Absolue I Flamed A Rose

Unbelievably good scent- if you love patchouli rose scents this is better than the rest. The vetiver makes it stand out as unique. The best of the new Lancôme rose scents by far. by first sniff from the bottle, I was hooked.

Patchouli rose? Not for my nose at all. It's a warm amber rose with a very discreet but important chocolate patchouli undertone. It's love at first sight, my favorite from the entire Rose line. 💗

Lancome could have just tried to make a well-balanced and nuanced rose and patchouli (rosechouli) scent, ... but no, the current state of perfumery insists upon unusually memorable (yet often unnecessary) accent notes. Thus, I Flamed a Rose (odd name too...) opens with Rose, Patchouli, and the hottest (and most divisive) of hot spices, chile pepper. To be fair, they have applied the chile sauce with a light touch. This is by no means nasal pepperspray, Still, the slight tingling of the (unlisted) capsicium note isn't completely welcome in a floral scent, and certainly doesn't add much besides cheap novelty. The real problem here, is that there is also a (listed) vetiver note, and probably Javanese vetiver because there is a noticeable tinge of gasoline. That is not good. Javanese vetiver is the worst kind. It is probably also the culprit in the abysmal opening of Lancome's Absolue Hell of a Rose, which is even worse than this. That name says it all. (Actually, I'm coming to think the best vetiver is just pure acetylated vetiveryl acetate, but that is another story....) By the way, if anyone here is really searching for an excellent rosechouli, I recommentd Nicolai's Patchouli Intense. They use rose geranium in that blend and it seems to work very well, with excellent fragrance and performance.

The color of the juice should have been dark green instead of pink. I get a very dense green patchouli and vetiver combo, chewy, clean patchouli but strong... somehow the rose lurks among the damps and gives some relief...but the rose never gets to take the spotlight. At least on my skin the rose stays shy, while the green dudes keep demanding attention. The drydown has a light amber...and more patchouli I think it is ok. But you need to love patchouli with a passion to endure this...

Very nice patchouli rose combo. It reminds me a bit of VCAA Moonlight Patchouli but with less rose and of Coco Mademoiselle EDP Intense. Ibelieve it is the best of the collection Absolue of Lancome. It is very well blended.Top quality rose from les jardins de Grasse.
