Crepusculum Mirabile 63

I got Crepusculum Mirabile in a swap probably a year ago but it has mostly been in my closet the whole time. I would spray it every once in awhile and think "meh." I'd tried several different layering combos as well to varying degrees of success, but overall I was not feeling it. Maybe I wanted more jasmine? Maybe my expectations were different? Maybe I only like sweeter sandalwood scents?? As it is now spring, and I wanna do some spring cleaning to clear out space for new fun things, I decided to spray CM on again before bed to determine if I wanted to keep it or swap it to someone who would love it more. Let's be real, this is too expensive of a perfume to just sit in the closet!!! Then, just before bed, something magical happened. Maybe I am in a different headspace now, or maybe it is the difference in seasons versus when I first tried Crepusculum Mirabile, but I literally said out loud "oh my god. I am obsessed!" The first impression is photorealistic jasmine over soft woods then it quickly settles down into more of a floral-tinged dry wood. Vetiver isn't listed in the notes, but there is a dustiness that vetiver always brings to a scent that is undeniable in CM. This might be the thing that threw me off when I first tried it, based on the expectations I had from my experience with the notes listed. The sandalwood is smooth yet dry, having an almost sunbaked quality to it, and no pickle to my nose. The jasmine has an almost indolic (piss-y) quality at the very beginning that quickly turns into the sensation of walking past a newly-blooming jasmine bush. The tonka is strong at first, but on me it becomes the most subtle backing track to the jasmine & sandalwood by the time the scent is fully dried down. Tonka tends to dominate on my skin, so I am thankful that it is just there for support and does not overwhelm. Sandalwood, with that vetiver that I know is there, truly is the standout of this scent. I just can't believe what a goober I was to not notice. The bottle is gorgeous, the sprayer is divine, and in addition to smelling addictive, the scent lasts and lasts. It was still going strong from 2 sprays by the time I got up. It is on the more linear side once it dries down, but the drydown is so so good that I do not care. To my nose this is unisex, but because of the sandalwood/vetiver combo, some folks might think it leans masculine. Overall, this is a scent worth trying for sandalwood lovers or for someone who wants to try a bit of a different woody scent. Do not be like me and keep this one locked away!!

I learned from this website that when a perfume has low rating it’s gonna be very good :-) This is another case, omg, this house is just a step above the majority of other niche houses, everything they put out is so classy, natural, refined. This is a milkshake of jasmine and soap. I can’t describe it better. Very soapy clean and creamy and the jasmine is so beautiful and natural, like when you walk close to a plant of jasmine. The best way to imagine it is a cream of soap, jasmine and soft woods. Absolutely amazing. Not for the geeks of strong dark perfumes with oud ambar patchouli rose etc etc, this is white, clean and creamy.

A 'Wonderful Twilight', indeed. Velvety, luminous jasmine combines with warm, creamy, almost caressing sandalwood. In the background, tonka adds a subtly gourmand touch, like a soft and enveloping breath. It is a fragrance that comforts as much as it seduces, a sensual warmth that invites closeness. Immediate love.

A heavenly scent, transports you to nights in the Mediterranean. Aquatic, hot, fresh, carnal, voluptuous; clean and complex, an enigmatic siren of a flower. I'm sure there's more notes than listed, I reckon there's ylang ylang and white musk in there as well. I highly recommend this, it blooms in the heat.

Creamy sandalwood with a touch of spicy and hintly jasmine... This whiffs soapy then creamy back and forth with sandalwood, hint of spice, and musk. It is clean yet creamy sandal with white floral. Beautiful.

This reminds me of a hand cream my Nana wore when I was young. The first 5 minutes was very intense but holy I just can’t get enough of the dry down. I will be adding this one to my list. 😀

Here the name confused me, as it's named after a rare rainforest plant in the capsicum (chilli) family found in Brazil. This plant itself is hard to find any information on, so I'm unsure if the flowers have a scent. I would assume not though and assume that this perfume would be a fantasy scent of that flower. Yet, this isn't what I expected at all! I would have guessed it would have had a spicy note in the heart considering it is a chilli plant. instead it is more a hot house tropical white floral, a song of many jasmine flowers in the heat, backed up by creamy sandalwood. The jasmine here is pink and sweet, smaller flowers that have a slight mentholated, fruity and bubble gum aspect to them, so much so that in the opening I assumed it was tuberose instead. In fact, I'm not convinced this doesn't have tuberose AND jasmine. The artwork with the octopus combines well though, as this perfume does have a sort of mineral and beachy (think dried salt water and sun tan lotion on sun kissed warm skin) aspect to it. The sandalwood is laconic and body lotion like, combining well here with the sweet white floral of jasmine and tonka bean. This is absolutely a clean and feminine scent that straddles the line of body lotion and body powder nicely. It's really all about the white florals and sandalwood that work together to create this humid and tropical image. It's just a shame it doesn't last on me barely any time at all. Luckily, whilst it stays in the clean skin and fresh lotion territory on my skin, it never goes too far soapy. A like, not a love. O and yes - it does remind me of Samsara too.

I think one must assume these notes lists aren't the complete story, or I'd at least hope not, given the price point! In Fragrantica's defence, the brand itself only lists three notes, so perhaps they're just trying not to overwhelm with a long notes list. Nevertheless, it definitely gives the impression you're being gouged out by these La Botanique perfumes... Here we have a fairly brash, fruity and full white floral which feels like it's mainly made of jasmine and tuberose, and it's very evocative (to my nose) of Guerlain's now discontinued and much maligned Mahora/Mayotte. Crepusculum Mirabile is slightly better behaved in the conventional sense, in that it dials back both the hairspray and the volume by around a factor of 5, giving a light-and-breezy 'Mahora-lite' effect to my nose. Though many hated it, I really loved Mahora so I'm pleased to have found this, though comparing side-by-side CM is certainly a shrinking violet by comparison. As Crepusculum Mirabile dries on the skin, the fruitiness gives way to woodiness but the white floral remains stolid and central throughout. CM is not particularly indolic, perhaps only faintly so. I get touches of jasmine, ylang-ylang, peachy tuberose and a smoothish soapy sandalwood dry down. Intoxicating, but like all full-bosomed white floral bouquets it's totally outside of the current fragrance Overton window...

An indolic, unapologetically dirty, sweet jasmine. Raw in form, with an opening so sharp it’s almost acetonic. That initial harshness is startling; but given time, it settles into something bold and compelling. I can understand why it’s divisive, yet I don’t find it bad at all. This is a sensual, deep, warm flower; one that feels fully mature, nocturnal, and confident in its intensity. I often seek out jasmine on summer evenings, standing beneath star jasmine vines to inhale that lush combination of power, indolic depth, and creaminess. This is not that one. Here, the character is heavier, darker, unmistakably night-bound. Less white, more red; rich, shadowed, and smoldering. After writing this, I looked up the meaning of Crepusculum: twilight and the name couldn’t be more accurate. Tag(s): indolic jasmine, nocturnal, rich, sweet, dirty

This reminds me of a scent from the 1980s so I completely relate to the review directly below mine. The sandalwood is really turned up in this jasmine floral composition, so much that Crepusculum Mirabile 63 profile is in the oriental perfume genre. I also understand the Serge Luten’s Datura Noir reference, and like that one on my skin, it blooms in the summer evening hours. I’m thinking in heat the jasmine might be more prominent in this mix. It is a heady cocktail of florals and sweet tonka, and yes a bit of aquatic funk. I like this perfume but it’s not something I crave to own. I have others that give me this vibe. The low rating is not accurate, so test for yourself.

I bought this perfume in Paris and it was my first perfume that I have bought for myself. I have been trying to find a signature scent, and I think this one is very close. I was immediately draw in to this fragrance because it comes off as very mysterious and comforting. Something about it drew me in and so I feel that it must be speaking to me somehow. Sometimes it can be a bit strong, and it's something that I am going to grow in to. But something just continues to draw me back to it. I think it'll grow and mature with me, and it's a scent that I'll hold dear to me as I grow up.

This jasmine is woody, "clean" (rather than indolic or heady), with quite a bit of that sweetness from the tonka bean. Very nice, but agree that in settling down its a semi-sweet wood, which isn't my favourite. The jasmine starts to really pop about 30 minutes into wear, but otherwise the jasmine is still the first to fade and what I'm left with is a tonka-wood type of perfume. Heady soapy jasmine and potential tuberose (a little bubblegummy). Definitely not the first time I’ve smelled something like this. It’s nice enough, but that price!! I need something life changing at that point. Update: after drying down for some time, it’s unequivocally giving urine. Sour, rancid, please don’t pee in my bushes. For jasmine, I’ll be sticking to Lush Lust.

a beautiful jasmine with a spicy creamy layer on a smooth velvety amber undertone, it also give a nice soapyness in the dry down and the vibe definitely feels vintage but it’s blended beautifully after the strong opening. More feminine tone but I love it.

Unisex with a feminine lean. Opening is awesome, effervescent; like a spiked off-brand soda. Reminds me of a mild Tonka Cola. Settles down into a semi-sweet, woodsy, bright floral scent that jumps off the skin. Well balanced. Not much nuance. VG.

Elegant and feminine. Lots of jasmine and a bit of warmth from the sandalwood. I can see this being quite versatile, it’s not too young or too mature. Reasonably soft so good for the office. I only wish the longevity was a bit better.

A Gucci bloom that's a little more grounded and closer to the skin - older, wiser and at twice the price tag. The same funereal jasmine, but bound a little more tightly with whispers of wood. Less innocent, more sultry.

Cumin? Why don't we have cumin as a listed note?

This is a very feminine rendition of jasmine smell. Not original by any means. Sweet vanilla, warm sandalwood, heart of jasmine - heady and a bit unnatural. Reminiscent of pretty much every single girly-girl bigger brand fragrance you can find in a duty free store. Really, not quite sure what is the fragrance story here or why making this was necessary... Plainly not interesting. Nothing more to say.

A potent and bold fragrance, more for woman. I can smell sandalwood mainly with a touch of jasmin. Creamy, more for fall and winter but not my favorite. 5/10

L'Artisan Parfumeur offers free samples on their site for the cost of shipping, so I picked one up to try. Overall, this one didn't work for me. The top and middle notes are actually quite pleasant — the spiciness plays nicely against the sweet jasmine. My issue is the dry-down: the tonka settles very heavily on my skin and becomes overpowering, which is something I consistently struggle with in fragrances.

I mostly smell jasmine and tuberose on opening, beautiful at first, but it soon settles into a salty/sea note that's suspiciously like the fragrance you'd expect from 'sea breeze' candles. For this price, if you want that sea effect I'm expecting ambergris, not this synthetic edge. Not for me.

If I blindly tested this, Crepusculum Mirabile 63 reminds of Isabey's perfumery. But as with Lys Noir, this is just too much for my taste. It has certain allure and smells very feminine, pleasantly so, it has some mystery, warmth, but I can't, it gives me nausea.

Bubble gummy tuberose and I get a hint of Jasmine hiding in the back, in the dark, tied up, and knocked out. The sandalwood is creamy but something in here is making me sick. Upon further dry down, urine and diapers 💛🤎. Scrubbing this off as I type

most unique take on jasmine & sandalwood. maybe im being influenced by the marketing and octopus imagery, but something about this does feel very briney and seawater ish. overall very intense jasmine with aquatic tone.

First spray on me is very animalic and funky. Then a headache inducing jasmine takes over. Not my thing.

The opening of crepusculum mirabile is really unpleasant to me personally, it’s a very soapy vintage scent with a strong alcoholic background. As it dries down it turns more pleasant and sweet. The individual notes blend together nicely, but the sillage is almost non existent which is a shame with such an expensive perfume in my opinion. The longevity is also nothing to write home about but not entirely bad. Specific scent profile aside, considering the price point I don’t think it’s a must buy unless you’re looking for a slightly sweet skin scent that’s not flashy.

I suspected I didn’t care for jasmine scents, and I think this was a reminder. The opening is a sharp jasmine, but it softens in time and smells lighter/soapier. It’s a bit non-descript, I guess. My boyfriend: “It smells generic. I have no thoughts on this.”💀lol I’m sampling the La Botanique range, and it’s my first experience with L’artisan Parfumeur. It seems to me that all of them are pretty weak in sillage and longevity. They peak very quickly and are essentially indetectible in 30 minutes 🤷🏼 I hope to find a few with more staying power.

Mature but feminine jasmine fragrance🌸💄 This fragrance I need another 15 years for me to pull off with my skin in particular, but I do have to say I am fascinated with its ozonic sense of macabre🖤 I imagine whoever to wear this fragrance to be is calm and humble but also suspiciously enjoying watching and analyzing murder documentaries🕵♂️I do also associate this perfume, when I was having tea and deep discussions with elderly folk, as I enjoyed them reminiscing their past🗝 Zodiac Trio ⬆️Gemini☀️Virgo🌜Libra

The first spray on my skin is Jasmine, tuberose and baby powder. As it dries down, it’s all Jasmine, baby powder and lipstick with a note of those thick plaster bandaids and sour powdered candy. Bit elderly. Not a very complex or interesting scent which is too bad because the artwork on the bottle is unique.

Creamy Jasmin at the opening . Thanks to the Tonka note! Dry down is nice blend of sandalwood & jasmine . For those who like sandal it’s a good choice for me big NO.

Feminine Jasmine and sandalwood scent, has a bit of a body product vibe, pleasant, albeit a little old-fashioned. Not bad.

I find myself holding on to the sample. It’s lovely, only caveat is the moderate projection.
