DISCONTINUED FRAGRANCE REVIEW NO.#5 / 10 Sorry to do this to you, Perfumites, but I'm about to review a fragrance that is near-impossible to get. I love this. Lo❤e this. Like, sell-off-my-first-born-child-to-get-it-love (I'm joking. Mostly). I got this perfume randomly about 10 years ago. I can't even remember what compelled me to buy it, but I wore it over the next year or so happily enough. It wasn't until last year that I even saw a picture of the bottle and almost screamed. Since I had become obsessed with it very slowly over the decade. Again, I'm sorry for hyping this up. It's probably not that special in a general sense, but I can't help falling in love over here. Essentially, it is a spicy, floral scent. I'm not the biggest fan of such scents as they tend to smell a bit...*looks around*... old. Not "old lady", calm down (I see you twitching there). More like a perfume starting to turn. This is gorgeous, though. It's kind of a spicy, vanilla-y, musky lemon. But there's a beautiful, slightly-heady floral there, nothing overly sweet (the vanilla adds the perfect amount of sweetness to this). There's also this slightly sharp greenery that is faintly soapy that I love. If I'm honest, the spicy greenness is likely the oleander. My parent's house used to have this oleander tree out the front, and that green, spicy - yet floral - note is definitely there and wonderfully unique. The sharp greenery is so perfectly aligned with the long, thin, sharp leaves of nerium oleander! Just like oleander - this scent is dangerous! The Cyclades are a group of islands, or archipelago (SUCH a great word!), in the Aegean Sea between Greece and Turkey. I'm under the impression the scent is meant to be reminiscent of a holiday in the Mediterranean. I have no idea if this is true, but I suspect such things. Does it make me think of a holiday by the sea in the Cyclades? I mean...it doesn't make me actively *not* think of it. Sure, I can conjure up some images of a woman sitting on a balcony in a Greek villa on a sunny day, looking over the sea with the scent of her recent shower behind her and the open flower market below her on the street. Mostly, I think of a woman who has a clean, crisp style (well-fitting clothes; tailored even), is highly intelligent, but doesn't speak for the sake of hearing her own voice. When she wants to say her piece, you'll kindly hush up and listen! Sillage and longevity are good! Sure, I'd like more, but it radiates a bit and smells awesome on clothes! Hangs around for 4-5 hours. It's intoxicating to me and I constantly sniff this on my hand! I adore the packaging and bottle. The beautiful watercolour accent sprayed across each is simple, yet beautiful. The strong, sturdy glass bottle and cap shape weirdly makes me think of a Transformer. But, you know, a nice, florally one. That aside, I adore this. Of course, it's dang-near impossible to get, so I will hoard my 50ml bottle and spray on the rare occasion so that I may continue to adore this beauty and indulge in its power! *** Kitty rating: 9.5/10!

Just had to try this because of the description. It is amazing how perfumers combine citrus and vanilla (like Pamplelune)to such a delightful effect. Then you toss in a little oleander and you have the perfect summer perfume. Very Mediterranean.

It was one of my all-time-favourites with a great, fresh opening which turns into a well-balanced floral body. How sad it was the one of a limited edition collection. I think Lancome should reproduce it...

I agree and feel the same as mirianacellier. And would buy if someone doesnt need it.

Bought on a whim & I am pleased that it is so pretty, so meditteranean, so relaxed....however, I am unsure if it is striking & strong enough to remain in my collection. This scent is soft, clean, sweet, warm & delicate yet has substance. At first it starts with an interesting green note that is bitter & fresh. Quickly, the fizzy-sweet heart opens & tempers the bitter-orange blossom. The fizzy-sweetness is not the sherbet fizz found in Armani Diamonds, but a soft, fuzzy heat-haze. Sleepy, sweet & sunkissed. From then on it is heady, swaying oleanders & gentle jasmine atop a base of musk. The jasmine-musk combo reminds me a little of that found in Light Blue....but here everything is softer, smoother, slower & more wistful in nature. On the dry down an unusual salty note emerges - like salty sea spray thrown up from waves crashing on the cliffs. This, accompanied by the heat-haze effect, are the best bits of this perfume for me. If only it had a fruity twist, a sour note in the composition or some gentle spice...

I like it, and actually, i like it alot. I was passing by the parfume department,when i saw this Lancome fragrance ( never tried this parfume befor). The price was very good! There was also tester, so i tried it on. First thing i thought of was that it is good "office" fragrance. Nothing special. Neutrall floral. I got back home without it. But at home, i just could not stop thinking about this fragrance. I could not stop sniffing my wrist and, also, thinking about the good price :) So, next day i bought it! And I like it :) P.S This has never happend to any of you befor, I KNOW ! LOL I will also agree with Hermione, that this fragrance is sweet & flowery/powdery.

Cyclades is alright, another safe perfume out there. It starts as a breeze, with floral hint, maybe due to the combination of neroli and bergamot. After a while it smells really creamy powdery (creamy as in a velvet way, not the foody sugary way). Somehow it reminds me a lot of Baby by Harajuku Lovers, but a lot warmer, a lot vanilla-y. The dry down is kinda cozy, and comforting. Besides really hot summer days, Cyclades can be easily worn by anyone anytime I guess. It's inoffensive, but has some personality. However, I just felt something essential is missing in this perfume.

Smells like sweat (brings to mind walking in the high temperatures Greece has during summer) with some flowers in it. It isn't awful, but doesn' t stand up to the expectations i have regarding Lancome perfumery. Not their best fragrance, doesn't remind me aspects of Greece in particular. I can't associate. Has the common accord base (poudre flowery) Lancome perfumes usually have, but it's not great as the other fragrances of that house. 10.56

This fragrance absolutely transports me to a vacation in the Mediterranean. I can't believe this is discontinued because it is beautiful. Very elegant floral, but the vanilla makes it unique and timeless. Instant love!

Dear guest_Wendy, Cyclade is part of the Collection Voyage edition and is normally only available at airports. I've seen it on ebay and online fragrance discounters too, I think it was fragrance.net?

i bought it yesterday and i really liked it.it smeels like big white oleanders,comforting and soft.in my country-turkey-at summertime,oleanders grow everywhere,they includes poison,but we love them.

This is another fragrance I loved the idea of, I was (am still) desperate for a scent that evokes the earthy, pollen rich, pine laden, sea scented air that for me is the essence of the greek islands. I got some blah florals and a definite initial hit of orange/orange blossom, not offensive in any way, but with a background of sugary cream. It reminds me of Flower bomb in that way, another one I wanted to love. Nowhere near as hefty sillage or longevity as Flowerbomb though. This is inoffensive but there are better florals and better orange frags out there.

This is nice on my 21 y.o doughter, fresh vanillic floral but on me it's too sweet and sinthetic.

Fragrance Review For Cyclades By Lancôme Top Notes Neroli Bergamot Middle Notes Oleander Jasmine Base Notes Vanilla Musk This fragrance should come back. It's absolutely beautiful. The bottle is lovely and matches with the scent inside of it. The Cyclades are Greek islands in the Aegean Sea/Mediterranean Sea and this is a Mediterranean floral fragrance. It smells like scented breezes, soft caressing zephyrs as you sail the Aegean and get whiffs of flowers from the islands. The opening is a fresh citrus, like an orange grove at a distance. The neroli and bergamot orange are there as it begins, sparkling, summery and delicious. There is a cool cold aquatic vibe to the way this fragrance begins. It makes me think that it was made to be worn in the summer time, to be worn at the beach and for sailing. Perhaps certain fragrances are really meant to be worn that way. The flower that most stands out here is the nerium oleander. Oleander is a poisonous flower but naturally in perfumery it's a lovely floral scent, sweet, soft, powdery. The white jasmine scent is more along the lines of what I consider true Mediterranean flowers and it is also beautifully rendered. The flowers are tenuous but heady, adjacent to the grove of orange trees. The vanilla powder matches up with the oleander. This is a vanilla at the dry down. There is very little musk. This fragrance feels like sailing to all the Greek islands as the sun begins to set in the horizon. It's a perfume of womanly maturity but that vanilla scent is youthful. It's the kind of perfume that goes with bikinis, swimsuits, sundresses, and casual clothing to wear to the beach or on vacation. It's a vacation perfume but not tropical, certainly not fruity, just a relaxed floral scent. This is a feminine sweet floral scent, nothing extraordinary but it's utterly sensual, subtle and easy to wear. I find it refreshing and intoxicating, a summer scent. It's unfortunate it's been discontinued. I would write to Lancôme to bring it back but I can't be the only one doing it.

My father purchased this several years ago, it was a blind buy and I ended up taking it. And I surprisingly really liked it, it's very summery but in the sweet way, not in the fresh one. It's all about the bergamot and the vanilla for my nose (and probably some flowers I can't distinguish). Sadly this is the only perfume I have that is already showing signs of aging although I store them all closed in the same dark and cool place. I noticed strange yellow sand-like particles in the liquid (even when going bad it is consistent with its seaside theme :). The scent hasn't changed but I guess I have to use it up this summer. It's also sad that it was a limited edition because it's on the interesting end of the regular everyday scents. There's something "extra" to it I can't put my finger on and I'm very happy to own this.

Ok, I have to try this. Oleander is a big love for me. If you grew up in Southern California in the 80's and 90's you know the plant and the flower. They removed most of them due to them being poisonous but they used to line the freeways (5, 91, 22, 405) and when the Santa Ana's would kick in, the air would take on this sweet scent similar to plumeria's but a bit more powdery and almost fruity. The Oleander I've smelled lately aren't nearly as fragrant as the one's from the past, IMO. Anyways, It's a novel memory for me and finding out it's used in perfumery was exciting. Most of the time, it's a background note, but here, it's front and center and I find that exciting. Review to come...

I love the fresh, clean and soft blast that I get initially. Which I which lasted longer! Then it's all vanilla on me. And I agree that that there is something amiss, can't pin point what though, maybe some kinda spice (anise maybe) would have made it a more rounded perfume. But I'm no expert. It's not at all offensive and vanilla lovers can sure give it a try.

I recently bought this perfume online, also on a whim. It dries to a sweet flowery/powdery scent. Quite pleasant for daywear. But it's rather weak and a lot of modern perfumes seem to wear off rather quickly. I am also wearing Jo Wood's Usiku perfume. That gives the spicy bass I like in perfumes. They work well together.

A summer scent. But for me not very good one. A smell a soapy smell of oleander. The note is a bit soapy and similar to a laundry powder. No much of vanilla. Musk yes a bit.I had just a sample. A blind buy would be a big mistake. Try before you buy a bottle.

I'm really new and inexperienced here and I love the opening notes of this one. Any suggestions for a perfume with a similar opening but without the vanilla/sweet drydown? It would be really appreciated.

I've tried it today. I don't know what to think about it. an hour later it has something which reminds me of glue. The first sniff was quite ok. I guess it is floral.
