Nilang

Nilang is a unique aquatic floral oriental scent with a sensual and gourmand edge. After a sweet, floral - aquatic start it develops a fresh, slightly bittery floral heart with a sweet, praline edge. I cannot distinguish any particular notes apart from a zesty and bittersweet cranberry - roasted nut accord. Nilang is then rounded up by a balanced, gourmand, sexy and sweet base which is not typically oriental but a warm, homely blend with a rich, sexy kick to it. I dare say Nilang has been one of my most interesting discoveries as I have not yet found a fragrance that is even remotely similar to it. An eau de toilette with a strength and staying power of an eau de parfum, amongst connaisseurs it is still very popular and there are times when it's practically unavailable online. Nilang is extremely innovative in terms of blending together different olfactory groups and managing to make it unique, beautiful and irresistable. Either to add to your collection or to wear it, Nilang is a rare gem, that should never be forgotten.

I dug up old version Nilang in these Christmas days. It brings back strange memories: the taste of blueberries of a cough syrup which the pediatrician -an old, perfectly shaved and perfumed gentleman- used to prescribe to me. It was extremely sweet and alcoholic, and I adored it, to the point that as a child I wished I had a fever to be allowed to drink it. The opening of Nilang is quite similar to this comfort balm. Then comes an incredible tenderness: as a walk through the "Asian plants" in the botanical garden. Water flowing in the background, water lilies full of nectar that hatch at dawn with the first rays of the sun. The pink magnolia gives the fragrance a sensual and earthly aroma: that of sweat on the first cleavage tan.I'd like to kiss anyone who would bring this fragrance on bare skin, in a spring morning. But winter is long, and spring is late to arrive.

Nilang is quite unique as noted, but not altogether comfortable for wearing because it's odd. On a whim I decided to wear it on an uncomfortably hot day. I found that in the hottest weather the perfume comes into it's own. It really suits heat, real heat. So now I can upgrade to love, because it's a pleasure to apply on those days when the cold water runs hot and shorts and tanks are all I can bear to wear out. The bottle is stunning and worth owning just to admire on your dresser.

Nilang is a fruity amber-floral typical of the 90s (in a good way!) Hints of aquatic from the lotus, but mostly getting blueberry and vanilla/amber. Le Roy Soleil is a good comparison. Also reminds me of Candie's.

My favorite Lalique !!! It is very similar to Miracle Forever! Love that one too!
