Le Baiser

~Scent-sational in parfum concentration~ While the Lalique #'d cristal flacon is a highly detailed & desirable work of art in it's own right the fragrance contained within reminds me of a rare and long discontinued vintage perfume called 'En Attendant' by Bruyere PARIS from the 1950's and similarly to the more modern 'First' parfum by Van Cleef & Arpels, the juice is composed with high quality components including rose, jasmine, violette & blackcurrant bud absolutes drying down to a predominately woody base of santal, white musc and cedar, not overly complex or musky although classy & for me the epitome of French haute parfumerie; totally "drop dead" gorgeous, the inclusion of gardenia adds that vintage 1920's feel, so very "au courant" and floraly lush...a shame as I can not detect any civet or castoreum, for me sillage & longevity may have been improved with the use of more animalics in the base, just a thought? The rose absolute used here is utterly divine, Grasse,Bulgarian centifolia? This *Lalique* cristal presentation is most generous containing 100 mls. of extrait, the stunningly decorated flacon was designed by Marie Claude Lalique in the late 1990's, the workmanship employed by the French glass artisans is astonishing, my bottle appears to have a slight opalescence to the clear crystal when placed near bright light and is encased by gilt metal thorny briar stems for added effect & protection, both flacon & stopper are hand finished with etched matching numbers!!! A definite must see to be appreciated... "Oh La La".... Tres chic et luxe!!!!!

When i first bought it (i was smitten by the bottle), i didn't really like it. It was a heady floral, with deep powdery notes, very 80s in my opinion, but way too loud. It was June... Now it's the end of December. In the cold, wet, dark winter evening, this smells totally different - the first thing that hits my nose is the sandalwood and cedar, both of which i love, and then the sweet black currant - very distinct! There's something flowery lingering in the back, but doesn't dominate the scent. Today i'll say this is a beautiful fragrance! It will show its true colours in cold (even freezing), wet climates - such as in most central European countries - and not in hot, dry ones...

I have warn Lalique since my early 20's. 50% of those I've worn are great. The other not. Le Baiser is most certainly one of my signature fragrances but sadly hard to source in SA. I love the rose. Since I am no fragrance fundi, I wore it in any season and I found it to work well on warm and cold days on my skin. The original Lalique ladies' fragrance is another big fave for summer. It's a light, timeless floral. Le Baiser has however always been the one to guarantee compliments from men or ladies in a packed lift enquiring after my fragrance. It's very romantic and not overwhelming, provided you use it sparingly. Amongst my top 10 fragrances.

I love this perfume - it should be much better known. A friend's mother found me a bottle with about 15ml in it, in a charity shop, and I've since bought another 50ml. For me it is tons of violet and rose, both very rich, both very true. It's simply a beautiful fragrance - warm, happy, feminine, gorgeously balanced. I generally hate fruity notes but the blackcurrant in this is fresh and the drydown is powdery and clean without being childish. Unlike most reviewers on here, I dislike the bottle ( and every single time I pick it up, I pull the actuator off, drat - why can't I remember this?).

Pure sophistication in a bottle. One of my most favourite juices & im gutted to discover that it is now discontinued...just as well i stocked up when i could. It opens out floral & slightly sweet but thankfully not bubble gum sickly sweet. The pepper & amber warms up the floral notes & the musk gives it some depth. It isnt as long lasting as id like but i dont mind topping up because the initial spray is such a joy to smell. Each stage of this perfume is beautiful & i feel like a million dollars wearing it. This is a fragrance that says you have style & class.

This is the latest bottle I got. I loved the bottle and I like Lalique from Lalique, so I thought ''Why not buy this one?'' Well, I must say it was a good buy and I'm starting to love it more and more. First of all, the fragrance lasted from morning till evening (and I was only wearing the EDT). That's good value for money. But it isn't overpowering. I think it is the same close ''family'' as Lalique from Lalique and Boudoir from Westwood is somehow also related. But somehow gentler. If I could only afford the expensive christal bottles...

What a truly beautiful fragrance. I am currently unable to source it in South Africa. :( If any of you have a bottle you don't care for, I'd happily post a favourite in return. EDIT. Found a dusty packed 50ml EDT at a perfume store. Pleased as punch. I always wore the EDP. Now this EDT has the same lovely intense rose smell but the sillage is not impressive. It stays rather close to the skin. Will be sure to spritz on my hair and in the nape of my neck when I next wear it.

This is one the most beautiful and amazing perfumes. Lush floral composition. Rose, jasmine and gardenia, with soft musk. Almost as clean baby shampoo scent. Delicate creamy gardenia for drydown. Lasts awhile. Pleasant and feel good scent. I see some comparison to Tresor and even J.Lo Glow. When I thought it reminded me of soft florals and clean shower baby soap years back, but then I think this is the predecessor to both. Pure perfection. Classic Perfume. Love for Life :)

Rich cherry cordial smell... I love it for cold, cloudy days inside with myself. The first time, I tried it in warm weather and found it disappointing for some reason. Thankfully, my habit of blind buying makes me persist past quick judgements. Now that I've used this little beauty, I'm quite addicted to its charming warmth and crave its comforts in the quiet evenings. I recommend trying it several times, fine quality creations sometimes need to be processed!

I have the mini of this (the bottle is gorgeous). It arrived today and I've put some on and I can't stop sniffing myself! It was driving me nuts how familiar this smells, then I read the reviews here and someone mentioned Tresor. Yes! This is a lot like Tresor which I love. I won't be getting a full bottle just because I have Tresor already (but that's the only reason).

I am reviewing the above shown bottle not the kissing couple one. Someone said this smells like Tresor and I do agree to some degree. To me this is better. The luxurious floral notes are well blended and the pepper adds an extra zing to the symphonic composition. Tresor is bitter and bland to my nose. This is a very classy perfume.

This is one of my absolutely favorite perfumes, I had a 50ml bottle, and I spent every drop, spelling myself, and got a lot of compliments :)) So, of cause, I want a new bottle

A very floral, warm and original fragrance but it disappears much to quick when you wear it.

One of the most beautiful perfumes out there, lovely, feminine, classy, a pure gem.

LE BAISER is a tender and elegant floral bouquet. The violets are simply gorgeous in this perfume. The composition is so classy and graceful. Nothing about this perfume is over the top or out of place or vulgar. It is pure elegance and good taste. This perfume makes me think of a real lady. She is delicate and beautiful. I see her at a family party, gently smiling and playing beautiful music by Chopin on the piano. She is admired, loved and respected by everyone around her. The perfume opens with the green and crisp floral bouquet but almost immediately it transforms into a gentle violet scent accented with just a touch of gardenia. The violets are beautifully weaved with other notes but remain the main lead in the composition. I catch whiffs of green jasmine and sweet rose in the heart notes but the violets are still prominent. The floral bouquet lasts for quite some time, a couple of hours at least. The dry down is beautiful amber woods. The woody dry downs do not always fit my skin well but this one is simply gorgeous. This is a truly beautiful floral bouquet! I definitely recommend it if you like violets and green elegant floral scents. I find that the sillage and longevity are great. Lalique LE BAISER edt is a surprisingly intense little floral perfume! The florals--primarily rose, violet, and jasmine, to my nose--seem quite concentrated and somewhat sweet. There is also a slight fruitiness, as though the petals were scented with black currant. I am curious whether my edt is stronger because it has condensed somewhat, although the volume of my 50ml bottle does not give any indication of that sort of thing. Hmmm... maybe this is just one of the more potent Lalique offerings. In my experience, Lalique perfumes are sometimes quite strong. PERLES and FLORA BELLA can easily overwhelm if overapplied, and the same is probably true for LE BAISER, which holds real floral headache potential. Lightly applied, however, this really smells rich and perfumey. There is a something of a vintage quality to this creation, and I also perceive a waxiness which reminds me a bit of Caron PARFUM SACRE. I am happy to have acquired this very floral perfume in a quaintly exquisite bottle!

This is a beautiful floral in the most gorgeous bottle. Better suited for cooler weather, in my opinion, due to the pepperish, ambery, and musky undertones. On my skin, this is a blast of violets and roses. For those of you who are looking for a pure violet perfume might be disappointed, as on my skin other flowers such as gardenia & jasmine are present and rose is equally as strong as the violet. I bought this while I was in search of a great violet perfume, lead by the reviews below that it is a violet perfume. I respectfully disagree. This is a well-balanced floral that has a pronounced violet note. But it is in no way a soliflore. Don’t get me wrong, I still love this fragrance. It is elegant and wonderfully refined. It also has great sillage, projection, and staying power. However, for those for you who are looking for a real “violet” perfume (soliflore) are better off looking elsewhere.

I found a 30 ml boxed bottle of EDP on eBay for $1 without any pre-purchase research, and hey, it's very wearable, if you are a white floral fan. The drydown, something this house excels at- as evidenced by the wonderful drydown in Eau de Lalique,is the best part. The astringent violet mellows and blends with the pepper, musk and cedar on my skin. I'm not getting the fruit and am barely getting the rose which seems to dominate in the other reviews. Some of the topnotes may have dissapated in my bottle. Thumbs up, especially for violet lovers. For me because I already have Apres L'ondee as a violet, more powdery than Le Baiser,which I did not find powdery at all, it's a definate like, not love. Just my preference. Wishing I hadn't given away my sample of TF Violet Blond because I'd like to compare that to it as well.

Vintage bottle review: Oh my gosh it just hit me, this smells like Lancome Tresor and that's a good thing. I've got a vintage bottle of Le Baiser. I was reluctant to do a blind buy but it's been on my want list forever so I grabbed a bottle. I am so very glad I did. I was afraid that it might be dated smelling but to my surprise it is not. I also was concerned it would wreak of rose and although that note is in here it's a very nice soft rose. The bottle is gorgeous on it's own and very Lalique with ornate features. The fragrance is very soft and lady like and yes there is some rose peaking out but its well balanced with a beautiful spice. I think this fragrance can be worn any time, any season it's so delightful. I would suggest trying it.

First of all, the bottle is absolutely stunning, but what I have come to expect from Lalique fragrances. What I didn't expect was the airy, clean, soapy smell this settled down to...and was gone in an hour. Could it be my skin? It's possible. It's pretty, office friendly, a safe buy as a gift, but there is nothing wonderful or outstanding here. It's a pity, but I think that, although I bought it blind, I probably would still have purchased it for the bottle alone. A sweet, feminine addition to my collection with an ever so beautiful vintage twist.

Sweet syrupy yet powdery rose and violets, the gardenia and amber in the background give it a sweet tone, not fresh sweet, but cake, buttery sweet. What I dislike in this fragrance is the sandalwood, that instead of giving an earthy smoky texture of the scent, gives it a warm urine undertone (?) Reminds me of Tresor, but much tamed, I prefer this one still. A romantic and melancholic fragrance definitely worth buying if you are into oriental florals.

Transparent, though intensely floral, sweet and dreamy. It’s oldfashioned in the most enchanting way and the bottle with the kissing couple is stunning. The juice itself is rosy, but the most prominent notes are sweet violets and waxy jasmine. It’s a pretty scent for old lovers still young at heart. Very, very beautiful. Like a scented hankerchief from a far more romantic past.

I was able to get a sample of this perfume and have worn it a few times now. I find it starts out very floral at first but then settles into a wonderful sultry scent that is quite lovely & romantic.I found it long lasting and not overwhelming. I would wear it for evening & definatly for special times. I will add this one to my collection.

There is well represented black currant in the beginning of this parfume, still white flowers, some violet and roses dominate here. Later, the soft sweet notes of ambery-vanilla scent stand up to make even more comforting warm floral overall smell. Le Baiser is quite strong rather than innocent, but still very romantic parfume.

I am not sure WHAT exactly doesn't mesh with my chemistry with this fragrance. It's OK.....but "something" is plastic or synthetic to my nose....maybe oily??? I cannot put a pin on it, but it is good, but just "off" a bit for me :o(

Received a beautiful gift set sometime ago, still have the bottle which is one of my favourites, so pretty. I am recalling from memory the fragrance, soft feminine I do remember the rose being distinctive, divine.

Sickly sweet. I don't like it - never going to like it. It reminds me of something from the 1950s that came from the dime store, that I smelled on an old woman on the bus once, and in a funeral parlour another time. Glad I only have a mini of this. Keep trying to give it away. No one wants it !!!

This is really nothing special in my opinion. Very fruity and a little sour because of the blackcurrant. I don't even like it actually. I was expecting much more from the beautiful bottle. It is like a more sour version of Tresor.

I found it so bitter, I have tried to wear, but I couldn't. The bitter note didn't disappear, I didn't like this at all.

Le Baiser I remember well, buying it in 1999 and henceforth, the perfume. (I even saw, just now, in the Fragram Section, the Perfume Vaporisateur which I must still have somewhere.) (not in the habit of keeping the empty bottles, I have been known to unceremoniously open the Pedal-Bin and let the empty flacon fall from high, with a clung'.) (the more expensive the higher.) here it must have been the Rose & Gardenia which always fly off with great speed in my nostrils. I also remember where I bought this (available at sparingly dispersed sales points) Edp & perfume. they also contradefined the 1990s (for me) as the decade of Fresh, Watery, Airy, Ocean, Sportif (as ever there was any anathema to my perfume taste it is this denominator), Calone and Hedione perfumes. well it WAS the decade of that. yet Chanel Allure (1999), Donna Karan by Donna Karan (1992), Boudoir (1998), Mahora (2000), Gale Hayman Beverly Hills (1990), Amarige (1991), Volupté (1992) etcetera counterintuitively made the 1990s a more varied Platform. yet this perfume was at once of Stalled Drama and wonderful Elegance. of course solely by these Hyper Flowers already it lended a Chic Headiness and Opulence. it was concipiated with a purely French Esthetics. Lalique of course needs no Introduction. and while they sold, in that particular perfumery in Delft, Holland, also Lipsticks from Kanebo (which were from $ 70 to now, $ 50, a Steal ! I also scoured the rest of the Assortment for other fineries. I esteemed this perfume as super refined and at the same time, as a High-End Call Girl would wear her, just in the right niche of tacky and risquée. Jasmine, Cassis (always a hit with Rose), Violet, Pepper, and while there was Amber it hinted at Chypre as well. it embodied a Musky and refinedly Woody signature as well. this whole perfume Experience I can vividly remember as having added Luck and Bliss to the times as they were rolling.

O how adorable! The violets made me curious, so I had to investigate. This is a lovely, classy, soft violet/gardenia fragrance, with just a hint of a green note (and the green note is very fleeting, up top). I was relieved that it suits me, because this was a blind buy, and the black currant ingredient initially worried me as that note tends to roar to life on my skin (not necessarily a bad thing, but I was afraid it would drown out the violet). I smell no black currant. It is a beautiful, soft, lingering, sweet little violet with a touch of gardenia. This is the edt version. Also, I must say that the bottle is so charming! This will be more office friendly than Insolence edp (and I looooove Insolence edp but am afraid to wear it in the office), for me at least. This is my first Lalique fragrance. What a gem! I want to thank everyone for the helpful reviews!

I can't help but think of this one as a modern interpretation of Chamade. The modern being that it is much lighter, less floral and has that pepper note that you find in many scents today. I like the rose and currant notes and the overall effect is warm and ambery. This is a pretty,young springy scent but you need frequent reapplications. It lasts about 2 hours, max. The bottle is classic lalique and a bit too grand for the juice. It looks great on my dresser.

My great-grandma gave me a little bottle of this perfume when I was younger and I have kept and cherished ever since to remind me of her. Firstly, the mini glass bottle design is very charming, with the lovers kissing on the front. It's a very comforting, romantic, vintage yet classy scent that feels like you're walking dreamily through an old-fashioned flower garden. Definitely one of my favourites.

I love this! I bought a miniature of this at the flea market and marveled at the beauty of the bottle...and then smelled it and I knew I had to buy a full size bottle! So I bought 2 of them, and the soap as well. A favorite of mine, a definite go-to fragrance for me (and that says something, because most of my perfumes are solo violet). Wonderfully feminine and beautiful.

Beautiful violet perfume.....leaves Ultraviolet by Paco Rabanne in the dust. Great sillage and staying power.The bottle is to die for...a true masterpiece. For a long time i was reluctant to buy Lalique fragrances....now I realize how much i missed out on. Le Baiser is my second Lalique perfume ( I also have Lalique Lalique) and the quality is pretty amazing.

Hello .. i am looking for a perfume for my mother, wondering if this is a good gift. She prefers clean scents.. but went for more spicy stuff in the 80s (Gio, Obsession) so i thought Gardenia could be a little middle ground. If someone who has smelled this could pm me with some advice id appreciate it!

very sweet,warm and delicious that you may even like to taste it!it's not like other floral fragrances,there are some fruity scents too,or at least I feel like this.the bottle is chic too.I can't categorize it as a classic perfume,but I can say that a woman who wears it will feel like a complete woman.

It starts with such a blast of Bulgarian rose that I could hardly detect the black currant note. The initial notes quickly dry down to a warm, powdery base which I find somehow sweet and comforting but not enough to tempt me into buying a huge bottle of it.

I am so in love with this. A charming sweet floral that makes me start daydreaming at first sniff. The exquisite bottle just adds to the loveliness. I hope Lalique will bring it back to us.

i love this perfume as well as Ralph Lauren Romance. I would like to find a new cologne but I do not like what is out there. Any suggestions?

Lovely powdery violet and subtle gardenia, some peppery accords and light amber make this an outstanding romantic fragrance.
