La Vie est Belle L'Elixir Very Cherry

This is pretty! I get some leather notes. It does smell like a tart mug of hot cherry tea i agree with the reviewer below. I think this would really work for cold days, its a winter scent to me. I absolutely love the LVEB Elixir with the rasberry and leather notes. This smells similar but I prefer raspberry so for me this is maybe 2nd in line. the cherry is a sweet berryish note thats not harsh, its easy to wear and I don't really like most cherrries. The oud is not strong it is more like a black tea brewing or incense. Im hoping for some magic vanilla to emerge in the dry down but it seems to need a sweeter note. I also get pipe tabacco smoke for some reason which im not mad about it.

Ok all *cracks knuckles*. Just tested this at Macy's. Three sprays on the tester card, one on my wrist. Overall I think that LVEB fans might like this flanker a bit better than L'Elixir and it is worth the sniff...but I'm not sure if it's enough of a difference to appeal to either the pro L'Elixir camp or the anti-L'Elixir camp. My first thought when I sprayed this flanker was, "wow this smells a LOT like the other L'Elixir." It opens with a whole lot of cherry that initially leans mildly towards feeling synthetic, but not in an unappealing way. You start to notice the differences in the drydown. This one projects slightly less than L'Elixir, but not by a very noticeable amount. I would catch whiffs of the fragrance on my wrist while out shopping. It's less linear than L'Elixir, with a definite scent journey. I can catch a hint of the original LVEB here and there in the mid stages. The oud leans a bit animalic at times during mid drydown, but just barely. Later stage drydown is a very nice balance between the cherry and the oud; the cherry note does have some lasting power. I really enjoy catching whiffs of this; it seems like a really well crafted flanker. The oud ultimately dries down to a very mass-appealing oud. Ultimately, I like this! But I just bought a full bottle of L'Elixir (I really love the interplay of raspberry and cacao) and I prefer that version of LVEB a bit more. Additionally this flanker is too similar to L'Elixir to justify the purchase. But ultimately I think this is a very appealing flanker that is better balanced than L'Elixir and will appeal to discerning noses.

The cherry is quite strong in the opening. It's far from a candy cherry, and it's certainly not the fresh kind. It's a bold, dark red cherry. Over the last few years, cherry notes have improved greatly in perfumes. This one is actually convincing. It has a juiciness to it that is very appealing. However, the cherry does lean a bit medicinal for the first 15 minutes. It's definitely a fall perfume. This is the first LVEB flanker that I enjoy. That is because it is devoid of the LVEB DNA. It doesn't have any feminine sugariness to it like the original does. There's nothing floral in this either. You just get that black cherry and then it melds into the base of the perfume. However...the base doesn't read like oud to me. It's a very sterilized, clean Western oud that smells more like a wispy smoke note. Very light and easy to wear. It might actually be the violet leaf that I'm picking up, a la Fahrenheit. If you're a LVEB fan, I'm not sure if you'll enjoy this one as a blind buy. The performance could be better. It's a bit sheer. It wears 5 hours on skin with 3 sprays. I do find that the cherry is unique in this, even compared with recent designer cherry perfumes. It's different from Lost Cherry, Coach Cherry, Kayali Burning Cherry, I Want Choo Forever, etc. It falls in the smoky cherry category. It didn't quite "wow" me. I think it could've gone heavier on the oud or incorporated some tonka or florals for complexity. (I tested it at Macy's. It came in recently)

I got my hands on this new release today and I am testing it on my skin. The scent is familiar! It is very close to the new D&G Q Elixir which is more purring with softness and warmth. Indeed not that far from Sweet by Lempicka! Which I might prefer. I expected a deeper fragrance from this intense hue of the bottle - a cherry coke at least. But this is a cute cherry about the strength of Vanilla Nude. The violet leaf softens the fruit and I feel no oud whatsoever. The bottle color is lost on it. Seems perfect for spring and summer, just in time for the fruit crops. And it is too innocent for the evening. Lasts decently with gentle projection. A pity it is not deeper. Very girly release.

Overpowering, very strong and sickly sweet cherry on first spritz that almost put me off of it (friend who shared the experience said it "rearranged her olfactory nerves" with how strong it was), but quickly settles down into a fairly intimate and more complex scent. It's still cherry forward, but with strong woody undertones that temper the sweetness of the cherry and make it much more sensual and mature. Didn't pick up on a ton of the florals, but they're definitely there. Not my favorite scent tbh and definitely overpriced for how basic it is, but pretty good overall.

I have been smelling the sample just an arms length away and it is quite lovely. The oud is very interesting and contrasts so nicely with the sweet opening. I’m really enjoying this one. The woody base is quite calming. I don’t care for the original l’elixir as it felt cloyingly sweet. The tart cherry brightens it up for me and the dry down dries it up just enough to enjoy. We will see how it goes as I wear it more.

To me this smells of parma violet sweets. The sweet cherry just blends into the violet to give the parma violet sweetie blend. I don't really get any woodiness until right at the very end. Sprayed lightly it's really very pleasant. I've never got on with any of the LVEB line, and I doubt I would get a full bottle of this, but I do like it and will enjoy using up my sample.

i like this so far. the cherry is mouthwatering good. it’s a juicy cherry with a dry oudiness. the oud isnt smelling bad on me. oud or burning smells are amplified on me sometimes and it smells harsh, but not in this fragrance. it’s nice. i’ll be wearing it in fall for colder nights and winter day or night. i do feel like it’s a night scent. it’s nice.

This may be one of the best La Vie flankers that have came out. It is cherry-heavy, with a makeup powder background. It does smell a lot more "sexier" and mature than some of the others, but it can be very cloying. I would suggest this for the cold weather, for sure. The oud is moderate.

This is okay but it doesn’t smell much different from LVEB elixer. That’s my favorite perfume and this cherry is not different enough for me to want it and it didn’t last as long as the normal elixer does

So similar to the original L'Elixir flanker, but with a more prominent cherry instead of raspberry. Honestly the two are so similar that it's redundant to own both.

👉 By no means is this a safe blind buy!! With this you definitely get a burst of tart cherry with the initial spray. But there is something I find off putting. I imagine it is the cocoa butter or the oud note. Who knows, could be all the notes together. In any event, to me, it smells like clay. Not necessarily play-doh but more like modeling clay. After a couple of hours the clay scent subsided and the tart cherry came to the front loud and proud! I am still not sold on this but this does have longevity even with just a few sprays!

First it reminded me of LVEB Elixir a lot (perfume that I don’t like) but after about 20 min it changed and became nicer. I like it more than Elixir for sure but didn’t love it. The disappointment was when I got home after 1.5 hours and I couldn’t smell anything anymore. So definitely not a long lasting perfume. The bottle is stunning!

I got this as a sample from Sephora and all I have to say is "Eeee-YUCK"! I can't even be classy and say this is a "deep, dark cherry" - NOPE this is straight medicinal, it smells like if you dropped cold + flu cough syrup all over and walked out the door. And I don't even mind a cherry fragrance, I love: Lost Cherry, Ambery Cherry, Electric cherry, and I tolerate Burberry Her Parfum even though it's not for me. Lancôme need's their butt whooped for this monstrosity. BUT I will say it's strong I used my sample of it and tried to fix the mess with KAYALI 'Wedding Silk Santal' and all I could smell was 'L'Elixir Very Cherry'. Please don't wear this in my with in my proximity because depending on my mood...I WILL have to throw hands!

This sounds absolutely horrible. Who wanted this?? Why does the cherry trend continue to haunt us all we don’t want or need any more fuckin cherry 😩 every other trend dies down after a while why not this one 😩

Horrible. Very few fragrance have made me gag in revulsion. That is exactly what this scent caused. This was just awful. Immediate return.

The notes don't even sound anything like LVEB. This shouldnt be called a flanker but a whole new parfum. This Is just LAZY, Lancome!!!

Unfortunately, fragrantica missed two of the base notes: cocoa butter and Madagascar vanilla! It’s a little overwhelming to my nose but my husband is insistent on me getting it, he keeps sniffing my hand and moaning... I had to force him to hand the bottle back to the girl at Macy’s... he’ll probably go back to get it for me when I’m not looking lol! Just tested this out and it’s definitely related to L’Elixir which I have and love. On the card, very similar. On skin is where I could pick out the differences. It’s a very deep, rich and slightly tart cherry with a woody, smooth and sweet base. That violet definitely stands out. If you like L’Elixir, you’ll probably like this one... though they are maybe 60% the same. If you don’t like super sweet, fruity and woody scents, stay away.

Black cherry chapstick on a freshly powdered face. The oud is but a whisper. I'm not sure I'd have even guessed it was there if it weren't called out in the notes list. I've never been pleasantly surprised or struck by the La Vie Est Belle line, and while this is pleasant, to my tastes, it's another underwhelming addition. I wouldn't be put off to smell this on a young lady though, it's certainly nice enough. And I suppose if I were a modern teen and this were my first perfume, or my maiden venture into fruitchoulis, or even my intro to oud, I might be happy to begin my journey here. But alas, I'm a Gen X'er raised on stouter stuff, so it's a pass. This is my 200th review btw! Wish I'd had a more interesting frag with which to mark it.
