Absolue Rose On The Moon

Like so many of Lancome's rarer, higher-end fragrances the notes don't capture the complexity of the fragrance. Absolue Rose on the Moon is an immediate favorite from the Absolue discovery set (which is a great bargain and highly recommended). The rose here is red and slightly dry. The incense is akin to an incense accord you might find in Comme des Garcons incense series. The sandalwood needed a moment to balance: it almost veered dill, but that nuance disappeared entirely on me, and became outstanding on my skin. There is also a tiny hint of praline, giving the composition a bit of sweetened balance. This is a fragrance any lover of rose and incense should try. I really like this. I'll definitely have to wait until it is available for a good deal.

INCREDIBLE!!! Smelt this at the mall yesterday and unfortunately didn’t have it in store but I ordered it immediately!! The notes on fragrantica are not the same on Lancôme site... CENTIFOLIA ROSE Born from the Domaine de la Rose: Honeyed rose shines with pear & lychee-esque notes at its heart. VANILLA ESSENCE A mellow and carnal tone brought about by a harmony of facets: honeyed, ambery, spicy... SANTAL ESSENCE Powerful, enveloping woody touch with creamy facets These are the notes that are listed on the website and I knew I wasn’t going crazy when I smelt vanilla! The rose is sparking but is balanced by the darkness of the Santal making it very sexy and sophisticated. So excited for my bottle to arrive 10/10.

This perfume exudes elegance! It instantly reminds me of my affluent aunt in Argentina—classy, refined, sophisticated, and beautiful. She drives a Porsche, wears Dior, and lives in a stunning mansion. This scent captures her essence perfectly. It blends creamy sandalwood with a touch of incense, a hint of jammy rose, and a whisper of vanilla. A truly sophisticated and luxurious fragrance!

This is my new favorite. I like rose scents, but I don’t care for overly flowery, sweet, one-dimensional rose scents. The addition of the sandlewood balances the rose scent perfectly. I always get a “Mmm, you smell good,” out of my husband with this one. I wear it to sleep when I want to dream that I’m wealthy and sophisticated.

A beautiful rose sandalwood fragrance. If my memory seems me well, it’s very similar note wise and scent wise to Desert Eden from the Luxury Collection by Estée Lauder. Creamy, woody, powdery rose forward perfume. Nothing groundbreaking but really beautifully done. It’s just a matter of preference, which one you like better the presentation or which you can get cheaper. From my experience, Estée Lauder is cheaper price wise, around 100 euros less per 100 ml bottle, so I would go with that if I would buy a rose centric prfgume.

I like this one a lot actually; it's more santalwood than rose and as such it's clean and spicy at the same time. I keep getting whiffs from it every time I move my hand and it's so fresh and nice that I keep asking myself if a FB wouldn't be such a bad idea after all. My favorite from The Absolue line after Oud Bouquet. Rose on The Moon is simply a rose wrapped in soft, creamy sandalwood. But that simplicity hides something quietly beautiful. The rose is delicate and fresh, never too sweet, while the sandalwood adds a smooth, comforting warmth that lingers gently on the skin. It’s elegant, soothing, and effortlessly graceful. A lovely composition.

Classic woody-floral scent! It smells warm, soft and elegant, a woody perfume with rosy top notes and very little sweetness. I’m so into this! Well... even though I love this fragrance, it’s definitely way too overpriced.

I usually love sandalwood but here it sadly smells like dill to me.

Ack I’m getting dill. Pickles on the moon, no thanks.

I usually enjoy woody fragrances but this one is very stinky. It's harsh and headache-inducing. It's not very well blended. Instant scrubber.

Rose On the Moon As I read the name off the bottle, I found myself filled with both intrigue and trepidation. Intrigue because of the possibilities of an extraterrestrial rose scent, suggesive of space exploration, science fiction, and futurism. (True, Man has already been to the Moon, but we haven't grown roses, or made perfume, there yet). Trepidation because such futuristically fictional scents don't have a great track reccord for actually smelling good... Therefore, after sniffing blindly (without consulting the listed notes), I was surprised to find myself suggesting a name change of more earthly origin: Rose In a Salad Yes, the scent smelled mostly of dill and celery, mixed with some sweet, rose-ish florality. Pretty much just that. Then I read the notes... Low-key mirth ensued. The dill-pickle 'sandalwood' note had struck again; this time mixed with bog-standard rose. (How/Why was sandalwood linked conceptually with the Moon?) ...and, in fairness, as the drydown continues, the santal becomes less 'dillic' and more conventionally vanillic. Having said all that, Rose on the Moon isn't a completely horrible fragrance, for it does offer an admittedly amusing sense of vegetarian domestic comfort. Indeed, potagerie herbs in perfume are supposedly on-trend. So, if a savory-herb salad garnished with sweet rose petals appeals to you, do give this a try.

Lancôme never cuts corners with its perfumes, and in Malaysia, Lancome perfumes is always sought after especially Miracle, with its iconic pink juice, still holds its place as a beloved classic among women. Rose on The Moon takes a different path, offering a refined blend of rose with a whisper of dusky, creamy sandalwood. It’s so smooth that for a moment, I almost mistook it for oud, but no—this is sandalwood at its most elegant, grounding the rose without overpowering it. The way the two notes intertwine feels almost poetic, like roses blooming only under moonlight, their scent lingering in the cool night air. It’s not heavy, but it’s not fleeting either. Lightweight yet present, with an aura that stays close but undeniable. I can see this working beautifully for Muslim men heading to Friday prayers, something I’d definitely wear myself. The combination of rose and wood always feels expensive, effortlessly refined, and here, it’s done with remarkable elegance. At MYR1045 as of March 10, 2025 (USD270), it’s an investment, but one that feels justified. The bottle is exceptional. Lancôme knows how to make a statement but I can’t help but wish for a magnetic cap to complete the experience.

competent on the drydown... but to get there, you must face the dill! It's funny, I've been testing these absolues occasionally on the way home from work- the unifying feature of them is that I always appreciate the rose note, but there's also always some other note that gets in the way! Can they release a pure rose version pretty please... the lancome absolue rose really is good, with its sweet, rich, fruity facets. I don't want to fight through dill, figs, and the rest to get at it anymore!

Usually I don't fall victim to the "sandalwood-pickle-effect", but this one off the rip has a strong dill note. On first spray, it genuinely reminded me of childhood Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, briny, savory, oddly nostalgic. It’s unexpected and strangely mouth-watering, to the point where it makes me hungry.

I smell rose of course but it is not the main player. It is a woody fragrance. Sandalwood has an oudy aspect in the opening and cardamom is also present. Sandalwood becomes more classical in the dry down ( I mean more what we expect to smell in Sandalwood).
