Lancome La Collection CLIMAT is a lush verdant chypre complete with bona fide oakmoss (evernia prunastri is listed among the ingredients on the box) and embellished with aldehydes. What a stunning composition this is! Unlike some "old school" (aka "old lady") perfumes, CLIMAT does not smell musty or dusty but rich and green as a forest after a long rain. The floral notes are very fresh and mingle together as in a beautiful bouquet, which is balanced by the green and chypre notes in such a way as to prevent this from being a primarily floral creation. Although the greenness is marked, it is never harsh. The longevity of CLIMAT is excellent, and the sillage just right for a perfume of this type: noticeable but not overwhelming. Highly recommended to all lovers of fine floral green chypres!

J'ai déjà senti ce parfum. Je ne sais plus quand. Je ne sais plus où mais ses effluves ne sont pas inconnues à mes narines. Crémeux. Onctueux. Aldéhydé. On le devine fascinant à l'époque où il n'avait pas (encore) subi de transformation au détour d'une reformulation (satanées reformulations !!!). Sur ma peau un parfum de crème nivéa mélangé à de la narcisse et un accord lipstick rose/violette. J'adore !! Par contre le sillage est très très court et la longévité toute autant !!! Si Lancôme voulait bien sortir un extrait de ce petit bijou qui a ressorti le bout de nez et le nôtre par la même occasion....

I have old formulation ( yay! lucky me). Usually, I do not like aldehydes but this one is an exception. This is a very classy, calm (soft) fragrance. Not the "old lady" - not at all! Close to skin, however, do not overdo it. It gets more louder on skin with some time. Maybe due to our warm weather right now, but it got very noticeable by the time i got to the office. Very long lasting. P.S It has nothing to do with the new version of this fragrance. Even though it has the same name and brand.

This is so intensely 60s, I can hardly believe it! Extremely green and "fresh" in the 60s sense and very chic in its time. The modern nose is completely unfamiliar with a fragrance like this. Galbanum and soapy florals are offset by the strangeness of the added narcissus and violet. Dirty and clean and scathing and fresh, this fragrance is the perfect example of what popular perfumery was in the 60s.

I have the tiny size of this. It smells exactly like L'oreal Elnett hairspray...which is not necessarily a bad thing. I've always liked that smell. Not sure how accessible Climat is these days, but Elnett hairspray is ubiquitous. There you go!

One of the most gorgeous fragrances I have tried . I didn't expect to like it as I bought the set for the rose fragrance. It just fills me with joy ,it sparkles and I love the lily of the valley .

This is my second review for the same fragrance. A girlfriend just brought this back for me from Paris. Her experience at the Lancome counter at Galleries Lafayette was certainly curious. She asked for Climat, and the young male sales assistant didn’t know what this was. He had to consult one of the senior ladies at the counter who indicated that it was available, but not on display, apparently they keep it concealed under the counter as this fragrance isn’t on show to customers. My friend said she thought she was buying something rare or unpopular or even illicit. About AUD $90. The EDT 75 ml is in a pale blue box, the bottle is identical to the current Magie Noire bottle, and the Oud bottles without the embellishments. Now, the fragrance is in my opinion almost identical to the Climat available on Perfume.com, somehow slightly more delicate- less creamy, more floral... and also very similar to Amouage Dia, which many say is similar to the original Climat. This is very confounding to me as I understand there is a booming business in Eastern Europe producing fake Climat, which I am sure mine couldn’t be since it was purchased from the Lancome counter in Paris. At the same time I see there are vintage bottles on sale which the vendors purport to be genuine, going for ridiculous prices...$999! If Climat is available at the Lancome counter in Paris, even if it isn’t on display, why are people pursuing supposed vintage versions at ridiculous prices? I am missing something here, clearly. Anyway I love this one, and the one from Perfume.com, and Amouage Dia. Box ingredients also lists oak moss.

Aldehydes, muguet, civet, in that order. What an interesting squeaky clean yet thrillingly dirty perfume. It starts off so sharp. Not exceedingly green to my nose, but incredibly soapy aldehydes and a clear lily of the valley. At this stage it brought to mind a very chilly, austere First. I've heard First described as aloof before, but it has a bubbliness to the aldehydes and a peach note that make it more approachable to me than Climat. Just as I felt my nose was tingling from too much freshness, since muguet doesn't usually agree with me so much, the big civet not comes out. The same oily, strong civet in the La Collection Magie and current Shalimar EdP. Very interesting, but the beginning is so bracing I'm not sure if I can take it. It might be a shock to someone who buys this based on the top notes.

I recently blind bought the reformulated version from perfume.com for a reasonable price. I find it really pleasant, I know it will never live up to the impossible sanctified standards of the original, but this is gorgeous. The EDT - It's a floral bouquet mixed up with Nivea cream, average sillage and about 3-4 hours longevity . The first spray sparkles and it settles quite quickly into that old fashioned creamy scent. Parfum - not as nice as the EDT in my opinion, a little sweeter and richer version but missing the creaminess. For the price, this is a great buy, there's no zingy fruits or sugar hits here, just the soft scent of a woman's boudoir. It makes a nice change if you're in the mood to wear something soft, feminine and totally unique.

Great green chypre. Starts sharp on the aldheydes with a peachy-powdery accord. I got the coffret Collection with four 15 ml bottles of the best Lancome frags (Magie, Mille et une Roses, Sikkim and Climat). Reminds me of YSL Rive Gauche, but without the sharp bitter/dryness of this one, and it goes closer to "Y", another chypre by YSL on the soapy side. Crisp and sharp (due to the vetiver), you also have a white floral bouquet (lily of the valley, jasmine, rose) that turn it into a very feminine scent. The base is amber, musk, civet, and tonka bean, giving it depth and sensuality. Elegant and refined, goes well with a confident personality that likes understatement but wants to be remembered. Excellent staying power. A Must try.

there are licensed versions of Climat were available last 20 years and actually were as far from original as it was possible. Unfortunatly Lancome does not make a parfum any more. The only available concentration is EDP, 15 ml and in the bottle that shown here. For parfum maniacs: search e-bay for it.

A rich, soft, warm, feminine, delectable fragrance.

I love old time classics. However, apparently my chemistry amps rosemary....a LOT. I kind of smell "around" it and see what a perfect fragrance this could be....without the rosemary :o(

Old-time aldehydes tinged with smokey soapiness open Climat. This is not a "today" perfume or a "foodie" fragrance, this is a mature perfume, an experience into perfumery on how it used to be done. Some very old, quite vintage Avon perfumes from their beginnings have this opening, such as Moonwind in the original packaging of the tall blue glass cylinder. Civet and wood are strong also, while it lasts. Head out to a used book store in some vintage garb wearing Climat on a Saturday afternoon and you'll feel at ease with your world. This is a choice of an adult perfumista who has tried a world of perfumes, one who has stepped amongst the florals, the chypres, the gourmands, the woods and so many others. Climat is for one who understands vintages in their purity. But also appreciates them for what they bring to their lives. This is a combination of aldehyes, civet, woods, vetiver, florals, mosses, powders and others that blend together in such an old-fashioned manner that it is a perfume that should be experienced. Spraying it on creates such a perfume aura, almost one of antiquity, one that is unspoken of in these fruty-floral days. Is it old-fashioned? Or is it a perfume for the mature nose? In doing a comparison of Moonwind, I found that vintage Moonwind and Climat(La Collection Fragrances by Lancome) were very difficult to tell apart. The smokiness of Climat, the vetiver and the soapiness lingers throughout in such a classic well-mixed manner. For me, this composition sadly fades quickly. Two hours later, it was gone. But the experience was not, and that I appreciated. This is a perfume I would pull out infrequently. When I am tired of everything else, and I seek something that reminds me of ball gowns, my college sorority formals, of dancing under the moonlit sky I'll think of reaching for Climat. It's sophisticated. It's mature. It's elegant. It's a completely different experience.

The version in the picture on this page is the "La Collection" version from 2005-2006, and that is the version I'm reviewing. It's lovely, although it is a bit different than the vintage Climat. This "La Collection" version has a beautifully balanced, sharp and bitter-sweet main accord of astringently sour bergamot bolstered by aldehydes, violet leaf, sweet peach, lily of the valley, rose, narcissus, and tuberose. So lovely, enlivening, and distinctive. Eventually, it dries down to musk, vetiver, a subtle synthetic sandalwood, and a hint of light "leather" (isobutyl quinoline) that stands in for the warm, powdery natural sandalwood, ambergris, orris, & civet of the vintage Climat. The 2.5oz EDT spray with the gold cap is very similar to this "La Collection" version. My experience was similar to Moppety below: when I inquired about it at Sak's 5th Avenue in Boca Raton back in 2018, they seemed momentarily baffled, then someone brought it out from behind the counter. I guess, like Estee Lauder, they keep their old classics hidden out of sight in a drawer. (There are a lot of fakes of the blue marble boxed version of Climat, so buyer beware. For starters, avoid the blue marble box with the big gold square on the front - it's absolutely not authentic and smells horrible, and so do most of the 75ml EDT sprays in the blue marble box. Ugh, so many fakes of this fragrance. It's sad...)

Climat by Lancome has been pretty much a signature fragrance for me since 1998, when I found it, purely by chance, at a Nordstrom fragrance counter here in La Jolla, CA. I absolutely love everything about this beautiful fragrance. What is greatly disappointing and frustrating is the fraud Climate that is being sold online - even advertised here on this page, the one in the marble blue boxes with the lime green liquid that like someone else mentioned here smells just like hairspray! It is horrible!!! I have heard that the fake Climat is being made and distributed from Russia?Nothing at all like the real Climat. Lancome doesn't always put their beautiful original on the market. For the past 20+ years, the only place I've found this original is on the Lancome website - and, when I finally do see it there, I purchase 2 or 3 bottles! Because one never knows when it will be sold there again! I truly love this fragrance and expect I will continue to wear it for the rest of my life! Try it - but make sure you are getting the original - not the fraud!!! Enjoy!!!

What warmth and flowers can do! the opening is a symphony of violet, lily of the valley and narcisse.Soon some herbal green notes appear, must be the rosemary with vetiver. The initial sniff may not do the magic but give it ten minutes and you will understand. Climat is incredibly warm and cosy and elegant scent. The aldehydes in it are much less sharp than in many of it peers, it is initially floral, somewhat powdery scent. It lasts for ages on my skin but has a soft sillage which makes it great for daywear and the office. but it's by no means meek. Quite the contrary! It is close to skin but those who get in it's radius don't want to leave. In this age of gourmands I see even clearer the beauty of aldehydes and green perfume. get your hands on Climat as soon everyone will want to have just this kind of scent! It is not old fashioned, but modern and feminine.

An interesting green-floral eau de parfum, I have exactly the same bottle shown in the picture. Even though I like it, I regret spending the money to buy it simply because it lasts barely an hour on me. Within 15 minutes it turns into a skin scent and an hour later it is gone completely. Let's not talk about sillage here, zero. As a composition it is very good but there are several other scents of that era that smell as good and last much longer.

This smells great! I mostly get very well balanced herbal and flowery notes. I find it a fresh, sparkling scent with a nice soft undertone. I also could swear I smell some mint in it. After a while it becomes slightly warmer and a bit musky but still remains fresh (must be because of the sandelwood), with just a touch of sweet notes. I think it's a classic and stylish one... I love it!

I got the old version and... it's boring. At the beginning, there is a clear peach note with a touch of lily of the valley the impression changes to the of grandma's soap. Too much roses, I think. Or one of the scents that don't go with my skin.
