine version of the dark smoky EN everyone expected her to do. Instead she created a completely different fragrance. The whole thing seem to have turned into a matter of equality; like someone would have said: "Women can't drive motorbikes, let's make them a three wheel bicycle instead. And make it pink... but we'll call it a motorbike for women!". I can understand the rage as I'm an equality supporter with a motorbike driving licence (and I used to own an old BMW 750cc). And maybe this fragrance should have got a different name therefore, just to be fully appreciated for what it is. I bought ENPE without having borrowed orginal Encre Noir from any boyfriend or even smelt it. I was completely unbiased. And when I got my 100 ml bottle I found out that I really liked Encre Noir Pour Elle in spite of (or perhaps with help of?) the reviews I just read. Just because I didn't expect it to be dark, tarry and smoky. After a few days I started to love it and since then my hand has been reaching for that big squared bottle so many times that I actually have made it my signature, which is a big and surprising thing for me. Encre Noir Pour Elle is a woody rose fragrance with enhanced sweetness from intoxicating osmanthus and plumpness from tobacco. All resting on clean musky undertones. I'm not really a rose lover but now I'm starting to become one. I'm not really a musc lover either, but now I'm truly starting to become that as well. For my nose ENPE could have been bolder with greater projection and longevity, but I spray it on my clothes too and enjoy what I can. I also try to apply less when I use other, bolder fragrances, to make my nose even more sensitive for Encre Noir Pour Elle. If that isn't love then I don't know what love is.

I read the pyramid and it wowed me. I thought “this could be among my signature scents”. On the paper, Encre Noire pour Elle has a full floral opening; the bergamot / freesia combination is very present. The florals from the heart notes – especially the osmanthus – continue the floral energy of the opening. A new introduction to me was kaphalis. I was not familiar with this wood note which transforms (maybe combined with amber?) the floral notes into an earthy – powdery, neutrally woody, botanically soapy scent. It becomes almost sinister in a Victorian way. On my skin, however, it opens up in a completely different way. I get honey and powder and underlying neutral wood. It’s a fairy botanic dark garden but wearable an inoffensive. And then I had an epiphany! I layered it with the Encre Noire for men and Oh my God, what an explosion! One compliments the other is such a way as to produce a wonderful memorable outcome! The smoky, moist and rooty vetiver from the Encre Noire kicks in and the scent begins to smell like wet earth and burning wood, the cypress note is smooth as silk and the “masculine” musk and cashmere mellow down in an interchange with the powdery, floral notes. Longevity and projection are good too. The result from the combination of the two is just brilliant. But, if you are looking for a usual mass people pleaser perfume then do not even bother with these two (let alone with their layering)... you will be disappointed. As for me; I LOVE this thing and recommend it to anyone who would want to get out of the old adages of perfumery and smell something that is totally out of the box... Enjoy the perfume hunt!

My father, a pastor, used to write every single sermon using thunderstorm blue ink from a small square bottle. Maybe for him there was a feeling of crafting and creating when he kept dipping the pen into the inkwell. An aura of mystique always surrounded the composition of the text, which he wrote in ornate, old fashioned handwriting. The moment I saw the bottle of Encre Noire Pour Elle, all these memories came back and when I sniffed the cap, it was all ink. Ink has an austere, somewhat dry, smell to me. But when I actually sprayed my wrist with Encre Noire Pour Elle, all these associations disappeared. This was a soft and sweet rose scent: Goodbye Ink - Hello Nivea! Yes, this is the closest thing to Nivea I have ever encountered in a perfume. I love the smell of Nivea but I don't like the cream, so I immediately took this opportunity to get the good without the... less good. I reach for Encre Noire Pour Elle at some point almost every day. To me, this is a comforting scent which does not change much over time. It stays close to the skin and on me it lasts only four or five hours. The good news is that it is not terribly expensive, so I indulge in spraying myself liberally and reapplying whenever the craving for more overwhelms me. There is also an Encre Noire for men, which is very different: woody, smoky, no roses in sight - and definitely no spidery letters on the bottle. I adore this version as well, and discovered that the male and female Encre Noire complement each other in a good way, at least on me. To add some zest and mystique, try a spray of Encre Noire for men among the roses...

This wakes in me associations with the 19th century rich people sophistication and lifestyle. A beautiful, romantic lady wearing lace and silk dress with embroideries and long earrings. I opened the box, and there was a little booklet inside with a short presentation of Lalique -"a cultural heritage, eternally precious", a personal letter for the happy owner of this perfume written with this expensive ink. A feminine, expensive, heavy, high quality glass ink-pot decorated with golden, beautifully arched words (name of the perfume. Looking at the bottle I was expecting something darker, heavier, thicker and much more mysterious suitable for dark autumn and winter evenings/nights (like Narciso Rodriguez), but actually it's quite light (for me) sweet and inoffensive scent. This perfume is all about a color and scent changing, developing, opening rose. In the opening the rose is fresh,rosy, sweet, dewy. There's a hint of pepper, but very, very light. Then I can smell some sourness + powder, which makes the rose adult and light red. Then I start to get a light veil of musk and vetiver. This veil reinforces the scent of the rose ( and now it's sensually red). And the dry down - an elegant, mature (but NOT old), sensual deep red rose with tender petals. Overall a beautiful, feminine, classic and aristocratic perfume for a lady who wants something unique and rare. And yes- it has nothing to do with Encre Noire. They are 2 totally different perfumes.

The power of fragrance never ceases to amaze me--today when I tried Encre Noire I was taken back 20 years when my teen girlfriends and I would try every possible fragrance from the glass daubers from the Body Shop's sampling table. That day, my friend bought BS White Musk perfume oil, and I find that Encre Noire is very reminiscent of this scent. And a shame it is too because Lalique really missed the target marketing this beauty of a fragrance. Like many other reviewers, I was hoping for something dark and sultry; sober and sexy. That said however, this is a beautifully executed fragrance, with freesia in full bloom and velvety nuances of osmanthus and musk, and clean notes from cedar and vetiver--very 'white' in my opinion, nothing 'noire' about it. BUT, seeing as white musk fragrances aren't my thing, I have to admit that I'm disappointed. This gorgeous fragrance really needs to be rebottled in an opulent white and gold flacon, and maybe with a white fur collar around it! Too bad a lot of people who like this type of fragrance are missing out if the preconcieved idea of what's inside is being shelved for the outer appearance and name.

After reading each and every one of your posts, I'll tell you my experience ... I saw the bottle and your name on it , and I thought of something strong , dark, powerful perfume , great personality , but wrong! Quite contrary to what I imagined. Yes , roses, roses and more roses, but after trying again and again before going to sleep , then wake up at various times of the year, without realizing it, I began to understand the magic of this gem. The real beauty is in the simplicity of a scent , disguised as a simple , is just the opposite . Today we 're friends , and every time I use it I feel like a medieval princess , not glamorous at the time, but because I imagine that is as close to the luxury that can be had , considering the aromatic ingredients of those times . You understand what I mean? Well, the women went through many facets hormone in the month and every day is different , have this perfume in your collection is worth . Love to all !

This is a very "perfumey" rose. The top notes are a bit harsh and artificial. As it settles down on the skin, it starts to smell more like real, natural roses. The Turkish rose isn't "sweet and thick" on my skin, like in the description. It's more of an ethereal rose, a bit fleeting. The citruses, vetiver and cedar gives EN an overall impression of a fresh rose, no honey or sweetness at all. Luckily the musk gives it a bit of dirtiness. Not skank, but makes it earthy, i can almost smell the soil. Not much sillage, longevity is pretty good/ average. This is a somewhat generic perfume. Pretty, non- offensive and forgettable. The bottle is one of the most elegant and beautiful perfume bottles I've seen. EDIT Spray more of this than you normally spray a fragrance. It makes Encre Noir less fleeting, deeper. I usually spray one spray on each wrist, and one on the neck. After spraying 3 sprays on the same wrist, it's a different experience. I like it.

Quite an unusual scent... sensual and mistycal, watery floral (most of them roses)...and that freshness...I don't know what exactly gives so mistycal fresh impression, but that should be the mixture of freesia, vetiver and kephalis - as I read kephalis gives warm, and rich aromas of amber and tobacco. All in all a special and unusual,but very pleasant daily perfume. Looking at the strict black bottle with sharp lines someone could think Encre Noir is a heavy serious scent. But there is some contradiction between black bottle with sharp lines that gives impression of some dark evening scent and the scent itself, which has actually watery -rosy notes and works a bit more fresh than dark. And I think that's the reason of disappointment of most of you who bought Encre Noir without testing. I've bought it on the base of your reviews guys and I'm glad I did. I like it very much!! Not to ignore the sillage and longevity - both are good.

The story behind this perfume is a pure coincidence, exactly when I was thinking of buying it blind, my mother informed me that she had just bought a new brilliant dark flacon. We didn't know we were actually hunting for the same fragrance! Encre Noire is certainly a classy perfume, it's very much in the style of Narciso Rodriguez and I'm surprised to see that almost no one mentioned that. They both contain vetiver, rose, musk, osmanthus, ambrette. Encre Noire longevity is extremely better, it lasts all day like all Lalique perfumes and I'm starting to appreciate this French house more and more. It's a gentle explosion of sharp vetiver and white flowers, elegant and persistent, very sensual but still quite easy to wear even for me. The bottle is stunning and deserves a special place in a collector's wardrobe. My opinion is very positive, highly recommended.

Hmmm, delicious sweet rosy fruity amber scent, a popular fragrance in a beautiful bottle. Similar to Love in Paris by Nina Ricci or YSL Parisienne. To judge a fragrance properly, I have to compare it with something similar. In comparison with NR Love in Paris seems to be this Lalique very beautiful too but in all a boring floral fragrance without exciting. The staying power is poor on me, silage weak and there is not this special cheerful a joyful punch of something you would like to sniff again and again like by NR Love in Paris. This Lalique is more similar with YSL Parisienne. But one in all - a beautiful fragrance, you can make nothing wrong with it, that is for sure and the bottle is one of the best part on it. This bottle may look similar to Encre Noir but the juice inside is a far cry from it. I get the smell of freesia with a light rose in the beginning but it is pretty muted. After the dry down the rose becomes more prominent and, while it is still fairly faint, it does remain on my skin for hours. As a fragrance it seems pretty linear and on the boring side so the other day I layered it with my Compagnia Delle Indie Africa Desert Tobacco which is also a light scent. This actually worked out nicely and added some depth to the ENPE. My perfume mix was light enough to be worn to the office without being overwhelming or offensive. I find ENPE to be a nice perfume for layering and for me it was a great Marshalls buy at $19.

ENPE does have a tobacco and cosmetic powder quality about it which should be right up my alley. The freesia and musk mallow prohibit me from being able to completely fall in love with this. I have a hard time letting this one go because there are such wonderful qualities in the formula as well as this stunning and weighty bottle. I've given it a good try over a handful of times. All you need is a spray or two but into the swap/sell pile this goes for me. It's like a much more complex and sophisticated Lacoste pour femme. Meaning if Lacoste pour femme is a love for you plus if you're into tobacco scents, then this would be a good candidate to sample.

A forest nymph dancing in a bed of velvet roses. The vetiver keeps the roses fresh and youthful, not "old" or powdery. Cedar in the base base perfectly compliments the powerful rose note at the top. The vetiver makes this feel chillier, darker, sexier (some say gothic) frag than most Rose scents, such as Bulgari Rose Essentielle, (which is warmer, and more innocent feeling) but still ethereal. Great romantic scent for a spring evening! Sillage and holding power are phenomenal. Not an everyday scent for me, but great for days when I feel like wearing all black or something with a more romanticized, Victorian feeling to it.

I am not familiar with the male version, but my opinion on this one can only be voiced in sighs and sounds of euphoric delight, such as "MPHHHRRRAAAOO". I am seriously in love, and this new experience has completely deleted, eclipsed every other rose I have previously sniffed, real roses included. This perfume could be described as romantic, but not in a tame, Jane Austen way, it's more gothic. This is Bronte all the way, Wuthering Heights, misty lowlands and hushed passions. I need it. NOW. (On a more objective note, I think this perfume will please lovers of softly spicy, soapy roses such as "Flower" by Kenzo.)

A pretty, cool rose. I have to admit I was a bit taken aback at first because I thought I'd gotten the men's version (of which I've heard excellent things) and couldn't understand what I was smelling. That being said, after my initial disappointment I found this to be a cool, musky woody floral. At bit sweet at first then dries down to soapy, green fragrance. Pleasant, elegant, a little old fashioned; not like the retro aldehyde bombs like No. 5 but of an even older era. This could easily be a niche fragrance - excellent value for the money. Long dresses, parasols, and rose scented face powder.

Oooo! I just love it. It's to my nose that perfect, soapy, sooo clean, expensive smelling rosey, musky CLEAN! What the 'Clean' line aspires to be. I feel it wafting all around me and I only sprayed once on my wrist and rubbed together with the other wrist. That was two hours ago?! This is not dated, it is not synthetic smelling. It's just the bomb. Perfect for after-showers in the evening or early morning and anytime you just want to smell straight up GOOD! 😊 ❤️ Highly recommend, for Ladies or Gentlemen.

It's fascinating how we each perceive specific scents and notes differently, when it comes to perfumes. For me, this fragrance smells extremely clean. It carries a fresh, slightly soapy, musky, and clean rose scent. Just a few days ago, I tested Narciso Rodriguez For Her, and it immediately brought to mind Encre Noir Pour Elle. While they're not exact dupes, they share a similar musk note. This fragrance is very elegant and mysterious, reminiscent of a put-together and sophisticated woman. Beautiful.

Forse il nome più adeguato dovrebbe essere "Inchiostro rosa"...La rosa è morbida e dolce, avvolta classicamente e delicatamente da muschi. Non è un profumo da scia, la proiezione è minima. Tuttavia rimane tenacemente come skinscent per molte ore, una carezza sussurrata e gentile. Rischia la deriva saponosa quindi forse non è fra le mie rose preferite. Fragranza educata, non invadente. Indelebile se spruzzata sui capelli. Una rosa per lunghe chiome, non originale ma gradevole.

This was a blind buy for me. A bit disappointed it’s not similar to Encre Noir for men. It’s nice but I hoped it would be more unisex and a “cold” and dark type of rose. Think roses in the garden on a chilly morning, with dew still on the petals. I usually don’t layer perfumes but I tried it together with Perles De Lalique and it adds that vetiver, earthy scent mixed with rose which I was craving. It’s also great layered with patchouli

I'm not a rose lover, but much to my surprise, I really enjoy this scent.The ambrette combined with the rose and the kephalis along with the cedar notes give a unique amber-woody compound. It's smooth, powdery and rather sensual. The longevity is impressive and the bottle has a very nice design.

Some find it perfectly fresh and clean, some find it rich, warm and seductive. My impression: "Encre Noire Pour elle" is something in between. It ́s rosy fabric softener, but not the green floral or fresh spicy kind. More like a dark and sweet rosy fabric softener.

If you already own Jesus del Pozo Black you'll find Encre Noire Pour Elle simply redundant. Both feature delicious dark cherries and a seductive dusty rose but at 1/2 the price, JdPB is the better buy especially since it lasts twice as long on (my) skin.

This one is very different from the original Encre Noire for men, but it retains the inky aspect giving it a new nuance. EN Pour Elle is very powdery, almost lipsticky and has a classy retro vibe. I picture a confident, chic woman wearing this.
