Hypnôse

I am sad to find that Lancôme has discontinued this gem. :( Get your hands on a bottle while you still can.. I’d say this is a safe blind purchase if you love vanilla! Even though Hypnôse was created almost two decades ago, it’s still so modern and unique in its composition — yet nostalgic, because in the current era of cloyingly sweet gourmands, you can tell this one is from in another time. Nothing against contemporary gourmands, but Hypnôse just brings something different to the table. It’s a sweet vanilla fragrance, but neither cloying nor loud, and despite the dominant vanilla note, I wouldn’t actually even classify this as a gourmand. Hypnôse is definitely borderline delicious, but it has this dreamy, kind of ethereal, and cosmetic/powdery vibe, which I attribute to the addition of vetiver. Though not listed, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was also some white musk involved here. Despite being an „almost-gourmand“, Hypnôse isn’t a particularly warm scent, which I again find very refreshing among the current go-to designer compositions. The florals amplify the cosmetic feel (= further neutralize the gourmand aspect), while the passionflower, which you rarely find in other perfumes, gives off a subtle tropical/exotic vibe. There is also something happy and uplifting, maybe even innocent/angelic about it, which further differentiates it from contemporary gourmands that often seem to aim to be particularly sexy. Overall, this is so simple and sophisticated, one of my all-time favorite vanilla perfumes. Hypnôse is dreamy, airy, velvety, soft, feminine, ethereal, sweet, a little bit delicious, romantic, calm, and happy. I think the name and the beautiful bottle design are very fitting. It‘s also light and cool enough to be worn all year round, which I love! I would even say it thrives in warmer temperatures. Performance is great as well. All in all just beautifully done. (Lancôme, if you read this, bring it back pls) Edit in Spring 2023: It seems to be back in stock! Immediately purchased a bottle. If Lancôme lets me, I will always have this in my collection.

This fragrance is so beautiful! I can see this being a WEDDING 💍 fragrance, it’s soft, sweet, and powdery! The notes are blended so nicely. This perfume is sweet, but not gourmand or overpoweringly sweet. The powder is not overwhelming because it give a very nice touch of softness. Both the sweetness and powder mix well with the florals! It’s a teensy bit soapy but mainly very fresh/sweet. It makes me feel safe, womanly, and very COZY!!! ( ́ ▽ ` ).。o♡ It’s classy and elegant. I can see this being worn as an everyday fragrance (as a signature scent) but ALSO can be worn for ONLY special occasions. I think this perfume is versatile in that way, but the scent profile of this fragrance is unique! I don’t think I’ve smelt anything like this really.. I don’t think this is a great blind buy because of that! Although it is such a beautiful fragrance, it may not be for everyone. Sample this before buying a bigger size bottle so you can decide if this fragrance will only be for special occasions OR IF you really love and feel like this is you in a bottle then definitely get the biggest size (after getting your nose on this first). What would I DO wearing this perfume: Reading in a silky robe drinking champagne or wine (after a very nice bath), getting married, preparing dishes for guest to come over, eating fine dining. What would I WEAR with this perfume: WHITE ANYTHING (Sundress, wedding dress) white fairycore, classy-casual. Natural makeup or soft glam! Updoes, ponies, half up- half downs. Pearls and dainty jewelry. Wedges, small heels, classy sandals.

Around late 00s to 10s, hypnose signaled either elegance or mysteriousness of some sorts. It may had been niche still but it had a cult following. I think hypnose was one of those "it" perfumes - at least in some countries - because it presented a contrast to both your typical fruity, floral, sugar bomb and flashy y2k scents like celebrity perfumes and body mists and whatnot, but also to the dated grandma trends that are too heavily oriental or aldehydic and spicy. So hypnose became something "refreshing" as it wasn't loud and sugary and flashy nor it smelt odd or too much for the young individuals. I like the comments that mention gilmore girls and frazzled English woman memes like totally, I agree. But I was so annoyed with hypnose back then. To me it was bc everyone seemed to talk about it, especially girls who are like 10-15 yrs older than you are. And I was like, this is just the scent of a body lotion or something, what's the hype. Hypnose isn’t really in some sort of vintage category yet, it's not that old and it's not new anymore, and lancome is coming with more popular releases and I am positively surprised that you can still find hypnose and it isn’t discontinued, and I am planning to get a back up bottle too. For some reason despite how I didnt like it back then, now I'm into it, maybe it's cos of some sort of nostalgia? Not sure. Also bc it isnt so well known and talked about anymore I think. And I found out from chatgpt that hypnose smells differently depending on the temperature. The true hypnose vibe thats creamy and vanillic and only faintly floral - that comes out in colder weather. In summer you get more of its floral qualities which really is a stark contrast to how it smells in winter. It almost feels like a sdj body spray in the summer in my opinion, and to me it's unnecessary to use that during hot days.

Wow. Pure, total, complete love. I enjoy vanilla fragrances but find that some of them are too heavy, cloying and serious for day to day wear. Then I bought this, because it seems to retail for a very good price lately (are people bored of this?). And I found the most wearable vanilla, the vanilla I can take with me anywhere, on a fluffy sweater, on a leather jacket, in shorts on the beach, in the middle of the forest, flying to see my family, watching a movie with my boyfriend. But above all, what makes this scent a complete and utmost love for me is its evocative nature. It reminds me of my childhood, in a weird manner that I cannot necessarily pinpoint. It reminds me of Paxeladine cough syrup, of eating sweets in the park, of admiring a beautiful lady neighbor, of heartache and love. I am convinced it's the blend of sweet vanilla and passion flower that does this trick for me. Everything feels cold and slightly distant, just like some artificially sweetened cough syrup in a silver spoon, tasting like burnt crystallized sugar... but then there's the 'thing', some note that transports you into a safe, happy, warm and nostalgic place. Smells like a clean doctor's office, kindness and that little excitement in your tummy that you feel when you're thinking of what could be behind a closed 'do not enter' door. I think the name suits the fragrance - not 'hypnotic' as in 'mesmerizing', but more like infiltrating into some parts of my mind where cherished but not often visited memories live. It speaks to my heart. Performance is decent. Bought a 75mL bottle, and immediately bought a 50mL back-up, 'just in case'.

The mid 00s were an epic period for perfumery. Of course, "Hypnôse" is no exception. Some other favourites of mine include "Prada Amber", "The One" by D&G, "Armani Code". I know "La Vie Est Belle" is far more popular nowadays but I definitely prefer "Hypnôse". What makes it beautiful is not its outstanding composition but its simplicity. There may only be 5 notes but they come together to create a beautiful scent. The simplicity makes this fragrance quite versatile, I feel like it will work in any season as long the weather is not too hot. The opening of "Hypnôse" has a fruity, somewhat sour note which I believe is the passion flower. "Sour" may sound off-putting but I mean it in the nicest way possible. It reminds me of a fruit yoghurt which I quite like. The vetiver also appears to be intense in the first few minutes despite being a base note. The vanilla note is also the highlight of the fragrance. It stands out since it is not the usual warm, sweet vanilla, but a creamier, colder one. It is somewhat similar to ice cream or whipped cream. The drydown is softer but still retains some weight. Like other "Lancôme" fragrances, the performance is great. If you spray on your hair and shirt, it lasts about 12 hours. I keep getting whiffs of it for at least 7 hours with ease. It does not need to be refreshed. Last, but not least, the name and package are very attractive. The 75 ml bottle is quite tall and massive. I love the shade of the liquid.

I've got some seriously noisy neighbours living upstairs. Most evenings seem to descend into what can only be described as 'lively debates' between husband and wife, and tonight is no different. I am sitting in my son's bedroom, perusing Fragrantica, while an electric fan whirs like a helicopter next to his bed - my attempt to drown them out and allow him to sleep on in peace. In between browsing reviews and searching notes, I have been rehearsing speeches with which to admonish them tomorrow morning, which veer wildly between 'polite but firm' and the rantings of a madwoman. All of a sudden, I remembered my new sample of Hypnose, still in its envelope in the hall. I went and fetched it, spritzed a little on my wrist and inhaled. Instant calm. I'm not kidding. They should pump this stuff out in dentists' waiting rooms, exam halls - anywhere where people are likely to feel stressed out or anxious. This is a slightly cooler vanilla than I had expected, but all the better for it. It's deliciously creamy, but also lighter and fresher than I had expected - perhaps this is the vetiver. I don't think I've ever come across passion flower before, but if that's what I am smelling here, then colour me a passion flower convert. What a pretty, feminine delight! This is a meditation scent - it invokes a feeling of well-being and calm within me that I have not yet experienced perfume. Maybe I'll go and spray some in the upstairs hallway.....

Where has this perfume been all of my life?!? I'm super late to the Hypnose party but thrilled I finally showed up! Hypnose is not at all what I expected based on the reviews I've read.... I'm not getting cozy vibes nor ice princess vibes, and it doesn't strike me as a seasonal fragrance either. Hypnose seems to exist as its own thing for whomever chooses to wear it. My nose finds the opening to lean tropical floral. With that being said, I don't feel out-of-place wearing it mid-autumn here in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. It's not a summery tropical at all. I also understand how others describe the vanilla to be a "cold" vanilla. It's like getting a whiff of high-quality vanilla bean ice cream straight out of your deep freezer. It's not particularly sweet or syrupy (at least compared to gourmand fragrances I love), nor does it smell like straight-up vanilla extract. The vetiver lends a pleasant, earthy touch as well. Overall, Hypnose is stunning, beautiful and calming and anything but basic. As someone who works in marketing, Lancome knocked it out of the park with both the perfume name and bottle design. My only regret was buying a decant vs. going straight to a FB. That'll be next. :) ** Update 11/11 - My FB arrived today, and I know it's going to be among my favorites for a long time.

I don’t like this in the winter, I love it in the summer. In the winter is has an unwelcoming cool black licorice nuance. Not actually black licorice, but that’s the best I can think to describe it. In the summer the vanilla is much warmer and welcoming, it’s a bit powdery and the black licorice type of scent becomes soft, it lasts long and strong, it’s beautiful in the summer. This isn’t floral, not floral we are commonly familiar with at least like jasmine, it’s a unique vanilla. It’s not a gourmand vanilla, it’s like a vanilla you know you shouldn’t eat. Interestingly Passion flower, although parts are edible, other parts contain cyanide, in the leaves for example, to help protect the plant from being eaten. This isn’t a safe blind buy (unless you are a collector) or to buy someone as a gift without knowing specifically what they like. I think this is one you don’t want to overspray, I could see it becoming like bug spray strong if oversprayed, you don’t need a lot of it. I get scent fatigue with a lot of perfumes, where within maybe 20 minutes it can become hard for me to smell the perfume on myself, this one doesn’t do that, something about it doesn’t let my nose ignore it completely, which I appreciate, but that can also become sickening in the wrong setting.

When I was a teenager, I wore Hypnôse for two years straight. I remember how it turned heads—people would often stop me to ask what perfume I was wearing. Back then, it made me feel irresistibly mysterious. Then it disappeared from the shelves. Not long ago, I spotted it in an airport shop and bought it. The scent is still there, beautiful, yet... something feels different. Maybe the perfume has changed, or maybe I have. Either way, there’s now something in it that throws me off just a little. I still find it a beautiful fragrance, and it brings back wonderful memories. I hope I’ll learn to wear it again. For now, though, I find it difficult. Edit : This morning I decided to give it another chance (4 month later). Just two sprays—and my God... There it was: the scent of my adolescence, rediscovered. Absolutely beautiful. I don’t know what happened, but it feels as though the perfume has evolved, as if it needed time to breathe and unfold. It is magnificent. I applied it this morning, and now, close to 9 a.m., there is still a generous, enveloping aura around me. It feels precious—this is a precious fragrance. I feel wonderfully at ease wearing it. Needless to say, I will now be wearing it very often.

This review is for a vintage 2007 version EDP. On my skin, there is nothing fresh, woodsy, metallic, violet-ey, oriental or soapy about Hypnose. It is sweet, vanillic, slightly fruity/juicy, a bit lactonic, a bit tropical with a fairly strong grape bubblegum vibe to it. The drydown also has a slight boozy aroma. The opening reminds me a bit of Victoria Secret's Love Spell body mist (vintage edition early 2000). Longevity varies from person to person, from season to season. My 17-year-old juice is getting better and better with every use. Last time I used it, which was today, the sillage was great (more than 2 arms length for over an hour) and a longevity of around 12 hours. It smells richer, juicier and more "tropical", and the vanilla is superb. On clothes, it lasts longer but because my juice is vintage, it became dark brown so I need to be careful with not spraying it on light-colored clothing. Now it is quite expensive for my budget, around 85 euro for 75 ml. Thank God I got mine as a gift. I read that it has been reformulated but I have no idea how the new version/s smells like.

What a stunner! This is really beautiful - and unusual too. I agree with another reviewer's observation that the vanilla present in this smells cold and inedible. This is most definitely not a gourmand, and while this is very heavily vanilla based it is a cool, detached variant that is somehow more delicious that your standard sweet scent. The vetiver note elevates the white floral-vanilla combination, bringing a tiny touch of masculinity that beautifully compliments an otherwise overtly feminine scent. It smells mysterious, and has a sense of duality to it that makes it interesting. It has an innocent, almost cold sense of mystery that is intoxicating and inviting, but never overtly sensual or sultry. It has a 'look but don't touch' vibe to it that is very intriguing. I wish it projected further! It is long lasting but sits very close to the skin after about an hour. I typically like strong scents but this is so beautiful that I don't mind respraying. Overall - a winner. A definite repurchase.

This has always reminded me of a more expensive, more complex version of Coty Vanilla Fields, and I don't mean that in a bad way because I love Vanilla Fields, cheap though it is. First time I smelled Hypnose was right after it came out, in one of those Cosmo magazine fold outs and I knew I had to have it. I didn't have much to compare it to when I bought it back then but it lasted longer than anything else I had and it became my "date night" perfume. I was in my 20s then, 40s now and I feel like it is perfectly appropriate for both age groups (some fruity scents make me feel like a girl, not a woman). Now for the "but": while it smells lovely to me even now, the overall projection, longevity and sillage are lacking compared to my other Lancomes (La Nuit Tresor, Idole, La Vie Est Belle), not all the way gone in 3-4 hours but down to faint traces. Yes, my bottle is now aged but this was true when it was a brand new bottle too. Despite that, I would probably buy a new bottle if I needed to.

I never tried this perfume until today, and just had to have it. I bought an edp and it is sooo wonderful, the scent is sweet and intoxicating. Some flower I cant put my finger on, probably the passion flower which I’ve never smelled, and then this vanilla like cotton candy air, which I love so much. 😍 I will say, it sadly doesn’t last long, I just sprayed my wrist half an hour ago, and there’s only just the faintest hint of it. I also miss some musk, but will try and layer it. With musk it might ressemble Tresor musc diamant, which I LOVE and sadly is discontinued. Edit - so I tried it some more, and on clothes it stays on a little longer. And its not cotton candy, - it’s the smell of those pastel colored candy necklaces!!! Love it! Second edit - I now had it for over 6 months, and I love this scent so much! The perfume is very strong now, prob had to macerate. I overspray a bit in the morning, and it last me all day. 🤩 Such an easy reach and compliment getter.

I love to write about things I love (seems like I may have too many sentimentalities) but this to me is a sign of LIFE. This perfume- I can't even compare it to anything. Flowers? No, that's too simplistic. Fruit? Easily detectable. Spices? I'd scratch my nose. Ok, I think I got it now. I detect hints of gardenia and jasmine but somehow they get added to milk with vanilla with an undetectable amount of sugar. All of this is then warmed on the stove- simmer on medium and then low heat. It lasts until the clothing needs to be laundered. And I had a 1oz that I dropped and it broke and all hell broke loose. I was thinking obscenities while in church damning the layout of the floor (how ODD IS IT TO HAVE FALLEN ON METAL) that kept the carpet secured from the bathroom floor. Church. I really didn't hear a word because that explosion of scent permeated the entire 3 story house. AND I LOST MY LOVE.

It is a far relative of Wish by Chopard and thus of Angel by Mugler. It is very much a party scent. It opens with a bubble gum accord that is sweet and fresh at the same time. It is beautiful and mesmerizing. I feel a bit of gardenia without its challenging aspect, a beautiful vetiver-vanilla base and a shy jasmin in the heart and the fresh top it must be the passion flower. It is a very good match for winter, clubbing and dates. It is carefree yet spectacular and seductive. The only downfall the violet color changes into cognac shade without scent change, just the esthetic no longer suits the bottle. One of my favourites. I remember it a novelty and then I thought it synthetic, but now I feel the natural aspects of it. A scent one should know. I hope it is still produced, it is too good to be lost. I'm raising it to love, because of elegant, easily 10 hours of projection.

This is my absolute favorite fragrance on the planet. My sister worked as an exotic dancer and wore this throughout my childhood from 05-10. As soon as i could get my hands on a bottle, it too became my signature fragrance. The second it hits my nose, its so violently nostalgic i could cry. Lancôme hypnôse is the reason im so enthralled with fragrance and began me on my sweet gourmand perfume journey/obsession. Its such a beautiful unique fragrance that always garners me lots of compliments, I genuinely feel like a goddess when i wear this. The day Lancôme announces the discontinuation of hypnôse will truly be one of the worst days of my life. Since then ive hoarded and stocked up on 10 2.5oz bottles, and 10 other bottles ranging from 1-1.7oz (all EDP of course!). If you ever want to spoil yourself and TRULY INDULGE in a fragrance, treat yourself to a bottle of hypnôse.

I forgot how great this one was. I remember liking it back in the mid 2000s when it came out. I was a poor college kid on a budget. I wanted to get this one but ended up getting Provocative Woman instead simply because it cost less, which is much more spicy, less smooth and not as perfectly blended as this one. Even smelling it now again, 20 years later, I know this is a good one. There's something about it that reminds me of hypnotic poison, but hypnotic poison smells a lot like root beer to me since it's a gourmand and has all those added spices to it. This is just pure white florals on a lovely base of vanilla and vetiver.... which, I think I'm starting to realize, is a note combination that is an absolute must for me on winter/fall/going out fragrances.

I remember first buying this perfume when I was 19 along with the Lancôme Hypnôse mascara in a beautiful gift set for myself at a department store. I didn't know much about fragrances back then but fell in love with it immediately. It was the perfect soft floral vanilla. None of the super sweet fruity florals I couldn't stand or other strong fragrances popular during that time. I unfortunately didn't keep it in the bottle and left it outside on the bathroom counter under strong lights, so it went bad fairly quickly. I'd love a new bottle for nostalgia's sake and because it's still one of the most beautiful vanillas I've smelt without being cloyingly sweet or another boring generic dupe of a dupe. One of the classics and I hope it's never discontinued.

One of my all time favourites. For me this is a winter beauty. I feel Im tucked up safe and sound in a big soft vanilla marshmallow. I find it deeply comforting and calming and I feel beautiful too. One time I was wearing it to work and a male colleague was completely bowled over by it and said my god what are you wearing, it smells like a date rape aphrodisiac !! I was a bit shocked coz to me its a wholesome marshmallow but to some men obviously, its mega wattage sexy. I stopped wearing it to work from then on and Im mindful of its effect. Good to know for when I want it to feel alluring but you don't want that all the time. At least I dont but I do wear it for me and how it makes me feel. Soft, cozy, beautiful, safe and calm.

the opening is crazy good already, citral and passion flower and the vanilla are there like boom. its fresh but also deep, it is intoxicating me and maybe there the hypnose starts, sometimes it resembles a nice purol for the mouth lips but on a way more fresh way, its truly goosebump stuff. the sway it gives is beautiful, fresh vanilla in combination with white sweet flowers, the powdery a little bit to the background and perfect soft silky. I love it and its an addictive one, maybe not smell it on the skin, but enjoy the cloud around you the perfume gives, the vanilla comes way more to the foreground if doing so. round, clean, vanilla with a nice touch of powdery, Its a beautiful scent!

I just made a cake and put a Vanilla essence in it that left a residue on my fingers. Smelled them and immediately reminded me of Hypnose. I thought to myself - how in the world I have forgotten this beauty! So I went online and purchased a 2.5 oz. bottle. What I remember of it - it was absolutely stunning! Loud but not punchy, sweet vanilla delicately dipped in powder, recognizable in its uniqueness. UPDATE: What an absolute disappointment! The new one I’ve got from Lancome have nothing to do with the above description. I remember a sirupy sweetness and heaviness, the new reformulation is a weak joke! The dry-down reminiscence of cat pee. Sending it back. Lancome destroyed another one.

Hypnôse by Lancôme feels like a cool, silken veil against the skin—smooth, airy, and a little mysterious. The first spritz is a gentle swirl of passion flower and vanilla, sweet yet fresh, before a touch of vetiver adds that soft, earthy elegance. I first smelled it as a teenager and was instantly captivated; it felt grown-up, magnetic, and unlike anything else. It lasts all day on me with a smooth, enveloping trail that’s intimate yet noticeable. Every time I wear it, I feel feminine, alluring, and just a little untouchable, as if I’m moving through the world in my own luxurious rhythm. The only sad thing is that the lasting power is atrocious.

A swirl of powdery vanilla, passionflower and white florals - jasmine and gardenia. But that's not all, because the vetiver is there to elevate the composition, adding a warm, woody dimension to the fragrance. The result is a very distinctive scent, and I'm genuinely surprised that some people consider it "basic". Yes, it's sweet, but it's worlds apart from the kind of sweetness that dominates modern perfumery. There's a real delicacy here, and the composition is beautifully built around the passionflower. This is a fragrance that transcends both age and season; it feels timeless. In my opinion, one of Lancôme's last truly great perfumes...

It's like a vanilla dream come true, but with a freshness that keeps it from being too heavy or overwhelming. It's perfect for everyday wear, no matter what you're doing or where you're going. I just tried Hypnose and fell in love! But what I love most about this scent is that it takes me back to my childhood in the most unexpected way. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something about the mix of sweet vanilla and passion flower that takes me to a happy, warm and nostalgic place. It's like a little time machine in a bottle! I'm glad I got a big bottle of this, this will definitely be a staple in my perfume collection.

i'm so biased because this is my grandmother's signature fragrance and she gave me some as a gift—but even if it had no sentimental value for me i think i would still like it. it smells exactly like a honeysuckle bush in early summer. would pair so well with an heirloom fur coat. i agree that this is a "cold" scent, but it's still very wearable in warmer weather and during the day. i would say it's a suitable blind buy as well—rather inoffensive, can be worn to work. it leans very feminine. while i am nonbinary and present androgynously, i can see myself wearing this daily. it's just a matter of preference and comfort.

When I first smelled this perfume, I was in elementary school. Our neighbor's old daughter had sprayed it on my wrist, and that's how we first met. I can't forget that first moment I smelled it; a scent had never impacted me so profoundly in my life. I vowed to myself that I would buy it with my first adult money, and I did. I love using it; I think it has a very mysterious, feminine, elegant, and attractive scent. It's my favorite perfume, one I'll use forever. Every time I smell it, it brings back a sense of nostalgia and reminds me of that special first moment.

Passion fruit/flower smells waxy and has an interesting whiff of B.O. about it that works beautifully in Hypnôse next to the sweet vanilla and licorice-rooty, cold & sharp vetiver. White florals hold the middle without shouting. Reminds me of Vanilla Fields, Love Spell, and Lolita Lempicka. Not a warm vanilla, this one allures with an aloof gaze & the fragrant wisps of a brewing cauldron from a sexy witch's ice cave. The bottle is a stunner--Lancome housed their vintage masterpiece "Magie" in the same twisted flacon (albeit Baccarat!)

Agree with the reviewer mentioning the old coat. It has a waxy roseart crayon, old fruit smell. It smells cold from the flowers and sweet from the wood, which is opposite of what I'm used to in a perfume. Vanilla adds warmth but not sugar. This is intoxicating. I can't stop smelling myself. It would be a shame for Lancôme to discontinue this only to make room for more La Vie Est Blah (sorry 😂) flankers. Bewitching. Edit: love this, reminds me of Rochas Tocade, another all-time favorite. HUGE compliment-getter. I need another bottle.

Festive and party perfect. It likes winter, I am yet to wear it in summer. Floral vanilla with unique passion fruit aroma, with bubble gummy jasmine and vetiver in the base. It speaks of free time and clubbing. Lighter sister to Angel and Wish by Chopard. It had a sister in YSL's Manifesto, too. I feel it on myself and it projects a small bubble. It is one of the best and most distinctive perfums. Iconic. And it lasts very well. One of the best in terms of lasting power despite not having nuclear projection.

the perfume that started it all for me. 17 yo me tried this once and couldnt get it out of her head ever since. years i spent to try and enjoy the "trendy" perfumes but none of them just did it for me. finally gave in and purchased a full bottle of her and im still in love. this is an inoffensive, creamy-clean vanilla. very unique and signature scent worthy. i get nausea and sick of scents pretty easily. despite that, im okay with smelling like Hypnôse forever. i hope she never gets discontinued <3

This is such an elegant, whispery perfume. It has this ethereal, spectre like quality to it. I think the notes listed above don't really capture it. I find it to have a strong aniseed note, but it has this soft floral, woodiness about it that makes it so feminine and balanced. It's harder to find these days. I overheard a man pay over $200 for the last bottle of it at a chemist because his wife would "wear nothing else". I can definitely understand why it would be a signature scent. 10/10.

I discovered that a parfum version was once available by stumbling across it on Ebay, and snatched it up as fast as I could. Maybe I can rest now, and focus on crying about Poeme. Update: Pure Parfum is divine. If you love Hypnose and also get lucky to happen upon it, I highly recommend going for it! Note that it is very heavy on the vetiver (possibly due to age). I wore it today and my coworker (whom I dislike) said "What smells like a bathroom?" I'm assuming he meant me 😂

So unique, so beloved!🥰 My skin chemistry adores it! It's warm, smooth, soft, comforting, sophisticated, yet sensual, alluring and magical on my skin. I'm out of words. The people around me (and me) simply LOVE it! 💜🔮✨💖 I do not understand why some people perceive it as cold, since I feel its a very warm scent (almost warms my body). It was my signature for years. Why did they have to discontinue it? Why?! 😩 Update Jan 2023: It's actually back in stock! So happy! 🎊🎉🥳

:facepalm: - starting with this since it's the best emoji to describe my thoughts about constant mentions of PDM Valaya, just under every other perfume out there! This sweetie from 2000s has nothing to do with clean-musky scent called Valaya. Hypnose is REALLY SWEET. Sugary sweet , but nicely blended. Quite long lasting, with good projection. Sometimes it feels like some AI-tool is writing those reviews, because they are completely detached from the reality. Oh.

I’ve heard this described as a cold vanilla and I’d definitely have to agree. I grabbed a bottle when I heard it was being discontinued because I’d been wanting to try it. The bottle I have was made in 2013 surprisingly. I think the passion fruit in the opening is what makes this vanilla cold. Not your typical vanilla. I’m not quite sure how this could be disliked, it seems like it would be a crowd pleaser. It’s really nice and could easily be worn year round.

This perfume is crafted in the style of Lancome's Magie Noir, but for a generation familiar with gourmands. The floral top notes seem more neon, while the sweet, delicious base is reminiscent of an exquisite caramel dessert. There's something magical and captivating in the contrast between the top and bottom notes and the gradual transformation of one into the other. The flowers glow invitingly in a witchy forest, promising treasure hidden in sweet, red clay.

This is probably my favorite classic luxe brand perfume from the 90s. Granted, I am not hard to please. If it has vanilla that is detectable, I will at least don't mind it. Hypnose vanilla is The Vanilla among non-gourmands. Not overly sweet, somehow creamy. I have never smelled passion Flower (who has), but what the heck, I guess this is my favorite flower. It smells absolutely heavenly and not "parfumey" at all. So few notes, such a glorious fragrance.

Comforting coolness. Creamy scent. Reminds me of cold vanilla pouring custard with a touch of subdued fruity floral elegance to keep it from being a gourmand. Although not a warming vanilla this is very soothing and comforting. Perhaps the milky aspect gives this a nurturing vibe. Moreish. I did find that I needed to let this one sit. Staple scent. Perfect to nestle into, it will hold you tight. Hypnose hugs, supports and provides peace. 🪻🍮🍨😌💜🤍🧊☮️✌️

An all time favorite. Soothing, calming, comforting scent. Since its release, I’ve managed to always have a bottle. And I think I always will, even if I don’t reach for it as much as I used to when it was first released. Evokes nostalgic feelings and brings back a lot of memories of simpler days and simpler times. It’s calm and sweet yet not cloyingly so. It’s an all year rounder. It’s also versatile to be worn in all occasions. Day & night.

This is a perfume for a man-eating succubus, intoxicating and hypnotising, just like the name suggests. The opening scent is a very present passion flower and white florals drenched in a sickly-sweet vanilla syrup. I can sense the vetiver as well, it provides an airy, slightly woodsy base. I can pick up a bit of orchid as well, but it’s probably the passion flower I’m sensing. The longevity is great, but the projection is to die for.

I have no idea why I tested Hypnose as a strictly Winter scent for years. I'm on my third bottle and I thought I was tired of it. I love this pic me in Spring. It's not like Noa Noa, but it captivates me in the same enigmatic way. It's probably the way the passion flower, vetiver and vanilla play together. I love vanilla, but I enjoy the way my nose doesn't pick out the vanilla as obviously vanilla... Can't quite word it.

I love this one. I don't own or wear a lot of vanilla scents and I am not a gourmand type of person, but this one makes me feel like "me" when I wear it. This smells like "cold" vanilla to me, and the scent makes me think of the color pale blue or lavender. I love to wear this one in winter. It feels like sparkly snow, and even though it isn't a warm vanilla it makes me feel cozy when I wear it.

For me, the most feminine, magnetic, out of this world scent. Tons and tons of compliments every time. I dont't appreciate the vanilla this heavy, like many in the comments said. It's for my like a dry high end vanilla, luxurious, so, so, so far that smell cheap. Crispy passionflower that adds light and sexy woods below. Goddess sure smell like this, Superb.

Is this being discontinued!? Why would Lancome do such a thing? 😭 This is such a lovely perfume, unique, light, but at the same time mysterious and beautiful. An easy reach and total compliment getter. Hypnose is in the same league as NR Pure Musk, a total vibe and aura. 💜 I will buy every bottle I can get my hands on, I never want to be without this gem.

Hypnose...oh how I love thee! I purchased a mini of this, then a 10 ml sample , now I have big, beautiful full-size bottle. I think it's the passionflower and vanilla that really tug at my heart strings in this one. It is kind of a blue mood fragrance..a bit mysterious and thick. Soft but not subtle by any means. Longevity is seven plus hours for me.

beautiful, very feminine, signature scent worthy. smells similar to JPG la belle without the pear note and with added floral notes. a scent with a character, sexy but cozy, cant stop smelling myself. yes its an older perfume but somehow it doesnt smell dated...definitely more stunning and original than lancomés more recent creations.

I have tried many perfumes throughout the years, but I will always be coming back to this one!! My personal favorite. It's mostly a winter scent, but without it being too heavy, I also wear it on some summer night outs.. It has a mild powdery freshness that tones down the sweetness of the vanilla. A truly unique, classy scent.

This smells like a lighter version of Dior addict (2014) on me. I love it but have to keep respraying it. Silage and longevity are moderate at best for the first couple of hours, then its much more intimate. Beautiful perfume though in an exquisite bottle. The colour of the juice suits it too. I really love it.

For me this is one of the most beautiful perfumes of all time. It has a very comforting and appealing scent and I can't associate it with any other smells. It is also linear in my oppinion, but in a very good way. And once you smell it you can't firget it. It deserves to be in the Hall of Fame of perfumes!
