Absolue Not Your Rose

I first tried out Not Your Rose at an airport. I had to rush to my gate before I realized how much I loved the scent. It lasts all day on me and had me wanting more. The aquatic rose notes feel so elegant and regal - mermaid princess vibes personally. I must find a new pair of turquoise silk gowns now and live the dream. I managed to pick up a bottle discounted by chance as I believe they are ceasing to stock the Absolue Les Parfums in many places. The price point is very high which would be a turn off. Mine was 50% off which was still high but more rational purchase. Luck was on my side. I disagree with the wintery "Cold and Mysterious" description that Lancôme describes. Its much more bright. Im soooooo happy I own this now. 2026 made.

Omg this scent is so different of anything I have in my collection and I have almost 200 bottles. It’s so yummy and great combination. It’s one of my top 4 of the collection.

It is nice in the beginning but no one - including me - notices this after half an hour.... way too weak

As fate would have it, this is the last of my Lancôme Rose Absolue vials to sample. It wasn't any intention on my part. Maybe I kept reading 'Not Your Rose' and my fingers subconsciously selected another vial. ...but now, I'm happy to announce, I chose one of the worst for last. (Hell of a Rose, I Flamed a Rose, and 6AM Rose are also likely contenders) Not My Rose is a a basic rose, heavily and inexplicably brined in sea salt. Very organic sea salt that even takes on the pong of rotting marine life during the abysmal opening. Later in the drydown it just becomes another drearily acrid, bitter rose. There is still a tang of salt to it, but no happy memories of beach days or ocean voyages will emerge from this pointless and unfortunate experiment. Actually, the rose slowly disappears completely, being relaced with musk, perhaps? That is an improvement; better salt and musk, than salt and roses. Overall I'm really disappointed in Lancôme. The completely botched what could have been a grand exploration on the romantic pleasures of roses. Instead the whole project must have been hijacked by avant-garde olfactory sadists who were only trying to impress their fellow denizens at the lunatic fringe. Of eleven fragrance vials I smelled no more than three were complete successes. ...and one of those three was just a minor reworking of the already separately successful Oud Bouquet!

Lancôme Not Your Rose carries a sense of déjà vu—a scent I know but can’t quite place. The closest comparison I can make is Mugler Fantasquatic, but with a delicate touch of rose woven in. It’s fresh yet subtly floral, with an airy quality that feels effortless and modern. What draws me in the most is the salty nuance. It’s smooth, almost like a whisper of sea breeze over warm skin. The projection is soft but not too faint; it’s the kind of fragrance that doesn’t announce itself loudly but still leaves an impression. Moderate longevity means it won’t last all day, but while it’s there, it wears beautifully. For a fragrance priced at MYR1045 for 100ml (USD270 as of March 10, 2025), I expected more refinement in the packaging. The bottle is sturdy and elegant, but a magnetic cap would have been a thoughtful touch—something to match the quiet sophistication of the scent itself.
