Monsieur

This perfume is focused on oakmoss, fresh, clear and sweet side of it. Monsieur is the reconstruction and relaunch of the first fragrance for man by Lancetti (1982) which in fact was a chypre leathery scent on the kind of Yatagan. This version is definitly different, more sugary although it remains very aromatic, but without those notes artemisia type, and is also more floral. But I do not so agree when I read this is a citrus aromatic. It is more a woody aromatic. The departure is indeed very green: petit grain, mint, fir, sharp, think of a garden in full shade, but also something noble, this creation is very classic and aristocratic. Think of an high society man of the early twentieth century dressed in white, with hat and cane. Definitely Moss, sandalwood, and petitgrain paraguay, are the masters. But they also feel the bitter citrus and herbs and darkness of Labdanum and patchouli. The cedar, the bergamot. Yes it is a bittersweet perfume. Rosish as well. Ferrous. Salty. I love it is one of my favorites. A perfect concert. PS:SirMasterpiece ahah... yes I am jealous of the perfumes I like. Not too much advertisements.

This fragrance astonishes me. It starts out like so many similar soapy, mossy old school men’s fragrances... Wait a minute. There’s something emerging from the blend, something that is at once a bit off putting but somehow amazing. Senorlancetti’s review is exactly right- a pleasurable funk that’s impossible to explain. Well said indeed! That’s exactly right. It smells like a combination of the labdanum and “oakmoss” with some plasticky bitterness added. There’s very little sweetness, if any. This is dry, aromatic, a bit soapy, and something mildly skanky lurking in behind it all. I just love to smell this but it doesn’t smell “good” if that makes sense... probably not. My description may not make it sound appealing, but Lancetti got the balance just right. The drydown is just downright superb. Monsieur is a traditional masculine scent, yes, but... if you like this men’s fragrance era DNA, this is worth a look.

Now this is a fantastic discovery. There is some surprising sophistication here that could easily compete with some of the overpriced niche fragrances of today. I discern a good amount of naturals in this composition, from the bright and dashing classic herbal citrus opening, to the labdanum and myrrh that makes for a compelling backbone to the fragrance. What is most noteworthy is the duality of clean and skank here (which I always appreciate) which I could attribute to the generous quantity of the aforementioned labdanum and myrrh. It's spectacular and what draws me in more and more. It lies close enough to the skin so that it isn't overbearing, but it definitely hums for a good while, creating a both cozy and seductive aura. I will be reaching for this come Autumn for cool nights when I want to be wrapped in a warm, dry, aromatic, mildly animalic embrace.

Opens with a bitter a bitter/citric petitgrain, supported by a spicy lavender. Then it will slowly morphs into a soapy(musk)/woody(cedar)/creamy(sandalwood)/incensy(myrrh) base, with a noticeable presence of a stunning green-ish oakmoss note (leaning towards tobacco) and labdanum, vaguely reminding me of Bogart Signature, at that stage. A work of art, from which Zaharoff Signature has been inspired (but ZS is clearly a step lower in blend, and 4 steps higher in pricing). Fans of Dunhill Edition, Creed Bois du Portugal and Lalique pour Homme must put their nose on this one. In a word: the smell of elegance. At just $30 for a 100ml tester, it's one of my best blind buys so far (or should I say, one of my best buys, period). Superb! Fresh days, 30+ Edit: performance has improved, projection is now moderate/good on my skin, and that only helps increase the love!

Stunning Fragrance ! Elegant, Classy,Crisp and Unique. A Classic scent with the shadow of Italian Style. It is very Rare and Expensive similar to niche Perfume. I bought it blind-buy after reading the positive comments. It opens up with Bitter citrusy, fresh spicy, green and spices notes in the background then dry down is Balsamic Woody. The Petitgrain note is dominant in this perfume. It has a unique composition that I haven't similar to it in my collection. This perfume smells like Bitter Lime peel with Spices , I really enjoy it and I love it. Longevity is Average. Two Thumbs Up. Rating : 8 / 10

Just gorgeous! This is how a gentleman should smell in summer. I only get a hint of skank. I am shocked that no one has compared this to Eau de Rochas pour homme. Eau de Rochas is more powdery. Lancetti Monsieur is smoother. Gucci Nobile is more masculine and serious. Lancetti Monsieur is charming and more relaxed. This fragrance can also be compared to Rochas Moustache original 1949, but that is sharper with much more skank. My only complaint is that projection is below average in my dry climate.

Well said Bigsly .... I will add & say that amongst the vintage hidden gems of the 90's this ranks amongst the top 2 or 3 in my collection ... I recently scored a 50ml bottle to go along with a small squadron of mini's i have collected since i first tried this ... Lancetti an amazing house of quality releases .. Im proud of the three i own from them .

I've really come to love this fragrance. There is a powerful yet very elusive scent memory from my youth associated with Monsieur. It's not the scent itself but the feel/vibe, a comforting place somewhere in time that I find myself longing to revisit.

So good. It is an older scent profile and it still is a grand slam scent. The wife approves. She especially enjoys the dirty drydown. This smells like class and style with a throwback vibe.

Lancetti not reach deserved place they should be in Perfume awards . The reason is that the average age of the members of fragrantica is low. they do not know this masterpiece.

This reminds me of mid-century fougéres with strong citruses, although here the lemon and bergamot are quite quiet (though noticeable), and so what you get here that's dominant instead are the other notes. The petitgrain is more evident than the other citruses (but of course petigrain is a subtler, quieter citrus), as are the woods (especially the palisander rosewood and the sandalwood). This is a gentle fragrance, and so it is more likable than lovable. I kept mentally comparing it other fragrances (Dior's original Eau Fraiche for the citrus/rosewood pairing, Milano Cento for the petitgrain), but then I would realize I liked the other fragrances quite a bit better. Still, for the inexpensive price, this is a good deal for what you're getting.

The EDT that has it all: Italian provenance, very reasonably priced and a sheer pleasure to wear. This is a classic cologne mix that manages to cram in, not only the requisite citrus opening and mossy dry down, but a delightful clary sage with hints of nutmeg in the heart and a patchouli-incense blend in the dry down. Bellissimo!

This starts off smelling very herbal green, almost like oregano (think pizza), with a minor citrus element. A slight soapiness develops, so perhaps there's some lavender in here, but that then blends into the drydown, which is a softer version of the opening. There may be some wood and moss, but it's mostly a dry herbal fragrance. It's not sweet, floral, spicy, or aquatic (apparently, this was released in 1995). I don't detect any patchouli, leather, or tobacco. Some mind find it slightly powdery. The closest fragrance to this one that I've tried is Baime, but this doesn't have the fruit notes of Baime, and is a softer blend. It seems like few people like these fragrances, but LM is for the aficionado who wants a dry fragrance where herbs are the star of the show. Longevity is very good and projection ("sillage") is just right.

Shouldn't the accord stack for this list "animalic"? As others have pointed out, there is something skanky lurking underneath, and it is somewhat prominent. Something like the animalis of old. Is this primarily the musk or is it a combination of other notes, such as maybe oakmoss and incense? No civet or castoreum listed, but the animalis "halitosis" accord is there. Typically I have issues with animalic notes but it actually works here, as it does in other favorites of mine like Floris Elite, Hermès Equipage, Parfums de Nicolai New York Intense, and even Roja Danger. I would like to think that this is an example of a classic mid-century Italian barbershop Fougere, but I'm not sure if its quintessentially Italian or not. But I like it. No doubt took major inspiration from Gucci Nobile. Very similar.

This is the predesesor of Creed Aventus, it was released in 1995, Aventus in 2010. I cannot believe nobody else mentioned the way it resemblance Aventus. It smells very good. On other's reviews, it was mentioned that this has animalic notes...the only skanky note in this fragrance is something felt when you push your nose on the application point in the first minutes, or on the atomizer....and that is all...no animalic notes in the air around you. Very good fragrance, beats almost everything on the market right now. Performance is quite strong! You can still find this online, and affordable. Do not hesitate, if you can find this buy it, you won't regret it!

This has nothing to do with Creed Aventus, not sure what the user below is referring to by their commentary. This is also not a replacement for the much more costly Barbier de Tanger, It resembles de Tanger only in the slightest sense and only in the opening. Is it good? Totally subjective, but it’s def not for me. Def leans mature and it’s skanky as others have said. If ur expecting anything resembling the more modern fougeres based on the notes, you will def be disappointed. Not a win for me but at least it was inexpensive.

Eau de Rochas Homme with more balls and a slightly skanky/animalic accord nestled underneath. I dig it.

Older mature man scent Beautiful composition but very weak.
