L’Ete en Douce

This is perfume for the perfume sensitive, something to throw on when you don't want to mess with trying, or a perfume substitue. Once applied it is soft musk and fluff, clean Linden, the scent of your clothes freshly laundered with Downy. What it gives is the feeling of a peaceful atmosphere, like a spring day at home. All the laundry is done and put away, the floors are swept and vacuumed, beds are made, dishes done, bellies full, the warmth of the sun is coming through the windows, everyone is getting along and the day is full of opportunity. As it wears on it truly becomes one with you and it's easy to forget your scent is coming from a bottle rather than all the nice clean things around you. It seems wrong in a way to call it a perfume, but that's what makes it special. It doesn't fade quickly or lose its form. It moves with you, stays comfortably close and lasts a long time. On clothes it's even better. I should have kept it short and said it's like walking on a cloud. If you can imagine what that would smell like, if clouds had a scent, this would be it.

The first time I tested it, it was one of those joyous moments when you think to yourself "THIS is exactly what I was looking for" and your heart is lifted on its breeze of a meadow on the most beautiful, pleasantly cool summer day in the English countryside, when you lie under a flowering linden tree and you get wafts of sweet-smelling bales of hay from the fields nearby. Thankfully it lasts fairly well, longevity is about 5 hours with relatively low projection. It's safe to drench yourself in it and I can't believe anyone would dislike it, even if they don't find it as wonderful as I do. If Eau du Ciel is lovely but not quite there and La Chasse aux Papillons drowned you in screechy, green notes and orange flower instead of that lift into ethereal, gauzy clouds you expected (like it happened to me), maybe this will be the one to give you that exhilarating feeling of happiness. Excuse me, but out of my own experience I can't think of anyone going anywhere and bothering anybody when wearing this delicate and caressing scent. In any case all that anyone could get would be compliments and a very positive first impression, no matter the event. I'ts so clean,so ethereal, innocent yet classy fragr... ...but oh my!!! What do my eyes see? What did they do to the beautiful bottle? The classic one with the golden cap and sky blue tag. Is this kind of menacing, dark and masculine new look a sort of joke? Some limited edition perhaps? I really hope so or the container won't ever match the contents anymore. Precisely cause this fragrance is all about extreme delicacy, kindness and formal tenderness in a, I won't say masculine or feminine, but rather in an angelic way.

The gentle beauty of this one is like a time capsule of days that may have never even been, but you've always longed for. Life is simple, all is well, nature is right outside the window, both your parents are downstairs and you don't have a care in the world. L'ete en douce struck a cord in me so masterfully, that I had to seek out and buy a full bottle off of ebay, racking my budget with triple the original price. I'll cherish it, but I'm afraid I'll use it up too quickly, and it won't get easier to find with time. Unless they bring it back, which, P L E A S E and thank you, L'artisan parfumeur. Also, longevity is craazy good on my skin, especially for such a gentle scent. 10+ hours, easily.

I must have a type because I seem to love everything Olivia Giacobetti creates. I wear perfume for myself primarily and silliage is not something I seek out, if anything I prefer to not have people commenting on my perfume unless they are hugging me. I really only wear my stronger fragrances when I am home in the evening. Call me shy I suppose. So for me, this is wonderful. It is light, fluffy, not too sweet or too floral. If you want something that is a more vocal, notice me fragrance then don't waste your time. If you like a quiet, soft, unassuming fragrance then this or anything by Olivia is likely to speak (whisper?) to you and you will probably like what it has to say.
