Eau de Lancaster

It's a 38 degree day in Adelaide, South Australia. I needed something green, clean and long lasting. I chose Eau de Lancaster because everything else would probably get on my nerves today. I was out gardening for a short while (whilst roasting simultaneously) and was appreciating the freshness of this 70's gem. This is a mature fragrance that you'd imagine sitting on the shelf in a Victorian barbershop in the late 1800's. Oakmoss and lavender are the standouts. It's both soapy and spicy - and a marvellous green colour! How can you resist?! I'd love to dive into a cool vat of this stuff! A beautiful and ghostly unisex veil of a fragrance that screams the late 1970's. I think it still stands the test of time and I'll continue to have it in my collection for as long as its around. Highly recommended for the stinking hot Australian climate! Sorry if my review is a little convoluted - the heat's gotten to me!

Lancaster is a Monegasque cosmetics house that seems more interested now in making skin care and sunblock products than perfumes, but this is one of their oldest fragrances that goes back to the late 1970s. It's a very pretty floral chypre that feels very much of that era (one of the best in perfumery), and it seems comparable to Diorella or Givenchy III. There's lots of juicy bergamot, velvety oakmoss, palisander rosewood, and basil. It's a perfect summer day fragrance, and actually not so floral (despite some jasmine in here) that it becomes too feminine: I'd call it almost perfectly unisex. This smells like you're in a breezy Eric Rohmer film from that era. And it's quite affordable, even at full retail.

My affinity for les eaux is evident through the many that are in my collection: Eau de Rochas, Eau de Campagne, Eau de Courrège, Ô de Lancôme... they are often a melange of citrus and green notes, aromatic, exhilarating, if not ephemeral and diaphanous. I ran into Eau de Lancaster, unassuming as I was browsing about, picked it up since it was affordable, gave it a go, and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't come off as a predictable or reductive. The jasmine and lily notes impart a certain provide a welcome contrast to the herbal lavender and green notes. Hot July days are reserved for this kind of freshness.

EAU LANCASTER BODY This comes in a tube and it was a blind buy, me and my side kick were visiting Almeria City and after grabbing an 70% off Azzaro bottle we grabbed one of these at 50% off. We thought it was a sun screen. It was like Supermarket Sweep ! OMG it's gorgeous, fresh fresh fresh laundry, refreshing, it's a real gem, we were going to fight for it on the plane home but I relented having taken a photo of it before saying sayonara to that beauty!

Such a beautiful perfume! On hot summer days, when I can't wear any perfume because they all seem just too sweet and heavy, this one I can wear. I wore it last summer when I visited Rhodes with my parents. Wore it day in and day out and under that hot greek sun this was the perfect perfume to wear.

Really special actually. Sort of a blend of Paco Rabanne Homme and Ted Lapidus Homme. I can smell honey here too. More masculine than feminine. Pretty potent too. A grower and lovely. This is very underrated in my opinion.

heavenly scent! better than so many niche perfums.

I've sprayed it on my wrists early afternoon. All it did for me was take me back to my childhood when dad picked me up right after he took a shower. Definitely meant for men. Hours later I got whiffs of Chanel's Egoist Platinum! So I looked up the notes and besides lavender, jasmine, amber and oak moss they're completely different... and yet... So I sprayed Eau de Lancaste on the inner side of my left elbow and Chanel Egoist Platinum on the right side. Very different openings but after 15 minutes... it's the same scent. My night will be about sniffing left and right but I'll write more tomorrow. --------------- zzz ----------- They are brothers for sure. Lancaster is the older one, he's more balanced and quiet and feels warm yet fresh in the end. Egoïst is younger, louder, more present (the name fits so well), juicier but far from cold. He just likes very long days and nights. Both are excellent for warm weather, I think Egoïst is better suitable for young men. Woman can wear Lancaster (I know I can and I will), but not on the 'colder' areas on the body. Inner side elbow versus wrist makes a huge difference from the start. I guess this will only get better when the temperature rises so I have to be patient to see if it's true since it still is winter in the Netherlands.

As a 30 year old man , I stumbled across this bottle rooting through my old hoarding stash above my wardrobe. I used the Lancaster milk body cream ( apart of some Lancaster gift bag ) in the shower and was hypnotised by the unbelievably fresh smelling scent it gave off , so I thought I’d buy the Eau de Lancaster aftershave , it’s very much the same smell compressed into the bottle as the body milk cream. This scent screams freshness , like i just came out of a hot shower on a hot day with a golden brown tan sort of freshness , definitely a clean shaven sort of vibe. But I would most definitely say , to pull this scent off properly , you’d have to be age 30 male plus.... I’ve only worn it a few times , and it’s definitely not a winter scent , i can’t wait to use it this summer.

I have 3 great Classic scents in my collection which are not considered as such, because they are hugely underrated. They are all still available today. Eau de Lancaster is one of them. This one costed me 18 euro's at the Douglas. You will find it in the women's section, just like most Unisex fragrances. Roberto Capucci pour homme is another Chypre. (15 euro's for 100 ML EDT and 120 ML deo spray). Worth pour homme (aromatic Fougere) is the 3th one. 7-8 euro's for 100 ML. None of these 3 smell outdated. The problem with some of the fragrances which are considered Classic today, is that they are either outdated or have been reformulated. I don't know if these 3 did but for me they now smell far better than for example Paco Rabanne Pour Homme.

Bought this for my husband but he did not like it due to the lavender and jasmine as it turned too sweet and flowery on him. Was thinking of selling it but tried it on myself today and was pleasantly surprised! The first few minutes it really smells like grandpa's aftershave - a nice herbal one - but then, wow, such nice refreshing and slightly sweet florals. Reminds me of spring when the leaves start sprouting, the sun is warming your cheeks but it is still chilly and you can smell trees blooming around you. I will try layering this as I think it is quite nice.

Lancaster now joins my summer "classic" sprays, including Eau de Rochas, Ô de Lancôme, Eau Sauvage Dior, Eau Fraîche Dior, Eau de Campagne Sisley, and so on. There are nuanced differences but they are all classic, refreshing and welcome. My oh my, I can find Lancaster bottles for 10 dollars so what's not to love? Give it to a friend today! How could someone NOT like this?

the ultimate perfect vintage fragrance for both genders. 70's & 80's quality ck one from a big house. Absolutely perfect for every day and not to miss for vintage looks. It did take 2 testing days for me to discover & appreciate it but now I love it.

Smell of freshly washed white clothes with Ariel for white. I actually like it a lot. Would be perfect in summer or after shower in gym. Clean and fresh. Morning fragrance

Beastmode Floral (jasmin) And amazingly cheap.

In NO way is this close to the energy of Eau Dynamisante other than they are both citric and aromatic. I literally bought them both at the same time, so no. This is a rather disappointing blind buy. It smells fresh in a common way - tired, dated and flat. It's the oakmoss that gives it that old-ish, dusty feeling. I will use it after shower, and as under arm deo spritz. 🤷♂️

The initial blast smelled like aftershave and very masculine. As it dries down it became more vegetal and less spicy. It lacks any sweetness and is pretty soft. It smells like a men’s grooming product. It similar to the smell of a blue or green soap bar but without the soapiness or sweet musks. So it’s a very clean smell.

I feel like walking through a mediterranean garden on a warm summer morning after rain. It`s lovely. Fresh but powdery. Despite being green it doesn`t have this greenish citro smell like so many others. In my opinion it`s the best Lancaster and way nicer than Eau de Concentree. Just too bad that it`s so hard to find.

On my skin there is something quite bitter and scratchy in this, I don’t think this Is for me, there are nice parts but equally there are unpleasant parts too, shame as I wanted to like it.

So far, Eau de Lancaster is disappointing for me. I got it confused with Eau de Rochas - long story - and I'm wishing I'd saved my money towards a purchase of the Rochas. Straight away, I get the 'male' references in reviews. It straight up smells like a typical aftershave genre. It actually reminds me a little bit of Cabotine - a recent disastrous blind buy. I'll give it a chance but I'm thinking .. meh. This full bottle, opened from new today, is bound for my charity pile, unless any UK'ers are interested in a swap.. Hmm .. it is nicer after half an hour to an hour .. Update few hours later - don't think I'm going to get on with this eau - but the body cream is LOVELY! (Weird, had the same thing with EL Knowing.)

Eau de Lancaster brilliantly solves the crucial problem of poor lasting strength on skin. You apply it in the morning and in the evening your skin is still fragrant as if you had just sprayed this beautiful cologne on you. In my opinion it's more for a man than a woman but nonetheless I like its sharpness, its being so green and fresh without being too lemony. I have nothing against lemons, oranges and citrus notes, it's just that this eau de toilette is more towards green, spices and herbs and I love it and find a lovely alternative to other much more famous colognes. So, if your concerns in colognes are: 1. poor lasting power; 2. too much citrus; with EAU DE LANCASTER PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Oooh this is so lovely. A unisex green cologne essence with a nice balance of barbershop and floral notes. Lavender smells so beautiful in this mix. It hits a nice sweet spot and remains refreshing throughout. Last for hours on me, easing into an aromatic powdery skin scent by end of day. Its a magical veil of a perfume as someone mentioned below. Bathing you in a light veil that's fresh cooling and soapy clean. This is made for hot weather but is also smooth enough to be worn anytime when you need to clear your head in a refreshing breeze of a perfume. A gem indeed. Thanks to all for the inspiration to blind buy this. Am hunting for a good value gift set with lotion attached.

start very green common colgane - i thought that its man perfume but after 10 min its become also clasic women after 1 hour there is no smell at all cypress lemon green soapy, rain its very old style so a m not going to use it althought its nice smell but i am not sure what will be the reaction

This was a best seller in Spain and it reminds me of a man's cologne, fresh, powerful, ever so slightely soapy. Very good for a hot summer when you're stuck in the city. Despite its simplicity, it's somehow edgy. I like it a lot, but I never see it for sale in the UK.

Herbal, clean and soap. I like it a lot, not for cold days. Really refreshing for a warm summer day. How warmer the skin how better this edt will smell. Also the amber and the vanilla give it when it's settle down a little bit of warmth/sweetness.

Sometimes I feel the soapy, fresh that I love, and other days the old lady really old fashion parfum that reminds me of my grandmother's perfumes. One day I love it, the next I hate it.

I blind bought it and I'm so glad I did! On my skin it smells exactly like a lovechild of Diorella and Clarins Eau Dynamisante. Unissex, fresh, clean ad uplifting. A beauty!

This parfume smells awful.Smells like old fashion for old man, not a trace for a lady parfume. It was a blind buy, I regret a lot that I bought this. I don't recommend!

Is in shops and stores nowadays??? Is really similar to EGOIST PLATINIUM???
