Le Speculoos

What a wonderful dark gourmand this is! I'm transported to Holland in Christmas time with the yummy speculaas cookies next to my cup of coffee. This is my first L'antichambre sample and I am totally in love with it. (the double o of the name is in Belgium, with double a in Holland). It is very well blended so that you smell the cookie (not that sweet as the real cookie fortunately)and its spices but as a whole, you can of course concentrate and find the cinnamon, the cloves, the ginger and the cardamom but they all make a greater thing than its ingredients. The spices remain throughout but soft, not at all annoying as you may expect from the notes. Please sample this and let it develop, it will turn darker as if the cookie stayed longer in the oven and got slightly burned (and bitter! mmm). Great stuff, unisex 100%. I thank so much the vanilla is there but playing a second role (at some points even disappearing from stage and re appearing for a grand finale). Wonderful, I'm simply counting coin by coin in order to buy a full bottle for next winter! Sillage and longevity are rather moderate. Oh Holland and Dutch people how I miss you all!

I was really expecting the speculoos by lotus for idk reason... I really thought it would be the very sweet - chemical version. And I’m happy they stood for the original recipe with REAL speculoos ingredients where I can smell every single ones. Paper stick: I was first sceptical on the perfume because it did smelled like a strong ginger cookie with cloves, like the christmas ones. Arm: This is where the magic happens, the strong ginger cookie - clove scent settle into a delicious and creamy vanilla version, (ginger, cinnamon, cloves... are very present and in harmony) which make it wearable and not too christmas candle like. It fades into a spicy - sour note. On the skin, it’s very spicy - creamy. I really love it, but Idk for now if I want to buy an entire bottle. I think of it as an « olfactory walk » which is perfect if you want to discover new scents.

This is the kind of fragrance that was made with the sole purpose of making you or others around you respond in an exclamatory way. Upon first spray, I couldn't believe how indistinguishable this was from Glade's(yes, air freshener) Nutcracker Crunch. Another honorable mention would probably be a snickerdoodle cookie. Longevity is more than worthy of a purchase. I don't really want to repeat what has been said already. Everyone's account of this perfume is spot on. What I like to add is this fragrance is also an aphrodisiac. Big Time. In conclusion, this fragrance isn't kinda foody; it's REAL foody! As long as you're comfortable with that, you should have no problem liking this one.

This has a very strong and spicy opening, with the cloves especially at the forefront (which I don't particularly take to). When it dries down, the vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg are left and it takes on a lovely and warm flavor! I say flavor because it does actually smell a bit like a delectably sweet, spicy cookie after about half an hour. This is a really interesting fragrance! I like it!

Such a photorealistic ‘Speculaas’ (traditional Dutch cookie) scent, immediately transports you to Dutch winters; hot beverages, ice skating, being a kid and getting speculaas. I get a hint of almond, too. Very very realistic, but not heavy, nauseating or body splash-like. Longevity could be better though.
