L'Autre Oud

I don't think the world was ready for this fragrance because it was ahead of it's time. Had it come out now it would totally fit the market with all the middle eastern fragrances being released with the same similar note structure. L'autre Oud is a thick rich leather oud. When I first tried this type of oud I wasn't ready for it and sat it on the shelf. Now that my tastes have changed I came back to this only to find out how beautiful it really is and it definitely has that middle eastern style. I also just realized that Bade'e Al Oud Amethyst is a lot like this fragrance. Not an exact dupe but same beautiful leather oud. Instead though in this fragrance there is a beautiful rose petal note that comes out as the oud begins to settle and it's a pinch powdery in comparison to the original L'autre Oud that is richer and denser with no powderiness at all. This is a beautiful fragrance. And if you love BAO Amethyst you will easily love L'autre Oud. L'autre Oud is a natural rose petal oud and BAO Amethyst is a fruity floral oud. Similar yet different enough to own both. And Amethyst is a good similar option to this. They both play on this nice rich leather oud note even though I do believe the oud in L'autre Oud is a bit more intense but not by much in comparison to Amethyst. And with middle eastern fragrances being in trend I think most now are ready for these type of fragrances. I think they are both lovely and worth trying if this is in your realm of fragrance notes that you love. But a word of advice..if you don't like heavy oud in fragrances steer clear of this unless you are daring. I like to try anything once and I'm happy that I saved this bottle because it's in trend now more than it ever was when it was released previously.

Ok people, after my rather crappy experience with Diors exclusives, this one is a revelation! I was lucky enough to try it on the day of its launch and after restraining myself for a couple of minutes I just had to have it. First of all, the scent is heavy and quite intense but even if oud can be strange smelling, this blend is perfectly balanced, making it a unique composition to my nose. Usually rose itches my nose but here it only whisperes in the background, making space for the majestic incense. Saffron connects the components harmoniously and leaves you with a sensual and captivating fragrance. Its like mixing the best of Pradas classic for women with Amber Oud by Kilian. Give it some time to develop on your skin, you ll be under its spell within minutes, I promise you. Suited for all amber lovers and fans of (truly) oriental fragrances!

Now i must say, I've smelled a lot of this french trending ouds, and this one is very nice quality indeed, the best I've smelled and this include some also high class brands, a very french style oud indeed but very nice quality, the incense used in this one is amazing, one of my favorites from this brand. What I get on my skin at least is a good quality woody-oud, a bit dusty with a very nice blended incense, a tiny touch of rose to give it some sparkle, didn't detect much saffron which to me is a good thing, all the other notes are very well blended, I find it very elegant, soft yet it has a very well know presence, first impressions where a love. Unfortunately, much more expensive then the previous one, I cannot find this one online with the same price has the older one, that it seems to have more rose in it

The strongest of my collection projection wise. It’s quite interesting. Initial blast of a fruity rose accord. No soft fluffy rose here but initially piercing and very present, but more in the way of how a fruity rose could smell. It’s moves into rich boozy woods for me - distinctly boozy with honeyed thick feel. Fairly quickly into the powdery oud I’ve come to associate with this house, though one with a metallic edge. Not unlike what I’ve gotten with Montale/Mancera (but not as pronounced). The incense comes last and feels like it’s sitting above the fragrance like a light fluffy cloud. Cool against the warmth of the resins/oud/rose. I’m testing on a cool summer day. Will be intrigued to revisit as it cools down.

Oud is a rather recent discovery for me, and I simply cannot have enough of it! This one is definitely one of the best. Mesmerizing and addictive. Dark elegance, mysterious and seductive. Mature experience, when the years gone by have made one wiser and more daring at the same time. A dark red rose at the button-hole of a silk velvet dinner jacket. Or a burgundy evening gown. Someone who enjoys dressing up for going to the opera or the opening night of a star-studded play. Someone for whom only the best is good enough. And then more...
