Love it! I can't distinguish the pepper although I really like peppery notes - for example, it's quite prominent in Terre d'Hermes or in my all-time favourite Sensous by EL. Maybe the pepper is just so well-blended into the whole composition that my nose cannot separate it from the rest of the notes. Even though I can tell for sure it's not just a sweet gourmand smell, there's a little masculinity to it, balancing it out just right, although it's definitely sweet and warm and powdery overall. It instantly reminded me of something familiar, but I couldn't really remember and I kept sniffing it waiting until the scent brings me back down the memory lane.. and there it was! My university years in then-peaceful Kharkiv, with my then flatmate who used Zara Femme all the time, generously spraying her gorgeous long hair with it each time after she washed it. Later on we went on a summer abroad together, and it was an absolutely wonderful adventure, and after graduation I moved to the capital, getting a more normal "adult" life and more responsibilities and so on.. and once in a Zara department store I saw it and smelled it and couldn't resist buying it because it evoked so many memories. I used it as a safe fragrance worn at home or whenever I would feel tired of all the more fancy and complex ones, this was my go-to option. Satine though is just a little bit different at the start, more vintage-y, however, it develops into 97% the same fragrance. It gives me much joy reminding me of the better carefree days, and the flanker is really nice (no wonder, you know what Lalique are mostly famous for). I got 100 ml without testing, and it's one of the many successful blind purchases I had - I knew I'd like it based on the notes and also on my experience with other Lalique perfumes but I didn't know I'd be so happy. Great quality considering the price, the longevity is good, too P.S. I know comparing Lalique to Zara doesn't sound like a definition of a quality fragrance but in this case it is. Perfumes are about emotions they evoke UPD: it also slightly reminds me of CD Hypnotic Poison EDP

This is a very pleasant and light perfume that ranges between several other fragrances you might know. The opening and first few minutes have a similarity to Aromatics in Black and Mon Guerlain. Satine is somewhere in between these two, with less emphasis on the spiciness and a more demure tonka bean than you get with Aromatics in Black. The vanilla in Satine is a little stronger in comparison. The sweetness and brighter character are more reminiscent of Mon Guerlain, although it lacks the lavender (which some might like). I was a little "afraid" of the pepper notes, because I don't always like them, if they're too strong, but in this case it's a very soft note and fits well into the composition. The base notes are also very soft. Nothing sticks out in an unpleasant way. Satine dries down into a sweet, almost almondy skin scent, which maybe reminds some people of La Vie est Belle. The longevity isn't the longest and sillage is moderate at best, but sometimes you might want this kind of intimate scent and you can buy it at a great price, especially compared to some of the other fragrances frequently mentioned as being similar to Satine. I would actually recommend this to a perfume beginner, because it's affordable, easy to wear, but still feels like good quality. I love it! Last but not least, it's a beautiful bottle. I liked it on the picture, but actually holding it in my hands made me realize just how nice it is, with cut glass rays and the light pink liquid. Satine is yet another fragrance by Lalique that just does everything right for me at a great price, which makes it one of my few favorite houses.

I picked this up blind for $20 at Marshall's, and I've got to say it's about the most successful blind purchase I've ever made. Satine is far and away worth full retail, let alone what I paid for it! It lasts many hours on the skin, projecting within arm's length initially, but settling into a softer 'skin' scent in later hours. I can see where comparisons between Satine and Flowerbomb might arise - both fragrances are quite floral, but so well-blended that the resulting scent is sweet and creamy. However, the similarities stop there. Whereas Flowerbomb envelops the wearer in a deep sweetness, Satine explores the powdery nuances of creamy florals, and is slightly spicy. Vanilla is present, but understated. It is definitely not as sweet as others with similar openings, including Flowerbomb and LVEB. Later stages of the dry-down present a softly spicy, somewhat deeper wood composition, balanced with just the slightest hint of sweet florals. Satine is suitable for day wear, but I experience it more as moonlight and satin sheets, dusting body powder, garters, white flowers, and a cool breeze. In my opinion, Satine is what Midnight in Paris would have smelled like if there had been a female version (MIP is pretty unisex anyway, but it has an edge to it that Satine does not). Love, love, love!

This is probably one of the most underrated scents that you will ever purchase and the price tag is not indicative of the quality and loveliness of the perfume. Like most people, I had never heard of Satine before it was gifted to me by a longstanding friend on Fragrantica. First spritz, sweet, woody, delicate, warm, comforting and feminine, Settling down to a warm, creamy, soft vanilla with a touch of powder. The woodsy sweetness is still there. Base notes are a faint powdery vanilla with the sweetness still intact. This is simply lovely on a warm sunny day in spring, but equally will work well when the weather turns a little cooler in the autumn. It leans strongly to the feminine, but can be worn with style by a man as well. (Hubby wears Paul Smith Rose and it's amazing on him). The silage is very good because I always get asked what I am wearing, longevity is average on my thin and dry skin, which doesn't hold onto perfume very well whatever it is. On me I get about 4 hours, but I suspect it will last longer on a less dry and more 'normal' skin. Fabulousness is 15/10 for me!

For something light, inoffensive, sits on my skin type of fragrance this does the trick. I bought it because I love the heliotrope although it's not a big player. Gardenia is stronger here but it's also not that strong. Every note here is soft, soft flowers, soft sandalwood, soft vanilla which is why they have appropriately named it Satin, it wears like a satin lingerie you've wearing to bed. And I do wear this bed, or for the day time when I don't want my perfume to come off as too strong. I have those days too. An any time morning noon or night fragrance winter spring summer or fall. It's powdery, and very sweet. I bought this for my sister as a Christmas gift. She loves vanilla and soft perfumes. If you're a fan of fragrances like Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely or Vivienne Westwood Boudoir this is totally for you. It's beautiful but I see this as a seductive lingerie boudoir scent. It comes off as very very sexy. Wears like one of the Victoria Secret Angel fragrances. I spritz it on for bed and anything that happens there. ...including sleep LOL

I purchased this recently. I feel it is best worn in summer nights and autumn/winter mornings. I love the scent, I can't feel the vanilla at all, but more like a sandalwood peppery scent. I feel it has a similar philosophy like estee Lauder sensuous, as in woody ambery, not sweet but not bitter or floral. It can be worn by young women and older as well. The negatives though is that I can't say it lasts a lot on my skin or clothes, I can only smell it up to two hours. I want to test it when the temperatures fall down, whether it will last or not. The scent however is lovely, can be worn eastily on workplace, and even though I can't smell it quite a lot after a while, perhaps I will spray even more since it has a huge value for money. Most probably I will repurchase it. Edit (almost two years after): I have tried this on all occasions, sprayed way too much on me and had a faint smell that perhaps could be detected up to 3 hours tops. Doesn't last on clothes either. While I really like the way it smells, I won't repurchase it.

Satine is indeed satin on the skin! It is gorgeously soft, powdery and feminine. As with all Lalique fragrances it is well blended. Powdery heliotrope, tonka bean and vanilla stand out the most with the occassional spicy waft of pink pepper. Though the juice is sweet it isn't a sugary, edible vanillic fragrance. Instead, it is a delicate caress, rather like a soft, cashmere sweater on a cold winter's night. I can see myself wearing this in the winter or on summer nights after sunset with a cool breeze to keep its powderiness from being suffocating. The sillage is enormous! One or two sprays is all I need to be noticed; anymore than that becomes a powder bomb. I spray it on in the morning to find myself pleasantly surrounded by a soft cloud of femininity that lasts all day and well into the evening. I've worn this beauty on three separate occassions since sweet Fragrantican, Birsen gifted me a bottle in a swap. Every time I've worn Satine I've received glowing compliments. It doesn't get any better that!

Incredibly pretty. To me this smells almondy, milky (with a hint of a rice note to it?), vanillic and of course very powdery, but its powderiness is rather cold, almost cooling (like the satine fabric on skin :)). I also get a little bit of woody bitterness and spiciness. It's kind of similar to Simply Poudrée by Jil Sander but it is different at the same time. This is the definition of a soothing perfume, yet it has a sexy, seducing twist to it. :) And the bottle is lovely, one of the most beautiful perfume bottles I own, actually. I love the black detail in the combination with pink...The bottle reminds me of a very old perfume bottle my late grandmother used to own. Now I am sure I will not find out which perfume she used (the bottle is long gone and my family is not interested in perfumes, also I can't find it online no matter how I try) but the Satine bottle is still going to remind me of her. :)

Love Lalique. It was a gift from a gentleman who admires my work. It came in a jewelry case and contained a necklace. The glass bottle is gorgeous! And its a pink liquid. I love to collect pink perfumes. This is a soft, sweet vanilla with floral scent. Jasmine, gardenia and heliotrope. Romantic and girly. It has a short life and its a pretty simple fragrance but it's heavenly. I'm not sure yet if I'll wear this on my wedding day. I have had it for about 2 months now but haven't been using it much. Some of the other reviewers are saying it's similar to Jessica Parker's Lovely or that it's a seductive boudoir scent for lingerie but I don't see it this way. Although it is sexy, it's not a throw me on the bed wild and sexual kind of scent. It's a tame and feminine kind of sexy, a woman who has beautifully decorated dresser tables with perfumes a woman who loves flowers and has a sweet disposition. Classy.

Another lucky blind buy weeeeeeee! At first spray I wasn't sure this was what I wanted, just seemed overly sweet. Ahhhh but then it aired out a bit and when I went back for a sniff, I found a spicy, fluffy pink cloud of YUM. Very soft but has the perfect amount of spice and sweetness~ don't feel like I'm getting knocked out by the patchouli, or any note for that matter. The notes all seems to compliment each other and create something quite harmonic. Little fizzy bites of pink pepper sit longer on the skin than I expected, vanilla/tonka/sandalwood combo does a very nice job of not overpowering one another. Slightly smoky, balmy, with a smooth sweetness that just hovers on my skin like a silk scarf or perhaps something satin ;p A rich scent but not heavy, this has definite character but doesn't reach too far out there and try to be something it's not. Very well done, Lalique!

The reviews for Satine are the funniest, they go in all directions and make comparisons to so many scents. After reading I now only smell Mon Guerlain in the opening (that sort of very perfumy and a slightly sharp opening that Guerlain's often have), but my initial respons was that it is very peppery and that Satine smells like a grown up and less sweet Poudrée Intense by Jil Sander. Nothing like Kenzo Amour imo. I will need time with this, it is not a linear scent. Definitely not as sweet and vanilla heavy as I thought would be! It is quite mature and I get the polarizing reviews as you might get something you don't expect. Very shy indeed, but sometimes I find that a pleasant surprise. Will update and can't wait to try layering as suggested by some lovelies here!

delicate and feminine scent. This smells like youth to me, and I have fond memories of it, still wear it even after 6 years (i think i was 15 when I got it). However the scent changes the more it sits like most vanilla perfumes, and for the better. It has a light flowery scent and a smooth fresh sweetness to it. In my skin it used to and still sits very well; sweet and light with a touch of woodiness that doesnt bother me at all even though im rarely a fan of woody notes. The pink pepper is weak but gives it a bit of warmth. I dont know how to explain it but the sillage and longevity are so much more different after I let my bottle sit unused for a few months, it’s more potent in a great way. Love this perfume.

This is one of my favorites......opening with a little pepper and then creamy, powdery heliotrope, tonka, and vanilla, with some earthiness in the bottom. Satine is feminine, rich, and warm on my skin. It never veers into soapiness for me, which is good. Sillage and longevity are both moderate and I'd wear it any time of year, during the day or at night for bedtime. I find it alluring, soft but not weak. Similar to La Mia Perla but stronger than the skin scent that La Mia Perla is for me. This projects a little more yet it is still subtle. Comfy and sweet. One of the better heliotrope/vanilla fragrances I've smelled - just beautiful. I also love the art deco style bottle and how it fits in my hand.

Satine amazed me with its unique airy character. The vanilla is fluffy as many have said, the tonka and heliotrope gave it a warm, nutty, and powdery shades. I’m glad that it’s not a gourmand forward, the pink pepper and white floral successfully balance the sweet aspect, making it not as boring as lots vanilla-tonka perfumes. Performance is lil above average on my skin (in tropical temp), it’s noticeable and sound without being heavy. The bottle, I really want to like it since it looks beautiful in the pictures (also when I photographed it!), but it’s a lil different if you see it directly, mine is a frosted glass bottle that somehow looks dirty-fuzzy instead of fluffy and artsy.

First spray I get a big dose of sweet, very gourmand. I smell the heliotrope and pink pepper gives this fragrance an interesting twist. Personally I think the jasmin and gardenia blend well together so that I do not discern either but a lovely background fragrance. Beautifully the tonka bean grounds it perfectly. Others have used the word ethereal to describe this fragrance and I totally agree. This is not a loud in your face fragrance, but a very classy, up-scale close to the skin fragrance that is both comforting and up-lifting at the same time. Absolutely gorgeous! Yet another winning fragrance for Lalique and Nathalie Lorson!

It’s been a while since I fell in love at first sniff, but here we are. This is a soft and feathery powdered vanilla, which verges on edible but not quite. It has a dual innocence/seduction energy to it - it’s a lady on the streets but a freak in the sheets (or whatever they say). It is cosy, comforting, beautiful, inviting, confident, and warm. Others have mentioned the disappointing performance but I find it ok - not the best but not the worst. My solution is: overspray. Satine is a lovely, warm tonka/vanilla/heliotrope perfume, to my nose, perfectly balanced between sweet and grassy/bitter (It sounds weird but I love a bitter note!). It's so versatile and non-offensive that if I don't know what to wear, I can always reach for Satine and know that I will smell good! It's similar to Victorinox First Snow, but minus the eucalyptus note, and also a bit similar to Burberry Brit -- both are tonka fragrances -- but without the citrus/lime brightness or almond. It's a really lovely scent. <3

Today is grey and rainy. After a long summer in the back of my closet I craved Satine. It's a beautiful soft, creamy, powdery scent. The tonka plays the main role. It is semi-sweet and powdery - sligtly spicy, sligtly smoky. Perfect for autumn and winter. It's sensual and alluring, but comforting at the same time. Great longevity, medium sillage. Gentle enough to wear in the office. The quality feels very high for the price. If you like powdery-woody scents I think it is a safe blind buy.

The combo of Lalique perfumery and Nathalie Lorson will never disappoint me. Precious juice, surprisingly delicate, but with its own special character. Non-gourmet vanilla, soft tonka bean, creamy sandalwood and pepper, so that all this does not fall into sticky sweet dessert. Patchouli seems to be present, but imperceptible. All together - this is a silky, slightly powdery, pleasant scent. Not loud or heavy. Wraps around you as a thin satin blouse.

I love this perfume. It is warm and comforting. It amazes me it has sandelwood and it isn’t too strong. Usually that note pulls sharp on me. It is not a heavy scent, I usually spray 5-7 times. It doesn’t become cloying like many scents. I only wear when cold out so not sure how it would smell in warm weather. I bet nice on a hot night after swimming and cool evening with AC. I am so glad I took a chance on this and blind bought it. A favorite.

I. Love. This. I'm taken on such a wild ride with this fragrance. I smell the notes bottom to top based on the note pyramid here on fragrantica. Initial spray is woody and fresh. I get a lot of the sandalwood and vetiver for about 20 minutes, then the sweet vanilla and tonka set in. About 7-8 hours in I was smelling all of the florals...heliotrope really stood out to my nose. This is also a beast on my skin. I got 10+ hours out of it.

Underrated gem; smooth and creamy vanilla and tonka with a sweet sandalwood balanced by a lightly spicy pink pepper and vetiver. Heliotrope lends a soft prettiness. Powdery with a special depth that doesn't leave you wanting more. Persistent too, I get at least 8 hrs when sprayed on clothes. Shares some similarity with Mon Guerlain EDT, but considerably creamier. Shines in cold weather, but I think it would work in warmer weather too.

This was a blind buy and I have to say that I LOVE this perfume. It has such a warm, buttery, cozy scent that I can't get enough of. The bottle is nice but nothing too fancy...very Lalique. The scent lingers on me for hours and has moderate sillage. I would agree with some of the other users that said this perfume could be worn any time but I think it's best suited for nighttime (preferably with company if you get my drift).

Sweet and wooden, beautiful base scent and really great for layering. Gives to sweet scents a wooden base, without covering the notes of the original scent. For dry scents, on the other hand, get the appropriate sweetness without the wooden notes obscuring the original scent. The powderiness increases durability, without going soapy at any point. An excellent gift, there is nothing annoying here, I think. Beautyful Lalique💕

For me this is a fuzzy powdery vetiver, heliptrope and pink pepper cloud of deliciousness. More woody than vanilla. The floral notes I cannot pick out individually but they do contribute a sweetness and a brightness that is not gourmand. I love it. Those of you looking for a lot of vanilla or baby powder will probably not find it here. The wood notes can have a slight medicinal edge - I love that but not everyone does.

First spray is quite peppery - that would be the tonka bean. As it fades out, it gets a lot creamier, light heliotrope and probably iris. I also voted that Satine reminds me of Mon Guerlain. For me it's the vanilla-sandalwood combo that is similar. I'm happy that I don't get the lavender in Mon Guerlain which is the dealbreaker for me. Drydown is even creamier and also powdery - and I like it even more!

My Satine turned yellowish but it does not change the lovely, fluffy scent that is mainly tonka beans with sandalwood. The floral notes are soft beyond recognizability. Maybe a drop of gardenia scent, maybe a bit of heliotrope. A bit of vanilla and we have a very feminine, warm, fluffy and powdery composition. Lasts past 12 hours and suits colder seasons very well. Super likeable and sassy.

Lovely perfume! This one is straight up unsweetened vanilla to my nose, very pleasant with a soft trail, but excellent longevity! For reference, I applied Montale Attar to one wrist and Satine on the other and I could smell them both at a similar intensity after several hourse. Better performance than many other vanillas out there, for a better price tag!

The only perfume that is heavy on vetiver that I love and the only Lalique that I have never grown tired of before finishing the bottle. I have repurchased it several times over the years and always get compliments. As others have said the price tag is no reflection on the quality of this perfume. Satine is a soft and powdery little dream of vanilla and tonka. Tender, delicate and feathery like a tutu. I like sweet heliotrope; sandalwood and patchouly makes it so mysterious. Wearable all day long, every season is satine-season. A fluffy dream, girlish as well as ladylike - a new member in my collection.

I’ve made quite the dent in this perfume and I’ve only had it for a month or so. It’s a gorgeous powdery vanilla that dries down to a soft woody skin scent. I’m obsessed with the bottle and the atomizer is utterly dreamy. I’m so glad I have this in my collection and it was a great blind buy for me.

It's beautiful and unique, soft, fluffy, warm, pleasant, sweet but not overwhelming. Perfect for fall and winter. Great longevity: 10+ hours on me, it's rather close to the skin but it reminds you about its presence every now and then. The more I wear it, the more I like it. Well done!

I'm wondering if I can find anything that fits me better, but for a few years now this has been my signature scent!! My mother smelled it when I first got it and said "it smells like you." It gives a comforting and soft cashmere kind of coziness. Very muted.

Very pretty feminine scent and lovely bottle. The atomizer is amaing too. Good sillage and projection with decent longevity. Wonderful price point too. If you're looking for a nice soft feminine scent, this would fit a blindbuy in that arena.

I bought this 5 years ago and it is the only perfume that I like to wear anymore. I genuinely believe it is the best scent, I can’t think of a better fragrance. It has a soft, pinky smell that I think would suit anyone.

Nice dry vanilla scent, not gourmand. For me, it is very cozy. You can definitely detect sandalwood in this, which I love. I have on my office table, sometimes spray throughout a day. Nobody has found it offensive yet

Lalique never disappoints me. I was not sure about that one to be honest, but I gave it a try. Satine is very sweet on me, very warm, I feel comfortable when I'm wearing it and I get a lot of compliments, too.

Even if I have 200 fragrances and the latest releases, Satine never ceases to amaze me with its beauty. If you ask which fragrance every woman should have? My answer would be Lalique's Satine.

Before writing a bigger review, I will just say that I never in my life smelled a perfume with a more prominent red pepper note. It's very noticeable.

Soft, powdery, makeup compact vibes.

My first impression was that Satine smelled pretty close to what I imagined from the reviews, except a bit heavier on the wood and florals and lighter on the vanilla. On my skin the opening is very close to Mon Guerlain, but only for the first minute. After five minutes it's gone in a completely different direction and I don't smell MG at all. If anything it goes more in the direction of Sun by Jil Sander or Rochas Mademoiselle Couture. The tonka gets that same minty toothpaste-like accord (I think it's the tonka and heliotrope combination) and there is a slight soapyness. The mintiness negates the warmth I was expecting, it's fairly cool toned for a vanilla scent. Compared to Sun it's less soapy, less in your face and sits a lot closer to the skin. The mintiness also fades into the background a lot sooner, leaving behind a soft and fresh vanilla scent. It's not going to knock anyone's socks off, but it's really pleasant. The closest scent in my collection is Joop Le Bain. Satine is more minty, floral, sweet and powdery while Joop is warmer, dustier and rounder, has even more of that vintage book store feel in the background than Satine. Both are soft and comforting and really I'm happy that I have them, but if I could only pick one scent I'd go with Joop. I've got the largest size bottle of both and I've managed to put a noticeable dent in them. The lid and atomizer (smoothest progression ever!) are so high quality considering I paid 20 euro for 100ml. I already knew that the glass bottle was high quality so that was as expected, but the sprayer is really surprisingly top notch and better than some very expensive brands.

There was something to it that was similar to what I had smelled before but I couldn't get my finger on it. Aha! It's Hypnose by Lancome. I am surprised no one mentioned that it was at least a bit similar. Interestingly enough, both fragrances are on the same level when it comes to the overall perfume rating and seasons, there are no similarly smelling perfumes mentioned that match though. Still, these perfumes are not the same yet go in parallel to each other in the same direction. Hypnose is its darker more mature sister while Satine remains a much lighter AM fragrance. The flower notes come through a lot more in Satine. You get the vetiver at first while it's freshly sprayed. Then the tonka bean together with the vanilla gives a warm welcome. Both stay there throughout the whole performance. Unfortunately, performance is not long and after an hour it becomes close to the skin scent. If you want something super light, soft, feminine but interesting, this fragrance could be good for you. 6/10 Scent = 2/3 Performance = 1/3 Wearability = 3/3 Value = 0/1

Very feminine and sweet, gentle vanilla. At first sniff (initial test on skin because the sample vial from the company has a weird applicator cap thing going on), nothing but sandalwood and pepper, then quickly transforms into sweet white floral vanilla. What is probably the tonka bean grows in strength after that and the scent becomes a sweet vanilla tonka. The scent almost has a powdery characteristic to it. This is a very pleasant woman's scent but I'd caution against over applying it or wearing it in an office, as it is strong (to me). While it is a cheap fragrance, it is well-formulated enough that it doesn't smell trashy. I have two sample vial of this (with the weird filter dropper tops fml) and I could definitely see myself getting a full size after finishing the samples, though it will probably take a while to get through them as it's warm season while writing this and the fragrance is more of a cool season type. It would be so easy to purchase a full size, too, as it isn't expensive. Great scent that my SO can't get enough of on me!
