Amber Stone

A unique fragrance that takes you on a journey; where the destination is very different to where you started. The opening of Amber Stone is a herbal, almost medicinal kind of sent. It makes me think of those herbal apothecary shops that you might find down a dark side street. As the scent wears, that sharpness softens to a little more rich and earthy note with a soft hint of leather. It starts to feel warm and cosy. As it fully dries down, it becomes surprisingly sweet and incredibly calming. It’s completely different to how it smells on the opening. It’s incredible. An indie house that’s definitely worth keeping your eyes (and nose) on.

Amber Stone is dark, earthy, and feels almost ancient. It starts off dry and herbal, but the patchouli, myrrh, and resins quickly begin to come through. The leather, oakmoss, and vetiver give it a rugged, slightly smoky feel, while the balsams add some warmth underneath it all. To me, it smells like old stone, worn leather, damp earth, and incense that has been burning for years. This definitely isn’t a modern, sweet amber, and that’s exactly why I like it.

For someone who describes themselves as a “patchouli hoor”, this delivers on all fronts. The camphorous quality of the bay leaf does not dissipate on the dry down, but sits lightly atop the gorgeous blend of spices, resins and that ever beautiful patchouli. Presentation is insanely good and the bottles solid & weighty. I suspect this will be upgraded to a full bottle at some point.
