Iris Dragées

Iris Dragées is more of an almond scent on my skin rather than iris-scent. Fluffy, very pretty, its powdery but bright (due to pink pepper that I didn't recognise in blind test), not suffocating, Iris adds transparent veil to almonds. It has a bit of a tonka-touch as the almonds are dessert-like, marzipan-like. Quite a bit of fragrant clean muskiness. More Infusion d'amande than infusion d'iris that is much more sterile. I could imagine Iris Dragées being worn on a graduation celebration, it has this innocence and a make-up touch in the dry-down. Its feminine and very pretty. But fit also for the wedding, posh reception in the manor, even Ascot... I can imagine the ladies wearing a hat or at least a fascinator. The colour and design of the bottle represents the scent perfectly. In the blind test I got the neroli/orange blossom touch that adds brightness, and feel of dusting sugar. But I didn't recognise freesia, now when reading the notes, I can certainly smell freesia, its in unusual powdery situation here. As it develops, orris is there, but not very creamy. Vanilla is a bit rum-like, like a cooking essence. Dry-down is a bit amber-like and much more amped-up powder and blond woods. A bit like almondy cooking dough. I'm just sampling with dabber, but this scent needs to be experienced in a generous mist from a full bottle. Otherwise its a bit too gentle, but probably has a fair stamina when spritzed from the bottle. Very very pretty one.. even though not my own taste. p.s. I compared with Velvet Tonka by BDK side my side on skin, and although similar, VT on thicker, not as bright and powdery, also has more bitter almond note. Iris Dragees gives off the innocent prettiness, VT is more mysterious, soapier and heavier. Yep, the vibes are different.

I fell into the 'Iris Dragées' hype thanks to 'Smelling Great Fragrance Reviews' on YouTube...and I'm not sorry. So far my nose is impressed. This is 100% an iris perfume but without being vintage/mature or veering into the expensive make-up powder category (like the 'Insolence' line from Guerlain). Also this is surprisingly fresh! It smells gourmand in the nozzle, but isn't on the skin. 'Iris Dragées' is an airy, powdery, softly-sweet iris with a refreshing touch. The opening on my skin is surprisingly citrusy. The bergamot is strong...however it's quickly followed by the powdery iris. Over a course of 30 minutes, the scent becomes sweeter but not in a super-syrupy or honeyed way. If you've ever smelled those white/pastel sugar-covered almonds this is EXACTLY what the dry down smells like (supported by the orris butter). This is my 2nd time categorising an iris-oriented fragrance as youthful, fresh with feminine innocence (1st was my beloved 'Infusion d'Iris L'Eau d'Iris' by Prada). Reminds me of a ballerina! This gave me a huge-throwback to 'Petits et Mamans' by Bvlgari (one of the first perfumes I tried in my life), and I was surprised to learn that both have the same perfumer. If you're a fan of iris, definitely check this one out. It's not terribly original, however I can't deny how elegant & uplifting 'Iris Dragées' is. Currently my 3rd favourite from the Maison Lancome line that I will enjoy all spring & early summer days... Edit: This is my favourite iris-oriented perfume right now. IT IS PERFECT FOR OFFICE ENVIRONMENT!!!!

I am utterly in love with Iris Dragées 💗🤍💗🤍 I blind bought it (was lucky to find one of the last bottles for sale, as it’s been discontinued for some time) because I’ve heard comparisons to Guerlain’s Iris Ganache. That is my unicorn fragrance and can now only be found for unthinkable prices on eBay... so when I managed to find a bottle of Iris Dragées I just went for it. I was ready to be disappointed with my impulsive nearly €200 purchase. Oh my, was I happily surprised... Iris Dragées smells exactly how I imagined Iris Ganache might smell like. I’ve never actually sampled it and some people who own both perfumes tell me they’re not that similar except for the fact that they’re both iris gourmands. But I don’t care because this is what I can get my hands on and I couldn’t be happier with this addictive scent. Iris is my favorite note, I own many of those powdery makeup-y vintage-y perfumes. But the addition of the powdery-sweet-almond-pastry notes is so incredibly delicious. I agree with the people who comment that it’s not overly gourmand, because I generally don’t like gourmands too much yet I love this. It’s quite sweet for my personal taste, but you’re not walking around smelling like an actual dessert. It’s just powdery and wonderful. It’s not a monster fragrance but watch out do not overspray, I’ve made that mistake myself. I’d rather carry a decant in my purse and apply a couple sprays more when I need a refresh. It’s such a pity that it’s discontinued, but I shall enjoy my 100ml with abandon while it lasts.

I got this perfume ( blind purchase )last month on boxing day with a 20 % OFF . This one was in my wishlist for a while because I absolutely love ALMOND and IRIS. This scent is beautiful but very faint. It's sweet and almondy and a bit iris but not much to my nose. It's a very cozy and comforting scent. It's very close to the skin with no sillage. I was hoping, for the price tag and such an exclusive line that the perfume had more intensity. Don't get me wrong, the smell is beautiful but I am wearing it for bedtime and this was a bit expensive for that! I also wear ROGER & GALLET Amande Persane and REMINISCENCE Les Notes Gourmandes- Heliotrope which has the same almondy/cozy vibe of IRIS DRAGÉES but for 1/3 of the price. It's gourmand but not sickly sweet and it's really soft and a bit powdery. I really think I should have sampled this one instead before jumping by an impulse to it... I don't regret buying it because I am a collector I am a sucker for beautiful bottles and this one is GORGEOUS :) This one is my second Maison Lancôme Fragrance and my first one and beloved was OUD BOUQUET ( first edition ) which is absolutely stunning and a MASTERPIECE with enormous sillage and longevity. I would like to sample more fragrances of this line. Any recommendations for another LOUD and exquisite one? *It smells similar to ELIE SAAB - The Girl of Now and also DIOR- Poison Girl but softer in intensity.

There’s just something about a good iris perfume! This beautiful fragrance is so classic, elegant, feminine and sophisticated. I risked a blind buy because A. I love iris B. I love the thrill of a blind buy C. The travel size bottles are an affordable collection option that makes blind buying a bit less financially risky (Seriously, why isn’t EVERY fragrance offered in a travel size?? Imagine our collections if that were the case!! Or safer don’t, that’s a dangerous road!) I love this presentation of iris - it really does marry a traditional powder/ lipstick scent with a complimentary gourmand component. I don’t generally like gourmands- but this is just enough. Imagine a less crass Black Opium married to Prada Infusion d’iris then given the Guerlain warm, soft focus with just a touch of Chanel polish. This fragrance is definitely on the feminine spectrum, but other than that is extremely versatile- I can’t imagine an occasion or season when this wouldn’t be of impeccable good taste. I have bought three other travel sizes from this line, even though I traditionally haven’t enjoyed Lancôme fragrances in the past. If I enjoy the rest half as much as I do Iris Dragées, I may have to re-evaluate my judgment of this house. For both iris and gourmand lovers, add to the cart, this one’s a safe blind buy!

I debated for months about whether to get this fragrance and I am so glad that I did - especially now that it is being discontinued. I expected a sweet, marzipan almond take on iris. However, this smells like a bright, bergamot infused take on iris and white flowers. It is very long lasting and has moderate projection. To my nose, it is not syrupy sweet. There is a freshness to this scent that makes it appropriate for the office or as a signature scent. I think it would work well in all seasons. Iris is one of my favorite notes in perfumery as I love its ability to straddle the line between vintage/classic and modernity. There is a buttery paper-like note in the dry down that has me sniffing my wrist over and over again. As another reviewer before me mentioned, Iris Dragee smells like the younger, more exuberant sister of Athalia by Parfums de Marly. While Athalia is a quiet, mature, sophisticated lady with a closet full of black/navy/gray, Iris Dragee is playful, modern, and dresses in white. More comparisons: This is a sweeter, brighter, creamier version of Infusion d'iris. To my nose, it is slightly less powdery too.

I can’t say anything bad about this baby. I just can’t. Apparently I’ve always loved the scent of iris in perfumes I just didn’t know what it was called haha; until I smelt IRIS dragées and realized ‘hmmm what i’m smelling so distinctly must be IRIS then I must love IRIS, how brilliant! Oh and then the almond...mmmmmm my goodness...my two loves in one place! could life get any better? @get the twist - you might want to try Roses Berberanza since you want something loud or Roses Parfait. I personally prefer the latter because it’s not as loud or sharp as the Berberanza but overall to me, they’re both louder than iris dragées Edit: currently enjoying a sample of this I received from a generous fragrantican and I’m in love! This lasts daysss on my clothes, I’m talking 3 days and over if you really sniff. It doesn’t have a powerful sillage to fill a room but like someone said earlier, it floats around you like a cloud leaving a soft, beautiful trail behind for anyone close enough to enjoy. Why are all the old, discounted Maison Lancôme perfumes so beautiful and why haven't I tried all of them in time, when they were readily available? Iris Dragées smells just like the name suggests. Wedding almonds with a big dusting of iris powder and a touch of a fluffy lemon dessert. Cooler and cleaner than the usual gourmands, more edible and inviting than your average powdery iris. I also find this a little musky, somewhere between freshly showered feminine skin and nostalgic vanillic dollskin. Maybe it's just me, but I can detect a hint of an aniseed note, as if a touch of spice was hidden in the candied almond dragee. This is cozy and soothing, but not warm and smothering. It would be a good choice for autumn, winter, spring and even cooler summer days, I find it quite versatile. I don't think that this is that close to L'Instant Magic. Roughly in the same ballpark, sure, but L'IM reminds me a lot of Hipp baby lotion and Iris Dragées has nothing baby-ish about it at all.

Not just Iris Dragees but this powdery-violet-iris-sandalwood-musk theme on perfumery is surely one of the classier ones. For anyone already seeking alternatives, suggest you check Massimo Dutti - Souffle Marais, if you don’t get fooled by branding and marketing gimmicks then you might be very satisfied. I’m only talking with what I smell and ingredients I could pick & study on both. Souffle Marais is as good as Iris Dragees, if not better at a 1/3 of the price. I would even go as far as suggesting to check Armani He/Lui and She/Lei both...To me those are the pioneers of this same theme since 90’s, and Souffle Marais smells hell a lot closer to those 90’s formulations. Prada - Candy for sure (more benzoin), Guerlain - L’Instant Magic, Chanel - Jersey (with added lavender on top) and Infusion d’Iris and d'Amande (most iris-accurate of the bunch) are other scents in the same vein to check.

This is a very beautiful, refined, light fragrance. It makes me think of a very fine milled, creamy almond soap. I smell the almond right away and it's a light almond paste scent that reminds me of baking Italian Christmas cookies! But it's VERY light and I don't find it too gourmand at all. Then I smell the iris and it's earthy and sometimes chalky and fresh. These warm and cool feelings play a balancing act throughout the life of the perfume which is long, but so soft. Very wearable in any situation, it's calm and clean. Heat amplifies it somewhat, but I find myself burying my nose in my arm to find it usually. It's quite expensive, and I'm almost through my sample because I'm overspraying trying to smell it! I really want a full bottle, but at half the price because of the low sillage.

This is a true gentle and understated quiet beauty!! I am head over heels for this one by Maison Lancôme! Why oh why do all the good ones get discontinued??? I was lucky enough to snag Iris Dragées, Jasmins Marzipane, Parfait de Rôses, Rôses Berberanza, Lavandes Trianon and Oud Bouquet before they completely vanish forever!! Shame Lancôme, shame 😓 Back to Iris Dragées, this is very very classy, quiet but oh so beautiful, grown up and yet demure, perfect for any occasion, just perfect. Of course, you have to like Iris, florals and almonds. This is on the sweet side but not overly so, just the perfect amount to make this concoction balanced and very classy. I cannot believe it is now disappearing from the market. Sad 😔

Just received a new 100 ml bottle direct from Lancome, but it is on sale currently everywhere in UK. I have had a sample for about a year and finally decided I needed the full bottle for the Fall. Such a cozy scent, perfectly balanced almond and iris, not too sweet, with just the right powdery touch that will be lovely with a warm sweater(jumper) on a cool Fall day. A work-appropriate fragrance for any of you heading back to the workplace. Also, the bottle was a surprise. Of course, it is beautiful and high quality, but I had always been a bit disappointed that this Maison Lancome fragrance bottle had a white cap, but mine came with a gold cap. A mistake? or a welcome change?

Such a pretty and addictive scent. You are admittedly aware of the iris closely followed by the orris butter. Yes, it is sweet and gourmand. A bit girly but very moreish. I think the fresh, intense neroli and peppery freesia stop it tipping over into sickly sweet. It smells expensive. I wish the iris remained at the fore much longer but that is the nature of the note I guess. I think the name suits it perfectly. It makes me feel like I'm almost edible when I wear this. Sweet and delish I get reasonable longevity and the sillage is average but in a warm environment the sillage really extends. A very delicious scent and hopefully I will acquire a bottle in the future.

I will be forever grateful to a sweet french lady who sold me a sealed bottle on ebay for a great great price a couple years ago. No way would I pay the current prices in the resale market, it is so obnoxiously priced. However, I found that House of Sillage's Wonder Woman offers a very similar vibe, which is a powdered sugar iris. Now the latter has a raspberry note that gives a tart fruitiness, but like I said, same vibe. People hate on House of Sillage, but they do have some gems, and their bottles are very substantial (may not be everyone's taste), like you can feel that it makes up a big chunk of their cost.

I do love this. I snagged a back order on Neimans site back in early Sept. But...............Iso Super E. Not as bad as in BDK's Velvet Tonka (that one takes my breath) but it's present enough. I let it settle and it kind of hides in the powder, iris, almond floral now, so I can appreciate the beauty of this frag. Very feminine, but not boring in the least. It won't be in the rotation a lot, but it's definitely staying. Now if I could just get Parfait de Roses. I had a chance at Jasmins Marzipane but I let it slip through my fingers, sigh.

The perfect fragrance for a bride! Magical and so beautiful to my nose! I love iris and in this fragrance, the iris note is like a light purple cloud with a hint of powder and sugar, it is ethereal in a most perfect way with subtle whiffs of citrus at the top. Pure bliss! Longevity is decent on my skin, 6-7 hours and it stays longer on clothes. I love the dry down, it is musky and fluffy with a powdery touch and still lightly sugared with the iris note still going strong. An absolute delight I highly recommend this for a bride!☁️✨🧁🤍💜✨

Iris dragees should have been the star of the Lancome private line. Instead, her louder, more assertive sisters have received all the attention. I have oud bouquet, and while I love it, there is something about Iris dragees that is timeless, elegant, and signature scent worthy. Recently, a friend of mine sprayed this fragrance before a night out and I fell absolutely in love with the wafts of vanillic-almondy-iris cloud that enveloped her. This fragrance is so understated and beautiful. I have never found its equivalent.

This perfume is absolutely magnificent. I truly don’t understand why they stopped making it. It’s delicious, sensual... and sadly, I’m reaching the end of my bottle. All my friends have been captivated by it and are now searching desperately for a bottle of their own. I’m also trying to replace mine by any means possible. If you have one, please contact me. It’s worth every penny. And to those comparing it to Dior Homme Intense, there’s no comparison. Lancôme's creation is infinitely more magical.

Very pleasant and wearable powdery iris/almond, fairly linear after the scent has bloomed. This coped well with the current very hot weather, it's great for the office or those occasions where you just want to be feminine and wear a nice dress. Perfect for summer evenings too. The melancholy of iris, is nicely balanced by a smooth, comforting blanket of almond, the whole being (slightly) sweet, pretty and yet substantial enough to last several hours. Me likey :) x

I was lucky to find this after it was discontinued, which is a real shame. It’s a gorgeous fragrance, soft and sweet, yet airy and almost ethereal. It has a lightness that makes it feel effortless to wear, without ever becoming too much. I can wear it anytime, anywhere, and always enjoy it. There’s nothing in the composition that bothers me, it just works beautifully from start to finish. Easily in my top five, even with a large collection.
