O d'Azur

My first encounter with this perfume was in Canada when my 25yo make-up-averse cousin went out to buy make-up for the first time in her life and came back with half a dozen perfume samples. I had the pleasure to try Tresor and this one. As someone who hates the smell of roses, I immefiately regretted putting on Tresor. However, once the top notes evaporated I was left with the best scent in the world. I had smelled it hundreds of times on other women, never knowing what it was, always longing. Unfortunately the beginning gives me a headache so I will have to forego this perfume. Ô d'Azur was a different story. I fell in love at first sniff. I must've been 17 or so and I begged my mum to buy it for me. A few months later she did, for my birthday. At €30 for 125ml, it was surprisingly cheap. We're now 3,5 years later and I've just under half of it left (very conviently calculated with the help of thw bottle's design). I wear it all the time as it's unoffensive yet appealing to all. I've worn it in each season and, while it smells slightly different, it works. In summer it refreshes me, in winter it warms me. Odd but I guess it just works with my skin. In 3,5 years it hasn't changed one bit. Longevity is amazing. I can put it on in the morning and I'll still smell it before bed. The first few whiffs are a tad too citrussy and rosy for me, a fan of neither, but after a few minutes it settles and becomes warmer and more approachable. I think my favourite phase starts about 5-6 hoirs after spraying it on and lasts until I take a shower. I can't count the amount of times I've sprayed it on in the morning yet could smell it on my pillow the next day. Even intensive exercise with lots of sweating doesn't take away from the scent. If anything, it gets better when it mixes with my sweat. My sweat stinks, like everyone else's, yet somehow it blends perfectly with this perfume. (Btw the same is true for Paco Rabanne's Black XS for her.) Maybe that's why I like it so much. When it comes to perfumes I'm not a big fan of fresh ones but this one works for me. I have nothing to compare it to as all my other perfumes are very different but I'd recommend it anyway.

To me O d'Azur is entirely different to any of those descriptions! On my skin this lovely scent is citrussy, fresh, clean, energizing and, as its name implies, very Mediterranean feeling - reminiscent of taking a summer's walk through gorgeous smelling citrus groves in the South of France, of strolling along an uncrowded Mediterranean beach, shoes off and feeling the sand sifting between your toes, with a warm, citrussy breeze wafting down from the inland countryside. It's very cologne like and is ideal to wear in warm weather because it smells fresh and gorgeous without being overpowering. The only slight question mark for me is the longevity of it but it's such a lovely scent I can turn a blind eye to that because although it doesn't necessarily linger for hours and hours, it does last long enough on me without having to constantly refresh. For me it's a feel good, intoxicating perfume that makes me very happy to have wafting around me and, as it's fairly well priced, I think it's well worth the money. As for the comparison(s) to Tresor Midnight Rose, to me O d'Azur doesn't smell similar at all. I love both of these perfumes, and I have TMR also, but to me they smell very different to one another. Tresor Midnight Rose does have a citrussy dry down, along with the rosiness, but it's far denser and more intense smelling, though not in a stink bomb way luckily! O d'Azur is more sparkling, lighter and citrussy, almost with a slight lemon sherbet fizziness interwoven with the bergamot and slight warm muskiness at the base. To me it definitely smells very European and is reminiscent of the South of France. I highly recommend it to any perfume lover who, like me, likes clean, fresh, uplifting fruity florals. Oh, and the bottle is beautiful too, as is the TMR bottle!

This is such a lovely scent, and I scored a 75ml bottle for cheap at the airport. A fresh citrusy rose, classy and delicately bright...not so light that I can’t smell it on myself, it has a fair bit of ‘body’ to it. Also not generic inspite of the use of common fragrance notes, it smells elegant and refined. Fantastic for hot days. I caught whiffs of it throughout the day, and it just smells like I have emerged from a 5 star hotel spa that uses rose scented products, all clean, pampered and pretty. It’s a demure pretty lady in a sundress, sipping iced tea at a Parisian side walk cafe on a breezy afternoon. The drydown is abit powdery (reminiscent of compact powder), which I found pleasantly surprising, it gives this scent an element of sophistication. Lasting power is okay, around 5-6 hours on skin, much longer on fabrics (I can still smell it on my clothes the next day). I wish I bought a back up, they had quite a few on the discount rack of the duty free store. Would I have purchased it at full price? Probably not. Then again, I am a full-blown bargain hunter and rarely ever buy anything at full price lol. Update: So I’ve been wearing this daily the past week, and I’m loving it more and more each time! I’m noticing the rose a lot more and it’s so feminine and lovely. Fresh and cooling lemony-rose and high end face powder. Longevity and sillage are also alot better than I initially thought, as the scent lingers in my bedroom and hallways all day. I really wish I purchased a back-up. Update x2: Of all the fragrances I currently own, O Azur feels very ‘me’, it has replaced my beloved discontinued ‘Love, Chloe’ as my signature. Different fragrances, rose instead of purple florals, and O Azur is softer and less powdery, but they share the same demeanor.

Lancome O d'Azur is probably the best performing summer scent that I own. ESPECIALLY after I come home from a hard day's work, take a cool, soapy shower, and give myself a good 4 to 6 sprays of this heavenly clean elixir. I adore how clean and fresh this is, and that is unusual since I tend to gravitate to darker more intense scents. But we're talking about a summer scent here, and summer scents to need to deal with the heat and humidity. O d'Azur performs in the best possible way: It's refreshing, it's THERE, but somehow not overwhelming, and it will last a good 6 to 8 hours on the skin even if you're outside in the dank warm wind and you're sweating. It mostly smells like smooth amalfi lemon, soapy woody musk infused in rose and peony, and it has a lovely drydown that is scented with a rose wine and woods--I think it's the combination of ambrette, pink pepper, and "musk" that is giving it that accord. I've gotten lots of compliments on this one, and I think that means it has decent projection. It's so clean and lovely though that I can't see it offending anyone, you'll probably just seem like you have excellent taste in wine and grooming products:P Highly recommended, and I believe that this is discontinued. My collection has gotten so out of hand that I am no longer buying backups of anything but I have worn this a lot the last 2 summers (and this one) so my bottle is half empty. Do I buy another before the price skyrockets? A 4.2 oz bottle on FN right now is so reasonable...

O d'Azur and O de Lancome are both similar in that they're light, fresh, citrussy and have the feel of refreshing eau de colognes that are perfect for wearing on warm, sultry spring / summer days. They're not so 'cool' though that they couldn't be worn in colder weather as they're so uplifting and gorgeous! They smell deliciously feminine, elegant and the bottles are very pretty. In O d'Azur, the Calabrian Lemon and rose are the main notes I pick up and they're just lovely! It's such a fresh, uplifting and exhilarating perfume that I find myself gravitating to it each time I'm in the perfume department of one of the department stores I frequent and can't resist having a couple of big spritzes of it (or several more if the sales assistants aren't lurking around and are actually doing something else!). I REALLY need to treat myself to a bottle of it! This lasts for several hours on my skin, and longer than I would anticipate given that it is fairly light and sheer, and the sillage is pretty good too which, presumably, is thanks to the musk and ambrette. Both O de Lancome and O d'Azur aren't dissimilar to Romeo Gigli Woman, Lanvin's Eclat d'Arpege and Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Lemon Fresca, and I'd definitely recommend all of them (well, except that I think Lemon Fresca is discontinued ... grrrrrr). Anyway, I LOVE O D'Azur and think it's one of Lancome's best perfumes, along with O de Lancome and Tresor Midnight Rose.

I was thinking the other day... is the general trend of mass marketed big fashion house perfumes turning towards "light", "skin scent / moderate projection" and "floral"? And with floral I mean without the gourmand? I was just thinking such releases as the new (2017) Miss Dior, Gabrielle and Poison Girl Unexpected... -? I wonder if this reflects a real change in "l'air du temps" or a simple marketing/business decision on behalf of the producers... -? Well, what ever the reason, I have always loved florals, even the banal rose-piony combinaisons. Actually, _especially_ the rose-piony combinations. ;-D Therefore it is no surprise that O d'azur is not only my favourite of the O series, but a favourite scent of mine in general. The scent has just the right amount of citrus for my taste to give freshness (In general I need only a little citrus...), the piony and rose always make me happy and the base of ambrette and musk make the scent a perfume instead of a body spray. I really hope this scent is not discontinued, I've seen it on sale a couple of times at airports and my local department store doesn't have it in their selection anymore. So sad, because I think it would tick all the right boxes, if the general trend is towards lighter scents.

I'm usually not a fan of the fruity-floral olfactory group. But on a whim today I decided to spray on Lancome O d'Azur. I had low expectations, it didn't smell that intriguing straight from the bottle. The opening has medium citrusy notes, not overwhelming. Nice, uncomplicated, nothimg more nothing less. I still wasn't that impressed. After about two hours the heart of the scent has reached it's peak and to my surprise is very beautiful. Citrusy-floral with a tinge of musk. An interesting entanglement of notes. The drydown is floral-musky. The musk never being too strong throughout the process. All in all a pleasant surprise, a scent that is probably underrated. Can't wait to try the sister-scent O De L'orangerie. O d'Azure went high on my wish list today. Sillage is on the weaker side. Longevity is about 6 hours. I've always been intrigued by the O bottles from Lancome. Remind me of Frank Lloyd Wrights architecture.

So I had to make the difficult decision between restocking this scent or Chance eau Tendre EdP for my fresh summer rose. And I ended up choosing this scent. While the opening is different, the drydown is way too similar to justify owning both, BUT O Azur has that lemony-peppery touch to it that makes it more unique, it’s also a little bit more powdery than Chance Tendre EdP giving it a slightly more sophisticated/mature feel, while Chance Tendre feels more carefree...other than that, they are very similar, both are refined and pretty citrus-rose-musk, even the performance is similar in terms of longevity and sillage (average for both). It’s more budget friendly than Chance Eau Tendre, and you can find great deals online. The only con is that this scent isn’t usually in stores, you need to buy it online...or you might find it in airports.

Outstanding. I am really exploring my collection to figure out which perfumes I like best in each category, with the ultimate goal of only having a 2-3 in each category. This would belong in a category for fresh, soft, dewy florals. And it is outstanding. It lasted for 8 hours on my skin. It did become a skin scent - but I don't ever care if others can easily smell my fragrance, I only care if I'm able to. A perfume that fades into that soft, gossamery skin scent is just fine with me. I saw that it was compared to Aerin Lauder's Wild Geranium and decided to try them one each wrist. At first the similarity wasn't super apparent. Wild Geranium is more green, O d'Azur is more sweet. But after about ten minutes - yeah, they are almost identical. I prefer O d'Azur because it leans a bit more sweet.

I just saw many-many comments that o d'azur has no lasting power and I was suprised. This is my summer scent - I feel sometimes it is even too much, when applying not that carefully.. The quality here is unquestionable. My skin loves rosy-peppery scents, maybe thats why I can feel it all day just radiating. It starts with bright citrusy notes along with the pepper and peony. Actually peony stays all the way long giving some creamyness, but rose starts to dominate after a few minutes. I can understand that people saying it is not an "azur" or mediterranean scent at all, and it is definitely not in the meaning of an aquatic-ozonic-salty way. But it is in a feminine, refreshing, citrusy spicy way. And again, maybe there is nothing surprising, but quality is beautiful.

I was wearing O d'AZUR during this summer and I was very happy with it. Fruity-florals are not usually what I choose to wear, but I wanted something fresh and citrusy for the warm months, that would not overwhelm me or the people around me. O d' AZUR is like a summer breeze, the notes are perfectly balanced, smells like a garden somewhere near the Mediterranean sea, bringing back memories of my childhood's summers and maybe that's why I like it so much... On me it lasts long, I was getting many unexpected compliments, hours after I had put it on and it has a very nice silage, at least for my criteria(one has to be quite near me to be able to smell me, not from across the room). I still have a bottle, I use this as a spirit lifter

There is something deceptively moreish about this fragrance. Having owned and loved the other two O fragrances in the range, my first impression was that Azur was too weak and lacked character in comparison . However, since retesting recently, I have become enamoured with this subtle, intriguing scent. It morphs from a gentle lemon sherbet citrus to a seductively delicious floral - yet never soapy or dated - as the lemon lifts and twists the traditional peony into something edgy; tamed by a sensual ambrette upon drydown. For the first time I've learnt to fully appreciate a subtle perfume rather than crave a room-filler - yet still feel excited about it. O d'Azur truly epitomises less is more.

25. may 2011 I left it unnoticed when it came out last year mostly due to my lack of interest to flankers, but now i truly regret that! Tried it recently in a shop and instantly fell in love with it!! Very green and fresh at the beginning it has a very much appealing and amazing drydown with citrus-woodsy notes! It is like a YSL ́s "In love again" origina with a woody-pine note. Absolutly amazing and brilliant combination, This is really my kind of hot weather scent. Lasting power is though better on a paper than on a skin (on a paper it stays fresh for several days, but on a skin only up to couple of hours, which is also not bad).

This is quite a nice surprise :) It has a lovely fresh citrusy opening, but it is not too citrusy at all. Within seconds I detect the rose & peony and in the drydown I also get the musk & ambrette, adding a bit of sensuality to the fragrance. Not too citrusy, not too floral. Not too sour, not too sweet. It's all blended very nicely!! Light and airy. I only sprayed once on my wrist and it hasn't been on for too long yet, but from what I can tell by now I think the stayingpower is not too bad. It does stay close to the skin, but it is potent enough to let you know it is there without pressing your nose onto your skin :)

So pretty! This lemon-peony-rose-blend with a little musky background is right up my alley. I see a connection to 4711 Nouveau Cologne, only O d'Azur is stronger - albeit still lighter than I would want it. If it was any stronger and lasted a little longer, it would be among my top ten. O d'Azur is perfect in sommer: uplifting, sweet and fresh. Very natural smelling. I went through two bottles and might get another one, while it is still on the market. Got quite a few compliments for it, just in case you care for shallow praise, like I do :-)

Yesterday I wrote a review on Armani's Acqua di Gioia, lamenting about the lack of that summer dew - like freshness and purity. And voila - O d'Azur! After the first blast of fresh italian citruses (and boy, fresh they are), beautiful floral notes stand out, slightly oriental, spiced up with pink pepperish note and herby ambrette. Beautiful. Smells kinda green and soothing. I imagine summer mornings somewhere in Umbria smelling like this.

This is not at all complex or groundbreaking, but I can appreciate it in its simplicity. This is a refreshing and upbeat fragrance, if a little on the sweet side. It doesn't smell particularly natural, and so you won't be transported to walking amongst the flora and fauna of the Mediterranean. Rather, it evokes the feeling of jetting off somewhere warm and sunny.

According to the people who give me complements, it smells like raspberry. I don't detect anything fruity or " berryish" It has a strong fresh smell. Starts citrusy, but softens and gets warmer later. Soothing is a good word. I buy it directly from Lancôme.

This was a total surprise to me. It smells wonderful on, and lasts a long time as a light fragrance. It does not shut down my asthmatic relatives. I think this may be one of my new favorites!

O d'Azur is one of my favourite Summer scents. It's fresh, citrus musky, crispy and creamy at the same time...It melts into my skin and makes me feel very sensual. I just love it!!!

I LOVE this one. It's sweet, fresh, ladylike, wish it lasted alittle longer. Wish I could find a hand cream or lotion to possibly make it last longer but that's ok I still love it.

Happiness in a bottle. That's what this fragrance is to me, in a nutshell. Wearing it makes me feel like I'm a better person. lol

Smells great, fresh, clean but the lasting power and silage is terrible. I will not purchase this due to the poor lasting power.

A wonderful bright aroma.. Bot too citrusy, not too clean, yet somehow in between. Truly perfect

Just picked this up today as a gift and I think the recipient is going to be very pleased! I found it for $28 U.S. for a full size bottle at a Marshals. Most of the fragrances they had seemed to lean toward an older customer base; I found it between a 200 ml bottle of Cool Water and 5th Avenue. This too is for an older nose than mine. It has a fresh, citrus top that seems to persist for forever, it comes back everytime you warm up. There's also this powdery smell I haven't come across before. It's not like a Aldehydic, baby powder, but like a woman's face powder and rouge. After a few minutes it all settles and you get the florals; fresh cut, in a vase, in bloom. Very pleasant and fresh great for spring and summer. Can't speak to the projection but I can't imagine anyone would be offended if you wore it in a small office.

I like the fragrance but why is it so subtle? Too hard to detect the smell. It stays very close to skin and it's very Lanvin-like (f. ex. Eclat d'Arpege) when it comes to subtlety - very weak sillage. Too bad because I've read it's similar to Saharienne. I love Saharienne and I have to admit sillage in the YSL perfume is much better. It has something in common with Saharienne - perhaps the sand feeling - but Saharienne is much stronger and has better lemon ;) If it was stronger, it would be great. Still it's a fragrance I really like, with lemon, rose, wood and light pepper detectable. Classy and calm. It's like a warm sand and air, I like this type of fragrance. Kind of subtle floral oriental. Bottle is pretty. Edition: I like it more than when I tested it for the first time. Actually I like it very, very much :)

Blind bought for my beautiful wife based on the notes and reviews here. What a gorgeous fragrance. While there's a nice sweetness from the peony and rose, it maintains a brilliant balance between its base notes and the freshness and brightness of the pink pepper and citrus. The opening is very similar to Jardin d'Interdit by Givenchy (another my wife has owned, but this is more mature). Drydown brings more powdery, musky notes (of course) which remind me of Sensuous Nude just without the sandalwood. It gets very close to being generic but strays away from it by maintaining the elegance and quality you expect from Lancome - it carries the word 'beautiful'. I can see why voters here have leaned more towards 'like' than 'love', this will be great through spring and summer but may not become a mainstay.

I was surprised by the familiarity of this scent and it instantly hit me that this is just like Jimmy Choo EDT except with more citrus and more floral qualities than musky pear. The added pink pepper and musks give this scent a more elegant and mature fruity floral than JC. In the end the musk gives this a shampoo-like warm quality. This is probably my favorite out of the Ô line of Lancôme because it is light an refreshing but I think the ambrette seeds ground it and make it more heavy- it's like a vacation fragrance but it is so fleeting. Seems to have moderate to soft silage and 3-4 hours of lasting power. Nothing too unique but it is a like for me. Except I am not tempted to purchase because I have a more beautiful and alluring citrus white floral with a hint of fruits, Jour d'Hermes.

This has the most intriguing lemon-rose-talc bubble. I can see this becoming my summer signature scent. Longevity is good but it projects mildly. I love that at initial spray the lemon-spice is different from a typical citrus fragrance. A bit reminiscent of Midnight Rose in the opening but it dries down to the most beautiful musk (not a note I can always tolerate). Unfolds perfectly from top notes to drydown. It bares to mention, this very perfume can be assaulting during the winter weather. It matters when you give this perfume a chance. Bought in December for $20 at Marshall's and it was just a spicy lemon bomb.

Bitter-sweet lemony, soapy, and really fresh. I mostly get peony and lemon before it blends into my skin. Wonderful little summer gem. Never overwhelming but noticeable enough. I think this acts as a more refined summer citrus body mist. If one wishes to avoid the summer classics, such as coconut, sunscreen, tropical fruit or tart citrus, this is a lovely choice. Be it either super-hot summer or cool rainy spring, it still smells nice, leaning either very bright and floral or soapy and close to the skin, but bear in mind, Lancome O d'Azur is far from anything innovative, so don't expect any artistic nuances.

I have always avoided citrus type perfumes as I find them harsh yet bland. Lancome's O D'Azur is an exception. The citrus is balanced by the warmth of amber and subtle rose. The fragrance evokes scenes on the Mediterranean - the sea or a pretty garden. The sun is shining and you are on holiday. It's a lovely and pleasant scene, as is the perfume. The citrus keeps everything fresh and I haven't smelt this perfume on many people. As I said this perfume is an exception but it is not exceptional, mainly to its soap-like quality. Which doesn't make it bad, just not really for me.

I've got this sample from my friend yesterday. I can detech rose, actully I hate some rose dominant perfume because it's almost alway too sweet, but not with Od'AZUR cause it's blen so well with bergamot and pink pepper given me luxury feel. It's good for ware to the celebrate event such as wedding or just walking in the garden but not for hip party! To me, this also reminds me of Bvlgari Rose Essentielle but the begin is too sharp and drydown is less imprssive, with equal staying power(on my skin this stay for 3-5 hours) compare to Od'AZUR I like this perfume!

This review is for the newer formulation. I cannot compare or review the older version is I've never smelled it. This is a very safe and gentle flanker. I cannot see how anyone could be offended by this a aroma. Nothing groundbreaking nothing outstanding but certainly a great fragrance for the price. The smells nothing like the original O we Lancome which is very green and reminiscent of the late sixties when it was released.

This reminds me very strongly of another perfume, but it's not in the 'Reminds me of' section. It does have something in common with Florabotanica, but O d'Azur is much less potent, not as invasive as I find Florabotanica to be. Sillage is not very strong, though spraying on clothes it does remain throughout the day and I catch whiffs of it. It's citrusy and floral, quite pleasant really.

Pure quality. Spicy, musky, woodsy, citrusy scent that melts into your skin like the warm Azure sun. It's a delightful fragrance, more mature than the original Ô de Lancôme. It's completely different. An entirely new creation for the elegant, mature, refined woman. Perfectly lovely! Reminds me a little bit of Aqua Allegoria Teazzurra. Same heavy notes of lemon, bergamot, and musk.

This smells like hay and warm summer breathe. Lancôme O d`Azur is not your typical citrus fragrance. It has a bit of a citrus at the opening, but this fragrance is not about citrus. This one is super light peppery floral with ambrette base. The result is simply beautiful - delicate, fresh, feminine fragrance with a charming dry-down. Unfortunately, it doesn't last.

O d'Azur smells to me a little bit woody, like young and fresh cedarwood. Then there's a lot of fresh fruit and rose, surprisingly I don't get much citruses. I actually consider it along the lines of Lalique - Amethyst. For me this scent screams summer, but it's very original. I don't know any other typical summers scent, that smells similar, so I enjoy it a lot.

I bought this one yesterday. I like it very much. Its fresh but spicy to. the opening starts fresh, a bit citrus. Then in the dry down you can smell the flowers. the peony is a bit strong first. but got smooted by the rose.I also can regonize the pepper. The woods gives the perfume warmt. I dont see it much as a floral fruity. More like a floral oriental

It evokes the look and smell of blue sky and delicate clouds, but it hits the base notes immediately on me, there's the creamy muskiness and blonde wood and sweet ambrette, dreamy, creamy and calm and its all light and well balanced and it has a very summer-appropiate sillage and presence. But lemons, roses, peonies? Nope, not present at all.

Sweet and light floral,with the warmth of French sunshine. I get barely any citrus at all in this, much too light to be citrus-y and not as zesty as De L'Orangerie and much less interesting. A nice flanker to O and a pleasant scent but pales into insignificance by comparison especially re: depth and longevity, Like an O de Lancome Lite!!

sprayed it at te airport, unfortunately only on my cardigan by mistake....first wasn't taken in just another one pleasant, fresh frag, but after the opening is lovely very soft,yet enchanting and the dry down smells like violets to me..it is a keeper..really liked it...lasts long ...on clothes...think good enough even for fall...

I really like the scent for spring and summer! It is such a pretty, feminine, citrus floral. Very light and refreshing. I really see myself wearing this a lot when the weather warms up as it is the dead of winter with an average temperature of 20 degrees F right now. This is also very nice layered over a vanilla perfume!

Oktober girl: Nothing in common with Escale a Portofino!! Escale is such a explotion of citrus and almond with the most elegant woods, that makes me feel so so fresh!!O d`azur is not fresh to me...is a bunch of roses and pepper. Not bad, but not enoguh for a summer scent, is more like summer nights or spring time.
