Légendes du Cèdre

Mysterious sweet woody fragrance, fresh and modern in the opening but unfortunately dries down to an all predictable oud, which I am not a fan. Because of the dry down it leans more masculine.

On my skin this opens with a burst of cedar that eventually settles and gives room for the other notes to breathe. Soon it becomes a patchouli forward fragrance co-starring cedar (a woody patchouli if you like). As it dries down the labdanum and nutmeg become more prominent but on me it's still patchouli all the way. I really enjoy how this wears and while I don't agree that it smells cheap, I do agree that it's nothing particularly daring. Just a really nice and inoffensive all-day-wear fragrance for colder weather. I probably won't purchase a full bottle because there are better woody patchouli fragrances out there that don't cost $300AUD.

Nice perfume which came as a gift from significant other, all the way from R.S.A. This is woody nectar projecting monster which ganners compliements. This is one of those scents i go nose blind with after a few minutes, but trust me it's there for detection. This is a formal/slick casual scent which will compliment dresscode artication. Overall rating: 8/10

The top note is coconut which no one mentioned, has the Creed virgin island water DNA and is a bit close to one Jennifer Lopez

Honestly not much to say with this one, other than it is essentially a spicier, more woody and less sweet take on Penhaligon’s Halfeti. That’s actually it, this would be good for anyone that wants a less clean and soapy version of Halfeti. It’s not bad by any means, just nothing new.

Now you can have Halfeti in a different bottle!

Masculine woody and fresh. I expected to like it based on the notes, but unfortunately it's a miss for me. It doesn't reflect the price point at all. The first time I smelled it, I thought "Axe deodorant". I forgot I had it on my arm for a while, and then suddenly caught a whiff of something that resembled men's body odor (not in an attractive way, either) - horrified me for a second, until I realized it was actually this perfume and not me. So the impression is "Axe deodorant, if it didn't work very well". For a better niche cedar that actually smells high-end, maybe try Byredo Super Cedar.

I got this as a complimentary sample, and already guessed it might not be the type of fragrance I usually go for. My first thought was “oh, this isn’t so bad” but then... it was that bad. It reminds me of a sweet dark spirit, like whisky, but sweeter. It’s very spicy, aromatic and woody. It is the kind of fragrance I can taste (in a bad way). Although it’s citrusy, it’s not fresh. It is a heavy, sweet, woody citrus. My nose has the same very strong, very negative reaction to this as it did to Tom Ford’s Grey Vetiver. It doesn’t mean they are bad fragrances, there's just something about both of them that my nose finds very off-putting.

This is like if Halfeti, Mr Sam, and, hear me out, Joop Homme had a baby. The cedar is very much reminiscent of the first two, but there’s this sweeter, fresher, almost juicier component that helps to separate it from the other two over time. I like it. But is it better than Mr Sam? I dunno...

It is very smoky on my skin like tabacco. Reminds me of my grandmother who was a smoker. The it has turned to be like Halfeti.

Patchouli nutmeg & saffron.., It's sweet coconutty spicy patchouli with saffron. Labdanum, and cedar. Nice.
