It wouldn’t be a La Vie Est Belle flanker review without the classic wave of dramatic complaints rolling in—someone blaming the scent for their miscarriage, another lamenting their “blinding headache,” and, of course, the inevitable “I had to scrub my skin raw to get rid of this horrid stench!” The vitriol is almost predictable at this point. But scroll through these reviewers' past critiques, and guess what? They’re the same ones raving about Le Labo and Maison Margiela as if those overpriced candles-in-a-bottle are the epitome of sophistication. Eye roll The irony is as thick as the supposed “offensive sillage” they’re so keen to hate on. Le Labo and Maison Margiela: Overpriced, Overhyped, and Overdone. Le Labo's Santal 33 smells like every wannabe-hipster’s overpriced candle collection—woodsy, bland, and indistinguishably boring. Meanwhile, Maison Margiela’s Replica line is less about memorable scents and more about selling a lifestyle; "Beach Walk" smells like generic sunscreen, and "Jazz Club" could easily be mistaken for a stale ashtray. Both brands prioritize aesthetic and marketing over unique, captivating fragrances, leaving you with scents that are as forgettable as they are overpriced. Save your money and your nose. Now for my review: La Vie Est Belle L'Élixir by Lancôme is a delightful twist on the classic, bringing a modern and slightly bolder edge to the beloved La Vie Est Belle line. This 2024 release, strikes a lovely balance between sweet, floral, and a hint of the unexpected. The fragrance opens with a juicy burst of raspberry and the warmth of liquor, uplifted by the brightness of Calabrian bergamot. It’s an inviting start that feels both fruity and sophisticated, not overly sweet but enough to draw you in. The heart of violet leaf and rose adds a fresh yet subtly powdery floral touch, which feels elegantly understated, perfect for those who like a bit of classic femininity without being overbearing. The base is where things get more interesting—notes of leather, cacao butter, and cedarwood provide a creamy, slightly smoky depth that lingers beautifully on the skin. This is genuinely one of my favourite fragrances of all time now!! 🤍💜 I actually discovered La Vie Est Belle Elixir while visiting a perfume store and chatting to the absolute sweetest worker!!! I told them I was desperate to find something that smells like the Parma violet sweets from my childhood, and they immediately handed me this to tryand I fell in love on the spot 💜✨ It really does smell like Parma violets, but even better!! It has that soft, powdery violet sweetness, but with this gorgeous juicy raspberry note that makes it feel more vibrant and almost mouth watering 🍬 It’s sweet, sugary, slightly powdery, and still somehow very elegant. The raspberries come through really fresh and juicy, and the violet adds that soft floral touch. There’s also a slight warmth in the background that almost feels a little boozy, which just makes everything blend together soooo beautifully!! What’s crazy is I probably would have never picked this up on my own since I’m not usually a fan of the original La Vie Est Belle DNA. But this version completely changed my mind. Every time I wear it, I can’t stop smelling myself because it just smells so good 😭💜 I usually go for really heavy, cakey gourmands, but this feels like the perfect balance. It’s still sweet and edible leaning, but in a more refined and elegant way. The performance is amazing too. The sillage is strong and even with just one or two sprays I can smell it from over an arm’s length away. It also lasts really well on me, I can still smell it after around 5 hours ✨ I’m honestly just obsessed with this one. Such an easy 10/10 for me 🤍💜

This is a "grown up" raspberry perfume, but still absolutely incredible. One of my absolute favorites in a long time. The raspberry opening can easily carry over almost all day, but not as intensely as first spray (very typical of berry or fruity openings). I don't really smell bergamot so much, but it's definitely still there but more so as a supporting note. The violet really comes out after 1-2 hours, but with raspberry still there. I didn't notice the leather so much until the very end (8 hours) and even then it is quite faint. The cocoa butter base is absolute genius. As far as liquor note goes, it's very muted and not something you notice right away, but if you try a similar "fruity" fragrance, you'll notice many others come across as too sweet, or juvenile (like middle school girls overspraying Bath and Bodyworks in the gym). The liquor note is more of a supporting one for the raspberry that keeps it from being overly sweet, liquor smells similar to a brandy, bourbon, or rum. Great for cool Spring weather, but definitely not a hot humid summer wear for outdoor work or outdoor activities. If you are inside all day, this could work as an "office" fragrance, but definitely do not overspray. 1 spray easily lasts 6-9 hours. After 8 hours of wearing it, my husband asked me : "Are you wearing something? I like it!" Guess this one is a permanent Fall to Spring keeper.

Last week I ordered a perfume from a foreign website, and they're sending me a gift sample of LVEB L'Elixir. Well, I disliked LVEB L'Elixir when I tested it this summer, but once my order arrives, I will give this perfume another try. Who knows, maybe it will eventually grow on me! 😇 Update 10/1/2025: I've worn this today and it's become a like for me. It has its phases, with the raspberry that brings on a sweet, airy feel to the scent, then the powdery violet leaf shows up with a rather shy rose and a dark mix of leather and cedarwood. The raspberry is present all through the rest of the dry down. I know what the cocoa butter smells like, but I don't detect that note here. On the other hand, Elixir isn't nearly as gourmand as the OG. In fact, it is very different from the OG. Even so, it has great longevity and moderate to strong sillage. I'd say this is not a safe blind buy, as it needs patience and the right mood in order to grow on you. For now, I'm not going to buy a full bottle of this elixir, but I might reconsider if my like turns into love. Update 10/6/2025: OK, this has become a love for me, so I purchased a bottle of it. If you like fruity perfumes and especially raspberry notes, L'Elixir is lovely for everyday wear, whatever the season.

I smelled this perfume once in Ulta and knew I had to have it. It’s the most delicious, tart, juicy raspberry scent I’ve ever smelled. Raspberry is undoubtedly what you’ll smell first. There is absolutely leather in the dry down, and I get the cocoa butter too (although it’s subtle and I can see how many people might not detect it). No, it doesn’t smell anything like the original LVEB. You have to enjoy girly, fruity scents to like this one. I wouldn’t say it’s outwardly juvenile, and I don’t believe that perfumes have age limits- however, I think this is perfect for a woman in her 20s as a “going out” perfume. It’s an addicting raspberry scent at its core, and I would compare it to Angel Nova. My husband says it smells like fruity shampoo! It’s not too complex or unique, but it’s absolutely a crowd pleaser and incredibly addicting. Basically, if you’re considering a blind buy, just ask yourself if you like raspberry-forward scents. That is the only criteria. And I suppose if you hate leather notes, stay away. Longevity is very good, but silage is somehow even better? One spray on my wrist and my husband can smell me from far away. And I’m one of those people whose perfumes don’t usually project very much. My new signature scent, for sure!

An olfactory work of art. The texture of buttery suede with notes of crisp red berries. As a lover of leather perfumes this simmers into a sumptuous smooth light leathery sexy note with a side of potent, tart red berries. Absolutely gorgeous. I tried the entire LVEB line including the OG and this is the only one I like. Uplifting, elegant and unique. The leather rendetion is less horse saddle and more braided bridle. Memories of horse back riding in high school summers lends to my love of leather perfumes. Also love interior leather car smells but this is lighter. The final phase comes maybe 6 hours into the dry down when the soft warm cocoa butter emerges. Theres no synthetic vengence dry down like some harsh leather perfurmes such as some of the Tom Fords. It eventually vanishes like powdery raspberry wisp of smoke but its a all day dry down. Like a more feminine, gentle, wearable version of Tom Fords Tuscan Leather. I need to try Balmain Cuir Elysees from the same raspberry leather group. Refreshing as a chilled berry cocktail, with cocoa butter jam cookies. A must try for any leather or berry scent fans.

I tried this when it was first released and didn’t think much of it. It seemed very foo-foo-la-la. But recently I have been craving sweet. And I really hate most gourmands. Maybe it is the cold weather or the recent nostalgia that has overcome me. We’re approaching Christmas. I’m in a relationship with my friend from teenage years and despite the initial awkwardness and both of our imperfections, it has been nothing short of laughter and peace. It seems like this perfume was made for this moment. Something that initially seemed trivial or even a bad idea. But you revisit it and it just works. It envelopes me in a cloud sweetness. And as I bring my nose closer to my wrist, there is depth. The powdery warmth from cocoa, against the coolness of the violets. The liquor and leather gives an edge of sexiness. There is tension and passion. I’m really impressed as it develops. From first glance, I didn’t think much. But as I wear it, it seems to be just what I wanted. Definitely adding this one to my cold weather date scents.

I was randomly spraying perfumes on tester cards in shoppers, just to pass some time. I brought like ten cards home and one of them smelled so good I couldn’t describe it I racked my brain trying to figure out what perfumes I had sprayed. I went to two other shoppers with the card and no one was any help. So I went back to the initial one I was testing at told the girl working my story and she said do your thing girl. I walked up and picked this one up first and smelled the bottle said THIS IS IT!!! The colour of the tester liquid was like grey and we were a little unsure if this was it because the colour of the one in the box was pinkish. Anyways I am OBSESSED WITH THIS RIGHT NOW, I cannot stop spraying this, I have such a lovely raspberry ozonic bubble around me, I think that’s the note that brings this all together for me. Ugh it’s so good. I dunno how anyone could not like this I think I need to get a backup bottle.

I'll mention the bottle; it's beautiful. The color of both the liquid and the ribbon are wonderful. And what does l'elixir smell like? Delicate. In the initial phase, I can detect all the ingredients individually. The raspberry's beautiful, feminine, and not childish note. The leather initially competes for the podium, but over time it fades in favor of the cocoa butter. Three notes linger longest and most prominently on my skin: raspberry (with a delicate, liqueur-like infusion), violets, and cocoa butter. Occasionally, a rose tries to break through. The leather only makes the fragrance vibrate. In my opinion, it's a year-round fragrance. The perfume is delicate and feminine, with a balanced sweetness, arms-length projection, and good longevity. I really like this version of La Vie... and so does my man. He compliments me constantly. I recommend testing.

This is definitely a refreshing perfume profile. The great - I love the tart raspberry note that comes from the combination of the raspberry and bergamot. The 'liquor' part eludes me, my daughter, and a friend of mine that was visiting. After several hours, I can smell the cocoa note, maybe even a bit of the cedarwood, but I have no idea what violet leaf and pink smell like or where it is in the profile. It's an odd combination of notes but somehow it works - while light-ish on the skin, the opening notes really speak in terms of sillage, the cocoa/cedarwood is softer, but welcome. I'm literally mesmerized by it - NOT a good blind buy as it's a very complex scent. I love it though - refreshing and unique, I have literally never smelled such a prominent and clean tart raspberry before. Stunning.

This perfume is addictive. I first paid for a sample of all the perfumes in the range and this one stood out for me. All day I kept getting wiffs of something intoxicating and it was this perfume. It’s syrupy and feminine and so pretty. I don’t often find a perfume that I love that I spurge on i tend to buy mini versions of a perfume because they’re just so expensive but with this gem I couldn’t not buy a 50ml and when it’s run out I’m going to be sad this is going to be my signature scent for this autumn and winter I think it has the right amount of silage and the right projection. I can really smell the tartness of the raspberries in this perfume and the iris leaf (I think it’s iris) it’s a smooth and all round beautiful fragrance I love it it makes me feel feminine and pretty

Amazing! Lancome does it again for me. This one here smells exactly identical to parma violet candies. It smells IDENTICAL to those purple perfumed candies. Really happily surprised as those are one of my favourite candies. It's sweet, but I'm going against the accords because I'd actually say it's quite powdery with subtle candy-like florals. I can also identifiy the Raspberry Liqeur in this but mainly all I smell are parma violets. It's really lovely! I'm not sure if I want to smell like it though, because a lot of people I know really hate parma violets but I do feel like this one is for me. Overall this smells like if you dipped thousands of parma violets into a small bottle of Blue Tree's Raspberry Gin Liqeur that's in their christmas gin baubles set. I love it!

this still smells as amazing now as it did when it was first released. but I am just now realizing that it may have been done already by the indie brand hexennacht, if my memory serves me correctly. I don't have them infront of me now, but I did go through a phase years ago centered around sweetened violet/makeup powder/lipstick scents. immediately this brings to mind Vice. but I think this LVEB flanker has a stronger raspberry note than Vice, so maybe it's closer to Bisou, another Hex scent. for reference for anyone familiar with these Hex scents, I would say Candied Violets is a great deconstructed, kind of "bare bones" option that still shares similarities. definitely a "if you like X, then you'll probably like Z" situation.

Love love love! 😍 I blind bought this and it was not a regret. It smells tart and juicy and fruity, all I can smell is the raspberry all the way to the dry down with the added violet. It does remind me of miss dior essence with the intensity and fruitiness and also reminds me of insolence by guerlain in the opening, but the heart and dry down are completely different. I own the LVEB OG and I like it, the elixir and that one are not similar and I am glad, this one stands alone and from all my collection it smells very unique. I love it so much that without finishing it I got a 100ml refillable bottle as a backup. Some reviews say they smell leather, I am not a fan of leather, luckily I can't smell it at all in this fragance.

I can't believe I love this like I do! 🥰 I actually only sampled it goofing around in Ulta because it's not the profile I usually go for. But once I tried it, I could not get I off my mind till I bought it! It's lots of raspberry, powder, but gives a freshness unusually don't find in these types of perfumes. Very unusual in my opinion and I have yet to smell anything similar (I don't get the comparison to Miss Dior Essence that is the viral opinion at the moment) Definitely a fall /winter fragrance. If feel like this could be an either Love It or Hate It fragrance for a lot of people, but I fall into the LOVE category and I'm generally pretty picky and rarely like anything but freshies ❤️

This perfume is beautiful but is designed for a bold girly that wants sweetness and fruitiness that can be worn in the summer due to its iconic middle notes but has the power of a winter perfume. It literally floats in the air pulling people’s heads towards you. I do believe this perfume is probably better in the air than on your person because it is strong and can be overwhelming if you spray around your neck. This perfume is a ozonic/watery Raspberry . This perfume is Bettie Page in a bottle! It's sparkling and effervescent and cloyingly sweet but there's nothing innocent about it. It's all leather and whips meets flirty giggles, winks and blowing kisses. The raspberry and leather take center stage for me and are made all the more rich and sensual by the rose and cocoa butter notes that support them. I don't smell the liquor at all but that's okay. This perfume is perfect for the girls who get called crazy, who cut their own bangs and dye it jet black from the box and wear a Monroe piercing proudly, who know that they're girly girls at heart no matter what anyone says.

Sour-sweet raspberry hits your nose immediately after the first spray, but this perfume develops quite interestingly. It goes from very strong raspberry (I'd assume the strength of the smell is somewhat supported by the liquor note), into something more mature and unique. I don't get much of the violet leaf, however there is undoubtedly a floral vibe going throughout the fragrance's entire development. This also lasts so long on the skin and your clothes and absolutely everywhere, my skin eats perfumes so fast but this one I can smell on myself even after hours!

I liked a lot this Elixir, it has a very proéminent raspberry candy note, little powdery. Is definitely different from original LVEB, there is nothing from original, that's why many people are talking that those that like te original would not like this and vice versa, I can say: I like both of them Wich one with their caracther. In my opinion do have some point in common with Insolence from Guerlain, but different enough for don't be redundant. Elixir is more raspberry candy, while Insolence is almost in a edge between grapes and raspberry with some salty.

Coming back to add I feel like i can almost taste tart raspberries covered in powdered sugar when I wear this. It's so good. When I first tested this it was so strong and I didn't know what to think. I washed the jacket I sprayed it on, it was so strong. After the wash I could still smell it on the cloth and it was so good. It's so rich and creamy and intense. So far I really like it for a long lasting deep base with lighter stuff on top. The berry is good. The boozy is good. The cocoa butter is good. Super happy with it.

Really nice and reminds me of raspberry-violet bon bons. Have you ever had those little candies in that flavor? I haven't seen those in maaaanny years. This is sweet, powdery, raspberry and violet with coco butter weaved in to give it a certain creaminess that doesn't become cloying or take over. A very elegant fragrance. I have too many bottles of perfume as it is, and this is not the type I am looking for at the moment, but it's GOOD. A real pearl in a sea of terribly synthetic, extremely boring designer fragrances.

This is so pretty. It's like fizzy raspberry juice with ice on a summer day. Blind bought because I was looking for a rasberry scent and this really fits the bill so far. I will see what the dry down is like but the opening is just gorgeous. I knew the cocoa butter was not going to be prominent and it's non existent which is too bad one craves a creamy undertone to it as it's a sharp opening but the experience of eating drinking tart raspberries is there in the notes. I smell no leather at all ether.

LOVE this fragrance, what I like about it? everything. I knew by the first spray ; I like the fact that it doesn't smell like the lancôme dna, like the incredible jammy-syrupy-soft raspberry and the violet, it lasts all day on me and I can spray a hundred times and still be obsessed with that perfume (hopefully I don't spray that much lmao). There's something about it that is SO addictive, and even tho I'm trying to describe it, I don't have enough words to express how I appreciate that fragrance.

as someone who finds the other LVEB fragrances to be mid, I'm in love with this fruity powder bomb. it is syrupy but the sourness of the berry balances this out very well. the powdery violet also helps offset any juvenile, overly sugary vibes. this reminds me of the smell of a berry red christmas candle from my childhood. it feels good to finally have that same scent in my hands. I sprayed this on my wrist and, after my shower, the leather and cocoa butter left a beautiful impression

I smelled this in Macy’s on a whim not even thinking I would like it because the Lancome brand doesn't attract me The name “ L’Elixir” intrigued me so I went for it. This is the Best smelling fragrance I have ever smelt, this is a Sweet sexy Killer! I hope they never discontinue this. Like ever! I found my signature scent! This flanker should've had better promotion. And to be honest a better bottle. They better not ever discontinue this grown & sexy scent.

I am in love with this for the Fall and Winter months. This is a very sweet, violet/raspberry heavy fragrance. If you do not like either of those notes, steer clear. That being said, this is so lovely. A slightly boozy, syrupy violet dream, with a soft hint of leather at the base. I would only wear in colder weather, it is strong. I think it would choke people out in any type of warm climates. But man! is this yummy in the colder temperatures!

LVEB l'elixir and iris absolu are the shining stars in this collection. I love the powdery and sweet direction that the lipstick violet and raspberry take this in. Violet is my favorite floral note and I feel that violet centered fragrances are few and far between. If you love violet like me, I believe you would be very happy with this one. A few sprays stayed with me all day and I've received many "wow you smell so good!" compliments :)

Wow I love this!!! I don't like la vie est belle and find it overwhelmingly floral and "older woman" vibes but this is a phenomenal fragrance. Nothing like LVEB! It opens with a rich fruity gourmand with a miss dior DNA and dries down to this leathery oppulent gourmand. I love it and think anyone who likes miss dior, fruity gourmands would love this. I think it's best suited to autumn and winter due to the dry down.

My relationship with this perfume is intimate and profound, it brings me back to days at the beach when I was young and sexy - well, I still am but I was younger - a doll to be looked at, able to escape the horrors of life to a simpler, brighter, more beautiful world. In a nutshell, this fragrance smells like a fresh day of spring from my childhood. It smells fresher than fresh air, like yassified oxygen.

SO UNDERRATED. I really dislike every La Vie Est Belle flanker, but oh my gosh this one! It doesn't smell at all like the base dna. It's such a sweet, fruity and candy-like scent with an enormous lasting power on my skin. I absolutely love the raspberry and cocoa in this and I definitely get an almost licoricie-like twang the longer it sits. So yummy and I've goten so many compliments while wearing this.

It finally happened! I’ve found a fragrance from the LVEB line that I actually really like! On my skin, it smells of raspberry, but more than anything, violet. A sweet, syrupy, almost liqueur-like violet. That intense violet note instantly reminded me of Insolence, which I adore (even if the two are different), so how could I not fall for this one too? A truly lovely discovery.

Oh. My. Goodness. SO GOOD! I like this way better than the original. (And wouldn’t be able to tell it was La Vie Est Belle flanker on a blind sniff.) Initial spray is reminiscent of Swedish Fish candy, but not in a juvenile way. Dry down is like a warm, fruity hug. Comforting and uplifting. This is a scent I never want to run out of and can see it becoming my signature.

I just tried this perfume and I am IN LOVE. I’ve been searching for a scent that smells like violet candies, and accidentally found it in my perfume sampler from Ulta! 1 hour later and I still only smell violet and raspberry, and maybe the faintest hint of leather. This is a very juicy, warm, violet scent in my opinion. Honestly, this is my new favorite 😭🖤

This gem is amazing in all La Vie belle series. Trust me it is great compliment getter even people with sensitive nose gave me compliments. This can be easily one's signature scent. And it last all day longer even you can smell it next day. Really Lancome has done an amazing job with this lovely fragrance. I will definitely be buying this again and again.

I'm wearing today, such amazing fragrance. Criminally underated. Each time I wear it I automatically think that I need a backup 💗 is beautiful fragrance, is cream, powdery, elegant Chery, red fruit, licorice does fit very well with colder weather💗 I strongly disagree with the comment bellow saying about chemical or artificial smell, is not what I think.

Me encanta la salida, enserio me encanta. Me fascina la frambuesa en la salida 🥹, se siente tan dulce que es una delicia. Me volvió loca cuando lo probé por primera vez, tristemente no dura mucho. La proyección de este perfume es fenomenal, he recibido halagos y me encanta. Me compré un decant de este perfume y si o si lo añado a mi lista de deseos.

Este perfume me sorprendió, no es NADA parecido al primero pre - flanker. Diría que es el mellizo de Guerlain Insolence. Huele literalmente a caramelos de violeta empolvados, dulces y atalcados como muñeca vintage. Es floral y puro. Debo reconocer que debido a la violeta empolvada, también me recuerda mucho a Feerie (2008) de Van Cleef & Arpels.

This has that addictive quality, where you can't stop smelling it. I tried it on in the store, immediately purchased it, and put more on when I got home. It's got a very pretty but uncommon Raspberry, not jammy and not bright/sour...not sweet like a body wash... instead, it's like the violet as raspberry are some fresh delicate sorbet.

I'm not a super big fan of the OG, but L'Elixer is a whole different story. I can't quite put my finger on it but it reminds me of something from my childhood, maybe a bubble bath formula from when I was little? Either way it's such a nice fragrance and I can't wait to wear it now that I've gotten my hands on a bottle of it.

Very palatable leather note, like in LPRN Black Perfecto. Violet-berry like Insolence edp. Gorgeous old-fashioned vibe in a modern blend. I have just a 10ml sprayer, but even that is classy looking, with its gold and black neck and lid. Deep mauve juice looks drinkable. Moderate performance. Recommended if you like violet!

I want this one. Reminds me of the early 90s perfume Champagne that my Auntie had. This one is also of the same vibe, strong, unisex and gorgeous. You need an established persona to wear this. Great evening perfume but I would rock it in the office too with a grey or black suit some pure gold jewellery. Wow!

Let me start off by saying I HATE the original La Vie est Belle with a passion. This version is so so so beautiful and smells nothing like the original (which I love). Smells powdery-sweet in the best way. Kind of feels like the older sister version of Celeste by giardini di toscana. Beautiful!!!

It kind of smells like a mixture of a more powdery version of anna sui classic and some good quality rasberry scent. I don't even like rasberry that much and I really dislike the original la vie est belle but this perfume is so amazing, mysterious, sexy, deep yet fresh, etc.. I love it!

It has a strong raspberry scent, and to me it also smells like anis for some reason - it's probably the liquor note. It smells interesting and expensive. It's not too heavy or overpowering. I love this, but couldn't wear it every day as it's quite strong and lasts on my skin all day.

Aay bu parfüm çok güzel ekşi ekşi sulu sulu ahududu kokuyor 💕. Ancak deri ve likör de hissediliyor, özellikle benim tenimde deri notası çok fazla açıldı ama ahududu kısmı o kadar güzel kokuyor ki deri notası görmezden gelinebilir. Çokk beğendim ✨️

Smelt a sample at ulta, safe to say I need the full size. It smells like apple to me, candied apple with raspberry. Such a beautiful scent. It reminds me of a favorite of mine “into the night” by bath and body works, but more sophisticated.

I really enjoyed this one it’s fruity, sweet, and just smells AMAAAZING It still has that signature La Vie est Belle warmth, but the fruity twist makes it feel a bit more fun and modern. Had people telling me I smelled really good ;>

I actually ordered another perfume and got the sample of Elixir, but I immediately fell in love with this one :) this perfume is soooo ME, a little crazy mix between fruit alcohol and leather but incredibly sexy and sensual
