Magnifique

(This review is for Eau de Perfume) Oh, MAGNIFIQUE... I am addicted to your woody, smoky and spicy beauty. I literally stay glued to my wrists to inhale it over and over. I grant it that it is unique and hard to describe, definitely one of those fragrances that either evoke strong love or hate. I am trying to figure out why I find it so enchanting. There is this hot but comforting feeling to this fragrance that I find quite appealing. Perhaps it is this mysterious and evocative nagarmota wood scent? The opening is spicy and warm. Some reviewers mentioned tobacco like notes and I agree. It also reminds me a bit of a burning wood and fall leaves. The scent develops quite beautiful on my skin with the spicy woods and tobacco notes mixed with the subtle but red hot roses. The saffron note is quite noticeable in the opening and in the heart notes. The scent stays linear on my skin with the smoky and spicy woods and a bit of hot roses. The sillage is close to the skin but the longevity is quite long. This fragrance reminds me so much of a fall season with its deep shades of burgundy, gold and orange. I love fall season especially when I can travel to the mountains and see all the shades of autumn highlighted by the beauty of mountain picks and calm lakes. I see MAGNIFIQUE being my companion on those trips sharing it's haunting beauty with the fall scenery and inner reflections. This fragrance does not speak loud but it has the determination, confidence and strength mixed with the deep sensuality. It is like taking a hike on a beautiful fall trail and then cuddling with a lover by the fireplace in a remote cabin. MAGNIFIQUE is a beautiful fragrance but I recommend sampling before buying as this fragrance is quite unique in my opinion.

This review made possible by the generosity of Goldenfire5. It opens with a strong saffron and a bit of powder (just a hint from the rose I think). There is a slight spice but not distinct enough to say for sure it's caraway. I actually think it may be the cypriol oil. I don't get any of the rye bread caraway scent, anyhow. There is definitely that synthetic thing going on that others have complained about but it's not too overpowering to ruin the scent for me. I wish there was a bit more warmth in this though. The opening has an unfinished feeling to it. Now we get to the magic of this one. The heart. I checked back in after an hour of application and I am getting a sweet rose. Very similar to the rose in Tresor, I can see why people compare the two. But unlike Tresor there is Saffron behind this rose cutting the sweetness and adding more depth to this composition and grounding the sweet rose. It's lovely. The warmth I wanted in the opening is here in the heart thanks to the saffron and spice (maybe caraway most likely the cypriol oil, but I still can't say for sure). The spice is subtle and soft, a very goldilocks amount. Not too much, not too little. Perfect. The synthetic thing is all gone now too. I'm checking in on the dry down nine hours after application. It's definitely a skin scent now but it's a beautiful soft sweet floral with a slight hint of sandalwood. There is also a memory of the saffron and spice that sits behind the sandalwood and rose. Yea. I love it.

I don ́t get it. Why is Euphoria super popular when this one never was? Not alike per se, but definitely in the same vein. I love this, actually, and I would wear it often had I had more of it (I have merely 20 ml left). It ́s woody and warm from sandalwood and slightly spicy from saffron and caraway- both of them used in mellow amount so no skankiness here, which both saffron and caraway otherwise CAN create. Here they ́re subdued and interesting, not in your face, but noticeable. The rose is really nice, fruity and deep. I am not sure what makes it fruity- is it the rose itself here or something else? I am unfamiliar with nagarmotha so maybe that is what makes it fruity? Or not. Dry vetiver makes it avoid being too sultry and to me that ́s good since I can ́t wear too lush or sweet orientals. I read a review somewhere saying that this is an attempt to riding on the wave of the ever increasing niche market- by creating something niche-like. I think the reviewer found that cynical of Lancome. I am not sure that Lancome tried to do that, but even if they did- so what? To put more originality in the day ́s scent sphere by being inspired by niche should be appreciated, not frowned upon. But I guess Lancome missed out on reading EITHER consumer group since it ́s discontinued and I never hear about it. I, however, find it very nice, very wearable, warm, yet bright and that fruity rose with mild spices is yummy.

this is nostalgia in a bottle for me...I'm so upset it was discontinued, I need to find a dupe for this immediately or they need to relaunch this ASAP! I have NEVER come across a fragrance like this, it is very unique complex oriental scent and it's not for the basic girlies!! I've been stopped and asked countless times in the last 12 years what I'm wearing whenever I've worn this! The silage is amazing and not in a headache-inducing way!! It's honestly the LEAST generic smelling fragrance out there which is why it's been near to IMPOSSIBLE to find a dupe for this. The saffron notes in here smell RICH, it has floral notes from the rose and jasmine, spiciness from the caraway, IT HAS SO MUCH DEPTH!!! It's the perfect balance of sweetness and spiciness and it literally smells like "rich" in a bottle. I especially love the woody dry down of this which comes from the sandalwood. It's defo a date night scent or for the colder months. This used to be my signature scent for a long time until the bottle almost hit bottom... 12 years later and still have a few ml left inside the empty bottle which I'm holding onto for dear life because I REFUSE to let the last few drops go! I've had to replace this with a different signature scent which smells nothing like this actually lmao... Magnifique is irreplaceable :))

Great scent. Warm and sophisticated, yet simple, it embraces you as a soft and tender cashmere. I guess that's the feeling Donna Karan would like to evoke within all those Cashmere fragrances, such as Black Cashmere (which I love very much) and Cashmere Mist. The rose plays along, developing the fragrance, but not an onipresent rose, such as in Agent Provocateur (the first one). The basenotes of sandalwood, musk (yes, I get musk there) and caraway, with a heavy and welcomed hint of vetiver and cedar are comforting in a way I feel warm and relaxed to do all the activities my days are having nowadays. You see, it's not a comforting-go-to-bed scent, it's a comforting-you-go-girl scent. And least but not last, the spiciness of saffron, tingling sweetly with the tender jasmin note. It has great longevity; sillage is heavy in the first 2 hours, then it moderates. Wearing Magnifique I feel very womanly, feminine, confident and active. I perceive a sexyness that's not the boudoir one, a sexyness that comes from being assertive and charming. I guess the ladies should give it a try, and the gentlemen also. The rose-spiciness may get very interesting in male skin.

This is my favorite perfume that I have ever tried. I am absolutely in love with it and I am so disappointed it has been discontinued. I have splurged on a couple of bottles from auction, fortunately they didn't cost too much more than what I paid when it was in stores. I first bought it in the early 2000s when it first came out and I never dreamed I wouldn't be able to find it again. So disappointed that it was discontinued, but it has put me on a path to try to find a replacement for it and I've had some luck. I love the heavy woody scents that it has and the sweetness that comes off after longer wear. I never thought I liked rose before, but Magnifique proved me wrong! This is truly a classic scent and I really hope they decide to bring it back around eventually. Until then, my search for a suitable replacement continues! If you ever have the chance to buy a bottle for less than $100, snatch it up, you won't regret it!

I love the smell of real roses but this rose. *sigh* It's rich, sweet, and jammy; like I crushed some of the petals. It's of course it's a little hidden under the veil of the the woods, saffron, and other spices. But they complement it well. I'm afraid to use the bottle honestly, by miracle I found it in a second hand store for $8 I looked it up and it's discontinued. Otherwise it would have been my all time signature sent. I'd also like to say this perfume layers well if I'm feeling a different vibe it goes well with body sprays and lotions. It lasts a very very long time on me a whole 12+ hours, still after a shower, and sometimes I can still get faint whiffs after multiple days (the trade off is zero projection). 10/10 Update: Years later after trying many new perfumes this is still my favorite of all time, nothing has taken its place. 😭

I remember the first time I smelled this perfume. My mother was wearing a black dress, sitting on her bed putting on a pair of shiny earrings. She was going to a dinner party with my father. My mother looked and smelled like a million bucks. I asked her if she'd gotten a new perfume. I have always been collecting miniature bottles and to my surprise, she got me this one in a miniature size. I still have it, but it's empty. I started wearing as I was starting my adult life. I was in love and I wanted to feel and look like my mother did that one evening. I have very good memories of this dark, fruity sensual scent. Spicy and elegant. Woddy blended with jasmine. Feminine but not mature. Good sillage but not too strong. Almost unique. This scent made me feel empowered and sophisticated. Such a shame it's discontinued.

Oh, this fragrance has such a hypnotic effect on me. When I first sprayed it, I almost got a lightly jarring sensation of clean, nutrient-rich bark mulch, infused with spices and a hint of rose, which immediately got my attention. Then an arid, aromatic vapor arose--so much like a pyre of really dry exotic timber and mounds of dark red, almost bitter dried rose petals. I felt like I was sitting, spellbound, staring into the flames of an exotically mesmerizing bonfire. Magnifique doesn't feel 'hot' however and is closer to the dry incensed vapor that might arise from a fire such as this, rather than its embers or flames. The drydown is earthy, rich and dark, woody rose which stays really close to my skin. Magnifique could get by as a soft, masculine scent, but I think it's more suited to women.

Absolutely gorgeous! The slogan says it all: "You are unique, you are magnifique". That's how I feel whenever I wear this perfume. I remember the first time I smelled it - I got Macy's magazine in the mail, and there was that paper with a perfume on it. It was LOVE at the first sniff - rich, expensive,sexy and truly unique. My husband asked if I liked it and I already new he was going to get it for me. I received it from him on my Birthday and I treasure every drop. Too bad it is being discontinued, I don't know if I'll be able to find anything like this when I use up my only bottle. The sillage and staying power are awsome. This is a great perfume for special occation, not for everyday use. I imagine older girls in their 30's-40's, brunettes wearing it.

Magnifique is the scent of passionate love. The sensual rose blended with intoxicating jasmine creates an air of romance. Nagarmotha and sandalwood adds earthiness and warmth to the composition. When I wear this fragrance I can't help imagining myself in an erotic boudoir scene from some romance novel by Connie Mason or Jude Devereux. I feel positively beautiful and sexy. Elegant yet understated. Mature yet not in a matronly kind of way. Utterly sophisticated without being too complex or over-the-top. Much easier to wear than the overwhelming (yet beautiful) Tresor, but not as flighty as the candy cane sweet, vanilla laden Hypnose. It is fast replacing Hypnose as my favorite fragrance of all time. This is seriously beautiful!

What i notice about Lancome perfumes that they have an distinct scent apart from other fragrances lancome has a sweetish light and woody texture notice Poeme Miracle Hypnose Tresore and Hypnose senses all have this sweet vanilla and woodsy scent that is sort of their trademark. The top note starts with saffron with it's woody & sweet accord with the spicy drydown of Caraway. the middle dries to a Velvety scent of crushed Red roses and fiery Sandalwood i can detect a vanilla note in this so i think they should place an vanilla note in the note cards. The color of the flacon is beautiful deep Ruby Red on top but dilutes to a Clear Crystal at the bottom the sunset motif beneth the red sky very cleaver.

Got my hands on a 50ML bottle for $35 CAD by a random person on Marketplace. I remember going to my friend's house and wanting to steal her tiny bottle of this gorgeous scent so BAD! Of course I never did, and could never find it in stores. It's such a lovely woody-rose scent. It starts off with a blast of berries that makes me want to bite off my arm and savour it. It settles and becomes so seductive and warm, I feel like a Femme Fatale. So glad I found this gem and can add it to my tiny collection. Edit: I found that spraying it at am arm distance and letting the particles settle on my skin gets ride of the sour note that I don't particularly like in this fragrance. Beautiful!

Magnifique is one of those perfumes that I smelled and was intrigued at that moment. I didn't buy it right away because I wanted to think about it first. I went back a few months later and this time I actually tried it on myself. I couldn't stop smelling my wrist... the girl at perfume counter told me that this has nargamota wood (or however you spell it) and that it has addictive properties... that explained it! I didn't hesitate to but it right then and there and I'm glad I did. I have received compliments on this perfume... it smells amazing on me. It's perfect for Fall/Winter, for a special night out. Believe me, you won't go unnoticed if you're wearing this ;) I love it!!!

This is delicious...I’m bemused by the fruitiness I encounter all the way to dry down. Crisp and sweet greenness that feels like pear and apple. A golden scent that has a little spice and it feels like the saffron gives that slightly chewy sweetness as the jasmine sits up. In the dry down it holds the lovely fruity quality (sweet touch not too sweet) and gets more musky (slightly powdery) and woody with warm hay touches. I can almost feel early summer sunshine while huddling under the heatpump in winter. The only other fragrance I have that behaves like this (the general vibe) is old school Guerlain Idylle edp. Why on earth did they discontinue this? 😩

Saffron? Rose? Jasmine? Sandalwood? Vetiver? Wow! All of my favorites wrapped in one scent! No wonder I love it. When I took my first whiff at the perfume shop in my town, I was enthralled. I smelled a cold, menthol, spice...almost green and sparkling...in one word, Enchanting. I love it, but I think since we are going into spring, I'm afraid if I bought it now, I wouldn't reach for it. This will be absolutely perfect during Indian Summer. Can't wait to purchase and wear it. Every phase of this perfume has intrigued me. It definitely morphs and changes and offers new surprises-all beautifully seductive. I think men will love this one.

I am genuinely so happy to have picked up a sealed 50ml bottle, as I've chased it for years. Exactly as I remember, strong, woody, floral, with a very strong rose note. For me this has always seemed like Tresor tweaked, given a very strong rose and sandalwood profile. This stuff is strong, it radiates and lasts very well. Such a shame this didn't really take off, it just didn't land, Poeme and Tresor totally smothered it, it just got a little lost in between the two. It's a great atomiser, the bottle is nice, I just don't really like the plastic cap. It's taken me so long to get it, mission accomplished, it's a great fragrance.

This smells absolutely magnificent 😌. I do however get what someone said before about it being thin but when the breeze picks up and that scent trail wafts you smell like sweetly divine like not overly fruity because it’s so well blended... Not a gourmand or a fruitchouli which is why it’s such a stunner. This is a diva. While on stage -all eyes are on her seducing you in sultry song. For a more gourmand take on this amber floral I layered it with vanilla 28 by Kayali. Wow 🤩 I am truly stunned. great layering perfume. I would repurchase for a reasonable price. Mod to strong sillage 4 hours min longevity

my parents bought me a magnifique set which came along with a 30ml EDP, a 50ml body lotion and a 50ml showel gel. All i can say is that i LOVE this fragrance! its very different which makes the fragrance very unique.. it is a very complex fragrance and its very hard to describe the notes. on my skin Magnifique smells like a spicy yet fruity fragrance with a hint of floral. ITS AMAZING. the lasting power is beyond amazing .. the only downside to this fragrance is that it is very heavy and too strong for me bu i can deal with that! i also get so many compliments when i wear this!

I have been unsure about this perfume right from the first time I smelt it. It hooked my nose straight away and I was intrigued by the top notes so I bought it. Once it develops it softens on me as the middle and base notes emerge BUT it does start to smell like rhubarb and custard sweeties. I have to be in the mood to use it. If I'm going clothes shopping somewhere expensive I'll wear it then because it is different and edgy. A confidence boost in those circumstances. Despite smelling like candy, Magnifique is very much an adult perfume, which I like about it

I absolutely love this one. Can t say it s perfect, but it is different. It is no smell-like-all-the-others perfumes i smelled lately. It is young, shameless, warm...and strong. On me, it is spicy clean a bit synthetic perfume. The opening is really spicy, caraway explosion. After two minutes it gets better...the other note are in harmony, stays for hours like that. ends up with synthetic gum after 4-5 hours (EDP) (this plastic end has most of lancome fragrances on me.. i have wierd skin, perfume reacts differently on me than on my friends.)

Woody musk???? No, no , no..... Oriental spicy??? Yes!!!! The caraway note is quite dominant with a little bunch of flowers...The fragrance is quite unique, I have never smelled anything like this before! Great for office as well as a romantic date. I strongly disagree with some of you, it is not a sheer or subtle fragrance. To me it is quite distinctive, feminine (despite vetiver note) and a mood uplifting fragrance. Will be perfect for coming winter! One of the best fragrances made by Lancome, that is for sure.

This is a unique fragrance for a unique woman, now sadly discontinued. It has a strong character- can be super alluring, sexy and attractive but can be heavy and a turn off for some others. I think that is pretty typical of all Lancôme perfumes. It has amazing staying power. I have gone through bottles of this and am sad that this has been discontinued. Please does ANYONE have bottles of this for a swap. I have tonnes to perfume I can let go- including Gucci Flora, D&G the one rose, Gucci guilty and many more.

This is my newest fragrance. My nephew gave it to me for christmas, and at first i didnt like it at all. I felt it was far too strong. But after having it on it really grew on me, and now i love it more and more every time i wear it ! It starts off with a blast of sharp tones, but after a while on the skin it transforms into a warm and sexy perfume. This would deffinately suit strong young women perfectly. Also it lasts long, so you dont have to re-apply it during the day, wich is nice. :)

Though I've never been a great fan of Lancome fragrances (don't get me wrong: they're not good on me but Lancome's Poeme and Tressor were my mom's daily fragrances and just smelling them gives me a sense of being home in my mom's arms) this is an Outstanding fragrance with lots of personality. The wood notes along with the floral scent make a perfect combination. Went along GREAT with my body chemistry. Too bad it was discontinued... More fragrances like this one should be launched

Magnifique name fits perfectly for this fragrance my wife have it and when she use it so I think she smells wonderful, sexy , very attractive and happy. if I smell this frangrance of other women and I will turn my head once again, look and smile at her. it is the best female fragrance I've ever smells. it has a beautiful bottle with the red color and the red color signals love. I give my wife that love when she use it:) Men love this fragrance on a woman and women deserve it.

The wake bois combines vetiver and sandalwood to the essence of Nagarmotâ, a variety of Indian papyrus with smelly and smoky fragrance. Very good sillage and durability, I love it "magnifique"

Once I smelled the sample I was hooked. I thought about it all the time until I bought it. It seems the more mature fragrances that hold me are pretty controversial. But I adore this perfume. It smells very classy and elegant. I wear it on special occasions and out to dinner. It is very crisp and clean. But also slightly sweet. And woody. It reminds me of being in a forest in the autumn with its rich, dark woods. Also, Anne Hathaway looks gorgeous on the ads.

A beautiful warm, elegant and sophisticated perfume to my nose. I have been reading through some of the reviews and I really do not get some peoples` idea of a horrid perfume. To me this is one perfume that is everything I look for. Saffron, caraway and rose make this a spicy but not heavy perfume. Projection and longevity are good as well. This is a perfume of a lady who is confident and well groomed. Magnifique you have been well named.

Best perfume EVER. This beauty has been my signature scent since it was launched in 2008, dear Magnifique, you are the ONE, and I'll never be as obsessed with any other perfume as I am with you! Such a unique woody-spicy-sensual scent, nothing compares to this one. I usually use it when I wear red, pink, or neutral colours, grey, balck or white. I don't know why but this scent doesn't match any other outfit.

I was wondering if anyone experienced the same. About half a year ago, I worried that my bottle had gone bad because it smelled heavily like liquorice. I had the same with Lola Marc Jacobs at the time. But not I smelled them again and they seem fine... Is it a matter with my nose? Otherwise, I truly love the scent! Very warm, spicy, feminine, sexy in my opinion.

i like it very much! got it first from a sample inside a mall, at first i was not very impressed by the smell and thought it was just like incense burnt smell. but after i reapplied it again, it was like Wow, i love it very much with its magnifique, dreamy & thousand of roses smell!! and then i'd bought the 75ml bottle without any hesitate! :D

I am so lucky to own a small vial of this and I'm scared to use it all up. This is such a unique woodsy spicy rose smell. It is true that this has a slight "berry" undertone that mellows things out even though no fruits are featured in the notes. Just goes to show how well blended this scent is so I'm not surprised was discontinued 😔!

Such a beautiful grown-up scent. Whenever I smell this it takes me back into the shop where I used to work. We had a lot of fun there, so this scent brings back many happy memories. It's classy, soft and not mainstream I think. Also one of the few bottles in my collection that I actually finished. I would definately rebuy if I could.

I love this perfume; it is my absolute favorite. It is very dry and so it's subtle, and earthy, which I also like. I am a fan of woodsy scents, but alot of woodsy scents seem to have sweet notes or fruity notes in them. The fruit/sweet notes always overpower the woodsy notes in my opinion. This perfume doesn't have that. I love it.

WOW.. this fragrance smells really good! on my skin its smells like something fruity yet still spicy.. I have never smelled any fragrance like this before which makes this really unique. The lasting power is incredible.. Its smells much better if you apply the body lotion first! This is one of the best fragrance out there!

It was gifted to me by my girl friend. In Asia, this consider a very erotic perfume with a review, if you don't want to get pregnant, never let your husband smell it. But when apply on my skin, there's no erotic effect, just smells elegant, high taste. I use this a lot cause stays on my skin. One of my sweetening perfume.

Favourite of all time. So unique. Such a shame that they discontinued it. I hope to find a similar scent one day. I found that Lola Marc Jacobs is in the same kind of scent type, but not exactly the same (sweeter and lighter). I am so disappointed by all the smells from fashion brands nowadays. They all are so much alike.

I like that there is nothing girlish about this fragrance. The rose scent is so far from the 'classic' one is my opinion. It is spicy and full of saffron, which highlights the rose scent in a very refined way. Clearly, this is a different rose. I would say that Magnifique makes you feel like a sophisticated modern woman.

from all my perfumes, magnifique is still having the most unique & identifiable smell from others, which i love it most. i feel myself being pampered when wearing magnifique, and i feel less stress when i am wearing it for work. i would say that magnifique is magical & unique! many thanks to this fragrance creator.

My fav so far: it's spicy-fresh, rose/floral sensual, long lasting, wearable in many occasions and intriguing... makes me feel comfortable anytime :) Does anyone have a good alternative fragrance to suggest now that Lancome has discontinued it? (just choosed Saharienne YSL for spring/summer)

Oh, my nose was captivated with this! Sadlly, without a functioning crystal ball, and cash to match, amazing, beloved perfumes were discontinued without me purhasing swathes of back-ups. Desperately seeking in Australia. DM here, please, if you can help

My mom got this for christmas and I have borrowed it from her occasionally when I've been visiting home.I totally love it! It has this kind of royal feel to it and it smells great on me.Very special and unique fragrance, but not in a bad way at all!

One of my all time favourite scents. Its perfect for a signature scent. Very chic ,sadly discontinued. I have a partial bottle that i treasure. Ruby woo by mac has a similar vibe but lacks the elegant character that magnifique has.

Magnifique really lives up to its name. Imagine creamy, heavy lipstick, a bit of pepper and powder. Classy, expensive, a little exotic and just the right amount of outstanding. Dark, slightly smoky. Perfect for intense nights.

I hate a lot of Lancôme's fragrances... But I LOVE that one ! This is so sweet ! And I love Anne Hathaway for the anecdote, she is so sweet and graceful. Nobody but her can represents that fragrance better !

L O V E this fragrance! I smell sweet woody rose and light cinnamon. My original bottle is gone and I miss it so. Found a tiny bottle on eBay for a reasonable price and am cherishing it. Bring it back!

Is this not Tresor in a red bottle. Bought it out of curiosity, liked the bottle. Very sweet Tresor, very nice, but nothing unique here, I get Apricot notes here, surprised they're not listed.

Excellent , soft spicey-floral . Long lasting , on my skin about 8 hours . Can be compared with Tresor edp , but this one is more feminine , more '' chic '' . Positive vote .
