Idôle

This is my ultimate go to fragrance that is chic, refined, and undeniably classic. While it’s the definition of office safe, it’s far from boring; it possesses a soft, whimsical romanticism that makes it so very alluring. Wear it on a date, girl's night, school, work, at home.... like its just that lovely and versitile. It is the one staple I will never allow my collection to be without. The scent opens with a luminous, dew kissed rose, framed by a pear note that is both succulent and delicately powdery. A flicker of pink pepper adds a flirty, confident edge, while bergamot provides a bite. As it settles, it transforms into a lush, skin like musk complimented by gentle, sun warmed woods. Beautifully, that fresh rose never truly fades. I will say that in general you truly have to focus to pick apart the notes, the perfume is incredibly well blended... it takes a scent of its own. I wouldn't say this is a generic or cloying perfume at all; it is a timeless beauty with sparks of the confident, modern woman. Wearing this makes me feel instantly vibrant and poised. It might not be my loudest or most unique fragrance, but it is consistently my most complimented. I think it proves not every perfume needs to be overly complicated, loud, or overdone to be special and gorgeous.

This one doesn't deserve all the hate it gets! I get it, this might seem boring and unremarkable if you've smelled hundreds of different fragrances before and you're used to complexity and uniqueness, but we fragrance maniacs need to understand that not everything is about us. THIS is what an average woman wants from a perfume – it's fresh, pretty and sophisticated, perfect for everyday wear but also suitable for formal events. Very versatile. People make it seem like this scent is a disgrace to the fragrance industry, and it's just not true. Lancome has many powerful statement-perfumes, but not many everyday freshie-type frangrances like this. The only one I can think of is Miracle, which came out two decades ago. I think it's understandable that Lancome wanted to come out with an updated, more modern version of an everyday fresh-floral scent. Personally, I have always loved floral scents, but I have been on a sweet-gourmand kick for a while now. When I smelled this, I was instantly mesmerized. It just smelled like me. It reminded me that deep down I will forever and always be a floral girl, even though it is often considered the "boring" genre of perfumery. Also, it's a delight to finally find a really long-lasting floral – this lasts at least 8-10 hours on me!

I tried Idole in last February and didnt think much of it but after trying again now, I want to update my comment. It felt as if close to nothing to me in the cold weather, but around 25+ degrees temperature I think it becomes more potent. Rose, patchouli, musk, these became more noticeable. I sprayed it on my arm and even past 24 hours it's still there. Not talking about a monstrous presence or anything but it's just rosy and beautiful. I dont normally believe in fragrance seasons as a strict rule but maybe summer is the time where you can actually enjoy Idole. In the winter it's so icy and barely there. Also about the rose, which its expression can be quite diverse from sugary syrupy Turkish delight rose to powdery old make up rose and to almost metallic - bleeding feeling sharp rose. Idole is neither of them. It's fresh but not too green, not powdery at all, definitely not Turkish delight-y nor sharp and blood-like. Photorealistic and delicate. Definitely thinking of getting a 25 ml bottle for summer. Heat makes it so sensual and romantic without getting overtly heady. Clean feeling without laundry room vibes. Well done lancôme, well done.

Ideal spring/summery fragrance, basically my perfect mix of flowery/gourmand. I have had so many comments from other girls asking what that lovely smell was - it was me, because if you walk in a room, they will smell you. If you get in a car with someone, they will still smell you from an arm's distance, even if you only used the hairbrush you sprayed weeks ago (noted by my brother.) Because of this potency, I would use sparingly - don't even think about touching up (and with only the barest spray) for at least 5 hours. It sticks to fabric for a long time as well. The one person it seems to offend is my hyperosmiac mother, whom I still live with, so I still haven't finished the bottle I've had for years - but it keeps well. It still smells the same. The bottle is simple and elegant and lies flat; but I keep it in the box anyway to extend its shelf life. The shiny decorative strips on the side tend to fall off after a while, because plastic does not stick well to a glass bottle.

I just purchased a bottle of this after nursing 3 tester vials. It's fast becoming one of my favourite pear/rose scents. Alongside those two notes I also detect lily of the valley, jasmine, musk, bergamot and cedar. It's fancy. Rich lady in a rich suburb, or working class lady in an outer suburb fancy. Anyone can wear it, really. There's a synthetic note that I can't quite name that may be another way cedar manifests. It keeps the fragrance modern and interesting. Overapplying this can be harsh, as it's extremely strong and the projection is beastly. I absolutely adore this. It's the type of fragrance I smell somewhat frequently like Kayali Vanilla 28, Black Orchid, Coco Mademoiselle, Mon Paris & Delina. I'm just not sick of this yet. I may actually buy another 25mL bottle... I cannot imagine running out of this. Even when the style is out of fashion (shock, horror), I want to smell like this.

Idole is not something original, I’m aware of that. And yet, it has an addictive effect on me. Initially, I was testing this fragrance from 5ml decant and considered it very nice and feminine musky floral. I didn’t buy full bottle, though. But then.. days has passed and I felt like I’m missing something. It was that Idole smell I was craving for :) I ended with full bottle and a travel spray and I’m sure it will stay as a top choice in my collection ❤️ I really love it! It’s a modern, sparkling rose paired with fresh pear, on a musky base. It’s very elegant, versatile and feminine. I also noticed that it makes me feel more energetic and improves my mood and that’s always a huge plus for me :) Long story short - it’s a bit generic fragrance, but it won’t stop me from loving it. It’s beautiful, joyful and is indeed my Idol 🌹

I wore this perfume last night. Sunday morning and I can still smell it. Always a fav! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I first smelled this fragrance because my bestie was wearing it, and I couldn't help but ask her what perfume she was wearing! Months later she gifted it to me and it has been one of my favs ever since. The pear in the opening is very refreshing, the rose with the jasmine make this scent girly, sophisticated, fresh, and the vanilla in the dry down make this fragrance soft and a little bit musky, perfect to wear all year round, very long lasting as every single Lancome fragrance. If you don't like rose note, probably this is not your fragrance, but if you do, this is one of the most beautiful roses you can find. I love this fragrance as much as the rest of the Idole flankers, and I will buy them again and again!

Not a review, but I just rewatched advert for Idole and noticed important detail I missed the first time I saw it: at the very end when Zendaya is at the top of the hill and lifts her hand holding a bottle of Idole - we can see small sparkling lights in the background, I believe these are other women who also own the perfume and respond to her call. It gives a strong “girl power” vibe and I love it! Today I read a lot of reviews of this perfume and saw so much rude comments, saying it’s for “boring woman”, “with no personality” etc. It really saddens me. So I just want to raise that bottle here on fragrantica and ask you ladies to be kind in your reviews, let’s have a friendly, supportive and respectful community. I can, we will! :) Thank you!

It's nothing special or groundbreaking, it's not unique. BUT it's such a pretty, fresh, clean & feminine yet delicate perfume. It's a classic that will never go old I think. It's suitable for spring, summer and late summer/beginning of autumn. But it can get heavy and headache inducing of applying too much and too close to skin. Just spritz a little. Little goes a long way 🌹 one of the best rose perfumes. It's a great buy for your mother, wife/girlfriend. I think this perfume suits best for work and everyday. And even on a day-date when wearing a cute dress and sandals. It's not a perfume you wear with a sexy dress, high heels and on a night-date or party night. I think it's perfect for your first dage 😊🥰

Idole is a really pretty, feminine and classy fragrance. The rose and jasmine notes are huge in this perfume. I smell a hint of the pear and bergamot notes in the initial spray and they are soon followed by some rather intense florals. These floral notes are beautiful and they’re also done with a heavy hand. If you don’t like big floral notes, this perfume may not be for you. For me the dry down is the best part of this fragrance because it smells so peachy, musky, floral and sweet. It’s a very sophisticated and pretty aroma and mannnn, I’m really loving it. Idole is elegant and classy. She’s confident in who she is and those around her know that as well. Perfect for the spring and summer months.

I hate its top notes and when you just got a new bottle. Too screechy, musk heavy but not in a good way, and has a tad of bitterness. But once you let it macerate for a few months and it gets to the middle note, it smells pretty. It smells classic. Great for everyday and signature scent. You might not smell unique, but you will smell like someone with a classic, pretty, and elegant taste. Basic in a classy way. That said, I hate the nozzle and the juice. It leaves yellow marks on my clothes. Yet, when I spray it with some distance, it doesn’t produce airy mist. Too bad. Edit: Now that my sweet and gourmand era has passed, I actually miss its fresh, citrusy with a touch of bitterness’ opening

I was gifted this fragrance for Christmas in 2021, and it’s been a love from first sniff. In fact, I credit it with making me truly fall in love with perfume. This is a beautiful feminine scent—playful yet classy, delicate yet commanding. To me, it feels like a true masterpiece. I’ve worn it on date nights, to work, on nights out, and casual days out. It feels suitable for almost every occasion, and over the years I’ve received countless compliments on it, especially from men. The lasting power is outstanding. I can still smell it on my clothes 24–48 hours later, making it one of the most reliable fragrances in my collection. This will forever be a staple in my collection.

On my skin it’s very fresh and bright. The beginning is effervescent and fresh. My skin pulls more jasmine than rose. This isn’t jammy to me or lipsticky. There is a definite softness. Like a beautiful warm embrace. This feels like sunshine, ladylike and lovely. I wouldn’t call this sexy. For me, sexy is a little sweaty and dirty. But again, that is just for me. Unfortunately, I’m not getting any patch. On my skin, this a skin scent and has very little trail. I prefer to leave a gorgeous scent trail so I wish this had stronger silage. I don’t believe perfume has an age. IMHO, it depends on the woman (or man) and the feelings a scent evokes. This is an easy wear. ☀️

The entire Idole line by Lancome has impressed me. I have never been a rose fragrance lover until I got my nose on this line. They take the rose and transform her scent into poetry, balanced, smooth, soft and so well blended that the rose is the north star nestled into the milky way of other bright stars (complimenting notes) dancing in unison to create the most beautiful symphony of scent. I will be a Lancome Idole lifer, they will always be in my collection. Soft, romantic, sensual, feminine and gorgeous. LASTING and projecting is the most surprising gift with these. Quality is by far in a league of its own and affordable in my opinion.

Lancome Idole. I can't recall any other scent that I feel in love so deeply, that if I didn't have it in my collection it was haunting me on every occasion possible. I still remember the first time I smelled it from a little tester, beautiful, complex, so feminine, so romantic and fascinating scent. I wear it when my girly, feminine side wants to shine - on a date out, dinner with friends (wearing cute and girly clothes) or just on a regular days when I want to romanticise my mundane life. There's not many fragrances out there that I discovered, that evoke the same feelings as OG Idole.

On a cold and dark winter day I was sitting on the bus, scrolling on my phone, when suddenly I felt a rush of warmth and flowers when a woman sat down behind me. I asked her what she was wearing (first time doing this). She said it was Lancome Idole. I had to get a sample immediately, and I've never looked back. I'm very sensitive to generally feminine scents, especially if they have vanilla in the notes, because I find them suffocating. This, on the other hand lets me breathe. It makes me feel free, happy and beautiful.

Seeing the review below mine saying the longevity leaves a lot to be desired - was it reformulated? It's weaker now? Reminds me of Rock N Rose by Valentino mixed with Pleasures by Estee Lauder. Like both had their essence reduced and watered down, they were mixed and then amped up, creating a new scent. I love this but find it somehow somewhat generic of its time, though not to its detriment. I think it's strong and lasting. Wish I'd got another bottle if it's really been made weaker and less lasting! 😢

Mostly, I get the rose. I apply lightly, because some people find scents overpowering, but I find that this one doesn't overwhelm. I find that people either can't smell it at all or love it. It lasts a long time, so reapplication is never a thing. I like to layer it with other fragrances to suit the season, lily of the valley in spring, on its own in summer, with sandalwood in autumn, or clove in winter, but I find it to be a perennial classic fragrance that I can tailor to suit my mood.

don't get the hate. Everyone who I ask to smell it..loves it. I think a lot of people on here take the "art" of fragrance really seriously and thats why people are so critical but I love it. I think it's safe. yes....it smells similar to a lot of other frags but if you're here to just find a pretty sent then I don't think this will disappoint. projection.....awesome longevity....really awesome. sent almost gets stronger with time scent....8.5/10 unique....not really but it's pretty

effortlessly elegant. timeless. accurate advertising and bottle. one of the best done flowery perfumes i've ever smelled. to me, it seems like the most common challenge with flowery perfumes is the harmony, but the notes blend in beautifully with each other in idole. as soon as someone says "flowery" i recommend this and so far they all loved it. the only downside is that it's pretty popular, but it's still rare to come across compared to perfumes like miss dior, libre, opium etc.
