Hypnôse Homme

It is one of most underrated male fragrances. ☝🏼 Considering that Lancôme is such power house for women perfumery, it is quite surprise that their only male perfume available is cover in obscure mystery. 🤫 It is very masculine scent in best way possible. ♂️ Smells elegant and strong, seductive but without sweetness notes so prominent in scents made these days. Extremely versatile : work, date, family dinner, afternoon in the city center. It would add a pinch of sophisticated ambiance to every occasion. I am wearing it all year long - different weather kicks different notes out if it. However it would be your late summer, autumn scent - if we need to out it into a season category. Scent is herbal, 🌿 refreshing, in first minutes straight in your nose but it turn into cuddly and mysterious mist ✨ that stay fir hours on skin and fir days on the cloths. Citruses 🍊 are well blended with cardamon - they are not out forward so you don't get freshly cheap vibe that citruses often cause in opening. Not at all, you get really unusual opening of masculine realm - like nice 1910 Art Nouveau Vienna apartment with wooden panneau and crystal goblets waiting to be filled with liquor. 🎩 Lavender feels ultranatural - something that reminds me l'occitane L'eau de Bavx. I am amazed how nicely amber musk and patchouli are blended. 😏You don't feel any of them stand out - there is no cheesy vintage patchouli, no powdery musk and no sweet amber. What I feel is a scent that connect me with some kind of eternal masculinity - with my father and grandfather, with royals and dandies of the past. 😮 Bottle is made of very thick and quite heavy glass. I like it's unusual dynamic twist. At least something more creative then your typical squared bottle. I had received complements wearing this amazing scent and when some female friends ask what is it they are always like : "Lancôme makes fragrances for guy? I didn't know it". Then I always add : "They do but it is a quest to get it". Try online or in small perfumeries outside main chains. 😉

I was looking for "best cardamom fragrances" cause I adore its scent and this came up many times, so I added to the "to try', although having seen it was discontinued. then I found a 50 ml on an outlet perfumes page for a price that can be considered as a "steal". First of all: The bottle is so exquisite, now I understand why people rate it too. Before reviewing the scent, I must say that expectations are indeed the real cause of disappointment.(Or in other words, Cl"comparison is the thief of joy".)This is one of the drawbacks of being an enthusiast. One day we smell a fragrance and fall in love(maybe for the first time, unforgettable-mine was "Intoxicated" by Kilian in this case) and after that we try to find that feeling (not the scent actually), searching for those with the same or similar notes, and often, hopes are not met and we feel upset, yet we should not. So, I sprayed 2-3 sprays to my both moisturized arms and took a sniff. It was not a mind-blowing experience, hence it is stunning. The sought radiant cardamom is there and presents itself. Even it's not unpleasant at all, the only thing that bothers me is the lavender I wish it hadn't been there so that the scent would carry itself mainly on the cardamom and mint. Most of the other reviews are true, the scent is quite linear, doesn't play games. It's bold, it's serious, not youthful/juvenile, does its job very well. I don't know about projection, but longevity is not much, after 4 hours I can barely smell it. It's not a big deal, it's okay. And last thing about the discontinuity, I checked the batch code and it showed the production date was 2020. so I presume even if it was, it must have been later than that time. I am going to keep it in the fridge to mature and test again later in a different season and time.

My short review: This is a great fragrance. My more detailed review: First impressions of this fragrance were: Oh... This is an old man's cologne. It certainly is not, but, as a youngster, I had an older relative who had a liking for cardamom in scents. This made me think of him. The more I wear this scent, the more I appreciate it. Most of the individual notes can be detected in Hypnose, something I am not usually very good at! I have decided that I really, really enjoy lavender in perfumes. And I am now more appreciative of cardamom - not the old man smell I once thought! The mint freshens it up without making it smell like toothpaste or a polo mint. And finally the amber and patchouli leave a slightly sweet base that I can't stop sniffing! Longevity and projection are good, and I think Hypnose is best suited to nighttime wear. Overall, although you do not get a unique fragrance that will stand out, what you do get is a solid, charming fragrance suitable for date nights, nights out, etc. Plus, you can pick this up for a relatively low price, making Hypnose a solid purchase and the reason for my 'short review' above. EDIT: I have been wearing Hypnose for several months now and I have yet to come across anybody that dislikes it. Compliments aplenty! I have now checked out several of Maurice Roucel's fragrances and I must say I am a huge fan! This, however, particularly stands out... Well done, Maurice.

Spicy! You like mexicain food? Salsa? You will like hypnose :p The first thing that come in my mind when i think about that fragrance is spicy, but in a good way! Not safe for blind buy, IMO, because you need to be into that kind of scent to appreciate it. Again, i think it can be use as a night fragrance all year around, because it is not to strong for summer night, i would even said that it is lacking in longevity and projection...the spices bring a warm side to this fragrance, so mayble it is better on cold time like autum and winter. It last for about 3-4 hours on my skin, and have maximum arm lenght projection, and just in the first hour before fainting and guetting close to skin. I wouln t use this for casual or office, because of the spice that can be annoying for some...it is difficult to find, even on the internet, so if you like that kind of scent, you might want to get your hands on this! My score is: Smell: 7,5/10. Spicy, spicy, spicy ( did i tell it was spicy?). Good, but you need to be into this. Longevity: 3/5. Around 4 hour, lacking for clubbing IMO, but good for diner or other night out. Projection: 3/5. A little bit weak here too. Versatility: 3/5. Mainly for night out, the only exeption I see is clubbing, because it lack in longevity and projection... Overall: 16,5/25. Again, good for someone who is into that kind of scent, try it first, i wouln t blind buy.

This is one of those rarest of fragrances that I could truthfully describe as (almost) unspeakably beautiful. When I use this, I always spray on my wrist too: I just cant stop sniffing it. The scent pyramid and classification as an oriental fougere is accurate and fair: it all revolves around the cardamom/lavender/patchouli axis. The almond note is very interesting. But there seems so much more about Hypnôse: a depth that isn't immediately definable. For instance, I can sense notes of mossy tree bark and birch leaf - and they're not cited in the ingredients at all. There are no "challenging" phases or transformations. The projection is perfect. I don't agree with fumigating everyone at five feet and beyond. My only (very considered) criticism: longevity. It isn't bad. But if this facet was better, this scent would be peerless. Makes me consider how every day you don't wear a scent like this is a day your pleasure is lost forever. It is that exquisite. I deliberately wear it selectively hoping never to lose the elation reaching for it gives me - a risk that goes with overusing any fragrance. I could, were it possible, choose to wear this on my last day - to have this fragrance with me as I pass from this world to the next. A small comfort whilst in purgatory. Can one speak more highly of anything? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This has always been one of my favorites. Believe it or not, in my early 20's I wore this all the time. My dad loved it too and I purchased this for him before he passed away. Twice actually, after he went through an entire bottle (which was unheard of for him). This one will always hold a special place for me because of that, but I hadn't worn it again since he passed until recently. What can I say? It still smells amazing after years of sitting on the shelf untouched. There are many other scents that I'd place in the same scent category as this one, but none that I've smelled are quite like this, nor are they quite as strong (unobtrusively) or long lasting. Upon initial spray, you may be greeted by a "pencil shavings" note, however once it dries, you're left with a beautiful sweet amber and cardamom, supported quite nicely by the lavender and mint. Every time I smell this, it reminds me of being overworked in my early 20's, time spent with my dad before he passed, and an unusually mature "clubbing" scent choice that used to be my favorite. This one's hard for me to wear these days, but I definitely recommend it.

What to add after over 160 reviews, when just about everything has been analysed about this perfume. Well, I had my wife's nose and my second daughter's nose put to the test and independently, they give this perfume very high marks for a male perfume. Crisp, full, spicy and flowery, somewhat sweet, yet very exciting perfume. The spices combined with lavender and amber give it a very crisp tone. It evokes warmness and coziness, so use it with the ones where it is appropriate. I would not recommend it for a work/office environment. It is a good weekend scent with friends or family, or for an outing, also for a date. Longevity is great for about 8 hours. Sillage is pretty good in the beginning, but after about 1-2 hours, it keeps more to the skin. The perfume has a stand-out quality when compared to current "crowd pleasers". Several reviewers render it a bit dated, but I would disagree with that. Sometimes, you get a perfume that stands the test of time, and I would say that "Hypnose pour homme" is well on its way.

So after reading a couple of reviews and after being sold by "The frag guru" Marc on Youtube, I finally got my hands on this gem. I must say when I first tried it out on my wrist, I was major worried with its performance as am used to powerhouses but after a while I kind of got carried away by the scent itself... its amazing and for some strange reason I initially thought it smelled like tuned down Joop homme with a dash of fresh pencil shavings. Today is my first full wear and boy oh boy, Marc was soooooo right and am sooooo enjoying the cardamon in it, not only does it smell sophisticated in an expensive complex way but its just one of those fragrance that just linger on and on and on.... I must say its like the quiet Royce Rolls driving down a quiet country road, blending in with its surrounding... unlike having a loud Lamborghini tearing the country road apart. UPDATE: This frag reminds me so much of Carolina Herrera's CH Men without the leather.

ذكريات في قزازة عطر، كثير من الذكريات والقصص والروايات تربطني في هذا العطر.. أتذكر أول ما شريت العطر في بداية انتاجه ٢٠٠٧، شرت لي اياه أمي الله يطول بعمرها واعمار امهاتكم ويرحم من توفى منهم، كان حب من أول مرة ومن أول ما وضعت أنفي عليه، إلى اليوم هذا أكثر عطر شريته في حياتي، ما أبالغ لو قلت شريته ٢٥ مرة أو أكثر وعندي منه ثلاث حبات الآن.. العطر مرتبط فيني لدرجة أهلي كلهم واصحابي واقاربي يعرفون حبي لهذا العطر، أمر من مكان يعرفون اني مريت، واذا جاء احد بيهديني عطر، اهداني هذا العطر. العطر للآسف توقف انتاجه قبل سنتين أو ثلاث من لانكوم، وانقطع فترة من السوق، ولكن توفر في الفترة الماضية وشريته ثلاث حبات فقط لكي لا تضيع ذكرياتي بانتهاء انتاج العطر، هذا العطر سبب في حبي للعطور وأكثر عطر حبيته حب السنين، كل ما أشمه، يمر قدامي شريط ذكرياتي كلها. قد لا يكون مميز عند البعض وقد يراه البعض عادي ولا يستحق، خاصة انه او دو تواليت، وثباته واداءه ضعيف نسبياً للعطور الأخرى، لكن لشخص آخر هو ذكريات في قزازة عطر..

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this already. This is now one of my two go-to scents (out of more than 30 bottles) with the other being Pure Havane. Something about this and other amber based fragrances are so alluring and seductive to me, and I have decided amber is my favourite fragrance note, it does wonders on me. On my skin, this becomes wonderful throughout the whole time this is on. It is EASILY one of the best fragrances I have ever owned. Longevity is fab, I get anything from 7 hours up. Projection/Sillage is amazing, it can fill my whole room and people know I am around or know I was there/walk past them. Like I say, on my skin, amber based frags seems to do wonders, your mileage may vary, but it is at least worth a try in my eyes.

Masculine warm spicy cardamom + lavender. Puts me in the same mood as La Nuit, although Hypnose pushes out way more than LNDL projection wise. It's not the same subdued skin scent vibe that LNDL has going on, but the scent profiles themselves are similar. I really like it, it's very classy. I'm wearing it a lot at home just to enjoy it alone. I don't think I'll be wearing it much outside however, as it just about teeters along the line of being dated and a tiny bit old school. I personally don't mind the old school profile as it smells fantastic, but as someone who just turned 30 that's not the type of scent and idea I'd like to project of myself to strangers ... maybe in 10 years or so.

If you search the comments on this page, you'll see people have been saying this is discontinued since 2011. Unfortunately, I believe it's finally true as it's not on Lancôme's website in France or the US and their UK website actually says it was discontinued. It's a shame because this is fantastic and quite unique. The subtle mint really completes this fragrance. I don't think it smells dated and it has no resemblance to La Nuit de L'Homme. The cardamom comes across completely different in this. This is signature scent worthy and I'm surprised it isn't more popular given how good it smells. As an added bonus, it has arguably the best bottle design in all of fragrance.

2010-12 Batch - The projection and longetivity are truly impressive It's not similar to LNDL but it's also perfect for a great date and upcoming special occasion. Feels ideally balanced, unique and classy. It's not for everyone's nose for sure but if you have a good batch it's an unforgettable, signature, classy and gentlemen scent. It works well for any evening/night all year round because of good amount of mint in it which makes it also refreshing. The moment the wind blows - the magic happens guys. Rolls Royce of seductive scents 25ml left and now it's a liquid gold for me. Hidden gem and masterpiece by Maurice Roucel. Thank you

Mmmmmmm... Seductive & Oriental If I compare the opening stage with the dry down of this one, it's hard to believe that it's one and the same fragrance. I love the fresh opening with the bergamot and mandarine with a touch of mint. Soon the cardamom comes to the surface releasing it's aromatic, spicy aspects. As it dries down I would say there has to be vanilla/tonka, and/or benzoin in the basenotes, because it gets kinda warm and sweet on my skin. But since these are not part of the composition I assume that it's the almond and amber creating this aura on my skin. Sillage is soft but noticeable and longevity moderate. ♥♥♥♥♥

I voted like now changed to love. This is a gem "only if you wearing in winter and cold places". My country is tropical. While I was wearing this I couldn't find why peoples do like this that much. It is only mediocre scent with good longevity and projection. Not bad but no impressive and no compliment getter. Now I am in a cold place with 22 Celsius degree and sometimes less. After a few sprey, I found this one is a real gem. The scent is really different from before and really shined out. Gentleman and warmth personality is what you get from this one. Also better longevity and projection with compliment getter too.

I love it!! It starts out zesty with citrusses dominating the palette. Rather Generic opening but nevertheless refreshing and enjoyable. The drydown is where the magic begins. Here, the cardamom litterally spices things up. Not like spicebomb spicy but rather like a much much softer version. In this composition, every element fits perfectly and the way the cardamom/patchouli/amber notes play together is really a delight to smell! Overall, Hypnose is a very sexy scent, Ideal for the nightlife and if you're single. It is longlasting, at least enough to get you through the night, and projects nicely!!

It's openning with citrus-flavored and mint, cardamom is composing this. This is really noticeable in 20-25 minutes. After half an hour comes in lavender. It's very dominant. Who don't like lavender, not be fooled by the opening and don't buy this scent. =) Closing smells typical amber-patchouli mixture. Results: You can use this perfume on special occasions or formal situations. I would recommend you to wear with suits. Because this is, scent of a complete gentleman. The only bad side is monotonous leading of lavander. Scent:7/10 Longevity: 8/10

Smelled it first time in 2011 and that second knew i need to have it. Still have half of that bottle as it is an occasion fragrance for me. It is an undeniable chypre for men. For me, though it is not listed in the notes, its a beutiful white rose with lots of mint and bergamot. I think the rose effect for me comes from lavender and the mandarin. I know it is discontinued so when i will finish my bottle i will miss it very much. Excellent longevity on my skin. Moderate projection and silage After 7 hours still able to smell it from myself.

Had a bottle many moons ago, depleted it to the very last atom. Happened across a bottle on Rescented a couple weeks ago for a very reasonable price, and purchased it. The memories this flooded my brain with were worth it all by themselves. Plenty of long-winded (and far more creative and eloquently constructed than I could ever accomplish) reviews below this one, so I'll leave it by saying that in my own personal fragrance journey, Riverside Drive is the closest I've encountered. This is one that never should have been discontinued....

Light, delicate, decent, elegant, sweet but in a very different and ambery way and not like something you could eat. Performance is poor as projection is at an arms length for 1 hour and then stays close to the skin for about 6 hours. Would have been a winner for me if it performed better but it's good for work, office settings and only those who come close to you will get to smell this. The amber made it feel similar to Dior sauvage but that can also be because I tested the two together.

Lancome Hypnose is the reason i've started to collect fragrances because i didn't remember the brand or name and i'm not good at analyzing notes. I desperately wanted to find it over the past years. Today i smelled it on a stranger and i asked what he was wearing. An hour later i bought it for retail price because i was so happy i finally found it. To me this is very unique, in 2019 this smells niche, it smells manly, sexy, makes me feel confident and it's blended perfectly. to me 10/10.

A very unique scent. Has a medicinal note, like that note in Clinique happy, maybe both has something similar as both companies has cosmetics? Very neat, intoxicating, never cloying, not boring, smells expensive, has quality, it fresh, yet warm, Oriental but not very, that's why it's unique. Very linear, almost doesn't change from start to finish yet lovable, can be worn all year long. Very versatile. A unique and weird scent. I love I though.

Smooth, clean and spicy fresh. Perfect for a Spring / Summer's Day, and definitely one of my favourite 'off the beaten track' scents for men. You could but the White Lacoste bottle, but then you'd be doing yourself a disservice, because this is better in every way possible. I love the fresh opening accord, which stays strong long; backed by the lavender and amber (with light musk) upon dry-down. I'm a fan, and I want it.

i have the chance to test this last night, completely amaziiing !! sweet but nut very sweet like DHI,LIDGE or any gourmand fragrances, the dry down is the best what i smell ever it's take my mind !!! an amazing floral mixed with sweet smell maybe it a little bit feminin but the masculin touch is present and now it's my signature one i love also DHI but this...is The love ! 9.5/10 dont worry about a blind buy just go !

I got this when it first came out. Instantly fell in love with it. I got so many compliments on it back in the day. This is the only cologne I’ve ever repurchased multiple times in my life. There’s something about it that just stands out & makes it smell so unique from any other fragrance I’ve ever owned. This will go down as one of my all time favorites. Top 10 easy for me in this lifetime.

Picked up a full bottle for £13 off eBay. It's such a lovely scent and is a bit of an undiscovered gem. Ideal throughout the year, a lovely citrus, with a lavender and an amber/patchouli base that radiates and lasts for ages. If you see it for a good price (£30 - £35) grab a bottle because you wont be disappointed and people will be asking you what your wearing again and again..

This perfume is very beautiful. It is the kind of smell that comes out of the patterns, in the good sense of the word. A spicy-spicy aroma, sensual, elegant, ideal for evenings or romantic dates. It is not the kind of bombastic perfume, but rather soft and tasteful. There is no point in saying too much about glass, it is among the most beautiful in the designer-men category.

This has a niche like quality to it. I have been wearing it for years and it always gets compliments. A wonderful choice for spring/fall. It might be too subtle for harsh winters but perfect if your winters are fairly warm. The light spices blended perfectly with the amber giving it a gourmand feel but more on a discreet level. Good for office and women can wear it as well.

I was worried this was going to smell a little dated, but that's definitely not the case. It smells amazing. It's definitely at least as good, if not slightly better then La Nuit De L'homme, but at the same time even though both are cardamom based scents they are very different. This most definitely has better performance and sillage though. This is much classier as well.

First bought this perfume when I was 15-16 years old, always have one in stock. It's a very fine luxurious almost leather like fragrance. Not that typical patchouli warmth to it. Sillage is very pleasant, not too noticable for others unless nearby. Projection about 6-8 hours. Wish it was available in a bigger size, now 75ml is the largest.

Love it! Smell very good, lot of compliment while wearing it, but it seem to have a small longevity, since i am usualy unable to detect it after about 4 hours...also, i notice that mine is more yellow clear than the one in the picture...did they reformulated it or something or it is normal? Very spicy head note to me, but i like it :)

Before I discovered niche fragrances Hypnose was one of my faves. Sits great on my skin and I'd always get compliments. It is a sophisticated fragrance of high quality (or at least it was back in the day, I don't know if they have reformulated it) that I would think a niche brand would release. For me, it is unisex.

Smells like Le Male and Reflection man? Eh kind of You get the same vibe but not the same smell. Soft, warm, sweet, and spicy. Something about this keeps you smelling your hand over and over again. Usually when people say that a fragrance is underrated they aren't correct but man this is truly a hidden Gem

This one really lasts and exudes pure class. Girls love it too. If you want to smell different and like an individual who has put thought into their appearance, this is the go-to fragrance. The more "common" people will go to armani code. This hidden little gem is worth every dollar

Masculine???? This is more feminine , but in a good way! My sister bf had it and sprayed it and I was like oh my god what is that? I love this scent. And yes in a way it is like Givenchy Pie because it's almost unisex. Reminds me of sweet smokey cigars .

Hypnôse Homme is one of two fragrances that are top shelf for me. Instant gratification couched in spiciness. It's a delicious fragrance and gets positive remarks from a variety of people, male & female, young & younger whenever I where it.

imagine 1 Million Prive (wich i love) but with a 90's vibe. a little bit dated, but still beautiful, cozy, sensual, inviting. very low projection and sillage. lasts like 3-4 hrs on skin and 6-7 hrs on clothes. paid 30$ for 50ml.

It is a fragrance that you put aside on a shelf because EXTRAORDINARY! For special occasions because of its unique fragrance world! Long life is very appropriate! This perfume bewitched me, therefore I will definitely buy again!

This is a very nice fragrance. The opening screams mint and lavender and the dry down is very spicy. Perfect for the office since it is not offensive. The bottle is very nice but I wish it would come in a 3.4 oz. size.

My first sig scent..brilliant. Very rcommended for going out to dates or office It is the smell of the model on the posters .. Very slik and fit man scent .. Deep sweet and spicy ..atleast on my skin. Enjoy..marko.

This is a really well done fragrance for men from Lancome! I am surprised how much I like this, it projects well but has a nice dry down and stays close to the skin. It's masculine, but complex. Very good!

Hypnose for me is a very classy and seductive fragrance, that while reminding me a little of Dior Homme, is different enough to warrant owning both. A solid 'date night' type fragrance that women love.

This one is good for nighttime and not for a casual day time, at least for me. Longevity and sillage are very good even on a hot climate. Still this one is best suit to use indoor and not outdoor.

Gorgeous! Spice, ambery and aromatic. It lasts 5-6 hours with great projection. It stays much longer on skin. A decent 8/10 for me. Sadly discontinued so grab while is still widely available.

I love this stuff I just recieved the gift set in the mail, smells pretty amazing, it's sweet, it's minty, it's, peppery, nice stuff to bad it's discontinued, I hate when they do that.

One of the sweetest scents I've had since Happy for Men, with a fabulous sillage. I'm not too hypnotized about the bottle, though: it doesn't match the scent's sophistication.

Really nice, like a more milky, creamy, less sweet YSL La Nuit De L’Homme like a few others have noted. Think it’s different enough to have both though.
